Reboot cycle only when disconencted from base

Hi.
I have an iphone 1.1.4
The screen froze while playing music and would not reboot. I did the home + power reset and it sent it into an endless reboot cycle. I attempted to restore via itunes and it gave me error 2003. After 4 or 5 tries i got it to restore, now when i remove it from the cradle a black line appears 1/2 inch from the bottom of the screen, and the phone slowly fades to white and resumes the reboot cycle. Once i plug it back into the cradle it works fine, as long as i keep it plugged in. Any suggestions? I have previously dropped the phone and it is now dented so i dont think apple warranty applies.
this phone has NOT BEEN JAILBREAKED or bricked or whatever.
EDIT: i tried unplugging the usb cable from the pc while keeping the phone in its cradle, and it still turns off. any suggestions would be much appreciated.

There is a setting that enables a password both when waking from sleep AND when "waking" from screen saver.
Is there a way to require a password ONLY when waking from sleep, but NOT when "waking" from screen saver?

It would appear that the two are inextricably linked. On the other hand, do you really need the screen saver? With an LCD screen it isn't really doing anything useful - you can't burn in static images nearly as easily as you can with a CRT display - and if you are using a laptop you would do much better to use the Energy Saver prefs pane to sleep the display after a period - this will extend the life of the backlight - and AFAIK no password is involved.

Office jet pro 8600 how to default to black ink only when printing from my ipad

Is there a way to set an option to print black ink only when printing from my Ipad 2?
When I use the print icon the only option that shows is double page. I would like to be able to print black only.
I can set that option when printing from my pc....

Hi,
Airprint does not support Black ink only printing, however the HP ePrint app allow it.
Be aware that the option is only available for documents (e.g Office files, PDFs, Web pages and emails) but not for Photo files.

Colors not printing correctly - Only When Printing from Reader 9

I have recently been having problems printing color PDF's using Reader 9. Yellows are printing as blue, blues as pink, pink as grey, etc. I have no problems printing any other types of photos, documents, or powerpoint presentations so I am assuming it is some setting in Reader. My printer is an HP Color LaserJet CM1015. Any help diagnosing this problem would be greatly appreciated!

It is using sRGB and that is the only color profile available.
In addition, when I try to print 4 slides per page and 1 slide per page, the colors are completely different than when I try to print 2 slides per page.
I have tried changing settings in print options and put them back to default and nothing I do changes the issue. Again, it only occurs when printing from Reader. Everything else prints colors perfectly fine.

Keychain is read-only when waking from sleep

So, when waking from sleep my keychain becomes read-only and I'm forced to restart since many of the applications I tend to use (itunes, safari, skype. messages and disk utility) start giving me error messages or are unresponsive. I've tried repairing the keychain, deleting and creating a new keychain, reinstalling the OS (10.8), resetting the ACLs using the recovery partition, repairing permissions using the recovery partition. The only thing I haven't tried is wiping out the drive and installing the OS anew which I would like to avoid . I am on a 2010 13" macbook pro using 10.8.3. I don't think it started after an update. I did recently install a new hard drive since the previous hard drive died. I used time machine to restore my apps and user account. Advice anyone? Thanks

Well I spoke to soon. The problem started a few weeks later. Since then I have installed the OS on to a new hard drive. I did import my user account from a time machine backup but did not import the Apps and System settings. I created a new account and moved my media and documents from my old account to the new account. I then deleted the old account. After all that I am still getting the read-only problem with Keychain. It now happens while I am using my laptop, not just when it wakes from sleep. As I mentioned before the issue is intermittent, about once or twice a week. The last occurrence happened a few minutes after I booted up. I have pasted the log below. I have taken it in to Apple and they ran a check-up and everything came back ok. I'm concerned because my apple care ends in about a week. Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Updating iOS when away from base computer

I am on extended absence from the U.S. (and my iMAC) but took my iPod Touch with me, satisfied with its current library of music and photos. But now it won't download most applications because they require at least iOS 3.x and many podcasts will no longer play, presumably for the same reason.
Is there any way to update my iOS from another computer at my present location without losing all my music and photos? When I try, there's always a warning that they will be lost. For that matter, given that hundreds of thousands of apps can be downloaded directly, why doesn't Apple make iOS updates available through the App Store?

Changing your computer will always have this effect. To save your apps and media, back up manually, here's how to:
Make sure your new computer is authorized in iTunes. Disable autosync in itunes, connect your ipod, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.
This will save data, pictures and settings to itunes. See what's included in this backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your ipod got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made after you upgraded your ipod to 3.1

Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.

How to recieve new mail on a Blackberry only when away from computer?

Hi all!
I just bought a BlackBerry 7250. I got my email mail set up on it just fine, but I'd like to only receive mail when I'm away from my computer (when it's asleep or powered off)...it's not of much use to be getting emails on my BB when I'm sitting at my computer and they're popping up right in front of me.
I figured I would be able to do this by somehow rigging Mail to do so (something with downloading messages from the server, etc). I know it must have something to do with the computer figuring out when my mail is being downloaded to my mail program from my pop server, and sending when it's not. Can someone give me a clue?

I use two ways - not very sophisticated
On my pop account, I set the preferences to delete mail on server immediately after download
On BlackBerry, I delete the mail account when I am near the computer and re-enter when I want mail

Premiere pro cc crashing ONLY when opening from file shortcut

When I'm opening PP from the taskbar, it works fine and I am happy girl.
But then I'm not so happy if I'm trying to open the files from my desktop, because PP crashes as soon as it opens

Mail Delivery Error only when sending from certain email accounts

I posted in another thread regarding this however the problem has seemed to get more interesting.
On a whim i decided to change which e-mail account I was sending from and re-sent the exact same PDF document from my MobileMe(instead of Gmail) and it worked perfectly!! got the e-print confirmation about it preparing for printing and then whalla the print! Went back to try gmail and got the Mailer Deamon error again:

could it be specifically related to Gmail or googles servers? Are there specific mail providers that work/don't work(for example MobileMe vs Gmail vs Yahoo, BlackBerry, etc...)
Any help is greatly appreciated in advance.

and while I had read that information and appreciate you re-providing that I'm still not sure exactly what that tells me. In both cases I was using Apple's Mail (once to send from a Gmail account which failed and once from MobileMe win succeeded) and then again from my BlackBerry handhelp(in which case neither account worked)
since both Apple Mail, Blackberry and also Gmail are "tested" I'm assuming you're pointing out the "testing does not guarentee full compatibility" portion of this statement which to me is misleading. If I'm using only "tested" clients but having problems it feels slightly dishonest to be marketing this product as complete. While I am optimistic about the many possibilities offered by this printer I am disappointed at present by the limited and seemingly premature release of "e-print" as a whole.
Any other potential workarounds you can think of?

Slow boot but only when booting from main hard drive

Hi... For some time now I've noticed that my MacBook Pro is seemingly taking an inordinate amount of time to boot up... I timed it today and it takes 105-120 seconds to fully boot up... I also have an external firewire hard drive that I use as one way to back up my Mac by using Super Duper to clone the MacBook Pro drive onto this external drive. Today I decided to set the external drive as the startup drive so I could do some tests on that system. Twas my intention to shut off some startup items and see what impact, if any, those might have on boot time... But before I made any changes to this cloned system, I noticed that, with no changes made at all, it was clearly twice as fast on booting as was the boot time when I was running off the main hard drive... I was surprised by this and tested the boot times several times and it was fairly consistent... It takes about one minute to fully boot when running off my recently cloned external firewire drive and closer to two minutes when booting off the main Macintosh HD on the MacBook Pro... Anyone have any ideas why this might be the case???? Any input would be much appreciated.... thanks... bob..

Boot from the external drive, erase the internal drive, then restore the clone to the internal drive.

Getting "Network Connection Failure 903" *only* when connecting from a LAN with a similar setup

Hello there, We recently bought a WD My Cloud EX2100 for family storage and we're quite happy with it. We configured the Android mobile app and it works perfectly either in the local network, from the WiFi at work or from the 4G networks in our smartphones. However, we live in two houses with very similar network configurations (same IP range, same IPs assigned to similar devices, e.g. 192.168.1.1 is the router in both places and 192.168.1.254 are other network gadgets, specifically at one house the WD NAS device, and at the other a WiFi repeater). The problem is that at the house with the WiFi repeater in the same IP address as the NAS in the other house, we cannot use the Android or Windows apps to connect to My Cloud services. Everywhere else, it works just fine, but not there. I believe it's wrongly detecting the network as the home network for the NAS device and tries to connect through 192.168.1.254 (haven't had the time to test this though). Have you had any similar issues? What can I do to fix this? Is there any documentation on it? Thanks! Best regards,José Devezas

I have checked it and the issue really is the local network with a similar configuration. I disconnected the WiFi repeater using the same IP address as the NAS on the other network and it worked just fine. It's quite a stupid bug, that needs fixing.

Fingerprint login not working when resumning from sleep

Hello,
I changed HDD to SSD and did *fresh* install, not from rescue discs.
Everything is working as expected except except fingerprint login -- instead of logging I got an error:
The computer is locked. Only logged user can unlock it.

I got this error only when resumimng from sleep/hibernate, I can normaly use FPR when logging right after reboot or if I launch FPR software.
Software were installed via Lenovo System Update, nothing manually, using Lenovo Fingerprint Software v.3.3.2.27
Fingerprints are present from previous enrollment/installation.
Any help appreciated,

Looking over some of the fingerprint reader solutions on the lenovo support site, I saw that they Fingerpring Software for your machine, the T500 Win 7 64 Bit is at version 3.3.2.50. Make few columns of Excel file read only when downloaded

Hi Experts,
Is there any way we can set few of the columns in excel sheet as read only when downloaded from SAP.
We have requirement where a program will generate a report and download it into an excel file on desktop. When the file is downloaded, two of its columns should be non editable.
I know complete sheet of excel can be protected using OLE, can we protect few columns also using OLE?

Occasional sharp 'beep' sound when transition from a photo to a video

Hi guys-
I've been looking everywhere trying to solve this without any luck (doesnt seems like many out there with such problem).
I'm compiling a video for a family event (comprising of still photos and video clips) but i noticed that occasionally when the compilation play from a still to a video clip- it'll emit a sharp 'beep' noise.
This is what i checked and confirm so far-
1. it happens only when moving from a photo to a video (but not always occur).
2. the video clip has original sound volume set to 0.
3. original video clip does not contain the beep.
4. background song does not contain the beep.
5. not all transition from photo following video produce such beep.
6. the beep still happens even with the background song removed (technically no voice element in the project).
Can anyone share any ideas/experience around this?

Does this happen just when playing in iMovie, or after you've rendered the video into a finalized stand-alone file? If you haven't exported the movie yet, I'd try that and see if the beep is still there.

Kernel panic when resuming from sleep

I've been getting random kernel panics on my MacBook Pro when resuming from sleep. That is, only when resuming from sleep - otherwise the computer is fine.

Yes, every log entry ends with that "invalid frame pointer 0xbffff358" bit.
The only thing I can surmise is that the memory (factory installed) is faulty, given that the frame pointer address is always the same.
Can anyone shed some light on this i.e. does this sound like I'm on the right track?
