Rearrange pictures in Albums

How do I rearrange pictures in my photo albums so that the slideshow makes sense? I import the photos from Photoshop Elements, but they seem to be in a different order after going through iTunes and then iPad.

Thank you, Illaass, for the suggestion. Yesterday I realized that I had home movies on my iPad that were in iTunes because I had made them in Adobe Premere Elements 7 to see on my iPod touch. PE7 will create slideshow as movies so that is the way for me to go. I will also have a lot of control over the music, titles, etc. before I export the slideshow as a movie.
Thank you to the forum for all the info on photos and video, and for letting me think out loud here for my solution.

Can't rearrange pictures in album

Hello,
I have a new HP desktop running Photoshop 7 elements on a 64 bit version of Vista
I have successfully imported my pictures into an Photoshop Elements album. When I go grab a picture to move it, I get a circle with a line through it.
I've watched the tutorial video and then only thing I noticed that was different was that my pictures aren't numbered when they show up in the Photoshop album.
I appreciate any advice.

Based on your descriptions, I have the impression that the pictures that you display are ***NOT*** displayed as part of an Album.
To re-arrange selected pictures within an album, you need:
- to create an album and include the pictures of your choice into the album
- then you can display the pictures of that album
- and then you can re-arrange the sequence within album of these pictures.
The Help Functions of PSE provide information, that can help you to get familiarized with albums (you will see there, how you can create Albums, how to include pictures into the Album, how to display and re-arrange the puictures of an album,....)

How do I move pictures within Albums?

I have an IPAD Air with iOS8.1 installed. Why, when I added pictures did some of them get out of order? How do I move pictures within Albums?

To rearrange photos in an album:
Open the album.
Touch "Select"
Touch and hold on a photo and drag it to the desired location.

I am using iPhoto 2009. If I empty the trash bin, will it delete those pictures from albums I have created? I noticed some of the pictures appear to be the same in both the trash and album.

I have a lot of photos in my trash bin and was thinking about emptying the trash. However, I got a message that said that if emptied, I would not be able to recover them. I chickened out. I looked at several pictures in the trash and noticed that they were the same pictures in albums that I had created. I compared the numbers shown on those pictures in the trash and found that they were the same as the numbers shown in on the pictures in the albums that I had created. I would like to delete the pictures to create more space, but I don't want to lose pictures that I can't replace.

yes - albums are not copies or places - they are pointers in the databae pointing to the photo in the library - you can see it in an album, under photos or under events - but it is all the same photo - if you delete it it is gone everyplace - and no additiponal space is used for an album (or many albums - a photo can be in many albums without using any additional space
Only put photos that you do not want to keep in the trash
How much free space do you have on the disk volume that the iPhoto library is on?

I need these photos, to complete the video, not to mention I don't want to lose them. I have had trouble ever since upgrading to Maverick.

Try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window.
2 - Run Option #4, Rebuild Database.

In the Grid view, *View > Grid View > Show Header* should expose the header. In the List view it's contolled by the size of the artwork column.

A photo in the Camera Roll cannot be in an album unless the photo remains in the Camera Roll. Photos in an album or not duplicated. A photo in an album includes a pointer to the original photo stored in the Camera Roll. The Camera Roll is for temporary storage. Photos/videos can and should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera.
The Camera Roll is included with your iPhone's backup. If your iPhone's backup has been updated to include all photos that were in the Camera Roll and has not been updated since the photos were deleted, you can try restoring your iPhone from your iPhone's backup. Do not update your iPhone's backup before doing so and decline the prompt to update your iPhone's backup as the first step after selecting Restore.

Organize pictures in album ascending order

How can we put the pictures to the most recent first in the album?
Some of my albums are ok but some the old pictures are first , I tried to go highlight all pictures in album go to view/sort all projects view
but the option by ascending order is not available .what should I do?

In browser mode (view-browser or hit the V key until it shows) there is a drop down menu at the top left of the browser pane. Hit image date then use the arrow to the right of the drop down to choose your preference

What app will organize pictures and albums on the ipad according to date and alphabetize?

We have thousands of pictures and albums on our Ipad and need an app with a "go to" feature we can enter the name or date the photo was taken. We would like to date and name the pictures in the future with the app feature. Any suggestions?

You can actully create your own folders on the Ipad in your photo area. There should be a little plus at the top and you can drag each photo and video in one by one. THere is also Photo Sort for the Ipad (App) Hope this helps. Please check out my website: www.applesupports.webs.com

Welcome to the community,
You could try connecting your handset to a PC and then transfer the files on to it, from here you can clear the cache and data from the Album app.
Menu > settings > Apps > All > Album > Clear Cache/Data
Let us know how you get on.

Thanks to a Youtube video, I did find a way to rearrange photos in our Photo App, but it requires making one or more of your own albums. You still can't rearrange photos inside of the albums that you have sync-ed from iTunes. Once you make a new Album, the iPad will automatically ask you which of the photos you want to add to this new album. Once you complete this process, view the photos in the new album...then select the Edit button in the upper right that looks like a box with an arrow coming out of it. Now just touch a photo and pause for a second. It will enlarge slightly and you can now slide it around. Click DONE in the upper right when you are finished.
Another way of viewing photos in a custom order involves using Dropbox. Place photos in your "Favorites" area and you can reorder to your heart's content. I know this has nothing to do with the sync-ed photos, but it is another method....
In the end we are still stuck with whatever order iTunes places the photos in our sync-ed Albums.

Pictures in albums are not staying in given order

I've made an album from several pictures I've uploaded to iPhoto '11 (version 9.1.5) and plan to continue adding to it throughout the year. I want the pictures to be in a specific order, but it seems that whenever I quit the program, the next time I log in, they've rearranged themselves randomly.
Is there a way to set a specific order for pictures in an album and have them stay that way?

When and how did this happen? What were you doing, when you first noticed, that your photos are missing? Were you installing or upgrading software? Running maintainance scripts, cleaner applications? Importing new photos? Or did iPhoto crash all of a sudden? Has the size of your photo library changed? Is iPhoto the only program that is having trouble?
Does your iPhoto Library still contain your photos? Quit iPhoto, select the iPhoto Libary in the Finder (by default it is in your "Pictures" folder), ctrl-click the library and select "Show package contents" from the pop-up menu. In the Finder window that opens, look for folders named "Masters","Previews, "Originals", "Modified". Do you see any image files inside the subfolders of these folders?
If your photos are still inside your photo library, then try to repair rebuild the library. Check, if you have a backup of your iphoto library, before you rebuild; if not, make first a backup.
Then launch the library first aid panel by firmly pressing and holding the ⌥⌘-keys, while double clicking the iPhoto icon . Hold the keys down, until you see the panel. Then select "Rebuild database" from the panel.

Pictures in albums vs moments

I have Photos downloading my iPhone pictures. Previously (in iPhoto) I was able to take these pictures, separate them and put them in a relevant event and that was it. I never checked the "all photos", now everything is in "moments". How can I break these photos up and put them into the relevant album without duplicating or missing any?
Not sure if I'm explaining it right...
Previously...say I took pictures at a holiday party and then a birthday party on my phone. They would automatically download into a photo stream folder in iPhoto. I could go into that and separate the two parties and now have two events.
Now...
I have to go into my photo stream folder and add both parties to two new albums, but I can have a picture in multiple albums, how can I make sure I don't have duplicates like that or miss one?
Just not ready for this change...why get rid of events?

Events aren't gone, they are in the sidebar under Albums, but they are no longer a primary organizer. It seems to me as well to be more difficult to create albums with the correct content.
