Receive message "Mozilla Firefox Server Not Found"
Have been using Firefox Mozilla for a number of months. No issues. Last two weeks when going to a favorite web page (like e-bay.com, my-yahoo, Cabelas etc.) blank screen appears with the message Mozilla Firefox Server Not Found, with a try again prompt. Sometimes selecting try again will immediately connect, sometimes four or five times are required to get to the web page. We are not computer experts and the Mozilla help pages do not make sense. Sure hope you can help so we can stay with Mozilla.
Thank you..Valita
You may have add-ons causing that issues. Please start firefox in [[Safe Mode]] and see if helps. If it does help then an add-on is causing the issue and you should disable your add-ons one by one to figure out which is causing the issue.

This freezes everything including my e-mail, or slows it down
greatly. I also get this message with Internet Explorer. I have
Verizon FIOS as my Internet connection.I just posted a similar problem below. You pointed me to the problem - thanks. My 'wrong browser version' was being caused by an old version number being left in the 'general.useragent.override' field. It would seem that this old version number would be deleted upon an upgrade, but the old version number is simply left in there. I changed the field from:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-GB; rv:1.8.1.20) Gecko/20081217 Firefox/2.0.0.18
to:

Only happens with the email program
Hello,
Sometimes antivirus extensions cause browsing issues in Firefox. Try disabling McAfee while on your email program to see if it still crashes.
If after disabling McAfee the site still crashes, enable that plugin again if you wish. Please follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs to help us learn more about your crash.
#Enter ''about:crashes'' in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A Submitted Crash Reports list will appear, similar to the one shown below.
#Copy the '''5''' most recent Report IDs that start with '''bp-''' and then go back to your forum question and paste that into the "Post a Reply" box. (Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the ID's. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like)

When I try to access any web page or any link from a web page, I receive an error message such as "Server not found" or "Unable to connect." After repeated "try again" attempts that the page will load, but as soon as I click on a button or link, the same thing repeats. Any suggestions?

''''''When I click on my gmail to get a wall post I get this message ...Server not found Firefox can't find the server at permalink.php. PLEASE HELP ME FIX THIS! I just updated to firefox 6.0. THANK YOU
Try resetting your proxy server. Go to Tools, Options, Advanced, Settings and select one. I must do this every time I restart Firefox -- but at least after that, I'm okay until the next restart.

after updating firefox server not found message comes up. i tried all the suggestions in the troubleshooting section for this error in addition i reinstalled firefox completely. internet explorer is still working
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Server not found when trying to access our credit union.
Our credit union address is part of our bookmarks. About half the time we get an error message that says "Server not found".
It says to check the address for typos, check the network connection or make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the web.Hi sws23, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Open System Preferences>Network>Configure>Proxies Tab, make sure none are set, like for HTTPS. -

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Firefox (3.6.10) opens websites when hard wired to router, but when using wireless I get message: SERVER NOT FOUND FIREFOX CAN'T FIND THE SERVER AT SEARCH.AVG.COM. My homepage is http://www.google.com/firefox?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official. My anti-virus is AVG free 8.5.448. What can cause this?
If Work Offline is checked in Firefox File, I can get to Google search site. When I un-check it I still get the Server Not Found messageDid you check the connection settings?

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.

The error message is: Server not found
Firefox can't find the server at co108w.col108.mail.live.com.
If I then hit "Home" it goes to the home page. Changing the home page hasn't helped. Resetting Firefox hasn't helped. This just started today. Restarting the computer didn't help.
I'm using Firefox 18.0.2 and Windows 7.
Thanks.Check for malware
Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
* [http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/default.aspx Microsoft Safety Scanner]
* [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/ MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware]
* [http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208283363 TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit Utility]
[http://windows.microsoft.com/MSE Microsoft Security Essentials] is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
Further information can be found in the [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]] article.

System is Windows VISTA. While on Verizon/Yahoo mail Firefox will lose the connection and shoe a "server not found" message. Explorer will connect with no problem to the email server. The problem self corrects with in 5 or 10 minutes but this may happen 5 or 6 time in a day.
Is this a Firefox problem with proxy access. Settings appear to be the same.i forgot to mention , that when i striped this machine back down to 10.3.7 and before i re built i did do a hardware check with the original install Disks [3] and every thing came back clean.
the weird ness with the colors on window, if i pass a app like text edit over the area , the color will not cover the app but stay in the background.
when i first saw this color thing i had the preference pane out and was moving it around on screen and the colors were bleeding off of the preference pane onto the screen.
if you have any idea as to what is going on here let me know.
thank you
