Reassigning Datasource to a new planning area

Hi,
Currently we have a datasource in a planning area. However this planning area was not as per the naming conventions and hence a new planning area had to be created. No we need to reassign the datasource to this new planning area. Is there any way to achieve this without deleting the datasource and recreating a new one with the same name?

There may be possible approaches through backend database table updates. However I would not recommend that. You would need to regenerate the datasources. Else there will be surely issues while migrating or even while doing backups.

APO- BI Datasource from Planning Area

Hi All,
I need help with APO-BI datasource generated from Planning Area.
In the Dev environment we had two clients:
DCLNT020 (Holds APO part) DCLNT010 (Holds BI workbench).
So a datasource was generated from the Planning area in DCLNT020 --> it was replicated in DCLNT010 --> data from Planning Area was extracted to BI cube using this.
Now we transported this datasource to the Test environment which has only one client (TCLNT010). I maintained the Source to target mapping there such that DCLNT020 -- TCLNT010 and DCLNT010 -- TCLNT010.
However the Transport fails and the error message is:
Cannot replicate DataSource
Errors occurred during post-handling RS_AFTER_IMPORT for ISFS L
If I go to the Test system and try to generate the transported Datasource directly from the Planning area again, it says this DataSource already exists. However I cannot see this datasource in the system even after replicating and refreshing multiple times.
Please provide your inputs as to what might be wrong and hat I need to do to solve this.

Based on the above post it seems to be your maintain two clients in Dev one is for creation and another is for testing and when it comes to test environment your maintain only one client and maintain the DS in one it wont give any impact..
Based on the error

There could be two reasons
1) Needs to replicate the data source once you have imported it to test environ ment and than ran the program "RSDS_DATASOURCE_ACTIVATE_ALL" by giving the name of the source and DS name if its BI 7.0
If its 3.x then have to execute the program :"RS_TRANSTRU_ACTIVATE_ALL" By specifying the transfer structure name.
2) RS_AFTER_IMPORT in some cases its because of improper transport of the update rules.
Solution would be recollect the transport and release the DS transport first and execute the ( 1)Activities and then transport the remaining._

How to change the Package of planning area and datasource to be transportab

Hi every body,
I av created a datasource for the xxx planning area and saved in $tmp which is local package and cannot be transportable .and i would like to transport the planning area along with the data source.But before transporting the planning area along with the data sourse i av to change the package of the data source.I am not able to understand where should i change the package of the planning area and datasouce.
Can any body help me out of this problem.

Planning Area datasource Parallel processing

Hello Experts,
Have anyone worked on using a parallel processing profile in a data source.
We are extracting the data from planning area for backup and extracting to BW for reporting purposes. To speed up the process, we have an option to implement parallel processing for the datasource related to the planning area.
Does this really work without any discrepancies in the data extracted?
Please provide some pointer on the concept.

Hi Raj,
In our project we are using 8 parallel processes with Block size 1000.
Regarding question 2: Ideally, yes both the iterations should result in same number of records, but data packets will be different based on Block Size. Please check whether you are referring to data packets or records.
Also if you have the check box marked in one of the iterations, the number of records may vary.

New plan(s) bad for me ?

The new share everything plans are offering less service for more of my money. Below are my currents costs & services vs what the new plan.
I have a total of 4 lines, (2) smart phones and (2) basic phones which cost's $180/mo. on my current/old plan.
- $80 per month for talk/txt (700 min / unlimited txt).
- $10 per month for each basic phone (no data)
- $40 per month for each smart phone (unlimited data)
-vs-
The new share everything plan will cost me $220/mo. That's $40 more per month than my current plan.
- $80 per month for the unlimited txt/call & 6GB package (This based on average data usage of 3Gb/mo of data use on each smart phone)
- $30 per month for each basic phone
- $40 per month for each smart phone
The only advantage of upgrading to the new plan would be for subsidized phone pricing, in which case would cost me nothing since I would likely choose the no-cost phones. In the end this is going to cost me an extra $40/mo. for a 24 month contract wich totals $960. Another option: Instead of giving $960 to verizon, I could use that to purchase used or new phones (as needed) from some place other than verizon, and keep my current/old plan.
These phone plan prices are getting crazy, which is leading me to think seriously of other alternatives.
One that keeps coming to mind is eliminating verizon and getting prepaid phones with pay as you go minutes. The idea is to use them as PHONES and nothing else. This would save me a bundle of money. I'm thinking of vacations, dinner with friends (on me), a new car.
It's beginning to dawn on me that verizons new plans are a blessing in diguise...

I agree the basic line charge is what is making it worse for those that just want a phone (dumb phone).
Your reasoning that it will only cost an additional $20 is not quite the way I see it. You are forgetting that additional data will be needed for the phones. In other words I would need to up the data to 9-10GB. That's an additional $10-20 per month. So I would be going from $180/mo to $260/mo for total of $1920 over a 24 mo period. Not to mention I would likely be paying a considerable amount for the phones as the dicounted price goes down significantly as you add lines. That being the case, factor in another $500 or so bringing the total extra cost at $2420.
When you do the math the absurdity of the pricing becomes more clear.

