Realmedia streaming video attempts, firefox only offers Quicktime and won't

I've attempted to view streamed video in Realplayer format but the popup only allows for Quicktime as the player and that won't work of course. Anybody know how to set up Realplayer or Firefox to work together? I downloaded the latest Realplayer and Firefox and don't know why it reads the streaming video as Quicktime.

Thanks so much for your reply. It seems odd that the website would not have heard from other subscribers before about this problem but they didn't mention it when I contacted them. I was on another site yesterday with similar educational workshop videos (though MUCH longer) & my Mac worked fine. Unless like you said, they weren't high-quality. I guess I'll have to wait for the website to remedy the problem! Thanks!

IPhone plays only one playlist and won't others

Hi guys,
can anyone help me; I have my iPhone for so long time, always updated with latest version of software, but recently after latest update 3.1.3. iPod plays only one playlist and won't play any other. Also can't enter any other artist file or videos. When I try to, Ipod closes! The rest of phone works fine.
Could it be problem with latest update? How can I reset latest update?

The latest update works fine for most people, but your's might not have been applied correctly for some reason.
Try the standard troubleshooting steps in order:
Restart your phone: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until a red slider appears, and then drag the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset your phone: Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

I've tried my iphone 4 with the same result. I've tried the utilty on my pc and same result. The airport is producing a great wireless signal and working to all devices. I really just want to get in and set the password.

If you right click the black box, does the browser menu appear or Flash Players?

Streaming Video in IE for mac quicktime

I am trying to watch live streaming video of sports (sent only for IE) on MacBook platform using Mav version of Quicktime. I also have downloaded Flip4Mac (Free) to covert video to play on MacBook desktop using Quicktime. When tried I get the message "backgroundimage failed"
When I play smple clips of Quicktime and Mediaplayer, they play OK.

That is exactly the problem. That site tansmits for IE browser.
However, I was told that Flip4Mac is supposed to convert WMV files in to Quicktime
files so that the streaming video can be played on Mac platform.
How can make them work together?

it's possible. i did it myself, after a few tryouts.
i still can't get the best result, but i got something.
first of all you have to save the streaming file(thru the save as qt movie, from CTRL-click). when you get a stream it gets cached on your computer. you might playback it even when offline. so if all that you need is a simple playback, that's ok. but it's a cache, sometime the system will erase it from your HD.
if you want to keep it as a qt file(or any other format) thats this is the deal. when you save the stream file, it saves a reference file(4kb) that reads the cache. you cannot recover them from the cache, not even by changing the termination, because the qt player won't recognize the .qtch files transformed into .mov.
open the file(reference you saved before), choose export from the file menu, and choose the setting that you want. i still don't get a good quality(i know it's incredible that a stream file has a better quality...) and i still have to export the video separated from the audio. but if you need only the moving image to edit a homevideo, and your only source is a stream, it's a start.
so if anyone feel like growing the knowledge tree, let's go ahead.

JMF doesnt seem to support video crossplatform so i searched around and found Quicktime java. But from an article I read that apparently for crossplatform only Macs can send streams to PCs and PCs can only listen as client but cant send. Is this true? Is there a way around it that PC and Mac can send to eacother ? any sample codes? thanks.

Quicktime only opens minimized and won't maximize

This started happening after I installed Skype. I uninstalled Skype, but QT only shows up as an icon in the task bar, and nothing I do will make it maximize. Any ideas?

I have the same problem. Nothing that I have done works so far.
I had Skype on my computer before installing Quicktime and had no problems with until after I updated my iTunes application.
What I have found to work is to force it to pop up. What I did was selected a song, right-clicked it and selected open with. I then looked for the quicktime icon on the list and selected the icon. It should pop up with the song ready to play.

Every time I try to close out Firefox, it locks up and won't shut down unless I contol-alt-delete. I recently downloaded the latest version, but I was having the problem prior, although intermittantly. What to do?

I use Windows Vista as my OS.
I can navigate from window to window in firefox, or navigate between pages on a website OK, and I can close out windows until I get to the last one, and then it doesn't respond. I don't get a message that it isn't responding, it just sits there and won't close.
I'm not having this problem if I use windows explorer, but it keeps not responding while I'm browsing, so thats just as frustrating.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!

Having problems viewing videos in Firefox (only quarter screen)

Suddenly in Firefox 23 I found that videos would only play in the top left hand corner of the video box (i.e. in Youtube). Full screen works ok. Firefox 22 works ok but the new Firefox 24 has the same problem.
There's a discussion in Mozilla where it appears to be an issue with Retina screens.

There's some solutions posted there but they don't seem to be helping me.
The last discussion was me saying
My problem is still the same. Hardware acceleration is ticked and about:support says "GPU Accelerated Windows 0/1 Basic"
and the Mozilla bloke saying
"I think that indicates that Firefox isn't compatible with your graphics card drivers so it is not actually using hardware acceleration. Can you find out whether any updates are available either from Apple or your card manufacturer?"
The graphics card is "Graphics Intel HD Graphics 4000 512 MB" and isn't compatabile then I am stunned.
The videos work fine in Safari (I haven't got any other browsers installed) but I much prefer Firefox.

How do I get firefox to run a link to a setup.exe when I click on it? It only offers save and cancel.

Cannot watch u tube videos on firefox only on explorer. any solution?

Since I updated Firefox to beta, I cannot watch any videos from u tube or the daily show,I tried everything from resetting Firefox,clearing cookies, reinstalling, plugin,flash player,etc.

I have tried earlier versions of Firefox, and with several versions of Flash. It has NEVER worked on my laptop, an Acer. When using Internet Explorer I have had a problem with a video ONCE! This is now mighty annoying, I want to use both Firefox and IE, but I cannot watch any vidoes on Firefox.

I was able to duplicate this issue on my Windows 7 laptop as follows:
     1) Completely uninstall FlashPlayer (using your tool) as well as Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Maintenance Service (used Windows 7 - uninstall from Control Panel). Please note that I checked the box that said "Remove my Firefox personal data and customizations" to ensure that Firefox was completely gone from my laptop.
     2) I then went out to the Firefox website and downloaded the "Firefox Setup 13.0.1.exe" app to my laptop. I ran this app to install Firefox.
     3) I then went to the following website http://www.ishmael.org.uk/karaoke02.php as I know that this URL uses Flash Player (obviously you can go to any URL that uses Flash Player - I'm just letting you know which one I used). I then clicked on the icon on this page to install Flash Player.
Once the install was completed, the URL stops responding and appears to be locked up (although it will occassionally hiccup and display portions of the page and then lock up again). You will eventually get a pop-up notice from Firefox that has the header "Warning: Unresponsive script" and says the following:
     A script on this page may be busy or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to to see of the script will complete. Script: chrome://browser/content/browser.js:6551
Selecting "Stop script" will get Firefox working until you hit another page that uses Flash Player.
To ensure that the above URL is not the culprit, I used one from your website http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html and had the same results.
