Reason Code - several questions
Hi all
I have checked FAQ, discussions, help etc, but I could not find any reply to the following questions:
1) If I am in excel changing a value and get my popup with the reason codes assigned to the roles,
the order of the reason codes seem to be complete random, at least it is neither alphabetical for the technical name nor the description.
HOW is the order? How can I influence display order?
Business Case is that depending on the process, one user has different subset of reason codes
2) Evaluation of reason codes:
Currenty with JAM, you can not evaluate Reason Codes systematically, it is just a series of feeds, wich does not meet our requirements
With Change History, you have more possibilities for evaluation in URL-UI
Is there any possibility / workaround / development planned that we can have these reason codes in Excel already?
Business Case is that if the planner works on a material, he wants to see the reason codes in excel directly,
so he knows while planning on one view all reason codes given.
3) Is there any chance that we can set up thresholds for reason codes? Any workaround? Any development planned?
Business Case is that we dont want to have reason code if we just make a minor change, but e.g. only when the change is higher than 5%
This is a repeating question we get from different persons / roles from customer
Thanks
Irmi
Hi Irmi,
#1. We faced this issue in my previous project but could not determine the sorting order of the reason codes. They appear to be random. We checked to see if it's in the order they were created but that did not seem to be it either.
#2. Can you select by the hash tag? such as #upside? Try to do that in Feed and you should be able to display only the ones that your searched for.
#3. If reason codes are set up for your user, they will pop up no matter the change. One way to do this is to create a RC saying <5% change and just ignor those feeds.
thank you -

CAD UCCE Reason Codes Question
In UCCE CAD 7.5.4 and later Spanlink came out with a new feature where a agent can change thier "Not Ready" reason code without going "Ready"->"NotReady". I have a customer who is running 7.5.6 and does not like this feature and would like to turn it off. There is nothing in Cisco Administration Desktop application that controls this (i.e. enable / disable of this feature) Does any one know if there is a Registry or configuration file that can turn off this feature? - Thank for your help! - Jim
Not as far as I know. Haven't asked TAC or anything yet though. It's annoying because when going Not Ready > Not Ready it doesn't write an entry into the Agent_State_Trace table, only the Agent_Event_Detail which one of my clients needed to use for reporting..

Validation at line item level for F-32 to input Reason code
Hi Gurus,
I would like to write a validation / substitution for F-32 transaction code where in the Reason code field need to be mandatory field (With out input in to this field value the user should not come out of the transaction)
Please guide me how to write validation with out user exit
ThanksHi Suresh,
I guess the idea of MEENAKSH is good, perhaps you have an error in the Tcode, because in table BKPF the Tcode stored is FB1D and not F-32 :
So put the following in GGB0 and check again :
Prerequisite :
BKPF-TCODE = FB1D
Check :
BSEG-RSTGR <> ' '
Message :
Error : Reason code required
in the other hand, you can active a trace in GGB0 (Menu > Extras > Activate trace) to see what's the exactly the error
So it's not a question of screen.

Limiting or control for Residual payment with reason codes
Hi FI Gurus,
When we are received or making payment to customer or vendor, sometimes we need to clear the invoice by receiving or making payments with small differences through residual payment. Is there any control for limiting residual payment.
Lets have an example
invoice posted for 1000
customer dr 1000
sales cr 1000
Partial payment recd 500
cash/bank dr 500
customer cr 500
final payment received 350 and balanace amount adjusted with residual payment by defining reason code like rounding off difference. So in this case accounting entry will be
customer cr 350
rounding off diff 150
cash/bank 500
being final payment agaisnt invoice
My question: Is there any way to restrict the residual payment like 10% or 20% of total invoice i.e. 100 or 200 and not more than 20% ? other wise sometime user may adjust any amount may be 100000 through this way by putting the same reason code, which is not fair.
I checked SPRO setting but i did not get anyt setting relating to above case.
If any body know, please let me know? Thanks in advance
Regards,
PrakashHi Lawerance,
Thanks for reply.
But I am looking for amount adjusted through residual with reason code. I dont think there is any limitation or control in the SPRO standard setting. Tolerance is preventing user to post document for more than a specific amount. But my question is something different.
I want to control the user for adjusting amount from residual tab with selecting reason code. In other words user should not adjust more than some limit with residual payment by selecting reason codes. Thanks.

