Receipts for free apps

Is there any way to get iTunes to stop emailing me receipts for free applications that I've downloaded through the app store? It's not like I'll need a refund!

Nope but you can make a special mailbox so that all iTunes store receipts are placed inside of it. That is what I do.

I use to receive an email with a receipt when I downloaded an app for free on the App Store for my iPhone. Even if it can be funny at first, I find it interesting to have those receipts. Any information as to why ? Do you continue to receive them ?

Been quite a while since I got any email receipts for fee apps. A better question is why the were ever sent in the first place...

You can create a new Apple ID without using a credit card for download free apps by following this guide: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2534. Follow it exactly as writtien. Note that you have to download and try to install a free app and then create the ID.

Why does the app store try to charge me for free apps?

You most likely do not have a valid form of payment entered in your Apple ID. The valid form of payment is required to download free apps or purchase apps. If the app is free you will not be charged. You can enter a credit card as a valid form of payment. If you don't want to use a credit card or don't have one, you can purchase an iTunes gift card and use that as your valid form of payment.

With a standard account you need a valid payment method even for free apps.
From the message it sound like there is something wrong with your account or some of the information you entered in the account is not correct.. Verify that the information is correct and then if still problem contact iTunes.

Hello,
I'm Ashok using iPhone 5S from India. I have updated to iOS8 recently. Today I'm trying to download a FREE Manchester United FC (official) but my phone is directing me to payment page and asking for Credit card Information. To test this I have given a wrong Verification number, I got a message from my bank that purchase of Rs 60 declined ! I wonder why this amount processed for free app? It's a free app! Is this is an issue in iOS 8 or another problem ?

Tap Settings > General > International. Make sure the Region Format is correct.
As for your Apple ID. Tap Settings > Store > Apple ID > iForgot
Resetting your Apple ID may help.

If you mean the temporary store holding charge, as described on the page that you posted from, then that is only temporary, it should disappear off your account within a few days or so.
That 'charge' is made each time that you change your card details to check that the card details are correct and valid and that it's registered to exactly the same name and address as on your iTunes account.
If you mean a 'proper' charge, and it appears on your purchase history and on your credit card, then try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work then you can try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

There are no charges for free apps. There are often authorized holds verifying an account which are not completed and fall of without actually charging you.

If you've just setup your account, you're not actually being charged. This is a hold to insure your account details are valid, & will be reversed in a day or two.
