Rebuilding Corrupt Project problems

Hi, first timer and a little desperate.
I've been working on a doc in FCP HD 4.5, preparing to assemble seven subclips into a 60 minute version for export to Quicktime movie, NTSC DV. While I was working, the external hard drive was bumped by someone, knocking it over on the table where it sat. From that point, FCP started acting weird, giving a strange plaid/Tartan grid pattern in the Canvas window at certain points, and refusing to play for long before it froze up. Errors include "File I/O Error," dropped frames, and General Error (34) and (49). I also could not Export to Quicktime movie, as it kicked out after about 2 or 3%.
Since then, thanks to helpful posts here:
1. I've trashed and rebuilt preferences;
2. I've run Disk Utility and Disk Warrior on the external, rebuidling the directories and checking for physical damage;
3. I've cleared the RAM on startup;
4. I've adjusted the FCP preferences to the lowest video and audio quality for playback (my timelines are always clean and kept in no more than two video channels, btw);
5. And I have offlined the original Capture Scratch files and recaptured them. The program had trouble communicating with my old Canon GL-1 for some reason, reporting dropped timecode where there was none, so I had to Capture Now and then reconnected clips to the newly captured versions (if I can save the timeline, I'll have to do some tweaking, I know).
So far so good, but now I'm getting General Error (34) and (49) on startup occasionally; I'm getting kicked out of Export to Quicktime after about 5%; and occasionally I'm seeing that same grid pattern, though it mostly seems to be playing better in the timeline. It waits to freeze up, anyway.
Any ideas for software fixes? Reinstalling FCP, maybe some settings I'm missing? If it's a physical problem in the hard drive, I'll have to send it back, but I'm hoping for a software fix.

I found a backup of my project that opened and I finished my project, not as well as I wanted but I got it out.
I then closed down Premiere and went ahead with repair disk permissions as you suggested.
I went back and double clicked on my working version and found it to be corrupt now as well. Premiere will open; the panes and general layout look the same as I left it when I closed; there is file information in the project pane but no video on the source or project monitors. The time line is there. But if I so much as move the mouse the spinning beach ball appears. Finder shows Premiere unresponsive and I have to do a Force Quit. I'm not about to start opening older files to see if they work.
In my opinion it is not 8.0.1 but the original 2014 as this is where the problem originated. I still have the older version 7 but stupidly uninstalled the matching Media Encoder which I need to queue to. So I'm stuck trying to sort this mess. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Splitting clips problem. Corrupt project?

I have a 3 hour 15 minute project that I finished editing (down from 6+ hours of footage). Aside from iMovie starting to run quite slow by the time I was adding chapters and titles, everything went well. After 11 hours of exporting to Quicktime, I split the movie file in half and burned two DVDs. Everything looks good, except I noticed a section that I accidentally placed the sound off from the video. An easy fix for just that section, or so I thought.
Back in iMovie, I get the spinning color wheel everytime I move or click anywhere. But the real problem is that I no longer split clips ... at least not where I intend to. I stop the playhead where I want to split the clip, and instead of splitting it there, iMovie is splitting the clip anywhere from a half second to 3 seconds after the point I choose.
I'm guessing the project is corrupt since I can create a new project, drag in a clip and it splits just fine. And if I pull in clips from other events into the corrupt project, the splitting gets screwed up again.
I'm hoping there's a solution rather than having to create a new project. I used a lot of transitions, and I want to keep the timing exact so I can easily replace the affected portions of the movie file rather than waiting another 11 hours for everything to export.
And yes, I tried all the usual deleting of preferences, moving the project out of the movies folder, etc., etc. and it's still an issue.

If you are having difficulties splitting a clip as you describe, you may want to try placing the playhead where you want the split, control clicking the clip and select Split Clip from the shortcut menu. The process is similar to what is described for trimming a clip in this article -

Problems started with 'Corrupted Project' and has led to 'Unsupported Compression Type" for certain .mts files

Had to revisit several projects that were working this past January, but now several are reporting as being 'corrupted'. After trying all of the usual recommended remedies, and failing, I attempted what is always my 'last resort' - Trashing Preferences. Last resort because it has always in recent versions, led to other problems. This time was no exception. Now, not only did trashing them NOT solve my corrupt project issue, but it added a couple more. Now, MB Looks plugin can't be seen, which has happened nearly every time I've trashed preferences, and certain .mts files are showing as being the dreaded 'Unsupported compression type', while many in the same folder are working just fine. This almost always seems to be a license issue of some sort. I have signed out of CC, then signed back in to no avail. My short term memory is nearly gone, but I seem to recall a similar set of occurrences a few months ago, and a uninstall/re-install was required to bring everything back to normal. This is getting quite old, as am I.