Extending resource status and reason code category
Hi Experts,
I have a couple of questions regarding the extensibility of status and reason codes in ME15.0 in the context of machine integration:
1. Is it save to add new status fields (records) in WIP.STATUS for STATUS_GROUP="RESOURCE"? Is there any impact, if a resource doesn't match one of the predefined status values?
2. The "logResourceStatusChanged" service creates entries in WIP.RESOURCE_TIME_LOG but not in WIP.RESRCE. That way, it is possible to get different status values in both tables at a given time. Do you see any negative impact resulting from this data inconsistency?
The service "ChangeResourceStatusRequest" is not suitable in our case, since it doesn't provide a timestamp as input parameter for the status change. And even if it would, the prevention of a "sfc complete" when the status is "unscheduled down" is inconvenient for our customer. The scenario is, that the customer wants to complete the quantity produced until the machine broke down (assume lot production).
3. Is it possible to add new "categories" in addition to the predefined values in WIP.REASON _CODE? What is the impact?
regards,
GeorgHi Georg,
I cannot give you a precise yes/no answer - so this is just to share some info.
- I've heard about some customer who implemented custom statuses. When a new status simply was added in the database, it did not affect a core functionality. But I do not know what happens if this status is assigned to a resource and then a core fucntionality is triggered. There might be some validation which could fail. But it is easier to test specific cases as how you are going to use SAP ME, and I doubt any developer will be happy to run a full analysis of code to answer your question.
- The new statuses need to be considered for loading via IDAT and adding into LocaleSpecificText properties file.
- As to custom categories of reason codes, I guess there are only few places where system behavior is tightly connected to specific predefined reason codes. So, I'm inclined to believe that adding reason codes and categories will not harm.

Dear All,
Experts.
I want to know about Reason Code. What is practical functionality of reason code ?
Here is my understanding as follows :-
Suppose I am posting one bill of Rs. 12,000/- against that I am receiving Rs. 14,000/-.
So if I use reason code, will my entry & effect like this ?
Bank A/c Dr 14,000
customer A/c Cr 12,000
Exchange Gain A/c Cr 2,000
( Being exchange gain of Rs 2,000/- )
For this functionality Reason code is used ?
1 ) In addition to this will Rs 2,000 generate one more residual line item in customer account ? 2 ) or account will be clear?
3 ) Where I can link the reason codes ? 4 ) It is at customer master level or document level 5 ) Reason code is Manual assignment or Automatic assignment ?
Experts your help on this will be great.
Regards,
Sharvari Joshi.Dear,
Chintan.
Thank you again for focusing on my questions. Can I link the reason code to customer while taking the payment from F-28 ?
Or at any other T.code I need to use for using Reason Code ?
1) Define reasons Codes
2) Define accounts for payment differences
3) Define std reason code for clearing w/payment advice notes.
4) Define Reason code for conversion version
5) Define conversion of payment differences reason code.
are the only steps to configure reason codes ?
Your help on this will be great.

