Rebuild only works temporarily

Has anyone had an issue with Mail 6.6(Mountain Lion) where a mailbox won't show some new messages? When I rebuild using the command under the mailbox menu, it does work, and will show a missing email or two. The issue is that I might have to do it more than once per day, in order to see new messages that come in as the day progresses.
Also, the delivery of mail is slow, as well. It may show up on my phone 15 minutes before on the desktop and the preference is set to check every minute.

Thank you very much for your help. While looking at the logs, I noticed the screen saver was slowing it down so I turned that off. I was determined to let it run overnight to see if it could plow through the volume. Sure enough, it finally finished and everything looks fine. It didn't even take all night, but It did stop at 3 minutes, again for a couple of hours.
I have posted the log errors, in case anyone else is searching for this type of issue.

Hello all. I just bought a new iPod Touch 4G last week and have had issues with the Wifi. My iPod recognizes my Network and can connect to the Internet with all blue bars and I can use and access the Internet for a few minutes and then when I lock my iPod and 5 minutes later I unlock it, when I go to Safari it gives me the message "Safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the Internet." Oddly though when I access Google's home page it will connect. I use my laptop and it can connect to my Internet just fine and never loses the connect. I have tried resetting my network settings on my iPod but to no avail. I also reset my router and I turned it off for 30 seconds and back on. My main question for you all is: why can I connect to my Wifi connection and it have a full signal but yet it only works for a limited time?
Here are some details of my Wifi settings if any of you find this helpful:
IP Address is DHCP and it is 192.168.2.100
Subnet Mask is 255.255.255.0
Router is 192.168.2.1
DNS is 192.168.2.1, 192.168.2.1
Search Domains and Client ID are blank.
HTTP Proxy is Off.
*I have renewed my lease and "forgot my network" and neither of those solved anything.*
*I am using my Wifi at my house in the same room as the router and my iPod still can't connect.*
*My security is WPA2-Personal. Encryption type is AES.*
*My router is an SMCWBR14S-N4*
I have heard people say when you lock the iPod it will disconnect from the network but that sounded absurd since how are you expected to receive instant sports updates and emails when the Wifi isn't connected?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
P.S. My operating system is 4.3.3. I didn't see it listed in the drop down box hence I decided to make note of that here.

Update your router with the latest firmware from the manufacturer which is available here: http://www.smc.com/index.cfm?event=viewProduct&localeCode=EN_USA&cid=1&scid=119& pid=1697
Note that when you enter a URL the browser will contact the DNS server to translate the symbolic URL address to a numeric address (for example "www.cnn.com" -> 157.166.255.19). If you can connect to Google when you are having this problem but nowhere else this points to a DNS problem in your network. Since your router is identified as your DNS server it may be having a problem in this area.

Remote rsync via sudo only works temporarily after touching or opening /etc/sudoers

We are running an rsync backup of an OS X 10.9.1 Server from a Linux server via cron. Root is not enabled on the OS X server and the password for the admin user is handled via keys ala: http://www.linuxproblem.org/art_9.html . Rsync on the OS X server is version 3.0.6, plucked from Carbon Copy Cloner.
The rsync command run from the Linux server is:
rsync -aHXxsh --delete -e "ssh -t" --rsync-path="sudo /usr/local/bin/rsync -v" [email protected]:/Volumes/files/ /backup/files/
Our issue is that this works fine only temporarily after having either opened or touched the sudoers file on the OS X server. After a bit of time passes however (~10-15 minutes), we start seeing: "no tty present and no askpass program specified" responses and the rsync fails. OS X Server log entries showing the error, the touch command that fixes it (sudo visudo fixes it as well), then the successful rsync are:

The OS X server is running Backblaze and Time Machine and the issue persists with both Backblaze paused and Time Machine turned off, and also after reboots.

We have exempted the admin account from the password requirement for the rsync 3.0.6 command, which is from the depths of Carbon Copy Cloner and does support ACLs, xattrs, file-flags, etc.
Understood the admin account could now overwrite suoders via rsync, but for our environment am willing to accept this until the approach is revised.
I wasn't aware sudo cached authorization for all sessions of the same user (ie: once logged in via a terminal checking the sudoers file and the same user logging in again via the backup script), so that was very helpful for tracking down our issue, which is now resolved.

