Reason 4 levels quiet in logic???

I am using Reason 4 and logic together. When using a redrum, subtractor, etc... from Reason I can never get any volume out of them when rewired to Logic.
For example: I tried a couple kick samples playing a pattern in redrum and in the logic mixer it they are only peaking at -15 to -20 dBs and that is with the sample level turned up to 127 on the redrum, any have this problem or know a fix??
When I play a logic instrument or load up a loop they show up on the mixer peaking anywhere from -5dbs to 0dbs depending on the instrument/loop etc... So i don't know why reason does not do the same...I rewire reason to logic by creating a aux strip in the mixing board and set the input on the strip to reason.
Any help is very much apprecaited
thanks

Are you also using the mixer in Reason? Check levels there, too. And then learn how to do it without the Reason mixer. Props have an easy to follow walkthrough on their site http://www.propellerheads.se/substance/rewirehelp/index.cfm?fuseaction=getarticle&article=logic80 it shows first with the mixer and then without. And like Erik said, make sure the levels on the Redrum are all ginger peachy, too. Use prefader metering to confirm levels are good.
Reason sounds better rewired into Logic than it does by itself, without any enhancements or EQ.

  • Why is my SP/DIF input quiet in Logic Pro?

Can anyone please suggest why my drums, inputted via SP/DIF are really quiet in Logic Pro 9.1.3?
The strange thing is that their volume looks healthy in and out of my Fireface 800 software mixer panel (Fireface 2.62, Fireface Mixer E2A) it's dancing about in the middle of the meter strip - but the signal arriving in Logic from there is really quiet, down in the bottom 5-8% of the strip with the slider set at 0DB.
If I apply a 12DB Gain insert in Logic, the level in the Fireface mixer out is on the border of clipping and yet the drum track is still way too low in the mix.
All other levels in and out are fine, from analogue and software instruments. I'm using a Logic Pro 9.1.3, Fireface 800, Mac Pro 2 x 3.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, 8GB RAM, OS X 10.6.6, Roland TDW20 Expanded V-Drums. The drum signal is synced at 44.1Khz and that's the only signal path from them to Fireface and Logic.
    Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Thanks, it's so kind of you to help. Yes, set to + 4db. I'm going to try updating all the software the Fireface driver and software, and going from OS X 10.6 to 10.8, then Logic.

PO HEADER LEVEL의 TOTAL AMOUNT 계산 LOGIC
    ==========================================
    PURPOSE
Purchase Order 화면의 Header level에 보여주는 Total Amount 계산 logic을
    알아본다.
    Explanation
Purchase Order 화면에서 PO를 입력하거나 조회해 본 사람은 PO Header level
    있는 maintain_po_total이 불려진다.
이 maintain_po_total procedure는 line amount를 뿌려주기 위해 line에
    정의된 quantity와 price를 고려한다.
이 line amount sum 되고, header total에 뿌려준다.
    sum(round((quantity*unit_price),precision))-> Header_total
    2.PO를 query 할 때 header amount를 조회하기 위해 POXCOCOB.pls의
    po_core_s.get_total procedure가 불려진다.
아래의 query가 PO header level total amount 계산을 하게 된다.
    SELECT sum(round((pll.quantity - nvl(pll.quantity_cancelled,0))*
    nvl(pll.price_override,0),x_precision))
    FROM PO_LINE_LOCATIONS PLL
    WHERE PLL.po_header_id = <<po_header_id>>
    AND PLL.shipment_type in ('STANDARD','PLANNED','BLANKET')
여기에서 precision은 PO.(PO Currency = Functional Currency)에서 사용
    되는 것으로 fnd_currencies에 정의된 currency이다.
    Example
    Reference Documents
    Note 226697.1

    Thought so.
    And therein lies your problem.
You should avoid updating Oracle tables directly unless you are 100% sure that no relationships are getting violated.
Updating po line price should be done via interface. I would suggest that you use the po documents interface to change the po line prices. Then you will see the header totals get updated automatically.
    Hope this answers your question

  • Loaded Instruments Too Quiet in Logic Pro X

    Hi,
    Firstly here is my setup:
    Mac
    iMac 21.5-inch, Late 2012
    3.1GHz Intel Core i7
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 512 MB
    OS X 10.9.4
    Logic
    Logic Pro X
    Version 10.0.7
I use Logic with Kontakt and PLAY for loading different sample libraries.
    PLAY version 4.1.8
    Kontakt version 5.3.1.37
(As far as I know; all of this is as up to date as it can be as of the time of writing)
    Now the problem:
Very simply put, instruments seem to be loading from either Kontakt or PLAY at low volumes, when they never have before. The reason I have asked this question in a Logic forum is because I have started to notice Logic only instruments doing the same thing. For example, the default software instrument: Classic Electric Piano, nearly always loads quietly. I have to select another instrument, then go back to the Classic Electric Piano for it to load at the correct volume.
Now to expand on this issue, I notice that the levels of the track indicated in Logic are still at a reasonable volume - and supposedly as high/loud as other instruments. But when I play notes on the quieter track the output volume through my iMac's builtin speakers is extremely low. In order to counteract this, I have been turning up the volume for these quiet tracks in the mix, as well as adding compression to increase the volume - but the downside of this is that the overall quality of the instrument is lost because it also turns up all the other things in the track (i.e. natural reverb, feedback and fuzziness) that would normally be unheard when the instrument plays at the correct volume.
I hope I have explained this well enough. It is hard to describe what happens without you actually hearing the difference. I do not really know what has caused this to happen - is it Logic? PLAY? Kontakt? Or even my builtin speakers? Do I need some external ones? - and it seems to have started quite randomly. It also seems to randomly happen on any instrument in either Logic, PLAY or Kontakt.
Hopefully someone will have some idea of what I can do to fix this problem and return my instrument's to their default output volume without the need for compression.
    Thanks,
    and with kind regards,
    Charles

I haven't used Logic  X yet, but previously there was a preference regarding whether a new track would load the default Electric Piano.
So the way you're describing it, turning that off would fix your problem?  Although I don't know why it's so quiet and perking up after switching instruments.
I have noticed that when I load evp88 (is that what it's called?) into a blank audio inst track, it's really low.  I just assumed that how it was.
If things are buggier than this, you can always check 6. 7. and 8. of the Apple Support Logic troubleshooting list:
    Logic Pro X: Troubleshooting basics
    good luck!

  • Turning down/up input level from inside logic......

    Hi.
Some levels that i being in to logic from various sources are sometimes way too loud or too quiet.
Is there anyway to turn this input level up or down from inside logic.
I ask this because i am turning the level up on my mixing desk so loud that it is dominant over other sounds but the level in logic is good....
    Is there anyway around this?
    Thanks, Ben

    Hi.
The outputs that are very low are the 8 direct outs from my desk.
This means if i want the level to be descent then i have to turn up the desk very loud which is no good as this channels volume will be dominant over every other sound running through the desk.
I have a mackie 1604vlz pro.... Im not sure how to check what level my direct outs are outputting at. If there was anyway i could turn them up it would be great.
Please let me know if you have any advice?
    Thanks, Ben

  • Reason 3.0 with Logic 7.1...continued

I was wondering if it's because I have Reason Adapted with digidesing, and Reason Adapted for Recycle, and I wonder if I should trash them cause they all come up in the choices in Re-wire, but I just don't want to trash it if I don't have too....

Try just onboard coreaudio and see if it works, if possible. That will narrow things down and let you know if it's the Saffire driver or another issue.

  • Reason 3.0 with Logic 7.1

Can anyone Tell me, why when I first open Logic 7.1, and do all that is need as far as re-wire, whey Reason 3.0 is saying that it cannot connect to Reason engine, and the Reason Engine is already in use, to make sure You only run one instance of Reason?

Sounds like your problem is down the ReWire.... to me.
OK any one know how to rip out the rewire side of things so i can test this ?
I am not sure it has anything to do with rewire as it happens regardless of trying reason or not.
This is apple software running on an apple machine and it is not working surely there is some solution other than reinstalling the entire operating system. YUK

  • Reason wont open if logic is already open

Hey guys. Im trying to rewire logic and reason.
Reason opens fine normally, and logic open fine if reasons already open.
However, if i have logic open, and i try to run reason, it says Can not open reason engine, make sure it is properly installed. Im pretty sure you have to have logic opened before reason to rewire??
Do you guys have any ideas about what might be going on?

Are you on an Intel Mac? Or PPC?
Is Reason the correct version for the Mac you own?
What does Propellerheads have to say about the issue (you already went there and got no answers from them and came here???)

  • Problem with levels/meters in logic pro 7.2.2

Hopefully someone knows the answer to my problem.
I've loaded a wavefile that is peaking at 0, very compressed, limited, mastered etc..
For some reason, the audio track level meter shows that it's peaking at -3, and -3 on the master as well.
If i run the track through a bus, it knocks off another 3db at the bus and shows up on the bus and the master at -6db
This problem is becoming very frustrating. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you explain to me what the pan law setting means?
My guess is that it's something to do with when 2 mono tracks are made stereo they probably add 3 db per channel and need reduction? Just a hunch
I searched the reference manual but wasn't able to find it.

  • Rewire Reason 2.5 with Logic 7.2.3

Hi does anyone know how to rewire Reason 2.5 into the latest version of Logic 7 (7.2.3) I am running on an Intel iMac does this make any difference with the universal code or doesn't it make any difference?...
    Please advise.
    Richard Ginns.

    Good Morning.
Straight from the horsies' mouth,as it were:
"Will I be able to run Reason on an Intel-based Mac?
Yes, you will, but you need to run Reason 3.0.5, which can be downloaded by all registered Reason 3.0 users from the download section of this website."
I guess it's easier to go to the WRONG forum to ask these questions, and have one of us 'ole guys slam dunk a quote from Propellerheads' website, than for you to research properly.
    As you were...

  • Can REASON 3 rewire into Logic 7 ?

Hi, i know it sounds a simpleton question because it should rewire in (?) but just wondered if any of you guy's and gal's
have any experience of using reason 3 with logic 7, i don't know anyone who does so i'd like to see what problems if any, (if possible?) this presents.
    big thanks, jamie.

  • Recording Reason's Midi to Logic

Ok so this is complicated as I have no heard or seen anything about this I have searched countless times on google using different terms, etc and haven't found anything to similar to what I'm trying to achieve. I'm running Logic Pro 9, I have succesfully rewired reason into it. I had started a song in reason but I wan't to update the song and bring everything into logic and do not want to record audio as I want the freedom of midi so I can tweak the instruments.
What I want to do is for Logic to receive the midi data from reason and record what reason is playing. So I have a track armed to record in Logic that's rewired to a bass midi track in reason. I would like to be able to hit record and then it records midi note for note from reason into logics timeline. Make sense? Is this even possible?
Honestly my last resort is to export midi out from reason because when I do that it combines the multiple layers for one instrument as one instrument in logic which is not what I want.

    Hi,
    Thank you for your posts.
To say exactly what I am trying to do:- I currently have a song in logic express and I'm not happy with the drums at all. I would therefore like to completely disregard the current drum part and "experiment" with Redrum in Logic Express to try and create a new drum part.
Since I want to experiment, I am thinking that the more that is brought into logic / the less done in Reason, the better. I would also like to bring in the drum parts - kick / snare etc... onto individual channels in LE so that they can be mixed separately in LE.
I still don't fully understand what is / is not possible in LE. For example, to bring the kick / snare in on different channels - can this be achieved by having one Redrum in the rack or should there be multiple? Logic Ex. 7.1 also does not support stereo rewire objects - but I'm sure this can be overcome by creating L + R channels. I am sure the Logic Ex 7.2 update has the stereo option.
I followed the instructions (thank you very much for spending the time to post them) but when I got to Point 8. there was no option to select Redrum - it just had my midi controller listed?! (Remote 61) - I will try it again later - I think I'm going mad!
I have to say....I think that people should get a good understanding of basic features / procedures before jumping into Logic Pro but I am thinking that I'd be a lot further forward if I had Pro because at least I would know that I had all possible features and could follow many posts/instructions in this forum and if things didn't work....it's definitely my fault! ... and not due to the fact that it may have to be done a 'bit differently' because it's Express.....
Need to carry on trying here - still can only generate sound from my midi controller with other devices eg, subtractor etc...and not redrum.
    Thanks again for your post....
    All the best,
    Rachel

  • Level inconsistencies between Logic, Soundtrack Pro, Waveburner

Why is it that when I bounce a track out of Logic with normalization, sometimes (but not always) when I pop it into Soundtrack Pro, it'll peak at -.1 or -.15? And then I'll normalize it and then give it a little +.07 AUPeakLimiter. Then when I pop that I'll into Waveburner, it occasionally won't bounce out of that because it says I have clipping even though I went through those previous steps.
    Anybody else notice these inconsistencies?

I don't agree with "never normalize", especially when the normalization adds only 2 dB or less. Of course you can look at the level meter, see that the highest peak is -1,8 and just put the volume slider 1,8 dB higher; but that would yield the +exact same result+ as normalising. And if you have only two or three peaks that jump (way) out, I'ld recommend editing those manually, just reduce the gain on the cycle(s) that contains the peak(s) in the Wave Editor.
    regards, Erik.

  • Anyone using reason 4.0 with logic?

im using reason 4.0 abby road samples and im getting latency when i try to record tracks. i have a 2.0 processor and 2 gigs of ram. any advice?

I had that problem B4. I was getting huge latency in my mic when trying to do vocals and couldn't figure out why for the life of me. Then EVEN THO I WAS TOLD BY EVERYONE THAT PLUGINS ARE NO LONGER USING CPU WHEN BYPASSED, I did have the PSP Vintage on my Master but IT WAS BYBASSED! after I removed it completely, no more latency! So Maybe one of your hefty plugins is the culprit??

  • What is reason to upgrade to Logic 9?

I think version 8 is very good, and I enjoy it very much. I just think - i don't need anything else.... It is so great app.
I just think about reasons why should one upgrade to 9.
It would be nice to hear from different points of view what is so interesting to you to make an upgrade.

I feel the same way you do about LP8. It does everything I need (and much more) so why am I going to upgrade to LP9?
    WORKFLOW
    1) I use Melodyne for time corrections to vocal content. I have watched the videos on "Flex" and not having to render in Melodyne will save me time.
    2) I play guitar and right now I use Pod X3/Pod Farm for my guitar sounds. Having the new guitar related features in LP9 should allow me to get away from having to use the Pod X3 (which I will still use for gigs/jammin/etc.)
    3) The drum replacer feature and audio to sampler features also should speed up my work flow.
    4) Bounce in place....another time saver.
Could I get by with LP8. Absolutely. But if there is a better/faster way to do the same thing...why not use it?
Next Wed I take the plunge.