Message ID CPF7024, reason Code # 2
Hi Guys,
In our SCM production system, we use the the program given by SAP for managing the journal receivers..It deletes an old journal from the journal library and saves it to a another library, which we back off everynight...
Now all of a sudden, the program is not able to delete one of the old journals, and hence the subsequent journals are also not deleted, and hence our ASP is shooting up.
The reason code for not being able to delete the journal, its showing as Message ID CPF7024, reason Code # 2...which basically states that :
2 -- The receiver contains entries for changes that are not committed or
rolled back. These entries are necessary for IPL recovery operations.
This receiver is from last night...Is there a way to commit these or look at what has not been committed, so that we can delete the journals....
I have not brought down the system so far(offline)...and have not tried deleting this journal after that. I am speculating that it may give me the same message after that as well...
Any suggesstions?? Will it be alright if i bring down the system and then try the operation...??
Thanks
AbhiHi all, i have the same problem.
But in my case i can't do the IPL because the upgrade still running...
Is there other options to delete the journals manually?
I have search on internet and i got the following below, to use WRKJRNA...
Valid Reasons Why a DLTJRNRCV Receives Message CPF7024 RC2
The following are valid reasons why a DLTJRNRCV receives message CPF7024 with RC2 - the receiver contains entries for changes that are not committed or rolled back:
o
There are uncommitted changes. To resolve the problem, type WRKJRNA for the journal, press F15 to get into the receiver directory, and select Option 8 on the journal receiver to be deleted. For example, if a journal receiver called rcv34011 was attached on 12-13-99 at 13:03 and detached at 13:18, the user can locate the job that has not done a commit or rollback since 13:18. The user can use the WRKJRNA for the journal, press F19 and use Option 6 to display all commitment definitions currently associated with the journal. Work with each job that is active and determine if it was started after the Journal Receiver in question was attached and if this job can be ended. On this Work with Commitment Definitions screen, press F11 until the State field is displayed. Any commitment definitions with a State of PREPARED or LAST AGENT PENDING represent transactions that the application tried to commit, but are in-doubt due to a failure between phases one and two of the two-phase commit. Now determine whether the in-doubt commitment definitions are XA transactions by pressing F11 again until the Global Transaction ID field is displayed. If that field is blank, the transaction is non-XA, and should resolve by itself once communications are re-established with the remote system(s) involved in the transaction. If some unrecoverable error has occurred that will prevent communications with those system(s) from ever being re-established, the transaction will have to be manually completed using Option 14=Forced commit or Option16=Forced rollback, followed by Option 19=Cancel resync to make the commitment definition go away. If the Global Transaction ID field is not blank, the commitment definition represents an XA transaction. Such transactions must be completed per XA standard protocol. If any of the commitment definitions are not in a PREPARED or LAST AGENT PENDING state, they are still pending commit or rollback. You can display the commit cycle for such transactions by using Option 5=Display from the Work with Commitment Definitions screen, then Option F6=Display resource status, page down and select Journal, then Option 5=Display commit cycle entries. If the timestamp of the first entry (C SC) is later than the timestamp when the journal receiver was detached, this transaction is not preventing the receiver from being deleted. If the C SC timestamp is older than that, the user will have to determine why their application has not committed or rolled back such an old transaction.
Can somebody explain me how to use it?
Thanks all,

NPS SQL missing reason-code in Server 2012 R2
Hi
It seems like several SQL fields in the 2012 R2 version of NPS logging has been removed.
Amongst others the Reason-Code field.
Most people only refer to log files to see why someone can't connect to the vpn server.
In previous versions we had a web front end for an sql view that gave you the reason why the server denied access so that we do not need to give helpdesk personnel access to the log files and we also filter which operations vpn sessions they can see (via
multiple vpn nps policies and then filter the sql view based on their permissions).
Is there any way to restore the logging of this field to SQL as well as logging the source IP address of the request (our investors requires this and we get audited on it) with the issued IP (non DHCP). We are not allowed to run DHCP on this server since
it is situated in the 3rd party datacenter.

Return Reason Codes Generating Multiple Invoices
When creating a credit memo in order entry, we often have product returned on an order for several reasons (i.e. one item is returned due to damage, another returned due to code date). When this occurs and the order is autoinvoiced, it creates a separate invoice for each reason code on the order.
Is anyone aware of a set-up parameter that would eliminate an invoice being generated for each reason code, and allow the entire credit memo to only be one document?Hi priyeshosi ,
If you use function modules start with GUI_* or WS_* in your report , then you can't generate the spool.
reason for this, Please check this link,

Impact of Reason Code change in IT 8
Hi Expert,
I have a question .
Current Return To Work process and the reason codes currently being used to return an employee from a leave of absence. Now I copy the prior record and use the reason code from the prior action. What is the impact on Payroll ,future state or retro of using reason code on infotype 8 if we change reason code?
Thanks in advance.
AnkurHi Ankur,
Reason code, it is only Signifies the reason for which you are executing the action. Any action wich is impacting the Previuos Payresults, would impact in Retro.
So reason does not Impact anything. It is the kind of action which You Perform Matters.
Thanks & Regards. -
I am trying to create a report that shows reason codes as words, eg 1 =meeting etc
I have made what I believe to be the relavant changes, however whilst the Parameters check out ok, when i go to creat the fields, I get a syntax error.
if anyone can take a look at this and let me know here I am goiing wrong, I would be grateful.
please be advised, I haven't had any training on SQL, I am learning as i go!Thanks for getting back to me, unfortunately I don't have the ability to check this through an SQL application.
Hence the question.:-)
I will go through the query again