Can't clear location bar deleting only works temporarily privacy setting changes have no effect either

I have tried to clear location bar by deleting but items reappear when I hit the down arrow again. Changing privacy location bar setting to Nothing does not effect the drop downs, they are still there, clearing history doesn't remove them either. Using Firefox 3.6.13

Entries in the location bar drop down list with a yellow (blue on Mac) star at the right end are bookmarks. 
You can remove such a bookmarked item that shows in the list if you open that url in a tab and click the yellow star in the location bar. 
This will open the Edit This Bookmark dialog and you can click the Remove button to remove the bookmark.

Firefox only works after I re-boot my computer

I just got a new computer last week. It is running Windows 8 - 64 bit. I installed Firefox, used it for a week, set up my bookmarks, etc. and it worked fine. The other day when I logged in and opened Firefox, I couldn't click on anything - nothing would happen - it was like it was frozen. I went into Internet Explorer and also into Google Chrome and they both worked fine - I could click on things and it would do what it was supposed to do. So, I re-booted my computer and then Firefox worked fine. Same thing the next day, Firefox only worked after I re-booted my computer...and also today, same thing. Why is it frozen when I first go into it, but if I re-boot the whole computer, it works? Has me baffled. Any help would be appreciated, because it is my favorite browser. But if this keeps up, I won't be using it anymore. Thank you!
I have my home page set to Yahoo, so that's where it goes when I open it. When I get there, I can't click on my e-mail, nothing in the toolbar, it's totally frozen.

It's a Finder feature, related to Quick Look. You can hit the space bar in the file list to get a preview.
If that doesn't work, you may have an issue witha preference file or similar. I find rebuilding the launch databse works quite well resilving tis kind of thing, as does trashing Finder preferences

Photo Stream only working properly on iOS devices (especially delete function)?

I was planning on making my life a bit easier using photostream. But as soon as I started using this and testing it's behavior I ran into a lot of issues which make it more complex instead of easier I believe (when deleting photos). So here are some questions/issues I ran into, I hope a solution exists so I can start using photostream (instead of always connecting my iPhone to iTunes in order to sync my photos. I'm currently using my Windows 7 PC (and I was unable to test it on my macbook pro, as is currently being repaired). I have photostream enabled in the iPhone settings an on my iCloud panel on Windows.
1. When I want to remove a photo from the photo stream on my iPhone it is deleted (in the photostream tab) it's being deleted on the photostream (on my iphone and on my pc), but not on my camera-roll of my iPhone with which the photo was taken.
2. When I remove the photo on my camera-roll it is not deleted from my photostream. So I would be guessing that at least in this case or the previous case (1.) the photo should be deleted everywhere (or at least I should have somwhere in the settings an option to enable this behaviour, but I can not find this back in the settings on the iphone?). Remember I'm trying to make my life easier, not having the double amount of work to have an image deleted I don't want.
3. When I'm deleting a photo on the photostream on my pc, it is never deleted in the photostream on my iPhone (waited more then an hour to make sure the sync was done, with full battery and wifi enabled). Again trying to make it easier, so why should I deleted it once on my pc in the photostream and once on my iphone in the photostream (it's again the same image), and in the opposite way it is working though? 4. When I log in on the iCloud website, I can't find back my photos anywhere to see which ones are still really in the photostream.
I hope some or maybe all of this issues can be fixed with adapting some settings or something, so I can start using the photostream in a way it is useful and it's making any sense to me. As I said in the beginning I only have tested this on my iPhone/PC. When I have my macbook back, I will test it with it too, but honestly I'm a bit afraid to add another device to the stream, as things might behave even more weird.

