Realtek on Win7: Hiss and no mic

Running on Windows 7 - Bootcamp 3:
Even if I install the latest release from Realtek Web Site (2.33) the audio quality is very poor with lot of hiss and the internal mic (correctly recognized) do not ear any input sound, so cannot be used with any applications (like skype or sound recorder)

I found an answer to this problem
After installing Windows7 + Bootcamp drivers, you need to do a "special compatibility" installation of the sound drivers. So, after bootcamp has been installed, so the following
1.- Insert your original Mac OS install CD (the one that came with your MAC)
2.- Open the folder Bootcamp/Drivers
3.- Find the audio driver (Realtek or other) and RIGHT click on it -do not run it yet
4.- Select "Troubleshoot Compatibility"
5.- Let the wizard run. Choose the option "Troubleshoot program"
6.- Select "program ran well in previous version of windows"
7.- Click "test program" when prompted
8.- If asked to restart, do not restart yet -remember, at this point, Windows is just testing the program, so it hasn't installed yet. If you get a "restart" request at this stage it just means the program is actually ok for compatibility
9.- Back in the wizard, click "next"
10.- Wait for the drivers to install, and restart
11.- Enjoy HD music and mic!!!!!

Hi. I am one of the very unhappy people who can't use the iPad for recording since getting ios7. The apple forum is replete with stories like mine: ios6 recording was quiet - ios7 is noisy. I have tried every suggestion. Why won't anybody at apple tell us what the problem is? I have been using macs since 1986. All I want to do is record my songs on my iPad. Unfortunately for me, I recently brought my iPad-mini refurbished so there is no warranty. If I had bought it new I would be at the Genius Bar until I got the problem fixed. Did I mention how unhappy I am? Here are the specs: 1st gen iPad mini running ios7. Recording onto Multitrack DAW with a Samson Go mic to a 30-pin USB camera adapter, into an apple brand lightening adapter into iPad mini. Everything works fine except for the HISS.

I've updated my OS from a vista 32 to a 7 64bits and since then I've some problems with my Xfi Elite pro soundcard...
While listening some MP3s, the channel got mixed up and, generally I have a weird and loud noise before that occurs...
I've first thought it was a problem with foobar and its DSP but no... I still got the problem with other applications...
And when I test the channel with the audio console after getting the bug and after closing the audio software every channels seems to be correctly distributed...
I've a Z5500 kit hooked on the soundcard and I've also tried to play mp3 over the SPDIF output of the card and it seems to work fine... The problem seems to happen only when I play songs over the analog signal...
What do you think?

Sorry to bring back this old post from the dead, but I continue to have problems with my x-fi elite pro...As a matter of fact, I always had trouble with it !
Well to list all the problems I've have encountered :
The I/O console which seems to be dead then Suddely wake up in the world of the living.<
Sudden hissing sound coming from all of the Loudspeaker...<
Sudden loss of channels after changing the mode. The problem only settle after several reboots<
Wrong channels distribution with the analog config.<
Freeze my PC @ start up or BOSD ( on a vista x86).<
windows suddenly doesn't recognize it. And like the console, the card suddenly wakes up after several reboots.<
I've bought this card in 2006 I believe, and it has been the black sheep in my rig ever since...but it's also irremplacable because of its I/O console ! ( and to be honnest, for its sound quality when I've no problem with the card ).
As far as I can remember, I didn't had any problem as long I was on a good'ol xp. But I've moved on a 7 now...
Well, just to be sure, there's no way to use the console on the lastest fatalty? If not, do you know of a more recent card with both Spdif coax in/out and RCAs on it's
I thought of buying a Home cinema, but I would keep a good sound quality without laying to much bucks for it. And, moreover everything is in a small room...and my Z5500 is the perfect match for the setup of this room.

Hissing and cracking since updating

So I updated my 09 iMac to Mavericks about 2/3 days after it came out and then updated all my other apps, including garageband.
Ever since then every time I plug in an instrument to my recording interface it just hisses and cracks back at me, it's a similar sound you'd get from overloading the speakers. It only does it with GB and only on instruments going in and playback of recording of said instruments, regardless of volume or type of sound.
I've done a few things and read a few threads here too, but nothing has changed yet. I've used the old verison of GB, which is still about on my mac, and the problem is now present there too. My recording interface is a Roland UA-55, and it is fully upto date with drivers.
I have done all the usual things with GB, my Roland and my mac, re-installing, un-installing, driver updating, switching cables, sockets, instruments, swtiching frame rates and getting in a bad mood with it etc etc. It only seems to be an issue when I use my midi interface (the Roland UA-55), in-built mic is okay and havn't tested line out because someone nicked me cable.
But basically the day before I updated, everything worked fine, the next day after the update, it's now essentially unusable to me. Any thoughts? Thanks!

