Rear speakers no so

I havn't been able to get sound from my rear speakers.
I recently moved my entire system to a new room and reinstalled windows. Thus I reinstalled the Audigy software, and I updated it. (Along with the drivers of course)
I have an Audigy X-Gamer and Logitech Z-560 speakers.
I have checked and re-checked the connections in the speaker wire and checked the connection from the audio card to the speakers. I have also made sure that MDSS is on and spent endless time checking my settings, I just dont know what else to do. Oh I also tried putting the black output for the rear speakers into the jack for the front speakers, as the front speakers work fine, still nothing. I can faintly hear the rear speakers on the "front left, front right, rear left, rear right" test, but in order to hear them I have to turn up the volume really loud and put my ear to it.
Any ideas on what to do to fix this problem? Thx.Message Edited by SPYoptics on 07-30-2005 2:3 AM

Fix for rear speaker failure. I have older Altec Lansing ACS54 speakers - four satellites and subwoofer. The rear speakers produced no sound until (voila!) I enabled CMSS 3D. Here's how:
click START
highlight ALL PROGRAMS
highlight CREATIVE
highlight SOUND BLASTER LIVE!
open EAX CONSOLE
click CMSS 3D tab
select ENABLE CMSS 3D (check box)

  • Inspire 5200 5.1 sound from both R & L rear speakers coming from left rear speaker only

I have done a complete sound system check, every thing check out good. From the rear speakers I am only getting sound from left rear. When i do a speaker check, when right rear speaker lites, sound comes from left rear. when left rear speaker lites sound also comes from left rear speaker.

    creek,
You may have to check with your sound card manufacturer for special setting to upmix the Stereo to the rest of the speaker.
If you are using Creative 5.1 sound card, you can refer to the link for the CMSS upmix feature.

  • V7.0.0.70 - Rear speakers not working

Having just updated to iTunes version 7.0.0.70, my rear speakers no longer work although they're fine with all other applications, just not iTunes. Even my Creative diagnostics say everything is fine.
I've been into QT and set the audio preferences so that "Sound Output" is:
    Rate - 44.1 kHz
    Size - 24bit
    channels - 5.1 (L R C LFE Ls Rs)
...and still nothing. The front and centre ones work fine.
Reinstalled QT...nothing....Did a repair install and got the rear ones working but then had terrible distortion. Decided to trash iTunes and QT and reinstall, and now I'm back with no rear speakers
I'm running XP Pro SP2 (fully patched)
    Anyone any ideas....please.

There seem to be loads of people with this problem, unfortunately there's also a deafening silence from Apple. Maybe their product testers are down the pub, where they clearly were when V7 was being developed. Are Apple the new Microsoft ????
I've gone back to 6.05 and HURRAH !!! all my speakers work again.
Moral of the story here is "if it ain't broke..." and if you must update then carefully reveiw the forums and web before taking the leap into the unknown.

  • How to make line-in come out rear speakers? (SB Live! 5

Card is SB Li've! 5. DE and OS is XP SP2:
    ================================
I have tried everything that I can think of. It was working fine until I installed a program which screwed up my mixer settings. I have loaded the default mixer settings. Now my rear speakers only work for wave devices, but not line-in.
Is there a way to make line-in come out both the front and rear speakers, or set the rear speakers to duplicate the front speakers (losing the surround feature)?
Failing that I will have to resort to plugging both sets of speakers into the one socket via an adapter - I don't wish to do this as I had this working for many months.
    Please help.

Weird. I just installed Creative PlayCenter from the driver CD and after the reboot, line-in now comes out the rear speakers again. Must've been some system files updated or something, because CMSS is still off according to PlayCenter. When I turn CMSS on, the line-in stops coming out rear, but turning it off makes it work!!!! So it's sorted, but still have no idea why it screwed up and why I needed PlayCenter installed to change the CMSS settings.

  • Problem with Rear Speakers (Inspire P5800)

    Hi,
I have bought the Inspire P5800 Sound System but I have a problem. When I do a soundtest with the driver software all speakers work but when I want to listen to music with Musicmatch Jukebox I don't get any sound on the rear speakers. I have on board AC97 sound on a Gigabyte K8NS motherboard.
    Can anybody help me?
    Thanks!
    robertthronhill

    robertthronhill,
That's normal as music are mostly in stereo and that's 2 channel only. Creative sound card have CMSS feature that upmix stereo to surround soundfield but since you are using onboard audio, you will have to check with your mainboard manufacturer if those audio card have similar feature also.