Im having a similar problem. Photo Stream works on my Mac and iPhone, but not on my iPad 2. Strangely, if I take. Photo with my iPad, it shows up in the Photo Stream of the other two devices.
I tried to reset network settings, but did not work. Even tried to reboot.
Another strange observation is that the feature actually did work temporarily and I saw my photo stream, but it disappeared without me changing any settings. Perhaps that will be fixed in an update.

well, you know how it is - glitches that usually resolve with a hard reset etc
then a restore. then a factory restore....then ..... nothing fixes so I try the next step with apple online - fill out my serial number and find it is a couple of weeks out of date - and then with the holidays who has time to get to the apple store? this is my second 4s handset as it is - first one the glass cracked from L to R without any impact/damage etc - they changed it out automatically because it's a 'known fault' apparently - so technically, this handset is only 6 months old - but warranty is from original purchase date -
never imagined it would turn out to be a warranty issue with the phone - and hey maybe when I get a chance to go to the apple store they'll be sympathetic, but I won't be able to get there till at least Jan 4th as it is. On the other hand, another iOS update might resolve the issue - but how long till that release? at the moment I'm having to use my old 3gs for wifi and 4s for phone!!!

Mouse only works inside firefox after suspension

normaly I close my laptop and then when I open it mouse only works insider firefox, other aplicacions, even system task bar (windows 8.1) dont reconize my mouse, the only solution is close firefox which is very annoying if you have important work in your firefox tabs and need to work in other aplications outside firefox

i purchased a new hp dv7 notebook and the spacebar key will only work if i tap it in the center. This seems to be a hardware problem, either in the design of the keyboard itself or maybe on the way it was put together. Can anyone offer an explanation or a solution to this,which does not involve sending the machine back for a warranty replacement?
This is extremely annoying since it isnt possible to type without missing spaces or unless you type with a single finger.

I have a DV7T-4100 CTO and have the same probem. I just got off of the phone with HP support and they explained that they have to reset the bios and restore the software to the delivery configuration before they can look into the possibility that it is a hardware issue. As this would envolve me spending serveral hours restoring my system to the current configuration I was wondering if anyone has had this problem fixed, and if so, was is in the software, frimware or hardware. I am betting is in the hardware and wiping the computer clean is an unnecessary step. This is a business computer and I do not want to spend any unnecessary time rebuilding the software if it is unnecessary.

I have an Iad2 and ever since ios6-there are issues.I get occasional lock-ups and have to reboot. The WSJ app freezes when running their videos to the end. The only work-around is to stop the video before it's over. Worse than windows me !!!!!

My Ipad2 worked perfectly before ios6 upgrade. It now freezes occasionally and I have to reboot to get it to work. Also the WSJ app will now freeze if I try and run one of their videos that is imbedded in the article. My only work-around is to stop (press done) before the end of the video or I have to do a total reboot. The problems remind me of Windows ME . Will Apple resolve these issues or become more like Microsoft. Hopefully there will be a restore button in the future like Microsoft was forced to do because a lot of upgrades are just terrible. Am I crazy or are there other people having the same issues with ios6, or could this just be a coincidence and my ipad2 is starting to fail just when ios6 arrives ?

I know this will not help but, the bluetooth headset I purchased for my wife works great and it pairs with our car and our sound bar in the livingroom (Motorola Droid Razr) 98.72.16.XT912.Verizon.en.US
However I did not upgrade over the air but from a android web site and placed it on my external sd card. I believe this made the difference in why we had no issues and upgraded functionality has been great.
Please note when I mention these bluetooth devices I mean the Razr connects with no problems.
It also had no internet issues and none of the problems others have complained about in other threads.
unfortunately when you say thousands have these issues I cannot say that is accurate. The hope is when large numbers of owners have updated to the Jelly Bean and are complaining inmase then Motorola will issue a patch to verizon to get out to the affected users.
Of course now that Google owns Motorola Mobility and has laid off loads of workers it may never issue an os patch.

Apple, as I said, does not repair your iPhone. All hardware service issues are handled by replacing the unit. So they can't handle the home-button issue without also addressing the issue of the cracked screen, for which they'll almost certainly charge you. But you can make an appointment at an Apple Store or call Apple tech support and plead your case.

Hi since i updated to Mountain Lion, my Macbook pro 15" (december 2011) only works for 3 hours instead of 5 hours with Lion.
I've been waiting for 6 months now a release from Apple to fix this. Are you planning to do something for users like me?

Apple did not begin selling an unlocked version of the iPhone 4S in the US until 11/11/11. I believe it went on sale only through the online store at that time. I'm not sure if it's available at retail yet.
What you purchased was a phone without a contract commitment. It is still locked to AT&T. AT&T will NOT unlock iPhones for any reason. Return it and get your money back, then use that to purchase an unlocked phone.
