Rearranging Roboform and Google Toolbars to take up less space.

I use both the Roboform and Google toolbars which appear below the usual Firefox toolbars. One is on top of the other. With Internet Explorer, the toolbars can be 'unlocked" and I'm able to drag the lowest of the two up onto the same line as the other which gives me more viewing area on my laptop monitor. I cannot figure out how to do this with Firefox as the toolbars don't seem to be dragable. Is it even possible to do this with Firefox?

Unlike IE where you can drag an entire toolbar, when you're customizing toolbars in Firefox you move each toolbar item individually.
https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Navigation+Toolbar+items
The ability to move addon toolbar items has to be built into the addon toolbar, not every addon toolbar includes that ability. The Google Toolbar has that ability, but I don't use Roboform so I don't know what is possible with it. You'll have to experiment with it in the toolbar Customize mode and see what's possible.
Don't worry about breaking Firefox, if you make a mistake or don't like the results you can go into the Profile folder and delete the localstore.rdf to start all over again with toolbar modifications.

  • Firefox 3.6.8 crashes when accessing Add-on Manager and Google Toolbar (v 7.1.20100723W) is enabled

Well, as I said, Firefox 3.6.8 crashes when accessing Add-on Manager and Google Toolbar (v 7.1.20100723W) is enabled. This is on a 2010 white unibody macbook. I have a google toolbar, and all of a sudden, it keeps saying that it can't communicate with the toolbar. Now, I can't even uninstall it because whenever I go to the add on manager, it says there's an 'unresponsive script'. Could anyone help me? Thanks.

I fixed it by running in Safe Mode, and uninstalling Personas. Thanks again!

  • Why do i get chrome and google toolbar?

    Hello,
This morning flash asked me to update to the latest flashplayer. After clicking "download", explorer starts and on the site there is a button "update". After clicking on the button, not only flash gets updatet. Chrome and google toolbar is also installed... Why? There is no checkbox to prevent this.. Why?
Why is adobe doing this? When you install chrome... you don't need google toolbar..right? Please make a checkbox for the next update. Now i have to uninstall google toolbal..again..

The screenshot you posted is a screenshot of the installation of flash on a computer without flash.
I was talking about a update, I already had flash installed but i got a notification from the program that a update was availible.
I updated te program, how do i make a screenshot? It's not possible to update it again.
I'm sure there was no checkbox. The whole page was different from the screenshot you posted. For example the yellow butten didn't say 'download now' but 'update'.
I just don't understand why adobe wants to install google toolbar on my computer. Chrome i can live with, but google toolbar is a stupid programm.

  • Windows 7. Dowload complete, but when I click on icon, I only get a google homepage and google toolbar. Never a Firefox page or toolbar.

I installed Firefox successfully yesterday. But when I click on the icon, the only page that comes up is a google home page with a google toolbar. No firefox visible at all as page or toolbar. Can't figure it out. Current browser in Explorer and I have a windows 7 operating system on a desktop.

    Hi druddock,
Is Firefox in fullscreen mode? Try hitting F11 to see if the toolbar and navigation bar are just hidden. If you see a small ''Firefox'' button in the corner, hit ''Alt'' and go to ''view > toolbars'' and enable the ''Navigation toolbar'' and the ''Bookmarks toolbar''. The [[Back and forward or other toolbar items are missing]] article also has some good information in it.
You should take a look at the Knowledge Base article [[How to set the home page]] and try setting your homepage to ''about:home''. This is the default Firefox homepage.
If that doesn't work you should look at the article [[Preferences are not saved]]. If you've upgraded from 3.6, you might also want to look at [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/common-questions-after-upgrading-firefox-36#os this article with common questions after upgrading].
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Flash and google toolbar

I would like to know how much adobe sold its soul for by
putting in google toolbar in the install for flash player. There
wasn't even a checkbox to not install. This is walking the edge of
MALWARE. I do not want google toolbar on my computer but it
    installed without notice.
Anybody out there feel the same and have a way to install
without the toolbar? I have uninstalled the toolbar but I fear that
the soul selling of adobe will creep into other products. What is
next, you can't install adobe photoshop (retail) without first
    installing the google toolbar.