  • Muffled sound from rear speakers (t7700)

I hooked up new T7700 speaker set up to my new Audigy 2 ZS Gamer and when i watch movies or play games i hear nothing from my rear speakers. if i put my ear right by them then i hear that there is sound coming from them but very quietly.
side front and center work fine any ideas?

That would be normal for a 5.1 system, rear is very discrete.
Use the speaker test and you should hear the level increase. or use cmss to play cd music to back 2 speakers.
[edit] sorry didnt see the bit with side speakers.
    Select 5.1 instead of 7.1
if you still want to use 7.1 then check the settings in the decoder bit and look at where you are mapping the speakers to. like in a 7.1 speaker configuration map 5.1 content to etc\
For 5.1 movies use the rear mapping, or the side mapping,
if you want all the speakers on then select the side and rear option then whatever sound you get from the speakers will be a bonus.

i've a quite old sound card by creative and i am using Windows XP. the sound card name displayed in device manager is 'Creative AudioPCI' and in sound settings through control panel its name appears as 'Creative Sound Blaster PCI'
i've creative inspire 4. sound system but the problem is that only front speakers give me sound. windows itself installed the dri've for the card. i dont have the CD.
do i need to install some app by creative to let the rear speakers enabled?

Try w/ these --> Asio4All, Nati've Instruments TRAKTOR BeatPort Player
--> install the Asio4All driver and BeatPort Player
--> set speakers to 4/4. (speaker settings on CT or Windows software)
--> turn CMSS processing (or equal settings) OFF and all other effects OFF too
--> set BeatPort Player output to Rear L/R channels and start playing
--> start some other playback software you have there (winamp, WMP, etc.) and start playing it too (this normally outputs only to Front L/R)
If you get different signals out from Front and Rear, your card should be capable least for quatraphonic output.

  • Stereo Sound to Rear Speakers Only / Dolby Digital

Just purchased a Toshiba 40S51U LCD TV.  Having an issue with the sound when connected to a receiver via the optical out.
I think the issue is as follows:  When the program (ie local news) or commercial is broadcast in stereo, the sound is sent only to the surround (rear) speakers.  Sound is great (surround works just fine) when watching a show.  Assuming the shows are broadcasting 5.1 sound, local news only 2.0.
    Signal is over-the-air.
I can switch the sound output to PCM and get reasonable sound for everything, but obviously lose the surround sound.  Would like to keep the system in Dolby Digital (AUTO) all the time.
    Thanks,
    Rob

Me again -- I'm an idiot and the TV was just fine.
My receiver was set to a non-connected set of speakers -- not sure why anything was working!  I changed the speakers to the set actually connected and everything seems to be working OK now.  The optical out on the TV was likely never an issue.

  • No rear speakers with quicktime update

Once I updated quicktime about 3 versions ago, I can't seem to get the rear speakers to play with videos. All four speakers work fine with music and any other file but just not with movies.
Anyone have similar problems and know how to fix this? So far I've just been reinstalling the old version which is a bit of a pain since everytime I update itunes it automatically installs the new quicktime.
I'm using a Dell 5100 with windows xp and a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS card

Try installing the latest version of iTunes (7.0.1.8) from Apple's website. It fixed this problem for me although QuickTime is still showing version 7.1.3.

  • Adjusting volume for rear speakers in a 5.1 surround sound system

    Hi,
I have a basic Logitech X-540 5.1 sound system spakers. I am trying to point the rear speakers to where I'm sitting, but I cannot hear much from them except in certain songs or videos. I was wondering if there's any way that I can adjust the volume on the rear speakers so that I can hear them more?
    Thanks in advance.

Songs are stereo, so use the best upmixing method.
Notice the "1" for rear left & right - change that to e.g. 1.5, to be louder.

  • Rear speakers with flash plugin no sound

Anybody know how to get sound out of rear speakers when using
the flash player plugin? I've searched online and some people have
the same problem but nobody seems to have any answer.

    All,
Are you using the Li'veDrvUniPack from our website or using the default Windows Driver? If you are using the default driver then there will be limitations. You will need to install the complete Li'veDrvUni-Pack from our downloads section to get 5. if you have a Li've! 5. card.

  • Laptop rear speakers muted. Not showing up in alsamixer.

