Realtek HD audio output - almost no mic sound!!!

Hello
I am haveing a big problem with my headset mic after buying my new pc. The mic sound is ALMOST not working useing either skype or MSN messenger chat. Furthermore in MSN the system automaticly turns the mic volume to zero. I have tried uninstalling the realtek sound driver, but can't get anything else 2 work at all!!, someone please help!!!

This may not help, but I had a similar problem with my new MSI K8N Diamond board when I was using the on-board Audigy chip.
There were three checkboxes (all on different screens) that made my microphone not work.  One is the "+20db Microphone Boost" that has already been mentioned.  The second one is a "Mute Microphone" checkbox.  And the third is a "Disable Monitor" that is referring to the microphone.
The +20db boost is a function of the microphone you are using, and your audio chipset.  The only way to know if you need that on is by trying it both ways.
The Mute Microphone was where my problem was.  With it muted I could still just barely hear microphone input if I virtually shouted into the mike.  That sounds like it might be your problem.
The disable monitor is important once you get the other two set right.  If you have a speaker system, and you get the microphone working you will probably find yourself in a feedback mode right away.  It may not be a problem if all you use is a headset, but if you use speakers you probably want the monitoring set to off.
Now, here's the really bad part.  I don't remember where all those settings are located, and they definitely ARE NOT OBVIOUS.  I had to search through all kinds of audio property and settings screens until I eventually found them and got them all set right.  It was pure luck and trial and error.  I have seen some other posts on these forums where they mentioned some of these settings, so you might try a search on "microphone" or something like that.
I have also noticed that now that I have installed a Creative Sound Blaster x-Fi card (and disabled my on-board audio) that some of those settings are now either gone or not located in the same places.  So they are apparently a function of whatever version of Windows and software you are using.  Even better.
Good Luck!

  • Realtek HD Audio: Output:OK, Input (Mic): NOT WORKING??!?!?!?!?!?!?

    Hi guys,
I am going to tell you and ask for your advice the wierdest thing happens to my 14-month old Pavilion 6300 series:
    - The PC has Realtek HD Audio built-in (on-board) and having the latest driver (I downloaded off from realtek.tw, latest is 5.10.0.5874)
    - Before I installed that Realtek driver, I had installed Microsoft UAA Bus driver for HD Audio (version 5.10.0.5010)
    - I am running Windows XP Professional SP3
When I plug in a headset (with mic of course, for skype), strange things start like this:
    1. I can hear the output sound, the jack can detect which plug I plug in
    2. But the INPUT (back or front) which is in my case, the MIC, DOES NOT WORK AT ALL.... Jeeze, it drives me NUT!!!
    3. I have turned on ALL the volume related to "MIC" but to no avail. Even the Recording mic volume is grey-out... really no-hope?
    4. I did the Hardware test, it could not detect the mic (no movement from the sound bar)
    5. The headset works well on other machine!!!!
Can somebody tell me that the onboard card got a problem and I have to buy another card???
Thanks a lot in advance guys, really

now what you can try is can try to test the MotherBoard once and if there is any issue with the onboard card then you have to replace the card.
if there is no issues with the MotherBoard then try entering device manager in safemode and uninstall the drivers once and check if its working.

  • TV off audio output possible to external sound system?

One thing i like about ATV2 is the ability to ;isten to my itunes music.
I havnt bought one yet but wanted to know if it is possible and if so how to have the TV turned off and audio outputed to my external speakers? My current speakers are not SPDIF just anolog inputs
It would seem crazy to have to run the TV screen while I was just listening to music. My TV has HDMI inputs and looks like an optical in as well.
Any comments on best way to set this sort of thing up or do I have to have the TV on?

Yes.. If you have a separate av receiver powering your speakers (even if it passes the video signal through). if you just plug external speakers into the TV you turn them off when you turn off the TV.

  • How do I make two audio clips from different mics sound the same in premiere?

I have a video I am working on. we used two different mic and camera options. One is a lavaliere mic that was too hot and picked up a lot of fuzz, and the other was an on board mic that was just a little echoey from the office walls. I found that some clips were better on different versions. so I want to put the two different sets next to each other in video and make the sound be the exact same. That way no one notices the differences in audio.
    Any help is appreciated.

Hi. Although not perfect, I'd add an audio mixer effect and adjust the highs, mids & lows on both of them to help their audio, respectively, sound more similar. Often when I shoot, my Boom mike (backup) is much fuller sounding than the lavs. are. Lavs are inherently lacking in the low end, and the boom is often too hot on the low end. So I would add Audio Mixer effect, and lower the low end on the boom slightly, and highten the low and mids just a bit on the lavs. Even taking a little highs off the lavs makes it sound a bit more like the boom.
As far as echo is concerned, you probably can't do to much about that unless you have an external graphic equalizer/limiter. Lot's of times I just add  some music in the background, which helps a lot to hide echo from the mics.
Finally if you tape/record/film in a location that has lots of background noise like, background people, cars or rain or wind or general white noise "hiss", then you should record a minute or two of the location without any dialogue. This is is known as "Wala" recording. You can add a little of this to your whole track, or just on the mike track that doesn't seem to pick up the ambient sound, thus making it sound more like your other mike.
    I hope this helps.

