Rebel XTi Shots with RAW & JPEG - Only The RAW Gets Imported

Hi,
Any help would be great. I've checked to see if I've missed any settings but nothing I can find. Funny thing is it works just fine in iPhoto. I'm a brand new Aperture user so I've got to be doing something wrong.

Well it is true that RAW files are typically flatter in their initial render than JPEGs are.
If the images were shot in similar light, then you could edit your "better" shots, and then lift and stamp the adjustments (say saturation 1.10, edge sharpening on, definition +15, etc.) and then stamp it on the other ones you don't care about.
Lift & stamp takes just a couple seconds to do.
Though this is one area where Lightroom has a nice feature of global presets -- you can default settings for a large group of adjustments and just apply it to a large group of images. Aperture doesn't have an equivalent that I've seen... you have to do piecemeal adjustments to a single image and then lift and stamp that. Enhancement request

Your media is only where you put it.
Installing iTunes and signing into your iTunes account does not cause media to magically appear.
Copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer or the backup of the old computer to the new computer.
FYI, there is nothing to import and if you are smart and want to avoid duplicates you will NOT import anything.

Amazon Prime reply app does not allow video airplay - nor do several other content providers.
It must have something to do with digital rights/copyright.

Please identify your notebook/pc /printer.
Look at the base/rear/side of the notebook/pc/printer at the barcoded sticker.
Post item number 2 as seen on the following example of an HP notebook's barcoded sticker. The barcode on your HP product may be slightly different in appearance, but will still have the important information needed for us to help you.

If your printer is a laser printer then simply go to print preferences and select grayscale printing

Sure-glad to help you. You will not lose any data by changing synching to MacBook Pro from imac. You have set up Time Machine, right? that's how you'd do your backup, so I was told, and how I do my backup on my mac. You should be able to set a password for it. Save it. Your stuff should be saved there. So if you want to make your MacBook Pro your primary computer, I suppose, back up your stuff with Time machine, turn off Time machine on the iMac, turn it on on the new MacBook Pro, select the hard drive in your Time Capsule, enter your password, and do a backup from there. It might work, and it might take a while, but it should go. As for clogging the hard drive, I can't say. Depends how much stuff you have, and the hard drive's capacity. As for moving syncing from your iMac to your macbook pro, should be the same. Your phone uses iTunes to sync and so that data should be in the cloud. You can move your iTunes Library to your new Macbook pro

don't forget to de-authorize your iMac if you don't want to play purchased stuff there
and re-authorize your new macBook Pro
time machine is an application, and should be found in the Applications folder. it is built in to OS X, so there is nothing else to buy. double click on it, get it going, choose the Hard drive in your Time capsule/Airport as your backup Time Machine and go for it. You should see a circle with an arrow on the top right hand of your screen (the Desktop), next to the bluetooth icon, and just after the wifi and eject key (looks sorta like a clock face). This will do automatic backups of your stuff.

Only half of the audio gets imported in Composition!!!

I use After Affects CS6. I have 8 videos. I import them to my Project and then import them all in one composition. Everything is fine: BUT one of the videos, has only half the sound. On top left, I see the green wave sign is full but as soon as I import it next to the other videos in the Composition, only half of the sound gets imported. I check the Audio in the composition for this video and can also see the green wave in half way through.
I tried a new comporistion for this particular video, the same thing. I even closed everything down, open a very brand new project but still the same.
No effect or anything is used. Again, all the 8 videos are being treated 100% indenticall. It is just this one that although the audio gets imported all in full in the Project but as soon as it is imported to the Composition, half of the sound gets disppeared.
Please help me. I have to deliver this project to my customer :(((

The videos come from my Camcorder and in MTS format.
Yes. It opens fine in Premiere and other places. Even in After Effects, It imports all fine in the Project. The green waving audio sign is there to see and all fine. But as soon as I import it to the Composition, only half od the audio gets importet.
Well, like I said, EVERYTHING is 100% the same amoung all these 8 videos. They were shot at the same day, same everything. All the other 7 work just they way they should. Its just THIS one with this issue.
I just even un-installed the AE and re-installed it but still the same. New project, new composition, .. THIS video gets only half audio when in Composition.

Okay, as I'm working through this I see that I have to add the "Admin" account to each file with "read only" permission. Simply changing the "everyone" account access does nothing.
So how do I change the permissions settings in iPhoto or Aperture to give each exported file the desired permissions? I cannot locate a setting in the iPhoto or Aperture applications.
Also, I added a password to the user account. It did not change how files are output.

