Rear audio with audio usb card, hercules muse

Hello,
i have bought an audio usb card (hercules muse pocket lt), but i have a problem to use rear audio output. Using vlc player it works fine with all outputs (if it plays a dvd with sound 5.1), but with other softwares (itunes, dvd player..) it doesn't work .. so it works in 2.1 mode, only in stereo.
In Audio/Midi setup, i have configured the speakers, multiple channels, and 5.1 surround, and I test each speaker and they work fine! But in audio output list i can set only master volume, and the six channels aren't active.
Is there a solution to use the rear audio output?
Thank you, and sorry for my english, i hope you understand my problem!
Powerbook G4 15"   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I did a quick search on Google and came up with quite a number of solutions.
Best of luck.

  • Front audio with PCI sound card?

    Well, the front audio on my Antec P160W worked perfectly with the integrated sound, but I changed to my SoundBlaster Audigy Player because of the HORRIBLE audio quality. Now the front audio ports don't work. What do I need to do to make it work again? I'm not going back to the integrated.
    At first I thought that I had to put the connectors for the front audio on the sound card, but the manual of it doesn't show any of those features.

    I was wondering that myself. The only thing I think you could possibly do is have both the onboard and the pci sound card enabled and use the onboard sound just for the headphones. I have no tried this yet as I do have the cables connected to the mobo but I have the onboard sound disabled.

  • Using onboard audio with SB Live card installed

    Is it possible (or even wise) to use onboard audio with a SB Live Value card installed. I need to keep the SB Live card as I still have a couple of gameport devices, but I'd like to take advantage of the onboard audio (or should that be free myself from the disdavantages of the SB Live).
    I guess the key issue is diabling the SB Live sound but still keeping the gameport active. Is this do-able or am I just opening a can of worms ?

    Could well be a can of worms.
    I can only say that I have had both installed on my K7n420 NF1 and was able to switch back and forth, all I did was set what sound controller I wanted to be used in the sound device config in the windows sound control panel.
    Try it and see....but I am a bit pessimistic as far as it doing what you expect.

  • Looping audio with Audio Queue Services..

    I've been using propertyListenerCallback to listen for when the audio stops playing and then load the audio back up again to loop it.
    The only problem with this is that it creates a short little gap in the loop and it's not seamless. Is there a better way to do a seamless loop?

    They shouldn't change unless the read was unsuccessful. The variable you need to worry about is the current position in the file and how close it is to the end.
    Say you're reading 512 bytes each time through the loop and your file is 1025 bytes long, you'd expect to make 3 total trips through this completely uncompilable pseudocode:
    fpos = 0;
    buffer = char[512];
    bytesread = 0;
    file = open("myfile.aiff");
    while ( file.read(sizeof(buffer), &buffer, &bytesread) )
    //Set new position in file
    fpos += bytesread;
    //If we're at the end, reset
    if ( fpos >= file.eof() )
    fpos = 0;
    //If we ran out of data, get some more
    //from the new position
    if ( bytesread < sizeof(buffer) )
    file.read(sizeof(buffer) - bytesread, &buffer, &bytesread);
    The first two times bytesread will be 512. The third and final time it will only be 1 and you will have reached the end of the file, so you go back and get the other 511 bytes you need to feed the larger ring buffer from the beginning of the file.
    If your file was an even multiple of your buffer size--like 1024--bytesread will NEVER change unless something goes horribly wrong.

  • USB card reader problem with T430 laptop (Win 8)

    I have a Thinkpad T430, running Windows 8 with 16G memory.
    I have recently encountered problems with a USB card reader. I thought the reader was faulty so I bought a new one, but that one fails as well. It makes no difference which socket it is in.
    After being plugged in for a few seconds, the 'drives' the reader sets up start to flash in the 'Computer' window - it seems they are continually being disconnected and reconnected.
    Disabling USB 3.0 in the BIOS makes no difference. One card reader is USB 2 and the other is USB 3
    Changing the power settings so the USB selective suspend is disabled makes no difference.
    I am pretty sure that it was OK a month ago when I last used a card reader (the machine is about 2 months old).
    What is going on?
    Any ideas?
    Thanls,
    Michael

