Rearrange By within a Rearrange By

Is it possible to arrange a playlist by one thing and then rearrange songs with the same value in another order?
For example, on my top played playlist, I want to obviously arrange by play count. However, when there is a tie (eg Let's say Hard by Rihanna & Halo by Beyonce are tied for most plays) it arranges the tied ones by artist:
1 Halo
2 Hard
However, I want to arrange it so that when there is a tie, the tied songs are arranged by last played. So, say I had listened to Hard more recently than Halo, but they still had the same play count. It would be arranged like this:
1 Hard
2 Halo
Is it possible?

No. That is called a secondary sort key, and is found in programs like Excel, but is not supported in iTunes. The closest thing iTunes has to it is a few hard-coded options on the Album, e.g. Album By Year. Other than that you pick the one thing you want to sort by, and you get default behavior for the other columns.
If you would like to suggest it to Apple, and you would not be the first person to do so, use this link: http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html

  • Rearranging Songs within a Playlist

    Hey folks,
Hopefully someone can help me with this...I created a playlist, gave it a name. I've got about 80 songs within the list and I want to rearrange the play order. I've tried dragging titles, but songs don't realign. Is the number of songs in the list, the issue? Had success with lists that had fewer tracks.
I'm hoping that the solution is not to create a new list...sigh. Any tips on the problem?

Open the playlist. Click at the top of the number column (extreme left) to highlight the header. Click on the song you want to move and drag it to where you want it to be. Make sure neither Shuffle or Repeat are switched on in the playlist, either of those can prevent you reordering tracks.

  • Rearranging photos within an album

    Hi,
I wanted to know if it is possible to rearrange the order of the photos within an album on an ipad or iphone?
    Regards
    Adam.

Cheers Ralph will check it out.
I have just found a bit of a resolution by creating a new album, and adding the photos i want in there one at a time in order that i would like them in.
I think holding the photo until it wiggles and moving it would be a good feature to arranging the order of photos in a similar way you arrange orders of apps on the homescreen.
    Thanks for your help

  • Rearranging photos within an album PSE13

I need advice  on how to  re-sequence photos within an album. I'm using PSE 13.  Drag and drop doesn't work.  I also tried: right click on an album >edit album. This allows me to rearrange the photos in the right screen panel but the changes do not seem to be incorporated into the album itself after I check-off "OK".  Any help is appreciated.
    THX,
    Vinny

    Please select the album.
Now Choose Album Order in Sort By options.
You should be able to rearrange the photos in that album.
    Thanks,

  • How can I rearrange songs within an album in the main library?

I have a book on tape that keeps loading out of order. I want to make each chapter a a separate album. Everything works but I can't get the tracks to load in order. Using a playlist would allow me to rearrange but then I can't divide it up into albums. Any suggestions?
(Basically I need to make a permanent change to the order of songs in the main library without using a certain criteria like date, track, album, ect. Click and drag is not working either)

    Hi fuzzer,
Have you used the Info (CTRL-I) function? You can edit all track info there, including track number. Sounds like it would do what you're looking for.

  • How do I rearrange photos within a collection?

I have created a collection for a portfolio review in my desktop version of Lightroom 5.  I have enabled sync with Lightroom Mobile, and all of the photos have synced to my iPad.  The photos are in the order that I imported them from my hard drive originally, and they synced in that same order to my iPad.  I want to rearrange the photos, however.  How can I do that?

Normally you can drag photos around in a collection and they remain fixed in your chosen order. Not sure how LR mobile syncs, but why not give it a try with an existing collection or new collection.

  • Rearrange Music Within a Playlist

Probably a dumb ?, but after I have added songs to a playlist, how do you change the order of the items within the playlist?

The playlist will be sorted by the column you select in iTunes. If you select the column to the left of the song titles (with the track numbers), you can drag the songs into any order you like.

  • How can I rearrange photos within album in iPhoto 9.5

I used to be able to do this in older iphoto applications. I have gone to View and checked manual and I still cannot arrange the photos within an albun manually.

In an album you simply drag the photos where you want them - that is one reason to use albums for organization rather than events

  • Playlist rearranging issues?

Been using Media Player for years and recently switched to iTunes.
I'm noticing a frustrating thing when you create a playlist.
I like to quickly grab a few albums into a 'now playing' playlist and hit go.
The troubling part is that randomly it chooses to lock the play order of songs.
I quite often like to manually rearrange songs within the currently playing list and save it in that particular order but it often 'locks' the song list and I can't figure out how to 'unlock' them. Is this user error or a windows version bug?