I have the same problem. I installed the newest driver from the roland website, version 1.5.2
Audio works fine for a few minutes, then starts cracking, more and more dropouts occur.
That happens no matter what buffer size or sampling rate I dial in. Everytime I change the settings in the ua-55 driver, the audio is fine for a few minutes, then the noise and dropouts start again.
This happens in every audio-app I have tried like I-Tunes, Spotify and even Youtube. In Garageband I get an error message about audio-midi sync problems.
Has anybody found a solution? Any reactions from apple or roland so far? I really would like to start making music on my brandnew imac!!

Generally when creating a Word file from either a Mac or Win7 pc and opening it on two different machines (either one first) it always prompts that the file is open and will be opened as read only.
However opening a CSS file does not prompt that it is already open on or from any machine which is causing code edits to be lost.
What we found from out testing:
- The file can be saved from one user to the server and WILL NOT PROMPT on other machines until the saving machine has the Dreamweaver program closed completely
- The file can be closed and Dreamweaver minimised to the launch bar but it still will not register on other machines that it has been changed.
- Also, until the Dreamweaver program is closed on the machines, it will continue to open it's saved version of the file.
Example Scenario:
- User 1 opens test.css (which is 2000 lines) and adds some code to the end of the file to bring it up to 2500 lines
- Meanwhile User 2 opens test.css as well (opens as 2000 lines as User 1’s edits have not yet been saved) and adds in code to bring it to 2300 lines
- User 1 saves his file and closes it - but Dreamweaver is still open.
- User 2 also saves his file and leaves Dreamweaver open.
- The server will report the size and last edit of the file the same as User 2 as he was the last person to save it (and if you open from the Win7 Machine it will show as User 2’s 2300 line version)
- If User 1 then open's the file again (from either the 'recent' in Dreamweaver OR clicking on the file directly in Finder...which version opens.... The version that User 1 saved! Not the true version on the server, but the version that User 1 edited and saved with 2500 lines in it.
- Same for User 2, he will open 'his' version with 2300 lines in.
Other information:
- Files are opened directly from the server
- Sometimes the users will save incrementally and re-open
- Most of the time users will save incrementally and keep the files open
- The users will never not save incrementally and just save when closing the file once finished
- The users are usually working on the files all day
- It is always the bottom lines of code that are lost. It could be a case of the two versions being mixed up and cutting off the newly added lines based on the line count (possibly).
It is as if Dreamweaver is holding a cache of the version locally and then only properly looking back to the server when it has been completely closed. It is very difficult to see how the server is causing such an impact on these files, there are very few logs which are giving any indication to the root cause of the problems.
Anyone know if this is a known issue?
Is there a way that there can be a featured implemented on the server that doesn't allow another user to open a file if it is already open on another machine?

Your server file handling has nothing, and really nothing to do with Adobe software. If files don't get locked for (over-)writing and/or lose connection to the program opening them, then your server is misconfigured. It's as plain and simple and that. Anything from "known file types"/ file associations not being set correctly, MIME types being botched, crooked user privileges and file permissions, missing Mac server extensions, delayed file writing on the server, generic network timeout issues and what have you. Either way, you have written a longwinded post with no real value since you haven't bothered to provide any proper technical info, most notably about the alleged server. Either way, the only way you can "fix" it is by straightening out your server and network configuration, not some magic switch in Adobe's software.

Hisses and pops in both Final Cuts

Hey guys,
I've been having some weird problems. Since I upgraded from Final Cut Express to Final Cut Pro, all my video (both rendered and exported to various formats) have hisses and pops in the audio. The problem now also occurs in Express. Did an audio codec get damaged or something?
By the way, I'm simply a beginner. I'm working as an intern, and haven't worked with video all too much.
Can anyone help me?

