Receive at IMessage error

Please help, under my setting then "messages" where it says "Receive at" my cell number is grayed and says "error" in front of it. The end result is that since it gives me an error on my cell number it defaulting to my secondary listing, which is my email address. And this is leading to missed texts.
Any suggestion? Thank you in advance.

Have you tried turning iMessage off, then back on to see if it will activate your number this time?

Why do you want to use Beta software? Especially since you are having this problem with it?
Uninstall it and forget about it until it is released as a real piece of software.

You did not mention what the error was but since you are running 8.1.2 and update is available and my help.

My iPod touch is not recognized by Windows 7 and will not appear on My Computer as a storage device after OS 5.1.1 upgrade and received an 1602 error. My iPod is now having a connect to iTune screen.

Receive an Application Error (The memory could not be "read") when opening

After I install Itunes the program works ok until I close it and try to reopen. When I do this I receive an Application Error that says:
The instruction at "0x6686f183" referenced memory at "0x0fccc094". The memory could not be "read".
Click OK to terminate the program
Click CANCEL to debug the program
Debugging does not work so the only solution is to uninstall Itunes and then reinstall. That again only works for one use of the program. As soon as I close it and re-open, I get the same error. Please HELP. I cannot waste any more time uninstalling and reinstalling.

Do not delete the old account yet. sign up for an iCloud account if you haven't.

You cannot use .mac or MobileMe as type of Account, you have to choose IMAP when setting up, otherwise Mail is hard coded to change imap.mail.me.com to mail.me.com & smtp.mail.me.com to smtp.me.com, no matter what you try to enter.
iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...
On second step where it asks "Description", it has to be a unique name, but you can still use your email address.
IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
          •          Server name: imap.mail.me.com
          •          SSL Required: Yes
          •          Port: 993
          •          Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
          •          Password: Your iCloud password
SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
          •          Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
          •          SSL Required: Yes
          •          Port: 587
          •          SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
          •          Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
          •          Password: Your iCloud password
Also, you must upgrade your password to meet the new criteria: 8 characters, including upper and lower case and numbers. If you have an older password that does not meet these criteria, when you try to setup mail on your mac, using all of the IMAP criteria listed above, it will still give a server error message. Go to   http://appleid.apple.com         then follow directions to change your password, then go back to setting up your mail using the IMAP instructions above.

To create a PDF document, go to the source application then print the document to .pdf" I am going to the source application and printing the document to .pdf yet it's saving the file as a .log file. After reinstalling the software, I initially didn't encounter this problem but on my second and third attempts to convert files to .pdf format, this error message reappeared. It's because you are both using the same iTunes Library on your computer and you are both using the same Apple ID on each phone.
One of you must start a new computer user account and get a new Apple ID. Then start operating on the ocmputer from the new account. He/she will also need to restore their phone from the new account and using the new Apple ID. This way everything on each of your phones will remain separate.

One of you needs to use a separate Apple ID for iCloud, FaceTime & iMessage.
The Apple ID needs to be a verified email address. Once you have an email address, that can be verified, go here & create the ID:

Then on one of the phones, turn off Contacts, Calendars, etc. for iCloud. You'll be prompted to keep the data or delete it from the phone, then turn off iMessage, FaceTime & delete the iCloud account...Settings>iCloud...scroll down...delete account. Then, setup iCloud using the new Apple ID, turn on iMessage & Facetime.
This will have no affect on the ID you both share for iTunes content, & you can continue to do so.

Every time an update happens or we change phones my ex's iPhone and mine get linked somehow and he receives my messages. Once our information was appearing under each other's iMessages so we went to the apple store and called the phone service and they said it was fixed, but it happened again. Their information is no longer under my iMessage; however, they are receiving my iMessages with every update and I am not able to know if my information is showing under theirs. Short term solution, do this on both devices
Settings > iCloud > Shut off anything you don't want shared
Long term solution (actual solution)
You need seperate Apple IDs for iCloud. iTunes and iCloud are not the same.
Create a new Apple ID > https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/
On one of the devices go Settings > iCloud > Delete Account > Sign in with the new Apple ID
This will seperate your Contacts, Calendars, Messages etc.
You both can continue to use the same Apple ID for iTunes and share apps and music

Yeah but when Iphone users who send me messages send them in iMessage, it never gets switched to SMS!

Repair iTunes Security Permissions
Right-click on your main iTunes folder and click Properties, then go to the Securitytab and click Advanced. Use the Change Permissions... button grant to your account (or the Users group) and SYSTEM full control of this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to Replace permissions entries... which will repair permissions throughout the library. When complete switch to the General tab, click in the Read-only check box to clear it, then click Apply.
If you don't have the option to change the permissions then use the Owner tab and Edit... button to take ownership from an account with administrator privileges. Tick the option to Replace owner on subcontainers and objects.
Repeat with the media folder if it isn't stored inside the main iTunes folder.
If you've brought over the library from another computer you may also want to remove any "mystery" identities (S<string of dashes & digts>) that have come over from the old computer...

If you do not have a local copy of a song which you have purchased (i.e. it is available via iTunes in the Cloud), you may need to redownload it before you can transfer it to your device. You may find the following article helpful:
