Reaser 8.2 .msi missing, cant uninstall

Hi
I recently rolled pc back to a restore point then forward again, since then, reader hasn't worked correctly. (XP SP3)
My PDF files aren't associated correctly, windows acts as if it doesn't have a program for them. none of my browsers will open pdf's but if I launch reader to open one from the open file menu it works OK.
In the program files/adobe/ directory there are "reader 8" and "reader 8(2)" folders.
if I try to repair or uninstall from either reader or in the add/remove software windows app, it looks for AdbeRdr820_en_US.msi, which I have not been able to find with a PC search.
I HAVE been able to install reader 9, althogh this did also look for the same file, it continued OK when I pressed cancel, now all seems to be working fine, but still have reader 8.2 on PC as well with the bits of files and reg keys etc.
Is there some kind of cleanup uninstaller app that doesnt require the msi??
Thanks

In my opinion, you should get MS Windows Instal Clean Up, use it to remove everything related with Reader, restart, and properly install the Reader version you want.

    Can somebody help my please??

Glad you got things working again.
Were you able to track down a working download site for version 3.0, or did you have to try a 2.5? (Download sites for 3.0 seem to be as rare as hen's teeth, now.)

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • Cant uninstall or install firefox

I got a virus in firefox browser, i cleaned it with spybot search and destroy, now i cant do anything with firefox, i cant uninstall it to reinstall it, it wont let me do anything, what can i do?

Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
Please report back to see if this helped you!

  • I cant uninstall my itunes off my computer, i have followed instructions and i still have errors, including error 2330 and redundance cyclic. the only software i have left is itunes.exe and file es.lproj which is located in the ituneshelpresources folder

I cant uninstall my itunes off my computer, i have followed instructions and i still have errors, including error 2330 and redundance cyclic. the only software i have left is itunes.exe and file es.lproj which is located in the ituneshelpresources folder. i recently installed a second hard drive and that let me uninstall everything. I just want to get itunes off my computer and reinstall itunes, i have deleted everything i can and i ran "chkdsk" this did nothing. I would have just updated the oild itunes to the newest version but it didnt ley me do that. installing/ uninstalling or deleting just lets me get half way and shows me these errors. Please help, thank you.
    JPHowarth

the only software i have left is itunes.exe and file es.lproj which is located in the ituneshelpresources folder.
If the chkdsk isn't fixing the damage, and those are the only iTunes that can't be deleted, try renaming the "iTunes" folder that they are contained in (in your Program files) to iTunesOLD.
Now try another install. Does it go through without the 2330 this time?

  • Cant uninstall searcgqu

I cant uninstall searchqu/com, which has taken over my firefox as an unwanted home page

Do a malware check with some malware scan programs. You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database before doing a scan.

To uninstall apple software update you need to download Microsoft Fix It fromhttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301. my daughter destroyed the hard drive on my laptop so I cant uninstall so how do I replace it on a new laptop. I already have it running on my desktop pc.

How you do it depends on which version you are asking about.  If it is a licensed version then you need to contact Adobe support using chat and ask them to reset your activations.  If it is a Cloud subscription then you should be able to install on the new machine and when you sign in it should automatically sign out of other installations.