Working with Adobe Support via chat at the moment. Their solution? - Contact Red Giant.

Premiere Pro 7.2.1 keeps crashing/corrupting projects

First problem is that PP CC ver 7,2,1 keeps crashing, giving error reports that the project is "damaged or contains outdated elements." It's ruined 2 projects in 2 days including the backup for one of them.
I've cleaned the caches; deleted the preferences, uninstalled using the Adobe uninstaller; reinstalled - no help.
Second problem is - how do I get a project fixed so that I can use it? It was nearly finished - then crashed. So after rebooting I switched to the backup & it crashed immediately & now won't open either.
Mac Book Pro I7; 2.3 Ghz; 16GB; NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M; lots of room on the hard drive; OS 10.9.1
One other note - I've been in a Chat for over 2 hours - looks like Adobe dropped the Chat while I was waiting to be switched to a tech support chat.

Thanks Mark - unfortunately this didn't work. I can import good projects via media browser, but the ones that were corrupted don't show any files in the media browser. I was 2/3rds through a project that's due tomorrow - hope there's a solution or I'll have a pretty unhappy client. (I also tried opening the corrupted projects in CS6; didn't work).

Rebuilding TopLink project

I just started working for a company that uses the TopLink workbench. I should also note that I am fairly new using TopLink but have a little experience with other O/R mapping tools.
The person that I replaced took it upon himself to modify the files that TopLink creates by hand. We can no longer use the workbench to do future edits, which is the problem Im trying to solve. I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to re-build the TopLink MWP file with out having to do the mappings again.
In other words, is there a way to reverse engineer (in a matter of speaking) the MWP file using the other files that I have?

If you have an old version of the MWP file and its associated XML files (for the descriptors, classes, and tables) [possibly in your SCM repository?], you could regenerate the deployment artifact (whether it's the Project source code or the deployment XML file), use something like BeyondCompare to see what was changed by hand, and make the necessary modifications via the Workbench. If you do not an old version of the MWP, you will need to rebuild the project manually, since there is no support for building an MWP from a deployment artifact. This is because the deployment artifacts hold only a subset of the design information contained in the MWP and related files.

Error in Rebuilding a Project in WebDynpro

I have installed the NetWeaver developer Studio, and WAS.
I developed a simple Webdynpro Application and i tested it once it was sucessfully executed.
But later when i tried to execute the same Application without making any changes it gives me an Error Message when ever i try to Rebuild the Project.
Error is :   The project was not built due to "Problems encountered while copying resources.". Fix the problem, then try refreshing this project and rebuilding it since it may be inconsistent. Welcome

If all of the above suggestions fail, I recommend you wipe away all the generated .java files from your file system and it should build correctly.
1. Stop dev studio
2. Go to
C:\ ....SAP\workspace\<Project Name>
There should be two or three directories that start with the prefix gen ( gen_ddic, gen_wdp and gen- only for DCs ).
Delete them all.
3. Retry. It should work now.

Photoshop file laid over a .mov from LiveType corrupts project files

I have an edited sequence in FCE 3.0 At the beginning in V1 is a 7 second .mov title created in LiveType: the usual thing - squiggling text appears over an animated background using the Texture > Liquid > Silver. In V2, and overlapping the .mov is a Photoshop file (.PSD). It has one layer which has an image occupying half of the layer which is otherwise transparent. (By "overlapping" I mean that when the Playhead is over the .mov it is also over the Photoshop file). The Photoshop file is shorter than the .mov and its right hand end is aligned with the right hand end of the .mov. The Sequence in the Timeline is of course rendered. The result is that the title appears and then the Photoshop image overlays it. Fine, it works.
However, if I save the Project file, quit FCE then relaunch it and load in the Project file, I get "Unable to Open Project File". Exactly the same occurs with another (different) Project file which also has a (different) LiveType title overlaid with a (different) single layer PSD file with a transparent background. I have no other Project files with a PSD overlay. The problem occurs only when I include the PSD file in V2, even without the .mov file.
The LiveType .mov and the PSD file was dragged from its Mac folder on to the Browser then dragged from the Browser to the Timeline. The PSD file appears in the Browser as a Sequence. I deleted FCE's Pref. files, uninstalled and re-installed FCE, Repaired Permissions, rebooted - no help. Other Project files are OK.
I have read www.fcpbook.com/Photoshop6.html Part 3 mentions the use of overlaid PSD files with transparency, and mentions creating a new Channel and converting to a PICT, but unlike the graphic in the site page, my Photoshop (version 7) does not offer the choice of a PICT - just PSD or RAW - so no help there.
It seems clear that the PSD file is the problem. Can't FCE handle them as overlays? Any ideas please on how to get the effect that I want?

