Reccomendations for x800xt radeon card wthe dual link and DVI?

I was very unarmed when I posted my last question. I know know that the radeon x800xt MAC Edition is a dual link DVI and has one Apple DVC. I guess I can go two ways with this:
1. I can get an ADC to DVI converter and run another monitor
2. or I can get a DVi splitter and run two monitors
Apple's help desk doesn't support x800xt, so I called a local apple store for advice. It was recommended that I do not split the DVI into two monitors.
Through my reserch I have been getting conflicting info:
Can I get away with a dual DVI or should I go with the ADC to DVI adapter.
I hope this makes more sense. If anyone has run two monitors off of a single DVI let me know the success rate.
Thanks.

2. or I can get a DVi splitter and run two monitors
A DVI splitter will put the same picture on two monitors (which should have the same resolution).

  • DVI-D Dual link and DVI-D Single link

I have here a FPD2185W Gateway 21" monitor that will not connect to my mac via the MBP's DVI port. I sent in the Mac for repair and it was sent back saying "everything is A-OK". Now my question is, are the cables that i am using effecting the functionality because i know the monitor works on a PC via DVI, but not the mac. The Cable im using now is a DVI-D Dual Link cable. would it be wise to try the Single link cable? I am pretty sure i have tried everything, and am desperate to get a DVI signal going to my monitor instead of the VGA.
    -thanks, grant

Do a Google search on "FPD2185W Mac" and you'll see quite a few problem reports. It seems like the Gateway display is the problem and just won't work properly with some Macs.

  • 2x ATI cards, 2x dual-link monitors. How to make it work?

As per the subject, I have 2 ATI cards, they both seem to be detected/initialised by the kernel OK on bootup and are listed in lspci. I need two cards as I want to power two large displays which require dual-link dvi connections.
I can see from the X.org log that X only detects one of the cards, even if I specify two device sections with the relevant busID of each card in the xorg.conf. X just seems to complete ignore it. I'm using the open source radeon driver with an up-to-date arch system.  This has been driving me crazy for a couple of weeks now, to the point where I'm considering getting another PC to use to power the second screen!!
    LSPCI section:

I think the key to this is getting X to load the driver for the second graphics card, then I can configure it with xrandr - but I haven't got a clue how to do this... I'm guessing it's possible though??
    Thanks for any help!!

You are going to need the t-shaped external aerial otherwise this is not going to work. Even though your PowerMac did not come with an Airport Extreme Card built in, it would have been supplied with the aerial.
You will need to find a replacement.

I am presuming that your Netgear is not wireless.
Can you connect the Airport Express to the router are do you want it in a different room?
You will be able to be connected to the router and AX at the same time, but in order to avoid internet and network issues, you should ensure that built-in-ethernet is above Airport in the network configurations.

  • Need Help with power supply reccomendations for my graphics card

    hi
i have a MSI GeForce GTX 780 Graphics card... i built my own system, i also got a rosewill rx750 power supply in it which i think is causing me problems, the computer works great until i get into games like titan fall and try and get into a game then it restarts the computer on its own.. has done this with a few games, but it works fine when surfing the net and so forth, i have read its to do with the power supply being week and also read my chosen power supply isnt that good... anyone got any recommendations for me that i should look at or am i looking in the wrong direction with whats wrong with my pc... any help would be great thanks

yes the PSU is  the most important choice out there and corsair and seasonic are the best out there! (never buy cheap PSU's as like abvolt said a cheap one can easily kill your more expensive parts)
Cheap PSU = made of the most cheap parts they could get "think cheap shanghai parts are used that may be of any quality good or awful as its just what they could get for the lowest price" (ever bought anything that was super cheap they break very easily)
Quality PSU = the use of good quality well made parts and will have very good testing done on them to make sure they are stable and pass very tight regulations and conform to specs for 10-30 different factors each.
a cheap low quality PSU I class as a paper weight as it will never go near a computer (maybe i would use one as a basic bench PSU for things i do not care if they die or just for testing a fan or something that rubbish dirty power is not really a major problem but silicon is not tolerant to dirty power and will kill parts)

  • Streamlining the code for the button group with individual links and rollover imgs

I am looking for a solution to streamline the code for the array of 20+  buttons located inside the scroll pane.
I know I can make an array if all the buttons would have a unified code executable change, i.e. they would become larger and brighter.
My problem is that each button represents an product image in the lights off stage, then of rollover it is a lights on stage so I have to import two images in the on and off stage and play around with the opacity.
Additional problem is that each button has to ling to a different label.
My question is: is it possible to unify the code if buttons have that much individuality or I have to make each one of them as in the example below.
// makes a hand cursor appear over a mc acting as a button for all the buttons inside the scrollpnaeBckgrnd_mc.scrollpaneBckgrnd_btns_mc.

