Realplayer 8 with 9.2

When working in my OS 9 partition, which I do most of the time, I am having problems with RealPlayer 8 not showing some video or newsclips. I have been instructed for example that I lack Audio/x-pn-real audio plugin, which I can't find though I have found some bits of questions on Google, unanswered, w(which I reintsalled hoping it might solve the issue) function normally with all Realplayer videos, as my RealPlayer 10 in my other OS X partition does? I can't get the Realplayer 8 to do so with Mac OS 9 and would appreciate any advice on this.

Hello,
I have bought real player 8 too when it came out, i never been able to watch many things on it or it was too bad to understand the video.
I perfomed many times the plugins update and it installed them each time i clicked on update but i never managed to get good result and it always gave me a message that i missed pluggins! so i just stopped getting interested by this software and i even send a feedback to the company which never answered. this software is crap, nothing 's better than Quicktime.
Sorry for not giving you a solution just know that you're not the only one with that problem.

    I received an ITunes and Quicktime update notice on my Windows 7 PC, from Apple this morning. During the update installation, RealPlayer installed. What gives? Why is Realplayer installing with the Apple software.

    Thanks for the reply. I went back to check if there was a history in windows (Event Viewer) but could not locate it in Win7. The only updates that were in the Apple Updater window were the Quicktime and ITunes. Had I let the Realplayer continue on its own, it would have installed the Google Chrome and other apps. I let it finish installing and then removed the entire program. I do not remember checking or seeing anything saying that realplayer was being downloaded until after a reboot was requested from the ITunes Update Installer.
    I just thought it was strange since I do not use Realplayer and have not downloaded any software for it.
    I am on a corporate PC with a pretty thick firewall, but something may have slipped through.
    Thanks again for the assistance.

  • RealPlayer conflict with Adobe Flash Player

    Hello. I recently downloaded the latest Adobe Flash Player 10.1.53.64. Immediately after, when trying to play a RealPlayer Version 11.0.1 (949) file I got a warning message ‘Adobe Flash Player has stopped a potentially unsafe operation ... RealPlayer is trying to communicate with this internet enabled location.’ Having clicked on Settings I could play the RP file but could not manipulate as before — ie stop pause restart etc. In other words Adobe — has apparently hijacked my RealPlayer stuff. I need Flash for the BBC iPlayer so I uninstalled and reinstalled but got same result. Any ideas please, pref with copy to email below?

  • Controlling RealPlayer 10 with Rem

    I have a creative Extigy with the remote RM-000, and i want to be able to controle real player 0 with it. i have tried this before you have to write a .key file that converts the key pressed into an asci code. but i cant seam to get it to work with real player, as the short cut keys are ctrl+p for example. also how does the remote recognise the key file to use, does it have to be named the application name, of the exe file name or what. Any info would help or even better has any one got a working one, for real player, they could send me.

  • Firefox 3.6 not compatible with RealPlayerSP?

    Recently upgraded to Firefox 3.6.6 (told of vulnerabilities in previous versions). RealPlayer SP was previously installed but seemed not recognized by FF after FF upgrade. Noticed the download bar was gone from videos as well as any ability to download. Tried to troubleshoot in Mozilla and RealPlayer and noticed this on RealPlayer website:
    The supported web browsers for Download This Video are:
    * Internet Explorer 6, 7, and 8
    * Firefox 2, 3, and 3.5
    * Google Chrome
    * Macintosh: Safari and Firefox (Mac users, click here)
    This problem lies with RealPlayer or with Mozilla? If the problem lies with RealPlayer (I'm thinking it is) can I install an older version of FF that is compatible -and safe-? If so which one is it?

    Real is always, it seems, late in releasing updates for new browser updates. They are given the same opportunity during the Firefox pre-release testing as other developers to be sure that their products will work with new Firefox releases.
    But, alas, always the same problem!

  • If i install firefox 4 will it disable my realplayer plugin/extention?

    my question is as above. I heard the new firefox 4 is knocking out Windows media player. In the past I was told to install the latest version and if it is not working to my needs that i could re-install an earlier version. well it would not let me, so my Realplayer would not work for like 6 months, so if there is someone who has upgraded to firefox 4 on a Toshiba laptop using windows XP SP3 and realplayerplugin/extention and it still functioned properly, I'd be grateful to hear from you. Thanks a lot. Benjamin.