Several questions that I do not see in the "FAQ" about CC.
I have several questions that I do not see in the "FAQ". Here are three of them.
1) After a cancellation of membership, for whatever reason, will I still be able to use the After Effects I bought before this CC thing?
2) What happened to the software I have purchased in the past? I can no longer link to the page that contains my serial numbers for the products that I have purchased.
3) And can I no longer download my software if my copies are lost?
4) Is CC the only way to get future software versions? It appears that using the software through a subscription keeps one from upgrading to new versions without having to keep paying once you purchased or one will not be able to use the software.1) After a cancellation of membership, for whatever reason, will I still be able to use the After Effects I bought before this CC thing?
1, After cancelling CC you can use the perpetual products purchased by you earlier. If you have registered them you can access them via Adobe.com (Retail purchase)
2) What happened to the software I have purchased in the past? I can no longer link to the page that contains my serial numbers for the products that I have purchased.
As mentioned all your previous purchases are available to you, to get the serial number of past if they are retail purchase & registered then :
Enter your Adobe ID and password, and then click Sign In. Go to manage account(you get this when the cursor is hovered over your sign in name, choose all products.
The My Adobe page is displayed. All your registered products and their serial numbers are listed in theMy products section
3) And can I no longer download my software if my copies are lost?
Yes you can download it if you have purchased it as an download link as the download option is also available with the serial number, you can find some download here also Download and Installation Help
4) Is CC the only way to get future software versions? It appears that using the software through a subscription keeps one from upgrading to new versions without having to keep paying once you purchased or one will not be able to use the software.
The best part of CC is that you do not need to make another purchase, the CC keeps on upgrading on its own at no extra cost, you can get the upgrades till the time you have active CC.

Getting Reason Code, Condition Type, and Condition Value in one report
Hello there,
I have got a Question for you all BW Gurus. I need the answer for this as soon as possible. I will assign points to all helpful answers.
I am having a Sales cube, Delivery Cube, and a Conditions Cube which I built. Each cube is populated from different ODS. Means there are 3 ODS for 3 cubes. I am joining these 3 cubes under a Multiprovider.
My Question is:
We are using Reason Codes at Delivery level. We have identified an empty field in the delivery tables and populating this field with the reason codes. We have condition type and condition value only in the Condition cube. One of the reporting requirements is that we need to see Reason code, Condition Type, and Condition value in one report. I am planning to report on the Multiprovider. Since Reason code, Condition Type, and Condition value are not present in all the 3 cubes (means they are not common characteristics in the Multiprovider), I dont think I can get those values in one report if I report on the Multiprovider. Please correct me if I am wrong. If what I say is correct, please tell me how to solve my problem. Once again, helpful answers will be greatly appreciated and rewarded with points.
Thank you in advance.
Kind Regards,
SwathiHello Swathi,
Please do not post the same question on multiple forums.

Background: I am new to SAP GRC. We are in the process of upgrading from 4.0 to 5.2. I am focusing on FF and CC.
My question pertains to FF.
When logging in as a firefighter in 4.0, it is a free-form to enter your reason and activity.
When logging in as a firefighter in 5.2, it has been changed to choosing from a list of mandatory "reason codes".
Is there a way to revert back to the old method in entering free-form text as opposed to choosing from a list of reason codes? The user/config guide does not specify.
Thanks in advance!
- Jes BehrensHello Jes,
As Ankur just mentioned that you have to maintain reason codes in advance but the reason text field is a free text for sure. That's right, and this should be the best practice as well. Now the reports are much more efficient. There is a new dedicated report called Reason / Activity Report
This report can be generated by Reason Code, Firefighter ID, Firefighter ID Owner, or by Session Date. So it would be great if you discuss this with Business process Owners and decide what reason codes would be appropriate.
Suppose you have a reason code for basis activities, and later on your management want's to see what were the activities performed by basis team in over a month or more, in this case you can simply go to Reason/Activity report and select an appropriate reason code and wow here what do you have?
the whole list of basis activities. wow, don't you think it is an amazing functional addition on FF 5.2 well my company love this feature.

How to synchronize Dispute case reason code with AR Reason Code
Hi
A residual is set up with reason code "A". A dispute case is created for this residual and once the case is created the reson code is changed to "B" . Now what is the program that needs to be scheduled that synchronizes these two and changes AR reason code to "B"? Thanks for help
ThanksI agree with Ravishankar, that this is more of a question regd operational process being followed by your business team.
You might want to explain them tht it would be better of that to have below process
1) initially AR residual has a reason code
2) DC gets created automatically with the reason code of AR residual
3) in case the Reason code needs to be changed now, change it in the DC case itself.
4) to reflect changes made in step 3 to the AR residual online, you need to make settings in spro @ FSCM -- DM -- Process Ingegration with AR -- Auto doc changes from DC -- Define doc changes
If you get the above steps employed, you will have one version of truth across AR and DC with respect to Reason codes.