    ashobe,
    > I would like to know how much adobe sold its soul for by
    > putting in google toolbar in the install for flash
    player.
This was a heavy issue in the forums when it first happened,
    but it's
been quite a while (years, now). I think it might have even
    been Macromedia
that did the soul-selling, if that's what it is.
    > There wasn't even a checkbox to not install.
What URL were you using? After the initial protest, years
    ago, the
Google toolbar was made optional. I haven't seen it as
    non-optional since.
    > Anybody out there feel the same and have a way to
    install
    > without the toolbar?
I just did it the other day, for testing. I selected the
    checkbox that
    included the toolbar.
    > What is next, you can't install adobe photoshop (retail)
    without
    > first installing the google toolbar.
That's a pretty big leap, since Flash Player is free and
    Photoshop
    isn't, and doesn't run in a browser.

  • I have just upgraded to Firefox 5 and google toolbar doesn't work anymore. How can I go back?

    What details?
''locking - asked & answered multiple time - moderator''

Thats because the old installed version of googletoolbar has a file named install.rdf that declares the max supported version of firefox to be 4.0.
To fix this ,just open the install.rdf file with notepad and change maxVersion from 4.0.* to 6.* (see the image i've also uploaded)
Now, in order to find the correct install.rdf file do the following:
Go to folder : C:\Users\[your user name here]\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[sometext].default and search for the install.rdf file (im using windows 7)
Windows search will find many install.rdf files (one for each addon you have installed on firefox) so make sure that you find the install.rdf that has the line
    Google Toolbar for Firefox
in it. For this install.rdf file just rename the max version as stated above , restart firefox..and vuala! Google toolbar is back!

  • Eimails from hotmail origin are not delivered to me and Google Toolbar is incompatable with Firefox.

Emails to me *****@prodigy.net originating from a hotmail e-mail account are not being delivered.
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 553 553 5.3.0 flpd121 DNSBL:ATTRBL 521< 74.125.83.196 >_is_blocked.__For_information_see_http://att.net/blocks (state 13).
Also, Google toolbar is incompatible with Firefox.I lost all my bookmarks.

Hi, you seem to have several (different) issues...
    * The e-mail issue is, as the e-mail states, of the sole responsibility of the other email provider (in this case, prodigy.net). Firefox has nothing to do with this, and I don't think I can help you with this particular issue. If you own this domain or have an IT team behind the prodigy.net domain, I suggest you contact them, because this domain seems to be blacklisted by ATT.
    * Regarding lost bookmarks, you can try the suggestions at our support article [[Lost Bookmarks]]
    * Regarding Google Toolbar, you can enable it by following the instructions in the section "Forcing addons to work by installing the Addon Compatibility Reporter" in the article [[Add-ons are disabled after updating Firefox]] .
    I hope this helps :D

  • Why is Adobe forcing downloads of Chrome and Google Toolbar?

Before someone states there is an option, I was given absolutely no option to decide to accept Google Chrome or Google Toolbar. I am forced to use Adobe reader from a Pearson
because of classes. I go to the download link, click run. And there you go, Adobe downloads Adobe Reader, Google Tool Bar, and Google Chrome.
I do NOT want this crap on my computer.
Now I have to go uninstall this. If I wanted Google Chrome or ANY toolbar I would download it myself. Forcing anyone to download software with no option is a stupif PR move.
Its only going to make people angry.

If you download Adobe Reader from http://get.adobe.com/reader/ there is a checkbox to remove optional software from the download.
If you download Adobe Reader from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/ there is no bundled software with it.
Lots of companies offer bundled software with free products; it is usually your choice to refuse the offered 3rd party software.

  • Yahoo toolbar and google toolbar enter in google search, appears in yahoo search, like they are connected

Yesterday the aps for my older yahoo toolbar would not open after loading the latest version of Firefox. I had to reload the yahoo toolbar. Now when I use the Google search field, and hit search, the same typed words from the google search field appear in the yahoo search box. Also the menu bar now has Yahoo on it. I would like it to go away.
    Thanks, Jay

I visited Google's toolbar download site and reinstalled the toolbar -- now I can select from the Google search drop down menu as before. running Firefox 4.0.1 and Windows XP

  • I have poor eyesight, thats why I use FF, but how can I enlarge icons in FF and Google toolbars in FF5?