  • How Do I Remove an Add-On That Doesn't Have the Remove Option?

    I have two add-ons that don't have Remove as a button like all my others do. One never worked with Firefox 5.0, but it was added when I downloaded a program. The other one also came with a program and only shows Enable or Disable. I no longer use either program and I just want to get rid of these add-ons. Thanks!

    Sorry for losing track of your question and not replying sooner.
    1) You can uninstall all Java Console extensions from the Firefox Extensions list, since this extension is obsolete and has no function. If the "Remove" button for the Java Console extension is inactive or "greyed-out", exit Firefox, reopen Firefox from the context (right-click) menu "Run as Administrator" option, then try again. If this doesn't work, you can also manually remove unwanted extensions by opening the installation directory "extensions" folder and deleting the associated subfolder (e.g., to uninstall the Java Console 6.0.25 extension, open the C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\extensions\ folder and delete the "{CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-0025-ABCDEFFEDCBA}" subfolder).
    Reference:
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Java#Multiple_Java_Console_extensions
    2) The RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension can be removed from Firefox by opening RealPlayer, going to "Tools -> Preferences -> Download & Recording" and unchecking the option, "Enable Web Download & Recording". Reference: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_Extensions#Windows_Registry_extension
    Removing the [[Using the RealPlayer plugin with Firefox |RealPlayer plugin]] is another story. Either just disable or see [[Troubleshooting plugins]] to manually remove. You can also uninstall the RealPlayer program itself, if you don't use it - see http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Uninstall-or-change-a-program for help with that.

  • Error message -3221 when I try to access iTunes Store

    Greetings! iTunes does not recognize my iPod Touch, and I cannot connect to iTunes Store or obtain access to the content on my Touch. I just really need to find a way to make contact with the Touch to add and delete files. I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes. The trouble began when RealPlayer intruded into iPod downloads from various web sites. I uninstalled Real Player so that it is not now installed. I am new to an iPod Touch having received it as a gift. I will appreciate help with this issue.
    eulogostheos

    My gut feeling would be to try completely uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling. It may be that RealPlayer tinkered with a registry setting somewhere which wasn't reset by installing it.
    Obviously, if you have lots of content in iTunes you want to keep you'll have to ensure you back that up.

  • Firefox runs in win tak manager/processes but browser opens only when internet connection is terminated

    Firefox was working wonderfully. After I uninstalled and installed two applications (Photoshop trial version and Realplayer ) simultaneously with ashampoo uninstaller, Firefox browser fails to open no matter how much I click on the icon. In the Windows Task Manager, the browser runs in the processes tab but not in the applications tab. The browser comes to life when I terminate my internet connection. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling firefox. It doesn't help.

    I had the same problem and it was because of my firewall settings, which I had set to block all activity and forgot to reset it.

  • Firefox presents websites to big on display

    I used many years ago firefox but changed to Chrome-IE due to the sluggishness of Firefox. Now I installed again Firefox due to Shockwave always crashing on Chrome and I don't know how to disable it.. However Firefox presents webpages a little to big for the screen. Sometimes there is a slidebar on the underside which makes that I can access the text or buttons at the right, but sometimes not. Example: Vanity Fair.com: When displaying a serie of fotos, the next button (at the right) falls of the screen, so I can not move to the next foto of a serie. There is no slidebar at the underside of the screen. This behavior is not shown by Chrome or IE.
    I should like to have the size of the image of the websites a bit less wide. I use W7 on an Asus with a screensize of: 1366*768 with a generic driver
    I am amaized to see realplayer plugins are visible for Firefox. They are connected to the shockwave crash problem of Crome.(I can free Chrome by killing the realplayer.exe in the taskmanager. I do not know how to get rid of those plugins. I have de-installed the realplayer programs with the controlpanel, still they are there. I do not see them in the pluginlist of Firefox but I did not install the shockwave plugin on Firefox. I don't want this crashproblem on Firefox.

