Reassign DP from 2012 SP1 to 2012 R2 environment.

We are due to migrate to our new 2012 R2 environment soon.
We have just tested a DP reassignment. The actual DP role reassignment worked fine. However the SMSDPPROV.log contains lots of the following errors:
[CA4][Thu 04/17/2014 10:53:19]:Importing package 0GL0051D as content 0GL0051D.2 into SIS from source \\TSTSCCMDP01.XXX.XXX.COM\SMSPKGD$\0GL0051D
[CA4][Thu 04/17/2014 10:53:19]:Failed to access the source
anyone any ideas?

Have you already checked the obvious? Is the DP (=computer account) able to access the sources at all?

SCOM Gateway Server Upgrade from 2012 SP1 to R2

Hi,
I am upgrading our SCOM environment from 2012 SP1 to R2. But unable to upgrade the Gateway Server. The installation of R2 setup stops with error message: "The operation manager gateway can't be installed on a computer on which the Operation Manager
management server, Operations Console, operational database, web console, agent, System Center Essentials, or System Center Service Manager is already installed."
I checked none of the above component is installed on the gateway server. Please suggest what is the issue?

Have you followed the steps below to upgrade a gateway server:
Log on to a computer that hosts the gateway server with an Operations Manager Administrators role account for your Operations Manager management group.
On the Operations Manager media, run Setup.exe.
In the Optional Installations area, click Gateway management server.
On the Welcome to the System Center 2012 R2 Operations Manager Gateway Upgrade Wizard page, click
Next.
On the The wizard is ready to begin gateway upgrade page, click
Upgrade.
On the Completing the System Center 2012 - Operations Manager Gateway Setup wizard page, click
Finish.
You may check below directory:
C:\Program Files\System Center 2012\Operations Manager

Migrate from 2012 rtm to 2012 R2

I am a bit confused, if you read the migration hierarchy scenarios (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg682006.aspx) you can migrate from 2007 to 2012 rtm or SP1 or R2.
you can migrate from 2012 SP1/R2 to another 2012 SP1/R2
yesterday I was investigating the possibility to migrate a pilot 2012 RTM environment to a new 2012 R2 environment we just setup. as a test I was able to migrate a driverpackage, so hey: it seems to work, but why is this scenario not covered in the
technet online doc?
so: if object migration from 2012 RTM to 2012 R2 is supported, are there limitations to that scenario?

I haven't done it either but know of several cases where this has successfully been done. However, as with any migration, there are niggling issues. Unfortunately you won't be able to get any assistance with these - as you are in an "unsupported"
scenario.
I would have preferred for this to be tested properly and deemed to be "supported".

Satellite Z930-14F - cannot install Win 8.1 from SCCM 2012 R2 environment

Dear all,
Sattelite Z series laptops cannot install OS (win 8.1) from our SCCM 2012 R2 environment.
Either no installation is starting, or pxe boot aborted error is showed.
The environment is used to successfully install OS (win 8.1) on different other vendor computers (dell) and virtual machines (hyper-v and vmware).
I've tried both UEFI and CMS boot options and tried to switch off the secure boot. Please advice.
Also, i've read about the "SCCM installation package for Toshiba". Will it help in my situation or is it just driver packages for SCCM?

I dont have much experience using such SCCM drive package but it definitely compatible with the Toshiba business notebooks. The Satellite / Portege Z930 belong to the business range and I think the package should be compatible.
This package seems to be for all IT administrators who manage devices on the corporate network with SCCM 2012 R2. Toshiba offers with the new Toshiba SCCM package a solution to integrate other notebook into an existing IT infrastructure quickly and smoothly and all Toshiba Driver and application packages and a demonstration task sequence are integrated.
However, it seems that you could get more details about this package directly from Toshiba [email protected]
By the way: The Win 8.1 installation requires the UEFI mode (in case the UEFI BIOS is available). But booting from another, external source requires the disabled secure boot option.
So maybe you should use the UEFI mode but should disable the secure boot option in order to boot from LAN.

Upgrade from 2012 to 2012 R2 just quits

Hello,
We have the task to upgrade a physical server HP DL360 G6. It is running Windows 2012 Datacenter with Hyper-V role and the target is to do in-place upgrade to Windows 2012 R2 Datacenter.
The DVD burned with official 2012 R2 .iso is inserted in DVD tray of server, I started install and after message "Setup is copying files..." and "Setup is starting...", then the install process just quits with no error.
No Panther\setupact.log and Panther\setuperr.log in C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources.
The file C:\Windows\setuperr.log has no content and C:\Windows\setupact.log has no errors mentioned:

Based on your description, we need to make sure all VMs have been shutdown before doing the upgrade.

Photo stream only saves you photos from the last 30 days. Older photos are deleted from photo stream even though they will remain on your device. However, if you connect a new device to your photo stream, then will only receive the photos from the last 30 days as they others have been removed.
If you still have your old phone and the photos are in the camera roll, import them to your computer (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083), then sync them to your new phone.

Upgrading from 2012 Standard Evaluation (Domain Controller) to 2012 R2 Standard Full

Hello,
My company recently wanted to move from a Linux domain controller to a Windows system. We downloaded and installed Server 2012 Standard evaluation, set up a domain, and made sure things were working well. Now, we want to purchase the full copy, but we see
that 2012 R2 is now out.
We would like to purchase R2, but somehow do an in-place upgrade. From what I can tell, we have a few hurdles:
*No upgrade path from 2012 Evaluation to 2012 R2 Full
*Cannot upgrade evaluation with DC role to full
What would be the recommended course of action to take here? We do have an unused machine here that could serve as a secondary domain controller that currently has no OS installed, but we don't want to buy 2 server licenses at this time if we can help it.

As far as i know you can't upgrade an eval to a full install on 2012.
you could build a new server using server 2012 R2 depends on how you normally purchase software you might be able to install without likening initially as you get a grace period. Build a new DC in the existing domain and then demote the current DC, then
rebuild it using 2012 R2, licence it and then install it back as a DC and demote the other one you created.

DPM 2012 R2, upgrade OS from 2012 to 2012 R2

I have DPM 2012 R2 on Windows Server 2012. Is an In-Place Upgrade of the Operating System from 2012 to 2012 R2 supported?
I assume the normal procedure of:
Take DPM database backup.
Uninstall DPM with retain data
Upgrade/patch Operating System
Re-install DPM 2012 r2
Applies in this case?

IPad opens email from 2012....

Sometimes when I open my email on my iPad it opens it to emails from 2012 just from my iCloud account and I then have to go choose all email accounts, (I have 3 I use) and then scroll up to the newest emails. Why does this happen? It is very annoying.

You don't have an IMAP email account or this behavior would be the same on all of your devices since that is how IMAP accounts work.
The phone and the iPad have the same settings. Try Settings> Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Advanced>Delete from Server>Never (under Incoming Settings)

Certainly you have backed up 1 1/2 years worth of photos, or at least imported them to your computer for safekeeping, right? Just synch them back.

Upgraded ADFS server from 2012 to 2012 R2

Using Lync Online...had DirSync and ADFS setup and working with Lync Online...upgraded server which performed the ADFS to server 2012 R2 from 2012 RTM. Now it appears ADFS maybe broken.Users get Server unavailable when signing into Lync Online.
What is process to repair? Re-installation?

Have you updated the federation information from the ADFS server via PowerShell and gotten a successful response (update-msolfederateddomain)? That would be the first thing to try.

If all else fails, reinstallation certainly is an option, but hopefully not a necessity.