Premiere CS6 corrupt project files / autosave files

Sorry for my English.
I close my project one evening and next day i could not open it as Premier say "An unknown error occurred while opening the project" & "importer raported generic error"
Just one file (from 5) auto saves works but is to outdated to use really:(
I`been trying :
- create new project and import corrupted project inside without success
- reset ppro settings ctr shift alt
- Import entire sequence -"importer raported generic error"
- Importing separate sequence - Dynamic link hangs/stop in 1/8 progress bar
- edit file in notepad ++ , where i can see ther is some error (see screens)
- saving in notepad++ as xml - no change
- xml wrench can only load file until first error
- also i been trying to open this cs6 project in cc ,no success. This same when I going around in CC and trying importing separate sequences via MediaBrowse ( sequences wont show up)

i found some tool for Mac "Project repair" but no success there.
also when i manually delete those weird signs & errors from ppro project in notepad++ ,save to new name file and then try to import each sequence separately progress bar go up to 80% then stuck in place ,this is much more compare to original which go only 10% and stop.
This new clean file opened and checked in XML Wrench give me few errors like that

Flash Builder doesn't rebuild the project everytime I modify the code

Flash Builder doesn't rebuild the project everytime I modify the code.
I find myself chasing ghosts when trying to debug my project. Flash Builder 4.0 doesn't rebuild my project after every change I make.
The "Project - Build Automatically" is of course selected. To make sure the problem is real I ran "Project - Build All" several times. Nothing helped.
For example, I am using a boolean constant to select different code in an if block. Even if I change the value of the boolean, When I debug the code, I see that the constant's value doesn't change. Only If I log out login again, FB will rebuild my code.
This happens too many times and it is very confusing to debug, when you don't know if the result now is with or without your changes.
It also affects the following:
- breakpoints that are set or disabled are not taken into account and the debugger will skip them even if they are set or stop on them if they are disabled.
- the debugger stops the debug on empty lines, if those lines previously contained code.
- When I comment out the declaration of variables. Eclipse doesn't recognize them and doesn't show any hint on them when you hold the CTRL key and hover over, but while in debug mode, when you hover over the variable instance, its shows a value for it.

The problem is with the SDK settings selected for the Compiler.
Try going to 'Project' > 'Properties' > 'ActionScript Compiler'.
Now, in the 'Flex SDK section', try changing the SDK. Click on 'Apply'.
This will force FB to rebuild all settings for the project.
You can try again. FB should now have started compiling with latest code changes again.
Please Note: This is not a permanent fix though!
In case the problem re-occurs, you'll need to again perform the steps mentioned above to get FB back on track.

Everytime need to add jxl.jar before rebuilding the project

Everytime I have to add jxl.jar in the workspace before rebuilding the project as its path is lost.
Is there any way out to resolve this problem??

If you want to add external jar files ...
and If your WD components are in DCs then you may simply solve the problem by creating External Library DCs and as usual, create a public part out of it and add to the dependencies of your WD DC.
Follow the following steps to create an External library and adding it to your dependent DC
     1)Go to File->New->Developmentcomponent
     2)In Window opened select Mycomponents and click Next
     3)In the Window opened Give Name(for example ExcelLib) for                                                external library    and select Type as External Library
     4)Click on Finish
The External Library created is visible in Navigator perspective but not in WebDynpro Explorer perspective
     5)In the folder libraries of the externallibrary(ExcelLib) you paste the jar file (jxl.jar).
     6)Right Click on the jarfile that you have added in the libraries folder of the External Library ,go to Developcomponent -
>add to public part
7)In the widow opened give the some name for puplic part and say ok
8)Now Right click on the ExternaleLibrary ,Goto DevelopmentComponent --->build
After build is completed this External Library Dc can be used by other DC As
Used WebDynpro Components ..where the jar file features ca be accessed

Do you have to rebuild a project after you upgrade?

