Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

How can I fix my mac mini g4 1.5ghz with 2gig ram which gets the must reboot message randomlly? what is the reason? Hard disk has no errors.
Based on your description, you are having a kernel panic.
Can you post some of your crash logs? Might be a clue. See Mac OS X: How to log a kernel panic http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2546
Understanding crash logs isn’t easy and it’s hard (sometimes impossible) to decipher the cause of the problem. Take a look at Apple’s Crash Reporter document at http://developer.apple.com/technotes/tn2004/tn2123.html Also look at Tutorial: An introduction to reading Mac OS X crash reports

Kernel panics are usually caused by a hardware problem – frequently RAM, a USB device or a Firewire device. What external devices do you have connected? When trying to troubleshoot problems, disconnect all external devices except your monitor, keyboard and mouse. Do you experience the same problems?
To eliminate RAM being the problem, Look at this link: Testing RAM @ http://guides.macrumors.com/Testing_RAM Then download & use Memtest & Ramber.
Do you have an Apple Hardware Test disc (the AHT is on the Install/Restore DVD that came with your Mac)? Running the Apple Hardware Test in Loop Mode is an excellent troubleshooting step for finding intermittent hardware problems. It is especially useful when troubleshooting intermittent kernel panics. If Loop Mode is supported by the version of the Apple Hardware Test you are using, you run the Extended Test in Loop Mode by pressing Control-L before starting the test. Looping On should appear in the right window. Then click the Extended Test button. The test will run continuously until a problem is found. If a problem is found, the test will cease to loop, indicating the problem it found. If the test fails, be sure to write down the exact message associated with the failure. In some cases, RAM problems did not show up until nearly 40 loops, so give it a good run.
May be a solution on one of these links.

Upgraded but keep getting reboot message upon reboot?
Please someone help me! I started seeing fishy stuff happen so I thought I would re-install mozilla-firefox was running 3.6 version, went to upgrade it asked me to reboot to make the changes go into effect. Upon rebooting I have the same message and nothing happened almost like its stuck in a loop! I have tried every method to reboot my computer even shutting down leaving it for at least 10 mins start back up try to open firefox! Boom same error messege "
Have a look at the solution to a similar problem: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/921375?s=%22Your+computer+must+be+restarted+to+complete+a+previous+upgrade+of+Firefox.+Do+you+want+to+reboot+now%3F%22&r=0&e=sph&as=s
If that doesn't work, you can uninstall FF and do a clean install. You'll prob lose your bookmarks, history, etc, though, so if you do this set up Sync first! https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/what-firefox-sync-and-how-do-i-use-it -
Screen becomes black with a reboot message in the center
During normal operations a black translucent curtain drops from the top of my Late 08 Macbook Pro's screen and a multi-lingual message box appears in the center of the screen telling me I must reboot.
This never happened prior to installing Snow Leopard.Hi,
Your computer is panicking for some reason. They, the panics, can be easily resolved. Try in here...

Need to re-load OS but am getting "reboot" message
I gave my neighbor's son (16 y.o.) my old (2001) PowerMac desktop. It may have had Tiger on it but, anyway, for whatever reason, he needs to re-load the OS but all he gets is a gray screen and a message telling him to re-boot the computer. I have my old copy of Snow Leopard that I can put on the Mac, but need to know how to do this, given the issues I just described. Any suggestions of knowledge base articles you can point me to will be appreciated. Thanks.
If they're grey discs and not the ones that came with that Mac, they won't work.
A retail Leopard disc (black with a big X on it) would work, provided the Mac meets the minimum requirements for Leopard;
Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard requires:
A Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or Power PC G4 (867 MHz or faster) processor
512 MB memory or more
A DVD drive for installation
9 GB of available disk space or more
OS9 or Classic mode is not supported in Leopard.
The specs for 2001 indicate that only one model introduced in July 2001 meets the processer spec.
Any other models from that year won't boot anything later than Tiger, and once again that must be a proper retail disc (also black with the big X).
Similarly with Panther (Cant remember what the Panther retail disc looks like) or Jaguar.
As the original OSs were OS9 and OS X 10.0.4 it's unlikely you could get replacements from Apple, and frankly 10.0 isn't worth the bother. I found it barely useable.
For the record, the discs that ship with the Mac are part of the package and should be retained and passed on with the Mac. -
5G Appears to cause dual G5 to hang with reboot message
I have a 5G and a 3G. Since I have loaded the 5G up to near full, I have had my G5 dual processor with tiger hangup during update with the reboot screen. This has never happened with the 3G ipod.
5G is nearly full with audio, photos, and videoI'm not sure what to make of it either exactly but will offer some suggestions.
Where the computer is starting but getting only a black screen I first thought pulling the ram. That it may be corrupted, the wrong ram, or a bad slot. Pulling the ram in that situation has and does work, in your case it didn't.
When a cpu fan doesn't run at all, it's a clear indication the fan itself, or power supply. But fans running to fast can also indicate a bad fan.
I don't believe it's a power supply, bad fan, hard drive, or battery. I seem to think a aging G5 computer having logic board failure? There appears to be alot of these same post with the same issues with these old G5's. -
Have been useing ff for past 10 years and love it. I did not delete ff 5 before i updated.
Firefox 2.0.0.20 is the last ever version of Firefox for Win98 / SE / ME.
You can get it from here, but you are better off using K-Meleon (derived from Firefox) or Opera instead an old version of Firefox:
[ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/2.0.0.20/win32/en-US/]
You can try KernelEx to get Firefox 3+ to work, but it would be very slow with an old PC of less than 750Mhz. 3.5 and later supposedly doesn't work.

A previous upgrade was not completed!
Rebooting does not work.
Can't even uninstall 3.6.18. Get the same '"must reboot'" message. If files already have been downloaded then you need to remove the files in the updates and updates\0 folder.
You can delete active-update.xml and updates.xml as well if present.
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\updates
Vista:
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox\updates
(%LOCALAPPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox)
The "Application Data" folder in XP/Win2K and the "AppData" folder in Vista/Windows 7 are hidden folders.
If there are problems with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
* Firefox 5.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
* Uninstall your current Firefox version.
* Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

[SOLVED] New slim, can't shutdown|reboot|suspend anymore
Hi!
I just upgraded slim, and i notice that i cannot suspend, shutdown and reboot anymore.
And to mount usb drive, i am asked for my password.
After the upgrade i changed /etc/slim.conf,pacnew to suit my needs and then sudo mv /etc/slim.conf.pacnew /etc/slim.conf .
My .xinitrc is the same, so, where is the problem?
here there are my slim.conf:

Solution
Ok, do:
ck-list-sessions
There were two sessions for myself. So, the new slim is starting your exec line already with a console kit session. This is new behavior. It didn't before.
So, I modified my exec line to remove "ck-launch-session" in .xinitrc to:
exec dbus-launch --exit-with-session startxfce4
Reverted the changes I made to the shutdown/restart policy and rebooted. Shutdown, restart, mounting USB drive: they all work again now.
Edit: from even later on in this thread, just:
exec startxfce4
As your .xinitrc exec line should be sufficient for practically anyone. "startxfce4" does the dbus-launch itself.
Original post here:
Changed in my /etc/slim.conf:
default_path /bin:/usr/bin:/usr/local/bin:/sbin:/usr/sbin
Same issue, in Action buttons Shutdown and Restart grayed out.
in .xinitrc, launch line:
exec ck-launch-session startxfce4
Launch line was:
exec ck-launch-session dbus-launch --exit-with-session startxfce4
But, same issue with that launch line. Was googling and I found results saying dbus-launch is contained within startxfce4.

Messages no longer working after 10.9.2 update
Hello.
I ran the 10.9.2 update last night. Immediatly after rebooting, Messages on my Mac was no longer functioning properly in that it is no longer in sync with my iphone. People I have been chatting with can no longer send me text via iMessage but now must send via standard SMS text. Additionally, their texts no longer show up on my Mac (althouth they are coming through on my iPhone), but whatever I send via Messages still shows up immediately on my iPhone. Messages is now totally jacked and I use it a ton for both work and friends. Any thoughts?

Download of Firefox 21 crashed, reboot no good, can't open existing nor download 22
I downloaded 21, then tried to open Firefox. I received a popup saying I had to reboot the computer. I did this several times. I still can't open Firefox or download another version. I keep getting the reboot message. I've thought of uninstalling and starting over, but I don't want to loose my bookmarks. What can I do?
NOTE: You will not lose bookmarks by reinstalling Firefox.
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
#*'''Windows:'''
#**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
#**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.

IPad keeps rebooting itself after updating to iOS 8.3
Just updated an iPad 3 to iOS 8.3 from iOS 8.2 . Update took a while to install (over 20 minutes) and then the Apple logo appeared for a bit then the screen went black for about 10 minutes. The device was fine for a while and then started rebooting itself, hung on the Apple logo for about 10 minutes and now suddenly it came back. All apps were up to date. The device had not had any issues prior to the update. Has anyone else had this issue?
Thanks! No, this is definitely an iOS 8.3 bug, Allen. I have an iPad mini (original, 24/12 old) and an iPhone 5 (not S, 18/12 old). Updated both from 8.2 to 8.3. I keep them and the apps up to date and run a tight ship.
Since the update, the iPhone has been behaving normally.
However, starting immediately after the update, the iPad has been rebooting: when you plug it into the power and it goes to sleep, it reboots itself. This NEVER ONCE happened before the 8.3 update -- and I think I started with this iPad on iOS5 or at least 6, with all the updates inbetween. If you want to use it again shortly after plugging it in, you have to wait about five-ten minutes (as other have reported). So far, it has always rebooted successfully. But you do have to put in your passcode in response to "you have to enter your passcode upon rebooting" message; and tell it to trust your current computer connect once again.
It just now rebooted itself once again when plugged into the computer USB port, while in the middle of a sync (the screen went to sleep). Not happy about that; potential to damage data.
I confirm: this NEVER happened before 8.3, and it now reliably happens EVERY TIME I plug the iPad into power and it goes to sleep. I have three power sources (computer USB, individual Apple charger, aftermarket reserve battery charter) and it happens with all of them.
As far as I can tell, it only reboots itself once per charger-plugin, and doesn't do so again until you unplug it and plug it back in again (somewhat confident, but not 100% sure, of that).
Hope that helps. The bug needs squashing, and soon. -
IOS 8 Messages stops deleting text
In iOS Messas, there is the feature where you can tap and hold a message and it comes up with Copy More. Tap More and in the top left you get Delete All or you can tap the little circle on the left side of each message you want to delete, then tap the trash can in the bottom left to delete selected messages. I like to keep the list of names I message most in Messages, that way I don't have to start a new message and find the address of the person I want to message. So, I periodically go through and delete conversations in Messages. Problem, I can delete 2-3 conversations before the Copy More stops coming up. To fix this I have to reboot Messages. It becomes annoying when there are 6-8 people I'm clearing out conversations from. I'm guessing this is an under utilized feature of Messages because I have yet to find anyone talking about this not working. Apple has yet to fix the bug. Any suggestions for a fix would be helpful.
Try deleting Messages from Notification screen. Turn off all options in Message settings. Restart your phone. Go back into settings and turn badge alert back on, Sounds and turn back on the sound you use for Message alerts.
