Reaplayer on N80

Hi there!
Sometimes when i am browsing the web in my N80 thrue WLAN and trying to open streaming video broadcast with realplayerm it asks me to choose connection type. I must explain that i have already choosen to select manually wich connection type i want to use each time i connect to the net. So for example i choose WLAN and i start to surf. Then on surtain webpages such as the swedish publicservice mobilehomepage (where it is possible to watch free streaming news for example) mobile.svt.se i am beeing asked to choose connection type. The problem is that when this occur, the only options available is the gprs connections, there isnt even the option where it says (search for wlan). As im not on flatrate, it gets expensive for me to watch streaming thrue GPRS and its also unnecessary when i have a working Wlan connection that im already online on. I tried to look around in the phonemenu but i couldnt find any options regarding the reaplayer. Is there any way to configure realplayer or is this just another miss done with the N80? I can also include that i have the latest firmware :V4.0623.0.41 and the phone is not locked to any operator and its bought in sweden! Cheers all
Marcus

Hi,
I don't know if this is what you are looking for...
if you goto:
Imaging
RealPlayer - open
Options
Settings
Connection
Network
You can change your default access point there. If you have your wlan defined, you can set that as your default access point.
Hope this helps and fixes your problem.

  • Help needed with N80 media player problem

    Hi,
My other half owns a N80 and he deleted something on his phone and now when he goes into media player it says there are no tracks. All the songs are in his track library but you have to manually select which songs to play instead of playing them all.
Is there a way of getting the media player to find the songs?
    Thanks, Carrie.

  • [N80] Is it possible to share files using WLAN 802...

    Hello.
I dont have a Bluetooth connection but I would like to share files between my computer and my N80 using the WLAN not bluetooth.
    Thanks

maybe if we could get a Symbian emulator for windows , we could setup the WLAN connection and then share files from Symbian to Symbian.
but when you share files using bluetooth you are also making a connection Windows->Symbian.
therefore is kinda weird.Message Edited by macnet on 11-Aug-200705:18 PM

  • Can I use a Nokia N80 as a modem for my G4 PowerBook?

I'm about to spend a month in Italy and will take my G4 PowerBook with me. I need to buy a new mobile phone and thought that if I buy the Nokia N80 Internet Edition I can also use it as a modem for my PowerBook and connect using UMTS or EDGE. I already have a prepaid SIM card with TIM (Italian mobile service provider).
Has anyone successfully used the N80 with their G4 PowerBook?

  • Remove Calendar display from N80???

Is there any way to remove the upcoming appointments from the home screen on the N80, i have a great picture on there that is blocked out by some upcoming calendar entries. I cannot see how to remove these in the manual.
    Any help is greatly received.
    Regards
    Craig

    Hi Craig,
You can do that by turning Active standby to off via Menu > Tools > Settings > Phone > Standby mode > Active standby > Off.
Unfortunately, this also take out the Active standby applications, a.k.a the row above the upcoming appointments.
    Cheers. ^_^

  • N80 vista x64 portable device driver

    Hi,
When connecting the N80 to USB and selecting "Media Player" mode, vista doesnt find an appropriate driver. I installed nokia suite 6.83. I remember that this worked at somepoint, but I somehow managed to delete the nokia n80 entry via uninstall from the Device Manager->Portable Devices. It now shows up under Device Manager->Other Devices with an "exclamation mark". If I right-click and do an "Update Driver Software...", vista doesnt find anything. Forcing it to use the "Portable Devices->Nokia Windows Portable Device Driver" doesnt really help either: windows media player 11 doesnt show the device to sync with.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Chris

    I would try re-installing the PC-suite.
My favorite N80 applications: Nokia Mobile Search, Smart2go Beta,
    S60 Internet Radio, Mobile Weather.

  • Windows Vista & GPRS-internet on N80 through BT

    Hi All,
Did anyone face a problem with N80 in establishing a connection to a mobile GPRS internet using One-touch Access from PC Suite (via Bluetooth!)?
The error is that PC Suite doesn't find any suitable modem (In OS modem list, a standard bluetooth modem figures).
Tip - the same phoneset, same GSM provider and same PC Suite on another PC (XP sp2) - no problem.
    Would appreciate any help...

same problem for me as well.. I can dial from the bluesoleil interface though but i prefer to do everything from Nokia PC-suite
    Solutions anyone.

  • PC Suite doesn´t connect to N80 IE after upgrade

I recently got the new N80 IE. Everything was fine using the version of PC Suite which comes with the phone. But after upgrading the the newest version, the USB cable connection doesn´t work anymore (using the phone as USB disk still works). There are no error messages. When trying to connect via cable the connection assistant just doesn´t proceed when i press the "continue" button. I´ve uninstalled all components. I started the Reg Cleaner but with no success. Any ideas (ok haven´t tried to install the old version)

Thanks for the advice. It works! But now, although PC Suite shows that the phone is connected 'Nokia 6020 connected via IrDA', I can't get the programs within PC Suite to connect. When I start Synchonise, it says phone not connected. When I select a phone, the 6020 is listed, and when I click on connection to select Infrared nothing happens - I can't proceed further from here.

  • N80-best place to repair faulty keys?

