Realtek AC97 Audio Drivers Not Working!

Hi.
I recently had a HD crash and I was forced to format it. I installed everything just as the first time, and everything worked fine except the audio drivers. The problem is, it does actually install the drivers, but when I look at Sound Options or Device Manager there are no drivers for the soundcard. It says installation is complete and then I restart the computer, and when I try to update with MSI Live Monitor 3, it says I got the latest drivers installed. STILL doesnt work.
Does anyone have a hint about the problem? Any virus? On another note Norton discovered viruses on my computer, even though I had installed the antivirus-software before connecting to internet\network. This is what it found:
W32.Randex.gen - msconfg.exe
W32.Spybot.Worm - vsmon.exe
And some adware.
In virus description it says the viruses can come with programs but I have only installed a few programs, and it says it will spread through IRC. I have 2 other computers in my network, but I dont know if they have anything to do about it. The program will not work correctly whitch is infected with this virus, so maybe there is a chance Live Monitor got it and somehow cant get the sound working... probably not, but this is all i can give.
Tried to reformat another time but still same problem... motherboard broken??

Quote
motherboard broken??
Possibly. One way to try is see if it works fine with different os'es. If you can download knoppix's latest version (which I hope supports the onboard audio, like my new fedora linux does) and try it, then you can find out if the sound works or not.
Knoppix is a kind of special linux that you don't have to install, it just runs off of a cd.
On another note, I find that if I run live update, or open live monitor and search for new drivers, my sound is cut off whether I update or not till the next reboot.

  • Yoga 2 13 Realtek HD audio StereoMix not working

In Windows I have always been using the internal stereo mix option to record audio with Audacity from different sources.
Untill now I have not succeeded in doing so with the Yoga.
I have managed to make the option Stereo Mix available in Device Manager and the Sound mixer, making it the default Recording Devices.
But Audacity only is able to record microphone noise, although the input is Stereo Mix (Realtek HD)??
It seems to be Lenovo specific, disabling this option in their version of the Realtek HD audio drivers (v 6.0.1.7246).
As it did work with my Samsung 535 with the same soundcard (Win8.1), I tried to install that version of the soundcard drivers (6.0.1.669). But without succes.
Anyone succeeded in enabling Stereo mix on the Yoga with the Realtek HD audio card,
so without adding a USB sound card?

I have a Yoga2Pro now and found out it's Stereo Mix works great with Audacity, but ...
The sound quality is very bad, when recording with the internal speakers.
Probably the output is equalized to make the sound quality of the small speakers acceptable.
Witht the headphones plugged in the sound quality is okay ...

  • MSI Z97 Gaming 5 - RealTek Audio Drivers not working

I just assembled my rig and installed all the drivers. For some reason there's no audio playing when the Realtek drivers are installed. Audio can be played when using the generic audio drivers. The Sound Blaster Cinema 2 doesn't work as well. I get the following errors below when I have the realtek driver installed.

I just fixed this. Apparently the realtek drivers that came with the installer doesn't work. I downloaded the latest version at the website and it works. I wonder if MSI knows this. They should fix the installer cds that come with the motherboards.

  • Presario R4000 Laptop Audio Drivers not working

So, I've got this older Laptop, the Compaq Presario R4000.
It was giving me a really hard time with software with the original OS and stuff, so I decided to format it and install my own Windows XP Professional on it, as opposed to the Compaq-ware filled XP Home that was already on it.
So I formatted, installed Windows, and found the driver page for it.
I Flashed the BIOS despite the fact that I don't think it was necessary, but I wasn't sure.
I installed the graphics drivers no problem.
Installed the wireless device drivers, though not sure if these are working, but it's not significant.
What is significant however, is that the Audio Drivers provided on the site do not work at all. I looked for other drivers, looked for other driver versions for the OSs and various other Presario models, but nothing has worked.
I don't know what the problem is. I'm really hoping someone is able to help!
    Thanks in advance.
    Error Message:
BTW, I should mention what the error message I'm getting is.
A command window pops up running the following command:
    c:\swsetup\SP29873>start /min \swsetup\audio\setup.exe /s
I tried fiddling with the batch file that was running these commands to see if that would help, but it doesn't.
Still always get the same error message:
"Windows cannot find '\swsetup\audio\setup.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search."

I have the same error message, have you figured it out yet? If yes, please tell me what you did <text deleted> Thanks

  • Streaming, Flash, Quicktime, and Audio Drivers not working

Purchased and installed 10.5 on Saturday, installation caused a crash and finally got it to work today, but now when trying to view flash and quicktime streams on safari, I just get a question mark. i've read all the other posts on this, tried changing the MIME settings, no change.... those posts were not helpful.
PLUS: the install deleted the audio driver, i can't adjust the volume, nothing comes out of the speakers when itunes is play a song. is there any way i can restore the drivers for both these problems without re-installing 10.5 and risking another crash?