    Ok Mr. Micheal,
    One thing you can attempt to do is download the SmartCard Reader Driver for Windows 8 (64-bit) - ThinkPad on the Lenovo website. The path you need to take is listed below.
    1. Go to the Lenovo website (www.lenovo.com)
    2. Select the support link at the top of the page
    3. Your going to see for windows listed select the type of support you need, so select drivers and software
    4. Its going to ask for your machine information so enter in your machine type or your product ID
    5. Scroll down to camera and card reader and open the link
    6. Download SmartCard Reader Driver for Windows 8 (64-bit) - ThinkPad
    7. Follow the set up wizard and one the driver is installed reboot your machine
    Please respond once this action is performed and let me know if this happens to resolve your issue. Thank you

  • Compatability with PCMCIA USB 2 & Zen Touch

    Hi,
    My laptop only has USB . built in so I have recently purchased a PCMCIA USB 2 card. It appears that the card is functioning correctly and there are no problems when used with my digital camera, printer or mouse. However, when I connect the Zen Touch it starts working initially...the player says that it's docked and it seems to communicate with the computer (bringing files up in MediaSource etc...) but as soon as I try to transfer files to or from the devide the computer crashes. Firstly MediaSource stops responding, then Windows entirely freezes meaning I have to hold the power down button to reset the machine.
    Please, please, please can someone help me with this problem...it's driving me insane!!
    Thanks, Tom.

    I know it works properly on USB but I dont own a desktop PC to try try it on there. There was a suggestion that it may be that there is not enough power getting to the Zen from the USB socket but the software with the USB card shows the power levels and it is being supplied plenty of power.
    I am becoming more curious about what is going on here becasue now I am unable to transfer music through the USB sockets on the laptop. MediaSource start to transfer then brings up and error saying that some other application is using the Zen or something along those lines.
    Anyhow, I am now stuck because I dont have any other way of transferring music to or from the player.

  • How to install USB card in Mac OS 8.6?

    Recently, i buy a new printer. the printer only can use USB connection. My MAC is MAC 8500/1800. It is no USB port. i added a USB card. But it is not work. I find information on internet. It need installed a software(USBSupport1.4.1smi.bin). I downloaded the software. But it can not open. i hope some people can help to solve the problem.
    Thank you very much for your help.

    Hello tytom2003,
    Welcome, and Happy New Year!
    First, make sure your printer and USB card are Mac compatible.
    Second, you will probably have to re-install your Operating System in order for your Mac to "see" your USB card. You cannot install the proper USB and USB support extensions by downloading them, because your Operating System will not "see" them, will not recognise them.
    You should perform a "clean reinstall" (also known as "archive and install") from your original installation CD - or from a retail, full install CD, with the USB card installed in its PCI slot. Your Mac will now automatically "see" or recognise the USB card, and will see the need to install the USB extensions.
    By doing a "clean install", you will have a newly installed System Folder and the old, disabled 'Previous System Folder' next to it. You will not lose anything, as all your old applications and documents will be saved in the 'Previous System Folder' where you may retrieve them and drag them over to your new System Folder.
    I assume you are running OS 8.6, but it doesn't really matter. The OS CD will install the correct USB extensions. (An OS9 CD might install 1.4.6 extensions - whatever it installs should work).
    I did not have your exact model, but rather a 7300 and several beige G3s, but the procedure is all the same.
    It is also possible to do a 'Custom Install' or install by 'Tome Viewer' utility.
    Let us know if it works.
    I hope to have been of some help. It will have been an honour.

  • Does any USB card will worrk in a beige?

    Hi,
    I have a beige, which I think is a rev A ROM, and I wan't to connect my HP Scanjet 6350C scanner to it. I have 2 choices:
    - I can buy a SCSI cable DB25 to HD50 and use the scanner in SCSI mode. This configuration is only supported in OS 9.
    _ can add a USB card and use the scanner in OS X.
    Since the beige is mostly booted in OS X, the second solution will prevent me from rebooting to OS 9 each time I want to scan.
    But, can I buy any USB card from a PC shop and put it in the beige hoping it will work or I need a specific model or type to work in the mac?
    I may not need USB 2.0 since the scanner is USB 1.1 only.
    What are your suggestions?
    Thanks!

    Hello Steve,
    In general, you can install almost any USB card into almost any Beige G3, but that is not exactly the same thing.
    In general, the easiest way to install a USB card is to perform a clean install/re-install of the Operating System with the USB card in place. The Mac installer does not install the appropriate drivers/support unless it "sees" the need, which means it has to get a response from the USB port when it goes looking. You can work around this by doing a custom install or by using Tome Viewer.
    Some people have reported trouble with the Rev A ROM chip; fix is to go with a Rev B ($77D,45F1) or Rev C (&77D.45F2) - a good idea anyhow.
    Some people have reported trouble with certain cards - often some (but not all) Belkins, and with some chips - often (but not always) the OPTI.
    Sometimes these items will not install, but will work after another card has been installed.
    For myself, I have found that doing a clean install/reinstall (of OS9) using an Orange Micro (now out of business) or MacAlly USB/firewire card has yielded 100% success, and has let me use any of the "generic" - or otherwise - cards I have run across.
    Since I haven't (yet) installed OSX on a beige G3, I can't comment on how that will work in your situation.