  • Audio outputs white noise /static sound

I recently purchased HP Envy 700-327C.
Out of the box, I noticed a constant static / white noise whenever I plug a headphone into the audio out jack from the headphone.  It is the same noise from the front or rear jack.  It is very noticeable when no sound is playing.  I have tried multiple headphones and speakers with the same problem.  When I mute the sound, the noise stops.  If I increase the volume, the noise level doesn't change.  I have disabled the mic and also reinstalled the driver. I even tried to use the generic windows sound driver.  I have an older HP desktop at home before and an HP at work and never had this issue.   Is there anything else I can do?

    Hello hppoweruser2014,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I understand that your desktop is producing a static noise from the headphone jack on your desktop, and I would be happy to assist you! To begin, I will need to ask you a few questions:
What is the Product and Model Number of your desktop computer?
What version of Windows do you have installed on your computer?
Has your computer completed all of its important Windows Updates?
Is there static emitted when there is sound being produced?
Have you updated your HP drivers using the HP Support Assistant?
Does this same issue occur with the audio jack in the back of your desktop (the jack in between the top and bottom)?
If you boot your computer in Safe Mode, is there still a static sound produced in the front of the computer?
In the meantime, I recommend following this document on No Sound from the Speakers or Headphones (Windows 7). This should help correct the static being emitted from the front headphone jack.
Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, as well as the requested information above. I look forward to your reply!

  • Cannot select audio output in Yosemite for sound effects

iMac mid 2011 with thunderbolt display connected. After installing Yosemite 10.10 the sound effects such as sending a new e-mail or text message now come out of the thunderbolt display exclusively, and refuse to come out of my iMac internal speakers. Sound for iTunes, quicktime, web content etc is coming out of the proper iMac speakers, just not the sound effects. I used option-click on the audio icon to select "internal speakers" which moves around my iTunes sound nicely back and forth from my internal speakers to the display audio, but no matter what I select the sound effects still only come out of the thunderbolt display.

Oh. Found it. System Preferences / Sound / Sound Effects tab at the top. I had only tried changing the "output" settings, thinking all output was controlled with that setting. I changed the Sound Effects to use the "Selected sound output device" and now it works.

  • MSI P965 Neo onboard Realtek HD audio has no sound

I just bought a new MSO P965 neo-f motherboard with the built-in 7-1 Realtek HD audio and I have no sound.
Windows detects it and I have installed the latest realtek driver (v1.49). Everything looks fine, but there is no sound, as if its all muted.
I have tried different speakers, but no result.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

    Quote from: Me27 on 16-November-06, 17:43:28
The other soundcard is in a box, not connected to the motherboard, due to a lack of PCI slots. I really do no understand the choice of MSI to only use 3. I personally would have needed atleased 5 slots, but could not find any (MSI) bord with 5.
It comes down to a change in technology that is happening, Me27.  6 or 7 years ago you would have found most motherboards with 3 PCI and 2 or 3 ISA slots.  Then we went to 5 or 6 PCI when ISA pretty well faded.  Over Time AGP came out and took the place of one of these PCI slots since you no longer needed one for graphics.
Now we have PCI Express for the graphics, but the technology for PCI-E has also started to be implemented for many components that were previously PCI only.  So now we are changing technology again and you have 3 PCI and 2 or 3 available PCI-E slots.
As time goes on you will probably start to see more and more boards that contain more PCI-E slots and less PCI until standard PCI fades and the next technology comes along.
It's part of changes to technology.

  • T530 Asio4All Audio Output

in wdm device list of asio4all control panel, realtek hd audio output is disabled.
it suggests that maybe realtek hd audio output is being used by another device
but that doesn't seem to be the case. what gives? any suggestions? tried disabling
and exiting dolby thingy, but to no avail. tried disabling mic, but to no avail. anyone
    else experiencing same problems?
    edit: lol. fixed it.
goto control panel/hardware and sound/realtek hd audio manager/default format
and switch to "cd quality". dunno why but default 24-bit 48000khz format doesn't
work with asio4all. maybe i'm missing something... dunno.
    T530: i7-3630QM, 4 GB DDR3-1600, NVS 5400M, 2x 500GB 7200RPM, 9-cell, HD+ 1600x900, Backlit US, WinXP Pro

Not sure it can be fixed without replacing the logic board. That is the main system board, also known as a motherboard in other types of computers.
But in any event you should take it in to Apple and have them look at it and give you an estimate on fixing it.

  • Select HDMI audio output when headphone connectted

In Snow Leopard, I can connect my headphone to Mac Mini, and select HDMI audio output when I want sound from monitor, or select headphone.
But in Lion, I can not select HDMI when headphone is connectted, so I have to plug/unplug headphone very often, quite anoyying...
How can I disable this feature?
    Thanks.

I've just started a thread regarding this exact issue, but in Mountain Lion.  Did you ever solve it?  Or, if you have upgraded to Mountain Lion, do you still experience it?
EDIT: Almost exactly 1 year later you get a response. lol.