Try this for the flash/quicktime problem:
    Go to home/library/preferences
    Find the file named com.apple.quicktime.plugin.preferences.plist
Move the file to your desktop.
Quit Safari, then restart Safari. Problem fixed? If so you can trash the plist file from your desktop.
On the audio problem, I'm not sure. Perhaps check the settings in AudioMidi Setup in your Utilities folder.
    Hope this helps,
    Jeff

I am attempting to load sound drivers on my m2000 laptop running windows XP i downloaded both drivers on the website but i am still not able to get any sounds to work.  in the control panel there is no adio device recognized.  any ideas?

Please post with specific model number
    Locating Model Number
Have you install MS-UAA before sound driver? Install it before audio and modem drivers.
In some older models of presario the sound driver need to be installed with "a force"
Use Device Manager, right click "Audio Device on HD",choose Update driver,
No to connect, Install from a list or specific location,
Select Don't Search, I will choose the driver to install,
For the Hardware Type select 'Show All Devices'
Remove the check from "Show Compatible Hardware" and click on "Have Disk".
Next...browse to the unzipped folder and choose the "XXX.inf".
Ignore XP when it complains, Reboot.

  • Realtek AC97 Audio CutOff (ALC655)!

    Hi,
After a month from replacing my mainboard (old board was fried during system shutdown along with PSU), I am starting to experience these weird problems...
I use the onboard AC97 codec on my MSI 865PE Neo2 mainboard which is manufactured by Realtek and reported by the driver as an ALC655 codec...
It all started a week ago when I was playing Far Cry when the all sounds suddenly went dead  , I simply exited Far Cry and re-opened it and it was fixed for a while when it went dead once more, so I exited and tried to run WinAmp and listen to my MP3s and again problem was fixed...
But I can't remember exactly when, maybe 2-3 days ago when the sounds starting going dead after a few seconds or a few minutes in ALL DirectX games (RedAlert 2, Toy Story 2 , Generals, Far Cry...everything!), even when running WinAmp, it would suddenly stop playing, and clicking on Play again did absolutely nothing! (does the same with WMP), even MS-DOS based games (ex: RedAlert 1) lose sound, Yet when I logoff Windows XP and logon again, it works once more but cuts off again after a few seconds.) !!
    Here's what I've tried:
    1. Re-install DirectX 9.0c
    2. Re-install Realtek AC97 Audio drivers (original one on mainboard CD)
    3. Decreased Sound Acceleration to in DXDIAG
    4. Did a fresh install of XP on another partition with just system drivers...
--> And still the same problem !
    Note:
    1. Even when the sound is dead, when I logoff, Windows XP is magically able to play the logging off sound ! But when I re-logon and start (eg: Far Cry), the sound is immediately cut off after a few seconds !
    2. If I continue to play even after the sound is dead, I can occasionally hear the sound suddenly popping back on for just a fraction of a second playing sounds that were supposed to be played when it cut off..., but it doesn't keep that way and pops dead again..
Any suggestions ?? Any help will be really appreciated...

    Hey guys !!
--> I just finished downloading this file from MSI LiveMonitor !
    >>>> Here's what I've done just now:

--> It asked for a reboot but I refused...
--> Running my whole MP3 collection in WinAmp!.. Seems that the problem's fixed !!
-> No sound cutting whatsoever till now !! Been playing for 20 min. non-stop...

    Hello,
My toshiba laptop's audio is not working. I tried downloading the driver online, rebooting the computer to its factory default setting, and looking for other solution online, but I can't seem to get the sound working. When I go to the device manager, the sound icon is not there even after downloading the driver and restarting the computer. I don't know what else to do. Please help. Thanks.

On the other hand, when the device is missing from Device Manager, it normally indicates a hardware malfunction.

  • XPS 8700, audio is not working

    Hi,
I got this new desktop last month. From the beginning the audio is not working. When I tried installing the drivers from the dell site, I get this error. My system details are:
    XPS 8700 (Mid 2013)
    <private data>
    When I install this:
    Audio_CREATIVE_W7_W8_W81_A00_Setup-241T2_ZPE.exe
I get the error setup is unable to install.
    When I install this:
    XPS-8700_Audio_Driver_313J8_WN_6.0.1.6909_A01.EXE
    I get this error =
    Vendor Software Return Code: 3
    [04/01/15 10:16:01] logo.png
    [04/01/15 10:16:01] Name of Exit Code: DEP_SOFT_ERROR

Please tell me what to do

The audio loaded correctly. Plug speakers or head phones (not wireless head phones) into the rear green audio jack. Then the red arrow should disappear under Sound- Playback Speakers.
The KM632 USB adapter should be unplugged, then plugged back into a USB port on the rear of the XPS 8700.
Do that and see if these change.