  • USB card not working. Driver required perhaps?

    Hello,
    I received a G3 beige (233 MHz) from a friend and it has been working fine - until I loaded a new operating system. Now the USB port doesn't work. The USB port is a USB card from Ratoc (card # PFU1U0000631). This card has two USB ports and two firewire ports - all external ports.
    The original operating system that came on the computer (where the card does work) was OS 8.6. Now that I am trying to load OS9, it doesn't work - my USB keyboard and mouse do not work when connected with this card. Strangely, it does work in OSX - it just doesn't work in OS9 and in my OS 8.6 boot up CD.
    Is there supposed to be a driver that comes with this card? How am I supposed to install a new OS if I can't use my keyboard because my keyboard and mouse set are USB and the card doesn't seem to work?
    You see, I do not have access to the old OS 8.6 system tpo find the driver - if there is one.
    My computer does support an ADB port for the older style keyboard and mouse.
    I have a feeling I am going to have to buy an old used ADB mouse just so I can control my computer so that I can install OS9. (I already have an ADB keyboard).
    Do you think I am right that the card is not working because it needs a driver? Or might it be another issue? I installed it in the first PCI slot at the edge of the motherboard.

    Hello rainforest,
    As Grant has noted, as you have discovered, and as I can certainly attest to, installing USB cards on beige G3s can be a frustrating experience; there are Gremlins galore. Nonetheless, it can be done.
    To run it down, try this: In OS9 go to the Apple Menu > Apple System Profiler > second tab - Devices and Volumes, and look in the upper left hand corner. You should see a line with USB 0 above it and 1.5.5 below it. This will tell you if your Mac "sees" your card and what drivers and support it associates to it. 1.5.5 is the latest and should work. 1.4.6 is earlier and should also work. 1.4.1 is earlier still and will not work.
    If your Mac sees the proper USB drivers and support, it should work.
    The usual problem is that it doesn't see drivers and support.
    The easiest way to install proper drivers and support is to perform a clean install/re-install of OS9.2.1(with the USB card installed). This will install a new OS9 system folder and leave your old system folder renamed 'previous system folder' and leave you with the task of dragging all your old files from the old system folder to the new. This works every time.
    If you merely do an 'over install' or 'upgrade install' which installs the new OS over your old one, often the installer will see the (old) drivers and support files already installed and conclude that your Mac doesn't need any new ones. This is how you get 1.4.1 drivers that don't work with OS9. (To install anyhow, find a USB device such as a printer, plug it into your USB card, and turn it on. Usually this is enough to inform the installer that you need the updated drivers - worked once for me and my H-P printer, but I don't guarantee it for you)
    You can also do a custom install, or install by Tome Viewer, but these are more difficult.
    This should do it.....hopefully. One more gremlin that I haven"t encountered but has been reported, is that sometimes the 233mhz Mac with the Rev A ROM chip $77D.40F1 and/or Rev A motherboard 820-0864 A isn't good at seeing USB cards. (If you plan on installing multiple drives you should change these anyhow)
    Think that covers what I know..... a clean install from a retail, full install, gold-9-on-a-white-background OS9.2.1 CD does it every time for me.
    Regards and good luck......Jon

  • [Vox] MSI VOX TV BOX USB 2.0 problem with audio drivers compatibility

    Ok,let's go...
    I have a DELL Latitude d510 laptop with a centrino 1.73 GHz procesor and a soundcard supported by Sigmatel software Sigmatel C-Major audio.I bought MSI VOX TV BOX USB 2.0 and tried to install it on my lap top.Yes,I had problems with SP2 on my XP and the MSIVPS software from the instalation CD was crashing every time I tried to start it,but I solved those problems by downloading the latest drivers and the 3.xx version of MSIPVS.But...I still have a problem with audio.To be precise it seems that my audio drivers are incompatible with the VOX drivers.So now I have video but I don't have audio.Also I installed the tv card on my desktop machine and it worked like a charm(everything workes:audio,video,the old MSIPVS which I like better than the new one cause it supports my remote,has better way of managing scanned channels,e.t.c ,but I have USB 1.1 on my MB so the image quality is very poor).I did a lot of experimenting,for example i uninstaled my audio drivers(that Sigmatel C-Major thing),and installed the old MSIVPS and guess what...IT WORKED but there is no use from this cause I don't have audio On the other hand if I have everything installed then in the MSIVPS (the 3.xx version not the old one) under audio I get CD Player as an input audio device(what happened with microphone...?).To cut the long story short I tried a bunch of things and still no audio.Is there any other case of DELL audio software-VOX incompatibility?Any ideas,or solutions?