I'm working on Windows 8.1... I think that I may have found the issue... I was saving the file in a project directory rather than the default My Captivate Projects folder...
Perhaps Captivate was struggling to find resources it needed?
It hasn't crashed for a while now, though it is struggling - I'm working with a 54 slide PPT presentation that is linked and it takes a very long time to interact.
Sometimes it says that I've removed slides, which I haven't?

When I import TIF and JPG files with same metadata, only the TIF files are imported. How can I change that?

I have imported and renamed TIF and JPG files with the same metadata re recording date and time. Only the TIF files are imported, the JPG files remain unimproved. Thus I have in the Finder e. g. 13 image files in the same folder in which Lightroom only finds 10 files. Any ideas for resolution welcome!

Turn off the option Preferences > General > Treat JPEG Files Next To Raw Files As Separate Photos. Then do an import again. It appears that, in this instance, LR considers a TIFF to be a "raw" file.

With multiple players only the first created is in the foreground

Using JMF 2.1.1, I can create multiple players. There's some fishy behavior though. The application has a JFrame, with a JTabbedPane. Within the JTabbedPane, there are a number of JInternalFrame's - each containing a lightweight Player.
1. The first created player with always be in the foreground. Selecting other players, or moving them around the screen does not bring the video to the foreground. In fact, if they get cascaded, the video is always seen in the order the players were created.
Is there a way to bring a player into the foreground?
2. Moving the JInternalFrame's around the visible area, it behaves strangely at the edges of the application area. The video can actually overlap slightly, the boundary of the JTabbedPane, for example.

I have found the root of my problem: you cannot mix heavy and lightweight components very easily. The description at
http://java.sun.com/products/jfc/tsc/articles/mixing/
describes and has perfect examples of what is happening to me. The Player method getVisualComponent() returns a java.awt.Component, and that's the problem!
The heavy weight awt objects are over writing the light weight swing components.
damn! Anybody know how to change that? I already use the "lightweight renderer" hint in the manager. Trying to cast the player to javax.swing.JComponent will compile, but bombs at run-time. I'd hate to switch over to all heavyweight awt components just to fix this up.

Problem with GREP - finds only the 1st occurrence

In the example below, I am trying to find text between pairs of $ characters.
Theoretically this should work — \$\s.+?\s\$ — but in practice it finds only the 1st occurrence. I can’t figure out why.
Interestingly enough, in JS this expression works as expected.
I select the text and run the script:

    var doc = app.activeDocument;
    var sel = app.selection[0];
    var contents = sel.contents;
    var match = contents.match(/\$\s.+?\s\$/g);
And it returns all the four occurrences:

Filter>Stylize>Glowing Edges>Image>Adjustments>Invert>Desaturate (if you want a black edge)>Levels to refine the edges.

Rip the CDs with another program on your computer, and add the resulting MP3s to your iTunes library. (If you use Windows Media Player for this purpose, make sure the Rip Setting is on MP3, or else it will default to a useless format known as WMA.)

Seeing only the photos you import

One of the features I liked in Photoshop Elements 3 was that when I would import a new bunch of photos, it would show me ONLY those photos, giving me a chance to tag them before they got mixed up with everything else. Is that feature still available in Elements 8?

I'm already using the program - I purchased it several months ago. But when I download a fresh card full of pictures, it just sticks them in with all the others, sorted by date. If I happen to be late inputting a card into Photoshop, it can sometimes be hard to sort out only the ones I just imported. There must be a way to either turn that feature on or off - it's apparently OFF on my copy!

HT1473 Only HALF of the name gets imported

I love classical, however the names of songs are typically long and have a lot of similar words "15 [Orgel Büchlein] Helft mir Gotts Güte preisen, BWV 613."
When I drag the songs into my itunes library only part of the song name is there! "[Orgel-Bchlein]-=Helft mir Go" This is is the name I got from the above song.
Here are some examples of what I mean: , as you can see the name gets cut off.
At this point I'm completly stumped. I have been typing the names in by hand but no one wants to do that!
Any sugesstions?

I notice all the titles are exactly the same length in your picture, which leads to me to ask if you are sure this isn't simply the end of the column as it goes into the next column? Do you see three full stops at the end of each title?
Like so:
The ... indicates that the title extends beyond the column's end. Notice the area I have ringed. If you put the mouse over that dividing line, you should be able to click-and-drag the column to the width you want, thus showing more (or all) of the title.
If it isn't that, have you looked at the File/Get Info/Info/Name box to see what is actually typed in there? Again, if it's a really long title, you may have to put the cursor into the field and move the cursor to the end so that the title scrolls.
If the tilte in the Name box is truncated, that suggests that the Gracenote dadatbase that iTunes uses has only what you see. In the unlikely event that this is the case, there probably isn't much you can do about it other than type in the mssing information yourself.