  • System Audio Is Not Working: Error AppleLegacyAudio/AppleTexas2Audio.cpp

    Hello,
I noticed last night that my audio has stopped working, both input and output. After checking the system log, this is the message that is repeated numerous times:
    *Nov 19 13:04:03 sylvesters-powerbook-g4-17 kernel[0]: ^PSound assertion "0 != err" failed in "AppleLegacyAudio/AppleTexas2Audio/AppleTexas2Audio.cpp" at line 2703 goto Exit
Is the reason the audio is not working simply a matter of a missing file or do I need to completely reinstall the OS? I have a back up that I can quickly copy files from.
    Thank you very much.

    Hello,
    Try deleting this file: com.apple.audio.DeviceSettings.plist
/Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Drag that .plist file from the Preferences folder to the trash, empty the trash and reboot. See if your audio works as it should. If not... might want to do an Archive and Install:
    Reinstalling Mac OS X
Under some circumstances, you may need to reinstall Mac OS X. You can reinstall Mac OS X while keeping your files and user settings intact.
Insert the Mac OS X Install Disc and double-click the Install Mac OS X icon.
Follow the onscreen instructions. In the panel where you select the destination disk, select your current Mac OS X disk (in most cases, it will be the only one available).
Click Options. *If you want to save your existing files, users, and network settings, select "Archive and Install," then select "Preserve Users and Network Settings.*" If you want to erase everything on your computer and reinstall Mac OS X, select "Erase and Install." You can't recover erased data.
    Click Continue.
Click Customize to select which parts of Mac OS X you'd like to install, or click Install to perform a basic installation (recommended).
If you purchased a standalone version of Mac OS X, these installation instructions are in a booklet included with Mac OS X.
If you need to reinstall the version of Mac OS X that was on your computer when you purchased it, or if you need to restore all the software on your computer, including Apple, bundled third-party applications, and printer drivers, instructions are in the manual that came with your computer.

  • X-Fi Audio - Subwoofer NOT working in Vista 32-bit Ultimate!

<X-Fi Audio - Subwoofer NOT working in Vista 32-bit Ultimate!I I have WIndows Vista 32-bit Ultimate and Sound Blaster X-Fi Audio installed and with the factory drivers (I tried another set earlier and they did not work, so I reinstalled the original drivers which worked, at least partially). Until now I only listened to music using my headphones, but I tried today to plug-in my 5. Genius system (50W RMS) and everything works fine EXCEPT the subwoofer does not produce any sound at all!! The ONLY way to make it work is go to Control Panel -> Sound -> Speakers -> press Configure and then click the Test button in the dialog that appears (or click the subwoofer icon to make it produce a very nice bass sound - which I absolutely love, but it's the only way to make my subwoofer work!!!). Please guys, help me find out what the problem is. All help is much appreciated. Thank you!

Thank you my friend,I have done as you have mentioned (made sure the DLL did not stay there when I rebooted before I installed your version), and now I have the version which you have built. However, I am still unable to hear the subwoofer I am so sad... even my default on-board card supports the 5. just great, and I love the sound of that, but I was hoping for something better from Creative - instead, all I got was a soundcard I can only use with my headphones at the moment because of a faulty driver...
    Did you enable Bass Redirection?
Run Console Launcher, click on Speakers and Headphone -> choose 5. Speakers.
Then click on Bass (Bass Management) and enable Bass Redirection.

  • My audio does not work...

My audio does not work. it says it's enabled, the troubleshooting tools i've used (several) find no problems, and yes, I have the latest drivers.  When I start Windows Media Player, it says:
"Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly."
If I click Start, Control Panel, Sound... nothing happens.  nothing.  No error message, no window starts.  Could it be my audio card failed?

Ok, it takes 3+ days to back up 400+GB of data, wipe Windows, reinstall all my software and restore all my data.  All that drama is not worth repairing a sound card.  Besides, we need to fix this for real, not duplicate the conditions that caused it to fail in the first place.  In the future, it's best not to bring up that option at all.  (We both know that rarely solves the issue permanently.)
I'd simply replace this so-so HP before I put myself in a position to lose 3 days of work.
However, I am still interested in finding a solution to this problem.  Do you think HP is capable of solving this?  If so, I'll look for a more detailed model number when I get home.
    Thanks,
    Gary