    thank you for answering me. y have no pci card working, only usb 2.0 and sata devices. also, the MSI geforce 9600gt PExp 2.0 gpu. the only usb 2.0 devices which work, are the flash (pen) drives, keyboard and mouse. but no way that the WLAn adapter and TVcapture, both usb 2.0 work.i've  tested them front side and rear side and is the same failure: if i use a pendrive, works ok. if i insert the wlan or the tv capture stop work as the 2.0 and a advertising window tell me to change to a 2.0 port, means the ports are working slower, at 1.1.  i still have the other PC, built on the MSI K9N4-slif mobo, tested them and both devices work at perfection.  i have 2 screenshots to show you:
    this, is the device manager (sorry, in spanish but you understand that's about the nVIDIA EHCI USB 2.0 controller. the 2nd one seems to be more sensitive (works worth) then the first one. when the tvcapture begin work, then fails, i'm trying to update this controller, does it ok but then the devicemanager-window freeze. i must stroke the "enter" key to "accept" / finish the update. then, fails again:
    the other one is from everest corporate edition:
    both drivers marked with purple colour!
    i think i should update this Win XP drivers, but how? the usbport.inf file (C:\Windows\inf) don't change anything. i don't want to switch xp to vista, i'm happy whit it.
    i'm thinking also on another possibility: could be an energy failure? some usb devices, like the big usb flash dives. 250-320gb, fail because the 5v/usb are receiving it's not enough. could be, but that means this mobo has no solution and i'll loose my money.
    thank you very much and i'll stay alert of your suggestions. by

  • Recording with M-Audio Fast Track  USB Audio Interface

    New Mac owner and am completely lost. I am wanting to record guitar and vocal tracks into GB and when I plugged in the M-Audio I could see a wave file when after I hit the record button but I couldn't hear anything. I selected it as the default for input and output and turned the monitor on...but am getting zero sound. HELP!

    I actually just picked one up and this is what the process is...
    I must reiterate the first line... Do not install any of the packaged software as it does not help, or do anything beneficial... just use Garageband.
    This is to record a plug in guitar.
    IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO LOAD ANY DISCS THAT COME WITH THE DEVICE
    1. Connect M-Audio Fast Track USB to appropriate USB port on computer.
    ex. MacBook Pro - use forward port (port furthest away from display)
    Also, see note 2 for M-Audio knowledge base, support etc...
    2. Open System Preferences and:
    -Select M-Audio Fast Track USB icon
    -Select "About" button and note Audio Firmware version
    -Select "Updates" to open M-Audio web site
    -Select: USB Audio Series<Fast Track USB< MAC OS 10.5.7 (or appropriate operating system)
    -Note version number of latest drive and download if
    necessary to update your M-Audio
    - Select "Sound" in Hardware row of System Preferences
    -Select "Input" button and select M-Audio Fast Track USB
    - No need to change "Output" regardless of how you want to listen to playback!
    3. Connect guitar to M-Audio box (a pre-amp will boost output, but is not necessary)
    - Make sure button on rear of M-Audio box is selected properly for guitar
    4. Open Garage Band (Do Not open Garage Band prior to connecting M-Audio)
    - Select New Project - Electric Guitar
    5. Open Garage Band Preferences
    - Select "Audio/MIDI" button
    -Audio Output select:
    - "Built-in Output" to use computer's speaker or headphones/speakers connected directly to computer OR
    - "M-Audio Fast Track USB" to listen to headphones/speakers
    connected directly to M-Audio box (use Mix knob and Output knob on front of M-Audio box to control ouput if choosing this set-up)
    -Audio Input select:
    -"M-Audio Fast track USB"
    6. Choose an Amp model in Garage Band
    - Double-click picture of amp (this displays rear picture of amp and access to settings)
    -Select: Input Source : Mono2(M-Audio Fast Track USB) NOT MONO 1!
    of if using Mic and guitar : Stereo2 (M-Audio Fast Track USB)
    7. Record
    This saved me from throwing the thing out the window... It works well now!
