Reboot isn't working?

It went dead and I charged it for about ten minutes and the low battery sign was showing, then it went blank and now it won't show the charging sign and it won't turn on. It's been on the charger all night now and nothing has happened. I tried the reboot where you simutaneaously (however you spell that) hold down the home and lock buttons, NOTHING HAPPENED. I've read about similar problems to mine and they did the reboo and it turned on. Why isn't mine??
oh.. I also dropped it in the toilet a few days ago, don't worry it was empty, but it worked perfectly fine after that for about two days!

Most likely Water Damage. Clean iPhone charging port with clean toothbrush and small amount of Isopropyl Alcohol. If this does not help, then maybe battery is all that needs to be replaced, or just the charging port assembly with flex cable needs to be replaced, or the water damaged the Power Management Circuitry and no simple fix is possible.

  • When using touch id reboot isn't working as normal

    Dear,
I've just bought an iPhone 6. I restored from a backup from a year ago from my iphone 4s on ios 7 ( don't know if it has something to do with it. So I mention it).
When booting without touch id on the phone boots well. When I enable touch id and then reboot the phone boots but then just shows my background image. No slide to unlock or whatever. Just my background... Then I need to hold the home button for 2 seconds and then the screen flips and there comes phone locked and the phone is working like normal.
Is this normal ios 8 behavior and touch id behavior if you reboot or is there something wrong?
    kind regards,

    http://hints.linuxfromscratch.org/hints/dsp_devfsd.txt
there is some help right there.
they give you a few options in there.
You can have the devices set with permissions that you specify each startup (mainly what the article focuses on)
You can also have devfs 'remember' its previous settings
edit this section in your /etc/devfsd.conf to look like this:
    # Uncomment this if you want permissions to be saved and restored
    # Do not do this for pseudo-terminal devices
    REGISTER ^pt[sy] IGNORE
    CREATE ^pt[sy] IGNORE
    CHANGE ^pt[sy] IGNORE
    DELETE ^pt[sy] IGNORE
    REGISTER .* COPY /dev-state/$devname $devpath
    CREATE .* COPY $devpath /dev-state/$devname
    CHANGE .* COPY $devpath /dev-state/$devname
DELETE .* CFUNCTION GLOBAL unlink /dev-state/$devname
    RESTORE /dev-state
You should just have to uncomment those lines.
    then as root:
    # cd /dev
    # chown -R root.users sound/
    # chmod 774 sound/
    # chmod 664 sound/*
I think that should take care of it
This assumes you have already probed your modules (or have them compiled into the kernel)

I have an Intel based iMac that has just developed two small spots on the screen - they look light brighter spots on the screen. One 1/8" circle at bottom right and a tiny circle at top right.  The fading on and off light on area surrounding the screen isn't working anymore either.  Has anyone else had similar problems?  Any solutions?  Thanks!

One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

  • My Ipod Touch's wi-fi isn't working correctly?

So, one day my iTouch' textingapp stops letting me get and send texts. Then I went over to a friend's house and we tried to get on her wifi but she never remembered he password and kept enterring incorrect ones.
Then when I got home, it would connect to my wifi but whenever I would wanna use an app involvig internet it would never work or load, then I tried restoring it and re synching my setings, and it still isn't working.
    Help?

This is the standard set of steps to fix most WiFi problems. Probably a bit of overkill in your case, but better to do all of the steps.
    1. Reboot your router - unplug the A/C power cord.
    2. Reset Network Settings on the touch - tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
    3. After the touch restarts, log back into your network by tapping Settings > WiFi > Other and re-entering your network name, security, and network password.
If you continue to have problems, write back with some additional details, error messages, etc.

  • My email isn't working on iOS 7, saying that my password is wrong when it is correct, I now can't send any emails but I can receive them and when I do I get three lots of them

My email isn't working on iOS 7, it is saying that my password is wrong when it is correct, I retype it in settings and try again it still says it is wrong, although I can revive emails but when I do I get three of the same thing and I can't send any emails, this all started when I downloaded iOS 7.

    Hello,
Actually i also had changed my gmail password like to the above. Andyour recommendation seems to be the same to rebooting iPod touch, which didn't work for me when i had the same gmail problem with the incorrect password error in the continuous manner. However the problem has gone when i removed the gmail account so as to create the same one.
    Thanks

  • My IPad charger isn't working, My IPad charger isn't working

My iPad Mini charger isn't working and I don't know what to do....

Not normal. Take it to an Apple Store for evaluation.
    Make a Genius Bar Reservation
    http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/
Could be the charger, cable or iPad. Plug the cable into the iPad & computer. If it says "Not Charging", the cable is probably good. (It is charging but very slowly.)
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
And this - Unplug the charger from the iPad and then replug. May resume charging.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • I have turned off Siri's access when my phone is locked, but it isn't working!!

I have followed the instructions for turning off Siri when the phone is locked, but it isn't working.  I even rebooted...and you can still get Siri to engage!  Any ideas??

I'm having the same problem after I moved my iPhoto Library over to an external harddrive (and then tried to access it on separate occasions from different machines). I also found that my iPhoto had "locked" these directories somehow, and I checked the "Get Info" details: sure enough, one of the things that should have said "Read and Write", didn't.
But when I tried to change those permissions (including the "Apply to enclosed items"), it gave me this error:
"The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items."
Seems that I can't give more permissions because I don't have enough permissions to do that! Do I have to move the owners to "System" from my own account "b" or what?
(My poor "photos to be iphoto'd" directory is filling up quickly while waiting for iPhoto to be fixed.) Thanks!

  • Hey Siri Isn't Working

EDIT: Scratch that. It is working now. I just rebooted my phone. After entering my password at startup and waiting a minute, it now works. It seems that rebooting fixed it. But I'll leave the question up in case it can help anyone else.
I updated my iPhone 4S last night to iOS 8 - everything working fine so far as I can tell. Except, Hey Siri isn't working.
Yes, it is plugged in and yes, the plugged in icon is the lightning bolt next to the battery icon at the top right. Yes, Siri works when I just use the button. Yes, the microphone works as I use it to talk to people on the phone all the time with no problem (and also Siri in normal mode which, as I stated, works).
Yes, I turned on the option in General > Siri and "Allow "Hey Siri"" is on (green).
So I'm a little confused. I searched the web and I've seen nobody else have this problem. Is something broken? Is there some other secret setting to set?
It's a 2 month old iPhone 4S, brand new, out of the box, 16gb, and not sure what else to say about it.
If anyone has any clues, please let me know. It's not dramatically bad that it isn't working, but I am wondering why. My iPhone usually stays plugged in next to me at my desk, so it would be useful. But as I can reach it in about 0.1ms flat, it wouldn't be that dramatic if it didn't actually work.
Would be nice though, so please let me know if you have any ideas.
    Thanks.

I had the same problem initially, because I speak next to iphone 4s speakers (bottom). if you put your mouth close to front cam, volume button, etc., "hey siri" will work.

  • HT4623 After installing iOS 7 my microphone isn't working. No recording , no one can hear me on Skype

After installing ios7 my microphone isn't working.  No one can hear me on Skype.  Recording device arnt working too.  I rebooted the device as well downloaded Skype again.   Please help me

A restore will not work either.  I went to the Apple genius bar and they did everything, but nothing worked.  "It is your hardware".   No, it is not.  It is Apple's IOS 7 software that was not properly coded/tested before they released it.  Now they will not own up to the problem.  There are too many people with the same issue that suddenly happened after the IOS 7 install.  Come on, Apple.  Fix this!  These are expensive devices and many of us will not buy another iPad if we run a risk like this.

  • Secondary click isn't working!

I'm using a MacBook Pro Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013 and the secondary click, even though enabled on the trackpad system preferences, isn't working.
Anyone who has been dealing with the same problem or has any idea how to solve it? The only way how to make it work seems to me by pressing ctrl+click, which has turned out be quite annoying everytime I need it...
    Thanks!

I'm appreciating this discussion. I've been on 10.7.5 for several months (late adopter) and only started having Mighty Mouse problems a couple of days ago.
Like Dave, my Wacom tablet is working just fine. (Well, it got a little erratic yesterday--lost its sense of orientation and I thought I might need to recalibrate--but I rebooted the system and it got its brains back.)
The Mighty Mouse, however, continues to only respond reliably to the left click.
I did have more problems. The scroll would only work sometimes, and then only down page (not up again)--"trackball cleaning" (unplugging and rolling it around on paper) seemed not to produce results but did fix that problem.
The right click is still a nothing, and I need it. I've checked all settings under both "mouse" and "universal access." (Wacom pen right-clicks great, as usual. Good thing I have multiple input devices.)
I'm downloading the Overdrive software, and if that doesn't work I may go get a Logitech mouse.

  • TS3274 My camera isn't working

My camera on ace time isn't working and I cannot take any photos

Sometimes, this helps. Give it a try. Close the camera app in the recents tray and reboot the iPad.
Tap the home button once. Then tap the home button twice and the recents tray will appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button twice.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