  • Low audio output - Speakers advice

    Hi,
I am a proud owner of Lenovo A600. The only drawback seems to be the low audio output. Though the sound quality is fabulous, I cant hear a lot of videos on the internet them from a reasonable distance.
I m assuming that supplementing the audio with speakers is the solution. I have no idea of the type of speakers to buy. Researching on the internet makes me more and more bewildered of the choices, so I decided to ask in the lenovo forums as the people here might have a better idea.
    Here are my goals :
A reasonably portable speaker system that increases the sound output so I can hear it from a distance, in a big room. I have a few dumb questions :
    1) Is it possible to connect speakers that supplement the speakers of Lenovo?
    2) Is it possible to connect a 2.0 system but still use the built-in bass?
    3) Is a 2.1 system the minimum needed to maintain the same clarity?
    4) Is it a bad idea to consider USB speakers like Logitech Z-5?
Apparently, I have no idea about sound systems and this is my first exposure to these and I m thoroughly confused by a lot of terminology like bass, woofer, sub woofer, tweeter etc.. and dont really have the resources to cut thru the jargon. So guys, can anybody please help/advise?
    Thanks in advance.

    1. Most likey the audio out connection will sense the input of headphones/external speakers and it will turn off the internal speaker.  If the opposite was correct, using headphones to not disturb people around you would be useless.
    2.  Read above.
    3. Most decent external speakers will outperform any internal speakers.  Internals speakers are cheap and bought from the lowest bidder.  Right now you are using ta .1 system.  2 meaning the number of speakers and 1 meaning the subwoofer.
    4.  I cant give you info about USB speakers, but it might be possible to use both the USB speakers and the internal speakers together.  USB speakers will also allow you to use 5.1, or even 7.1 speakers systems.  More speakers the better.
Just remember to get amplified speakers.  The more watts the speakers can handle, the louder they will be.  Logitech is one company that I know have good quality speakers.  I am sure there are more.   i hope this helps.  Goodluck.

Open control panel and then open sound effects manager.Go to speaker config tab and set according to what you need.If your problem is not there check the mobo manual for front panel jumper settings. If the front panel jumpers are set the rear connectors won't work.
These audio devices can be configured so that you can either have 2 speakers and the mic and line in or for 7.1 surround sound.Hope this helps.

I get it from head phones from my mbox, but not to the computer. Before the software update It worked great. I've tried upgrading software through digidesign .com, but they dont seem to have one for what i need. any way to get my old garage band back? go from 5.1 to earlier? Or maybe it was the upgrade to 10.5.8. update? Can i go back in time lol?

  • Realtek HD audio manager vs Sound blaster cinema 2

    Hey guys,
Quick question. I have an MSI GAMING 5 motherboard and I have both Realtek HD audio manager and Sound blaster cinema 2 installed. Can I remove one? Which one provides the best sound through headphones (Razer Kraken)?

As okultis said, you can have both.
The Realtek HD audio manager is the driver and manager for the actual sound card itself.
The Sound Blaster Cinema 2 is mainly software that works in conjunction with the audio card driver to give it some more advanced features.
You don't NEED the Sound Blaster Cinema 2 software, but it's generally good to have it installed. It will improve the sound output under many conditions.

  • Realtek hd audio mic

In my realtek audio manager, it shows that my mic goes on 'mute' automatically when i press 'call' in skype. either a echo/sound test or calling a contact.
    WHY

I think this is a new bug with the latest version of Skype - never experienced it earlier. In fact it was quite funny. Expecting an important international skype call, I did a skype test call. Everything went fine. But when my actual call came through - the microphone stopped functioning. It took me a couple of hours to figure out that Skype is playing tricks with Realtek configuration. The 'Mic Volume' under 'Playback' on the Mixer page of the Realtek HD Audio Manager had got muted on its own.
I unmuted it and did a test call again on Skype. This time I heard only half of what I recorded during the test! I opened the audio manager - yes the 'Mic Volume' had again got muted! I did a third test, this time I made the skype test callwhile keeping the audio manager visible on screen. This time I saw the 'Mic Volume' getting muted on its own while I was recording for the Skype test call.
I hope the Skype team will look into this problem.

  • Audio output using Logitech Clearchat Pro USB headset sounds like chipmunks

I use a Logitech Clearchat USB headset for online meetings daily. On my previous machine (Black MacBook 2GHz) the headphones and mic worked fine. I just upgraded to a new 2.66 Unibody MacBook Pro and while the microphone works fine but the audio in the headphones sounds like chipmunks. If I switch the audio output to the speakers, the audio sounds fine.
Logitech claims that since the drivers the headphones use are built-in, it's not their issue. I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this problem and how I might be able to get it resolved.
    Thanks.

' orangehat I sincerely hope you (we?) get an answer on this one! I ordered exactly the same headset the same time I did my 17-inch MBP. Still waiting for everything to be delivered - so can't say as yet whether I have the problem too. Hoping not.
' Hoping there's an answer to your question anyways so I can get an idea of things before my kit lands (IF that EVER actually HAPPENS!!!)