1st thing I recommend is run Software Update from the Apple menu.
Restart the computer then run it again.
My problem is that all the songs in my playlists which are created in itunes do not show up in the playlists
If they are in your playlists, how are they not in your playlists?

  • Flash hangs when rearranging library items

As some of my Flash projects get more and more complex, I
start to experience constant hanging when trying to rearrange
symbols in the library or dragging them on stage. These hangs are
usually upwards of 15 seconds, and can go much longer if I continue
making the project more complex. Has anyone else experienced this?
    Is there a workaround?
I know that you can get around the dragging to stage hang by
simply highlighting the symbol and then dragging its larger preview
in the window above the library (as opposed to the clip icon/text),
but I still haven't found any solutions to rearranging symbols
    within folders in the library.
I'm using version 8 here. Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • In iPhoto 11, on my iMac,I want to rearrange photos manually. However, when I go to view sort by, the 'manually' choice is gray. Is there a way to manually rearrange my photos?

In iPhoto 11, I want to rearrange photos within Events, however, when I go to view>sort by the 'Manual' option is gray. What do I need to do to be able to manually rearrange photos?
    thank you

Photos cannot be arranged manually in Events.  Create an album of the Event and do the manual arrangement there.

  • Full Optimization and rearrangement of dimensions

In BPC, there are times when Full optimize u2018mayu2019 create a new cube if rearrangements of dimensions gives more optimal performance. Also, upon transport, the technical name u2018mayu2019 be different for the same reason.
My questions - how and when does BPC system realize to rearrange dimensions? Is it during every full optimize?
I hope data does not get affected, but what gets affected?
In basic terms, what is "rearrangement of dimensions"?
Also, when should we do full optimize?
When we transport, does that change the technical name?
    Thanks.
    Anand

    Hi Anand -
    Part two...
This process being understood, on your specific questions:
How and when does BPC system realize to rearrange dimensions?  The decision to rearrange dimensions is based upon an analysis of transactional data and sizing of the underlying SID tables supporting that data
Is it during every full optimize?  Not necessarily.
I hope data does not get affected, but what gets affected?
Data is retained, but if the cube is reorganized then the technical name of the cube supporting the BPC application may change during the process.
In basic terms, what is "rearrangement of dimensions"?
Rearrangement of dimensions is the process where the BW characteristics are reassigned to different BW dimensions to promote an optimal data model.
Also, when should we do full optimize?
If you suspect that your performance has degraded due to changes in your transactional data storage patterns, you may need to update your current BW data model to achieve the best performance from your application.
When we transport, does that change the technical name?
There is guarantee that the same technical name will exist in the target system, so the answer is maybe not.  Please rview the folowing blog for more details on name retention after transport:

  • Moving scenes around within an event?

Can you rearrange scenes within an event in iMovie? I was able to import video from a mini DVD-r with an external DVD drive, but mysteriously some of the scenes got rearranged in the event. I'd like to "fix" the event so that the scenes run as they were shot.

Can you rearrange scenes within an event in iMovie?
Yes and no. If you mean by the common method of simply grabbing a clip and dragging it to a new position and dropping it, then no. Event clips are automatically arranged in a "time" sequence. If imported directly from a camcorder and if the camcorder stores the DTG (Date Time Group) in a manner correctly read by the application, then the files show in their correct order in the event which itself shows up under the correct year. On the other hand, files imported from a camcorder wholse DTGs are misread tend to show up in a randowm order whose Event may even be placed under and incorrect year heading. And lastly, all files imported at the "Finder" file level are sorted by their "File Creation" date. So to get back to your initial question, yes, it is possible to rearrange the files within an Event and to keep the Event under the correct year heading by simply modifying the the file creation date. This can be done in may ways but use of a simple and free utility like "A Better Finder Attributes" is probably the easiest way to do this.

  • Arrange Photos within an event

How do I rearrange photos within an event?
I can move photos between events and arrange photos in slideshows
but not within an event - they stay in the order they were imported.
    Can anyone help please?

Welcome to the Apple user discussion forums
How do I rearrange photos within an event?
You can not - events are time based and you can not move tehphotos - you could change the times of the photos to match the order you want but I suggest that you leave the events the way they are and use albums for the specific order organization you want
I can move photos between events and arrange photos in slideshows
    but not within an event
    That is correct
    - they stay in the order they were imported.
They stay in the time date order of the EXIF data from your camera (if there was no EXIF data then the import date and time is used)
In Photo view of the library (as opposed to event view - select in the source pane to the left) you can turn off displaying event titles and then manually sort your photos - but this does not change their order in the events and if you have many photos will make response time very slow - normally it is not the way to go