SEM Planning Areas Error

Hi All,
We have recently upgraded to BW 3.3 Content. After the upgrade I am unable to access/change the Planning Areas in BPS0 transaction. I am getting a pop-up with an error message as Syntax error in program /1SEM/CL_CHALEV_100ZDIN=======CP. (ZDIN is the name of my planning Area)
The error is only for existing Planning Areas. I am able to create new Planning Areas without any problems.
I have already refered the notes - 528726, 412101 and 435425. But no luck.
Has anybody faced this issue.

Error While Copying Planning Area

Hi all,
I am in the process of creating a new planning area by copying 9ASNP03. But while i copy the system throws the following error "Planning Object Structure ID 9ALA is invalid". Also 9ASNP03 is not active.
Please help me out with this error.

Hi Arun,
Please activate the POS 9ASNPSA linked to the Planning area 9ASNP03 or any copy of 9ASNP03.
Once you activate this POS 9ASNPSA, you can just copy the inactive/active Planning area 9ASNP03 to custom.
This would solve your error "Planning Object Structure ID 9ALA is invalid"

Creation of new planning level in BPS0 in BW 3.5

Dear Experts,
I have to create a new planning layout in BW 3.5 BPS
for this ,I have followed the below procedure:
-Maintained the master data of new keyfigures in Info Object: Key Figure (0MEASURE) in RSA1
-Copied the Similar Planning level in the same Planning area (in which I need to add the new one) and created a new planning level with its subordinate objects and then changed by deleting the keyfigures except # and added the new keyfigures, to be maintained in new planning area and saved.
-Changed the planning layout (which is created automatiacally whne we copied planning level) by deleting the existing key figures except 0KEYFG_FLAG and added the required key figure and saved.
-copied the planning profile and created a new planning profile and changed it with required planning level and package and saved.
-In T-code:upx_mntn1, I could see the new planning level with the required key figure there.
But this new planning profile is not appraring in the CRM server.
As I haven't worked in BPS , please guide me if there is any thing needs to be done or any changes in the procedure followed.
Please share any documentation or links you have ....regarding this

I just want to understand, what we do in the "Supply Chain Design Master Data" in the view "Sites/Locations" to make the planning area active.
Because we just enable the logistics area, the roles and usages.
Apart from that we will bot be doing anything over there. Hence kindly clarify if i wrong.

Multiple attachment of planning books to planning area

Dear all,
I am facing an issue:
When I copied the planning book in a planning area without making any changes I was not able to display the original book,
In display I found that planning area of original planning book was changed and the copied book had the requried planning area.

Hi Amol,
Not sure if I understand your question correctly. But I guess you have got a planning area assigned in your planning book which you need to change. Goto Define Planning Book (transaction /SAPAPO/SDP8B) enter the planning book for which change is required. Then click on Edit (in the menu bar) >> Assign Planning Area. This will list the planning areas in the system and you can change the planning area suitably. Please note after this you need to go and check for the characteristics and keyfigures in the planning book and data view. These may be changed depending on the new planning area. Macros needs to be checked as well.

GRC PC 10 - Create new plan and configure workflows

Hello,
I'm trying to create a new plan (I allready have 2 new plans created) and I want to configure it workflows.
One is a replica of Self-Assessments and another is a replica of Test of Efectiveness.
The difference is that their applies to differents certifications and must have differents uses.
But I don't know where to configure or create the event to assign a role or determine the agent.
For example, one of the new plans are PERF-AUISO.
And the second question is, where can I define that my new plan (Self - Assessment) with a survey, don't have any final result? I don't want that the users who response says if it is "Adequate" or "Defficient". I want that only responds a text por a control.

Hello Claudenir,
the concept in GRC is not to delete master data but to delimit the validity.
There is no deletion supported in the standard functionality.

Adding new key figures to DP planning area

I am using APO DP.
When adding new key figures to a planning area, is there any way of avoiding having to deinitialise and then re initialise the planning area?

First of, let us know which version of DP are you using.
If you are using 7.0, all you need to do is right click on your planning area and select Change Keyfigure setting and you should be able to update the key figures there.
The below is from SAP help for SAP APO 7.0, you should be able to add the key figure without deinitializing the planning area.
Key Figure Settings
Here you can change the properties of the key figures of a planning area, if the planning area has already been initialized. You can also add or delete key figures. However, you can only delete key figures that are no longer used in planning books, data views, macros, or demand forecasts. You can find out in which objects a specific key figure is used with the where-used list.

Datasource on APO Planning Area - Transportation Error

There seems to be no extract strucutre available for this data source in quality. This is creating the problem in quality. The extract strucutre which is created in your scenario would be available in temp folder and that will not be availbale for transport, so you need to have the datasource generated in quality and then you transport the active version to quality so that it will be available with the changes as that of development.

Generate Export datasource for planning area

we are using SCM 4.0 version for running Demand planning.
i have one strange problem. that is, to generate export data source for planning area, there is no option when
right clicking on planning area(context menu).is this option is available somewhere else?. please give me a clue on how to generate export datasource for planning
area in version SCM 4.0? or do i need to do some configurations?.

Hi,
You may try the following:
1) From the menu: Demand Planning->Environment->Current Settings->Administration of Demand Planning
2)From the list of planning areas, double click your Planning Area to display your planning area setup
3) Then from go to the menu Extras->Generate Datasource