    Starting in Firefox 22, Firefox on Windows is now following display scaling options which may render text larger on high resolution displays. There's more than one way to resolve this problem. See the [[Webpages are large and blurry after updating Firefox - how to fix ]] article for one suggestion. Here's another possible solution:
    * Type '''about:config''' into the Firefox address bar and tap on the Enter key.
    * If the warning '''This might void your warranty''' appears, click '''I'll be careful, I promise'''.
    * Search for '''layout.css.devPixelsPerPx'''
    [[Image:Fx22layout.css.devPixelsPerPx]]
    * Double-click on layout.css.devPixelsPerPx to modify its value. The default is -1.0 in Firefox 22 and above. Change it to '''1.0''' to make it work like in previous Firefox versions.
    If necessary, further adjust the value in 0.1 or 0.05 steps. Use values between 1.0 and about 0.5 to reduce elements in size. Use values greater than 1.0 to increase size. For example, a value of 1.25 will increase font size to 125% to accommodate the default DPI setting in Windows 8. '''Double check the value that you enter.''' Setting a too small value will make everything disappear and a too large value will blow things up.

  • Audio/Video from the net

    There is a wonderful 2 minute violin piece that I can play on my computer (w/RealPlayer) complete with the video of the artist (Leila Josefowicz) playing. Can I get the audio (and possibly the video) to my IPod?

    Dumb Question

  • Assigning app to .WAV file

    I've got a dandy new audio recorder (Edirol R-09) that records WAV files onto SD cards, connects via USB. When I connect the recorder to my OS9 G3, the WAV file shows up with a RealPlayer icon. When I double click the file, my RealPlayer crashes with a Type 1 error.
    I've gone into the File Exchange control panel, made sure that WAV files are assigned to QuickTime Player. Other WAV files in my computer do show up as QuickTime icons and open properly in QT. When I hook the recorder up to an OSX iMac, the WAV file does show up as a QuickTime icon.
    How can I get my system to properly label and open these files as QuickTime files?
    Thanks,
    UW

    Hi, Uri -
    If you made the link-WAV-to-QuickTime Player association in File Exchange in the File Translation section, try also making it in the PC Exchange section.
    Nonetheless, Finder may try to open those files with RealPlayer. In OS 9, if a file has File Type and Creator codes Finder will search for an application which matches those; if Finder locates one such it will attempt to use it, regardless of the settings in File Exchange. The settings in File Exchange are used only when Finder can not locate an application that matches the codes. If those files were given codes that match RealPlayer, then that is what Finder will try to use.
    The solution when that happens is to do one of two things -
    • Hide the appplication you don't want used, so that Finder can't try to use it. One way to do that is to delete the 'wrong' program; however, if there is a recurring though occasional need for it, doing that can be inconvenient. A less inconvenient way is to compress it using Stuffit (or DropStuff), keeping the Stuffit archive but tossing away the original. A fresh copy of the program can be extracted from the archive when needed.
    • Change the File Type and Creator codes of the files to those that match the program you want to use. If the files are on the hard drive, that is relatively easy to do using either FileBuddy or FileTyper. If they remain on the attached device's media, that may not be easy to do - and may be impossible.

  • ITunes Store files don't work with Realplayer or Windows Media Player

    I tried posting a question but it did not allow me so I am going to try posting it here. I need some help but not sure where to go to post the questions or what e-mail address I can use to e-mail the appropiate place to get help so if you can help me out that would be great.
    Problem 1. I won a ITunes gift card recently and set up a account and downloaded some music. Now the I just learned the file type cannot be played through Realplayer or Windows Media Player that are on my desktop nor can the tracks be put on to my MP3 player. I have deauthorized my computer and still no luck. Can anyone tell me if there is anything I can do so I can do what I mentioned above? If so what?
    Problem 2 - If there is no way to covert the music who do I get contact and how to go about getting a refund for the tracks purchased.
    Problem 3 - Sorta linked with #2 Once I get my refund applied to my account is there away for me to cancel my account and or transfer it to a person that does have a IPOD or is able to play Itumes files on their desktop?
    Thanxs in advance.