This is my second time around with Arch.  I had this same problem before but I was able to Google the issue no problem, but I can't for the life of me find the right combination of keywords this time around.  I'm sure someone will come in here and take 3 seconds to find it...
Anyways, like the title says.  My rear speakers aren't playing any noise.  Last time I am pretty sure that I just had to type in some command and then go into alsamixer to turn the volume up on the rear speakers, but when I use the 'alsamixer' command I can only see the "master" channel.  I also installed pulseaudio but found nothing in the settings.
HP pavilion computer, using ALSA and and pulseaudio.  I'm not sure what other information would be needed.  If I there is some command I need to type in to list some info about my hardware/drivers please let me know and I will do that for you.  I know this is an easy fix, and I did try to Google it myself before coming here.  I just couldn't find anything that fixed my issue this time around.
    Thank you.

  • 5.1 rear speakers problem

I hav bought M5300 yesterday and installed it. But the problem is that, when I check my speakers with my audio driver software(Intel Audio Studio and sigmatel both) all of them work fine. means every speaker produces sound in the speaker test. But the problem is that when I play a movio or clip or song the rear speakers dont produce sound at all. only the front 3 speakers produce the sound.
    Can somebody help me out.
I have intel DG965RY motherboard and it has inbuilt soundcard compatible to 5.1

  • Rear speakers mapping over front speakers Inspire 5.1 Digital 5500

When I wanted surround on my pc a few years ago, and didn't want to buy a new speaker set, I hooked up my Inspire 5.1 Digital 5500 to my Audigy 2 ZS. The only way to do this was by plugging the different speaker inputs directly from the subwoofer connection panel into the various output ports of my card. Thus skipping the 5500's decoder/volume control device which is only hooked up to provide power to the sub/speaker system. Volumes are set on the audigy card itself.
This has worked fine for a few years and gave no problems whatsoever upto now. Even to the point where I replaced my Audigy 2 for a X-FI Fatality because I thought my soundcard was screwed. With the X-Fi it worked correctly for a day and then it went wrong again. I can't get it to work right and am clueless what the problem is. But I presume it's something in the speaker system.
    What happens is as follows:
My rear channels are so soft they almost sound muted. Changing the settings/levels in the speaker settings or THX calibration doesn't make any difference whatsoever. And the majority of the sound that has to go to the back gets mapped on the front speakers. This is also the case with the speaker test and not a dolby/dts/surround problem.
    Front Left is ok
    Front Right is ok
Front Center gets played by Front Center AND Front Left (soft volume) AND Front Right (soft volume)
Rear Left gets played by mainly FRONT Left (and very softly on Rear Left)
Rear Right gets played by mainly FRONT Right (and very softly on Rear Right)
I rewired, checked cables, (replaced the soundcard from Audigy 2 to X-FI), reinstalled drivers and reinstalled windows. I'm now clueless and got no idea how to get it fixed.
I also tried hooking them up through the optical cable on the X-FI bay and having them properly wired to the 5500's decoder device. But that was even less successfull (only getting a lot of static white noise and no audio signal whatsoever) I also read this won't get me surround anyways except for when true surround sources get played (dvd playback etc), so I stopped going down that path and have them back on the normal minijack plugs.
Please help. I don't want to have to invest in another speaker system. Especially not after the expensive audio card replacement which apparently wasn't necessary.
I also don't get it how a rear signal can end up on the front speakers. When they are seperate cables. Or is there a decoder in the sub-unit as well which may have been broken?
    Thanks in advance.

  • No sound in rear speakers with Sound Blaster Li

I have a Sound Blaster Li've sound card.. In win98 with older drivers it was possible to set the card to 5., but now (in winXP and newest drivers) there are these thrre optins: headphones, 2 speakers and 4 speakers... I use digital output and I have 5. speakers. I can li've with only 4 speakers but it does not work very good.
When i press the test button i hear the front left voice and the front right voice correctly in the front speakers, but i hear both voices in both rear speakers. But then the test is supposed to say rear left and rear right, but there is no sound. My receiver is a Harman/Kardon AVR 550 and is set to dolby pro logic and 5. speakers.

There is a very good reason why it tells you your card isn't supported, that's because it isn't,?This download?is an?application for Creative Sound Blaster? X-Fi? series of audio devices. It restores 3D audio and EAX? effects for certain DirectSound?3D games in Microsoft? Windows Vista?. For more details, read the rest of this web release note.
This download supports the following audio devices only:
