Rebooting iPod takes hours

Hey guys, is this normal? I just replaced my computer, so I'm trying to install iTunes on my new machine. It told me to plug in a format my iPod, and it's been 'rebooting' for something like 3 hours now. What's the deal? Any help is much appreciated.

  • Ipod touch takes hours to sync

iTouch (v. 2.2) using iIunes (v. 8.0.2.20) takes several hours to sync. When reviewing the summary it actually "syncs" quickly but takes hours and hours to "backup."

    Hi tbarnardiii,
This could be a USB connection issue. Make sure the iPod is directly connected to a high seed USB 2 port and try the tips in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1286

  • IPod wont get past "Rebooting iPod"

I have a fourth gen. 20 gig iPod. I had songs on it about a month ago, but the songs would load slowly. I plugged it into my computer and restored it back to factory settings. I got my start-up disk that came with the iPod and put it in and connected the iPod to my pc. I got to the screen that had option "format" and i click that. It finished its loading bar then went to a screen that says "Rebooting iPod" and has a loading bar. I leave the iPod to do its stuff on its own. i can hear the iPod's internals working, and the rebooting screens progress bar gradually goes to 100% and then starts over.(have had it in for about 6 hours now)

Close the instal wizard, and all the error boxes that follow. Restart the wizard, but don't connect your Ipod till it tells you to (dunno if that actually makes a different but saves you time just in case), it should work fine second time round.

  • Ipod takes forever, replacement ipod? please read

My ipod takes the LONGEST time to update songs from itunes to my ipod mini. It took at least an hour to put 50 songs on my ipod, compared to its usual time at about 2-3 minutes. Also, my ipod says on itunes when i drag the songs to put on the ipod, it says, "updating ipod, do not disconnect" but it doesn't put the songs on the ipod. I've had so many problems with this ipod, if I send it back will they give me a mini ((even though they're not made anymore)) or will they replace it with a nano or a regular ipod?
    thanks!

i really have no clue what USB i have. previous problems made me create a new "drive" for the ipod. i have had so many problems with this ipod. earlier today, i was in the car when realized that for the 3rd time, my entire ipod was once again deleted. I just tried putting new songs on the ipod and got an error. I'm getting very sick of this and am definately sending the ipod back. Question, my name is on the back of the ipod -- will they still send me a new one? thanks

  • TS3276 I suddenly cannot send e-mail messages. It takes hours to send. I haven't changed any settings.

My mail does not let me send messages. It can take hours for it to be sent. I have not changed any settings, it just suddenly started yesterday.

    Hi there Bahtat67,
If I understand correctly you can send mail without issue, but you cannot receive new email. I would recommend you use these steps specifically from the following article, named:
Get help with Mail on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
    Restart your iOS device.
Delete the affected email account from your device.
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    Tap the affected email account.
    Tap Delete Account.
    Add your account again.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • Apple tv takes hours to load. Fast Internet connection. Did apple tech and cable tech. No joy. Bought another apple tv. No joy. Suggestions?

Apple tv takes hours to load. Apple tech cable tech contacted. No joy. Bought another apple tv. Same  no better. Fast internet connection. Any suggestions. Net flix loads very fast no problem. Only apple side.

Try posting in the Apple TV forum.  You posted in the iPod touch forum.

  • Why does it take hours to sync and backup a 12GB data?

Does anyone know why it takes hours and hours to just sync and backup my 16GB iPhone 3GS before it installs the iOS5? This is getting rediculous! Why do Apple force us to use iTunes?

Shouldn't take that long although waiting a long time in between syncs can create longer backup times...  ie more data, apps, etc... to back up etc...  Make sure both iPad and iTunes are most current versions.  Make sure you are using the iPad sync cord that came with the device and not another from a iPhone or iPod.  Cables can screw up the deal.
Start there first and let us know how it goes.

  • Shutdown/reboot occasionally takes a long time - log attached

Shutting down or rebooting occasionally takes around a minute to finish. It always hangs when rebooting from gnome, but shuts down normally when gdm is disabled. Hoping somebody can help me figure out the issue. The log was generated from following the instructions here (as according to the wiki).

It works fine with lxdm, so I guess this is a gdm specific problem. I'd prefer to use gdm though, if only because it supports suspend on lid close.

  • My iPad takes hours to charge even when I turn it off I have bought like 6 chargers and my iPads been sent back twice and it still doesn't work when I'm charging it

My iPad takes hours to charge even when I turn it off I have bought like 6 chargers and my iPads been sent back twice and it still doesn't work when I'm charging it what do I do ??

I am also having the same problem.. Its too much annoying and its unfortunate nobody at apple support has anyclue of what is happening?
... This is happening almost most of the time keeping my phone down most of the times.

  • Why does it take hours to import mp4 files into iMovie

I have some home movies I imported from VHS-C and compressed to mp4 files and now I want to start going through them in iMovie but it takes hours just to import a single clip (~575 meg).
What can I do to speed this up? Would getting a Mac Pro with loads of RAM and CPU's help? Would converting to a different video format before I import work?
Right now I have all this video I converted to digital and thus far spent days just importing and haven't been able to do anything with it yet!
I'm using an iMac core duo with 2 gig RAM and the upgraded video card (best one they had at the time).
    Any help is appreciated!

This worked fine for me, was exactly what I wanted.
1 - Create the project in iMovie HD and then save and close.
2 - Locate the file on your computer. Ctrl-click on the file and it will say "show package contents". Click on that.
3 - You will then see some folder items inside that. Open up "Media" and then drag and drop your mpeg file into it.
4 - When you reopen the project, you will be notified that there are files in your trash. You want to view them to find the file you just moved there.
5 - Take that file and drag it back onto the project and you're in.
    A major blessing!

  • When I am downloading songs it takes hours for it to finish?

I am having trouble downloading things from the itunes store. My internet connection is fine, I can surf the web top speed, do what I need to do, but the things that I buy from itunes store it takes hours for it to finish. Even when I try to download my podcasts it doesn't goes though, it gives me an error 404 or the network timed out. It happened after I have updated my itunes. Any suggestions?