I have a rather large DL iDVD 6 project that I burn about 20 discs at a time. I usually let it encode overnight and make the copies the next day.
I recently updated to version 6.0.2 and now get the beach ball when I go to burn. I repaired disk permissions and trashed the prefereences and now get the beach ball when i try to open up the project.
Do I need to rebuild the project from scratch because I updated? Is this a standard thing or just a fix for a hiccup?
As a note I have 2 gigs of RAM and about 14 gigs of free HD space

You can create a disk image and avoid the re-encoding. Then use Toast to create a DL DVD. Don't think Disk Utility can do that...
As far as your problem. Follow Mike's suggestion regarding the themes. Or you might try re-installing iDVD 6 and updating to 6.0.2. Follow these directions:

IN MY IMPLEMENTATION OF A VIEW AFTER IMPORTING ALL THE NECESSARY IMPORT FILE AND WHEN I GO TO REBUILD THE PROJECT IT REMOVES ALL THE IMPORT FILES AND ENDS UP WITH AN ERROR.
THE THINGS WERE RUNNING FINE BUT AFTER SWITCHING ON OF DEBUGGING MODE THISKIND OF ERROR HAS OCCURED.

Try to repair your project and then try again.
Also check the java class path for those classes for which import statements are removed.
You can chack java class path in the property of the webdynpro project. and there choose "Java build path".
Also give me the excat error.

Devenv always rebuilds my project, because a typescript file is newer than a pdb file

I have a project with typescripts. devenv constantly rebuilding this project. Diagnostics output contains this line:
Project 'Benefits' is not up to date. Input file 'C:\abc\UI\BenefitsWeb\Scripts\Benefits\Modules\PPACA\ApprovalScreen.ts' is modified after output file 'C:\abc\UI\BenefitsWeb\bin\Dayforce.Web.Benefits.pdb'.
So, how do I resolve this issue? The aforementioned typescript file is truly newer than the PDB. But the PDB is not the output of the typescript compilation !!!
Here is how I compile my typescript files:

The project specifies the typescript files in the `TypeScriptCompile` item group, for instance:

Of course, @(OutputJavaScripts) lists the expected .js files only. No PDB files there.
So how come devenv matches a typescript file with a PDB file? How do I fix it?
I would like to clarify. It does not actually recompile the typescript or C# files (well for the first time it does recompile the typescript files, but only that). It starts the build, because typescript is newer than a PDB, but then it recognizes that no PDB
dependency has actually changed. The same is true for the javascript files - they are all up-to-date. So nothing is actually rebuilt, but why to enter the build sequence in the first place!

Have all project types the issue? If it is, try resetting VS to the default settings with the following commands to see if it helps.

Corrupt Project File?!?! Please Help!!!

So this has not been a good week. I have been working on this project in FCP 6 for the last few months. The project was finished so I used media manager to consolidate all the files as well as delete all non used media. I then moved my project files (from FCP, Motion, STP, DVD SP, Color, & Logic) to the drive as well. (this is how I store finished project for clients.) well, the client wanted one minor change made which was just as well because I didn't like 1 transition that I missed as was going to change anyways. So I connect the drive (external LaCie Bigger Disk Extreme Triple Interface) to my FW800 port. Mount it, locate the most recent project file and drag it to my desktop. It copies, very very very slowly - 4MB proj. file 3 min transfer. when it finished the drives unmounts and wont remount. spent 1/2 a day on the phone with Tech support with apple & disk warrior. we deturmined the drive is not only dead due to a hardware failure but it managed to wipe all the info completely off the disk as well. I will survive I figured I could always recapture the footage because I still had that 1 project file. I went to open it, FCP launches, and then...
FCP can not read project file. thats it. no number, not error code, no explination. So does anyone know if there is any way to rebuild a project file, open in imovie, or FCP express or something that would allow me to do anything with this project file or do I have do redo months of work in a weekend and I am just SOL?

So I have been in the process of re-importing all day today. Still not solution and anything would be more helpful than nothing... even if i am just SOL. I am importing through a HDV deck via FW into ProRes 422. I tried ProRes 422 HQ but it crashed FCP after only 2 minutes of importing. is there that big of a difference or am I fine going from HDV to ProRes instead of ProRes HQ. Thanks

Lightroom Corrupt Catalog problems- Help!

Lightroom Corrupt Catalog problems reading/writing from disk when attempting to repair - Help! I have my LR box in hand and my product keys and license info but can't find the disk. I'm assuming this is the only way to repair. Suggestions, Comments are welcome and appreciated.

Corrupt catalog will not be fixed by re-installing the Lightroom software (although if I were you, I'd still find that disk!)
If I were you, I would first check a recent backup of your catalog file, and see if that will open (double-click on it in your operating system). If that opens properly, I would just use that file.
If it doesn't open properly, then one trick that sometimes works is to open a blank catalog in Lightroom, then File->Import from Another Catalog and point to the catalog file.