  • Need videocard that supports dual monitors and Rotation -for PowerMac G5

I'm looking for a videocard that supports dual monitors and Rotation for PowerMac G5. I've got two Dell 2407WFP monitors rotated to 90 -I've been running an ATI Radeon X1900 256 pcie16 but apparently it is over heating -not even exactly sure if that indeed is the case but all the symptoms I've looked up online point to this problem. Anyways -just looking for a card that will do the job -I don't run games -this is just for work machine doing photoshop and related programs. Thanks for any help anyone may have!

    Hi-
A flashed card is a WinPC card that has been modified to accept a Mac ROM to provide for Mac compatibility.
Occasionally, soldering and other physical modifications are required.
Without this modification, a WinPC graphics card cannot be used in a MAc.
Without this modification, Mac users are limited to only a handful of used, OEM options.
The Geforce 7800 GS is the only 7800 card that may be used in a G5 (or G4).
The card must have been or be converted to Mac compatibility.
For dual monitors (DVI) the best performance choices are the Geforce 6800 Ultra (flashed or OEM), a rare, but occasionally available Geforce 6800 GT (flashed), an OEM Radeon X800XT (use ADC/DVI adapter on ADC port) a rare and expensive Radeon FireGL X800 (flashed).
These are the only performance oriented cards to offer dual digital display support.
For less demanding graphics work, an OEM Radeon 9650 offers dual digital output.
Other OEM graphics cards will have either DVI/DVI or ADC/DVI.
All OEM graphics cards are only available as used.
All cards are easiest to obtain on eBay.
Prices vary, but deals can be found.
Expect to pay $150-$325 for any of the cards listed.
Any card considered MUST be stated as Mac compatible, unless you are willing to research and learn how to perform the necessary modifications.

  • Best way to connect T430 to Dual Link DVI 2560x1440 Catleap monitors?

I have a T430 and I am looking to get one of those cheap $300 27" Korean 2560x1440 IPS/PLS monitors, but the problem is all of the cheap models only take dual link DVI, while the new T430 notebooks only output via displayport.
I was thinking the best solution for this would be to buy a Lenovo dock that natively outputs dual link DVI (DP to dual link DVI adapters do not allow for refresh rate overclocking). Though on the Lenovo website they don't specify whether their docks output single or dual link, and I am not sure if the signal conversion is done "natively" or via some custom chip in the docks which might prevent refresh rate overclocking.  Do you guys know of any T430 docks that are definitely equiped with native dual link DVI? If the docks are only single link DVI or do not allow overclocking then that leaves either buying a $70 adapter and forgoing the overclocking or buying a significantly more expensive monitor with displayport input (and more input lag).
What have your experiences with connecting your T430 to one of these monitors been like? And what do you think would be the best solution at the moment?

The dock dvi is single link dvi-d, if you wish to use dual link dvi-d connection, then you should consider the Apple laptop's active miniDP to Dual Link DVI-D converter.

  • MSI 76.45 driver update for 6 series cards?

After checking the MSI site for updated drivers, it looks like the 7645's are the latest for the 6 series cards. Yet, in the readme file under compatible cards for this driver version, there are no 6 series cards listed. What's up with that?
I was just wondering if MSI has something wrong here. Is this, in fact, the latest driver for the 6600GT??
(My apologies if this subject was already covered)

    Clark,
Just go to nVidia for your nVidia Drivers
Depending on who wrote the readme file, you're right, there could be something wrong, and it's just a readme. Nvidia usually claims all drivers are backwards compatable, however, as you may know, nVidia's drivers correspond with the genre of card currently on the market, ie GF4=4X.XX GF5 (FX)=5X.XX GF6=6X.XX and so on, so nVidia currently focuses on optimizations for the current card on the market and sometimes support suffers for older cards. Having said ALL that, more times than I care to count, MSI seems behind the times, this is the norm, as documentation and consistency is not a strong point on any the website, hence my recommendation to go directly to nVidia. If it is the latest and greatest from MSI that you want becasue of the DOT feature, then I believe that is the latest from MSI.
Now I'm wondering how you are looking for drivers. Are you looking for drivers via the MSI Live Update Utility, or on the Taiwan website? In any case whatever is there from MSI is there. It you want the latest and greatest then you can take your chances and start expirimenting with the latest from nVidia ftp://download.nvidia.com/windows The whole shebang is there for your convenience.
Finally, if everything is working fine, then there should be no reason to update. Recomendations to keep your system loaded with all the latest drivers is not always the best advice...
    Does that help?