The MP3 thing does help a lot. Fixed some other files by converting the audio up front. But in many cases the problem still continues to exist, even after re-installing. For example when importing video files of different formats. when rendered and played, the sound completely disappears for a fraction of a second every couple of seconds.

Looks like you have to upgrade to at least 7.8.2.16.

BS heißt "Bull___****". *lol* "Betriebssystem" heißt imemr noch "operating system". GoLive wirste wohl gar nicht zum laufen kriegen. ohnehin würde man es nicht mehr verwenden, weil es noch nicht mal CSS2 voll unterstützt geschweige denn HTML 5 und andere moderne Webstandards. Wenn überhaupt, dann findeste vielleicht noch 'ne OEM CD von Strato oder 1und1 bei eBay. Die haben das damals mit jedem neuen Hostingvertrag rausgehauen. Aber wie gesagt, es ist den Aufwand nicht wert. Illustrator sollte sich durchaus installieren lassen. Eventuell einfach nochmal die Installer im Win XP Kompatibilitätsmodus laufen lassen...

A few days my iphone 4 get in headphones mode. first i thought it was maybe that because i was in a very hot place, the iphone could get damaged, anyway, the day after the speaker mic (top mic) stopped working as well, i cleaned the headphones jack and the mic. Now its not stuck in headphones mode, but i cant use the speaker, record videos or use facetime. Any idea?

Based on the information provided in your post, I recommend following this document on Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 7). This should restore the original software and hardware drivers that came with your computer. Once the software installation has completed, please follow this document on using the HP Support Assistant to update your system's drivers.
For the XP component of your computer, I recommend following this document on No sound (Windows 98, ME, and XP). This should help to restore the sound on the XP side of your Operating System.

Can I use my headset for "sound-out" and phone mic...

I have an E51 and the headset that came with it. I would like to achieve the following during calls: To use the headset for sound-out (i.e. as headphones) and the phone mic for sound-in. The mic on the headset gives a lot of static and I would rather use the phone mic (girlfriend complains).
So I tried this: Under Tools>Settings>General>Enhancement, I set the Default to Headphones.
Still, when I connect my headset it says "Default Enhancement: Headset" and the headset mic is automatically used.
The default enhancement settings does not seem to matter.
Does anyone know if there is a way to solve this? Is there a way to manually switch between the headset and phone mics?

Thanks for the reply. I am not using a bluetooth headset but a cabled one (that one that came with the phone for me -- I guess nokia skimped a bit here, not shipping with a bt headset).
I was recently told basically the same thing you are saying in a store, that it is not possible to use the mic for sound-in during a headset call. He also said that any cabled headset or even *headphones* will be recognized as a headset by nokia phones because they all have the same 3 connectors (right, left, mic) on the 2.5mm jack. Can that really be right?
So that means that even if I get a set of cabled headphones for my e51, I will not be able to use them for sound-out during a call?

Realtek HD Audio driver and Audio Manager for IdeaCentre K320

Hi,
i've tried to install the original Realtek HD Audio driver and Realtek HD Audio manager because i want to assign the input connectors of the onboard soundcard Realtek ALC888 on my own.
Everytime when i try to install the Realtek HD Audio Driver R2.55 including the Realtek Audio Manager my computer is installing the Lenovo Audio Manager again and again but within the Lenovo Audio Manager i cannot make the assignments.
Is there any way to get the Realtek Audio Manager running or is it not possible the install the manufactures software and drivers ?

I bet you were unpleasantly surprised by that!
The fix is simple:
Go into your system setup (BIOS) using the F10 key.
Find your device configuration menu. In that menu there should be a setting for your onboard audio. It is probably set to Auto.
Change the setting to Enabled. Hit the F10, key there and again when you save your settings and exit.
Now your onboard audio will be back and your HDMI out audio on your graphics card should work too when you need it.
What happened was when you installed the Video card with HDMI out, there is an audio chip on the video card for HDMI. The PC sensing a new sound card, just disabled the onboard sound card because it thought you didn't want to use the onboard card anymore.
Changing the BIOS setting to enabled tells the PC to use the onboard audio card as well as any others you may have installed.

With headphones on, I hear a hiss and fuzzy sound when playing songs in iTunes. Even with no sound and with headphones on, there is a hissing sound.
I never had this problem before.

Under "Built-in output" and "output" tab - change setting to 2ch - 24bit