My week old N80 has developed a serious fault with the 'menu' and 'right' 'down' navigation keys no longer working. It seems like I have two options.
1)Take it to my local service centre, probably a branch of the carphonewarehouse, none of whom answer the phone when I call and will probably be unable to fix the problem on site anyway.
2)Send it straight to the Nokia repair centre in the post, even though there seems to be no indication of the length of time they'd hold my (only) mobile phone with.
If anyone has any previous experience getting a fault fixed and can suggest which option to go with that'd be really helpful.
    Thanks

the phone was a gift and cannot be returned easily
That should be an issue. Is it on contract or SIM free? If contract, get the account holder (if not you) to contact the network and get a replacement. You warranty is with them in this instance to replace.
If SIM free, take to a service centre, and they'll sort it.

  • N80 no longer connects to PC

I've been using my N80 for a couple of weeks now and it's been fine not really see any of the problems anyone else has reported until now.
It's stopped connecting to the PC using any of the methods available. First I tried reinstalling the Nokia connection manager software that didn't work
For other reasons I've re-installed Windows on my PC and it still didn't work so then i formatted the Phone and tried and it still wont connect.
When I plug the cable in it asks what mode I want to use but then nothing happens. I've also tried the cable in several different USB slots but to no avail. Does anyone know what the problem may be?
    Thanks

One thing I noted was - the Nokia PC suite supplied on the CDR with my N80 would not connect to my phone at all via the USB (Like you described). As soon as I downloaded the update from Nokia web site (PC Suite version 6.8) - hey presto - full connectivity. So, I guess check out which version of PC Suite you're running.

  • N80 home network and WWW

I have recently purchased an n80 and I am trying to get the home networking and internet functional through my wirless router. So far I have had little success. I have enabled upnp on my d-link router/modem . I have installed The simple center software on my laptop and uploaded files to share. I have setup an access point on my n80 and I have enabled sharing. The shared folders on the n80 have also been selected to share all files. The simple center software has been allowed to operate through xp's firewall. THe only thing I am not sure about is the port forwarding on the router. I have a trigger port and a public port in the applications gateway section of my router . I have entered the ports listed in the simple centers setting section (1900,49153,49154,49152). I have these numbers in both the trigger port and the public port on the TCP protocol.
Occasionally I can connet to the internet. However when I close the connection down and try to start it up again sometimes it does not work , showing 'unable to perform operation'. The only way to re-establish the connection is to power the router down then backup(reset).
The same goes for the home networking. I had no success a all on the first day of trying. Went to work. When I came back tried it again and it worked perfectlly ?? Now on the third day it is working ocassionally.
Anyone else had simmilar problems ? If so any soultions would be appreciated ! The phone itself seems to be pretty glitcy. And battery life isnt the best either. Apart from that eh !

Forget that - just sussed it out...
    I'm using v3.0617.0.6 (03-05-2006) RM-92, Nokia N80 (31.01)
I can't seem to get anything using the browser - I constantly get "Out of memory" errors, even when trying to use GPRS.
It moans something about "packet data" and then bombs out...

  • No A2DP support for Nokia N80!

I just wonder why Nokia can't add support for A2DP in the new firmware for Nokia N80ie cellphone. =(
I just uppdatet my phone in hope of getting somewhere, but it was pointless.
It would be pretty nice if i could use my N80 as a real media centre with my Jabra BT 620s bluetooth headset but no way.
I am just intrested why not, i have read som discussions in this forum and other N phones did get their uppdates with A2DP support . Or am i wrong. Am i doing somethig wrong and cant get this to work?

A2DP and AVRCP does not require additional hardware for bluetooth 1.2 and above. It is based purely on software simulation.
Nokia can support A2DP in nokia n80. but battery could be an issue. Initial prototype of N80 had bluetooth 2 but then it was downgraded to 1.2 !!!

    v 4.0623.0.41, 26-07-2006, RM-92, Nokia N80 (01)

Sorry, I didn't explain it well enough... when I said that you've got some copyright material on your phone I meant things like the original ringtones which would be copyrighted by Nokia, stuff like that. Your calendar, contacts and notes aren't copyrighted.
When I say to try closing the applications - I was referring to the contacts, calendar and notes applications on the phone. Hold down the menu key to find what applications you currently have running... if you see contacts, calendar and/or notes in the list, select them and then exit them properly using the back/exit buttons to close them.
FYI, if you press the red end call button to get out of the contacts screen (or anywhere else), it doesn't actually close the application, it just takes you back to your desktop and leaves the application running.

  • Gallery Bug in N80 v5 firmware?

Since i have the new V5 Firmware installed on my N80 it wont randomly display all the images that are on the storage card. All i will see then are the two Links in the gallery. The only solution to this problem is to restart the phone. Then it will display all images again.
I never experienced this problem with the predecessors of the v5 firmware and it really annoys me a lot.
Anybody else having these problems with the v5 n80 gallery?

I have had V5 on my N80 a year or more now and there is definitely no reduction in battery life.
Make sure that things you don't normally use like 3G, bluetooth and wlan scanning is switched off. If this doesn't work then try resetting and failing that, reinstall V5.