  • Getting the GPU temp on a Radeon Card, and is a Radeon X850 PRO 256MB PC card flashable for use in Mac G5?

I decided to post this as a new topic since it really didn't belong on the tail end of my X800 XT thread of woe...
Is there any program that can get the GPU temp of a Radeon video card on a Mac?  I have done quite a bit of looking online and have come up with nothing. Strange, since this is usually a concern for all computer owners..  I don't even care if it's unstable, beta, hack city.
The second part of this question is:  I have a PC AGP video card "Radeon X850 PRO 256MB", and I wanted to know if it is flashable to use in a Powermac G5.
The card looks a lot like the X800 XT, except for the chip on the underside of the card that says "ATI Rage Theater" on it.
Here is a link to a pic of the underside of the card that I found on PhotoBucket:
    http://media.photobucket.com/image/recent/dualamdmp/DSCF6296.jpg
    Here is the top side:
    http://s1238.photobucket.com/albums/ff489/dualamdmp/?action=view&current=DSCF629 2.jpg
In case my efforts completely strike out getting a video card with an ADC port (basically the X800 XT or X850 XT), I am starting to look for a reasonably priced DVI to ADC converter.
    Thanks!

Is there any program that can get the GPU temp of a Radeon video card on a Mac?
    No.
Radeon X850 PRO 256MB...I wanted to know if it is flashable to use in a Powermac G5.
Possibly. BUT, it won't output digital, which is what you need to use a DVI to ADC adapter.
All flashed Radeon X800/X850 will only output analog.
A flashed FireGL X3 , using a Mac Radeon X800XT ROM will output both ports digital, and one of those is also dual link DVI (in case one wants a 30" Cinema Display).
That's the only flashed X800 that outputs digital.
If you're going the adapter route, consider an OEM or a flashed Geforce 6800 GT or Ultra.
The Ultra actually out performs the X800XT in some areas, with the GT not far behind.
A flashed Geforce 6800 GT can be a real performance value, often times a bargain.

  • Dual monitor connection for ATI Radeon 4350

I have HP Pavilion Elite e9300z PC with 512MB ATI Radeon HD 4350 [DVI, HDMI, VGA adaptor]... I want to connect a 2nd monitor to video card. I think my current monitor is HDMI, so for the other (DVI) is it dual-link? In other words, should I get a dual-link DVI cable or a regular DVI-D cable? Thanks.

Regular DVI-D cable shoould work, your monitor must have a DVI-D and not a DVI-I port...

    Hi there!
So you got a dual core machine huh?
    Let's narrow down your choices.
The Radeon 2600 and the 3870 are Mac Pro cards. They won't work in the G5.
    Forget the X1300 as well.
The Radeon X1900 is a possible candidate, but it must be the G5 Edition X1900 GT. The one that you linked is for Intel macs (Mac Pro).
In fact, all cards that you linked are not candidates for the G5.
Here are your choices from slower to faster:
    Geforce 6600 256MB
    Geforce 7800GT
    Radeon X1900GT G5 Edition
    Quadro FX 4500
    Geforce 7800 GTX

  • Best graphics card for power mac g4 500 dual

I recently acquired a power mac g4 500 dual core processor, and i'm looking for an upgrade for the graphics card. I've been doing some research, and I've had a hard time finding the best upgrade. I'm not looking to really play any games or do anything graphics intensive, I just want all the basic tasks to be quicker. I'm looking for something that supports Quartz extreme, and possibly core image. Thanks.

    Hi-
Leopard needs Core Image. The best card is the Radeon 9800 Pro Mac edition.

  • ADS Tech Dual Link Firewire/USB 2 PC card

    Hi all
I purchased a ADS Tech Dual Link Firewire/USB 2 (DLX-181) PC card a couple of years ago and it worked fine under early versions of Panther. Lately when I've tried to use it, I get a kernal Panic the instant I plug it in. I'm using Tiger's drivers for it, not the driver that came with it (it was USB 2 drivers for Jaguar).
is the card no good? is there a way to reset the card bus? or to run any kind of diagonistic?
ADS tech support has been no help whatsoever.

tried the card in another powerbook and it kernal panicked immediately. the card is toast.