I've had FF5 2 days - OK, but preferred FF3, because the icons are too small, especially Gmail on Google bar. Reload page arrow is too small - and in wrong place!
I have new add-on which enlarges text on toolbars to 24. That's the size I use to browse too, using Contr. & mousewheel.
I've seen the instructions on how to make icons smaller, but not larger. I've taken off a lot of icons, hoping the others would grow

  • Converting AIFF files to take up less space

Hi--I recently converted about 50 songs from old cassette tapes to export into iTunes. I used Audacity which went pretty smoothly. I did not realize when converting all the aup files from Audacity to aiff files for exporting that they were such large files. A 4 minute song took up about 40MB. I didn't realize this until all was exported to iTunes and then synced to my iPhone. 50 songs ate up almost half the available space!
Is there an easy way to go back and convert the aiff files to a smaller format that won't compromise the quality too much? I assume I can then re-sync after deleting the aiff files to get some of my space back on the phone? Thanks for any suggestions...

You can use iTunes to convert any copy protection free songs in your library another format. When you convert a song in iTunes it will be converted to the format that you have set to import your CDs in. Converting creates a second copy of the song in the format you have chosen which gives you the opportunity to either keep or delete the original. Go to iTunes>Preferences>General and click on Import Settings,, Change your Import format to AAC Encoder for example and choose the Setting or "bit rate" you want (the default setting iTunes Plus will give you a bit rate of 256kbps). Go back to your library and highlight the songs you want to convert and go to the Advanced menu at the top of your iTunes window and choose "Create AAC version": iTunes: How to convert a song to a different file format

  • No opt-in for Google Chrome and Chrome Toolbar in Flash Player update???!!!

Who gave you the right to force users to install Chrome and the Chrome Toolbar WITHOUT THEIR KNOWLEDGE?  Did it ever occur to you that your customers might have GOOD REASON not to want to install Chrome and the Chrome Toolbar, OR ANY OTHER SOFTWRE YOU FOIST UPON THEM WITHOUT NOTIFICATION IN A FLASH PLAYER UPDATE!!!???  This is the height of arrongance. From this point on I will NEVER trust an Adobe update. And, if I can find it, I'll also use other vendor's software products.  I've been a BIG Adobe fan since I first started using your products in 1988.  NOT ANYMORE!!!  I've read and ignored the ever-growing chorus of Adobe customers who have become disenchanted with your software and your business practices, believeing that this was the ramblings of a minority of your customers.  But after this morning's forced installation of Google Chrome and Google Toolbar I realize that these customers are correct in their assessment of your company.  Consider me one less satisfied customer who will be telling the proverbial 13 people how utterly dissatisfied I am with your business practices.

    Hi Bill,
Unfortunately I don’t have any answers.  My story is exactly the same as yours.  In fact I kept getting Google Chrome d/loaded on to my system and didn’t know how… I’d never sought it.
Yesterday Flash Player wanted to update… and just in the course of installing, I noticed that it was also installing Chrome & Toolbar so I cancelled the installation.
To me it is the height of arrogance that a company can attached to its download something which you do not want and have no choice in having…
The only thing I can think of… and don’t have time today… is to contact Adobe and give them a serve.  However, this may not change things either… could be that they have sold ‘attachment rights’ to Google for Chrome/Toolbar… who would know… they should however give the right to refuse.
Similarly I have a Nokia Windows Phone… the updating/sync software required for this is  “Zune”.  It downloads a whole pile of Apple stuff, “Bonjour, ITunes, Apple Software Support, Apple Updater…(all 280 MB of Apple),  whole host of things which I just don’t want or need on my computer… just bugs the hell out of me.. again, no choice, no check boxes.  I don’t do “Apple”.. I hate the way that they push advertising… “this email sent by my iPhone”… who gives a…. rats?  Don’t get me started… so many things, even down to car purchase and service… they stick their promo stickers all over your vehicle or rego plate… never ask if you want them or not. If I lent/gave objection to everything which bugs me about denigrating ones’ personal choice/privacy… I’d be writing a tome! J

is any search engine toolbar?…I have read yahoo is crashing as well

Okay, this is a great way to do it. First start up Firefox in Safe Mode. On a windows, press alt when Firefox starts. On a Mac, press and hold alt and command while the Firefox icon bounces. Then, click on continue with safe mode. Go to the addons thingy, and don't disable Personas, UNINSTALL IT. Because then it takes the problem off completely. There you go. The problem is solved on Windows and Mac.
