Receive oracle errors 12560 and/or 12545 under windows xp ...

last monday, 9.10.06, some changes inside the active directory where done by our AD/admin. since then the logon fails to one spec. application, called tocom, written in sql/windows of co. gupta, only from windows xp clients. windows2k clients still can logon. nothing has changed on the database server. either the xp client receives an ora-12560 error, if the client uses the ip/address of file tnsnames.ora, or an ora-12545 error, if using the host/name entry there. but tnsping or using sqlplus from any xp clients works fine with the same database, as well the logon of an other application, written as well in sql/windows, to another database/server. so only the logon via application tocom fails from xp clients since then with the named errors. any idea? thanks, bye, he.

with the host name TOCOM_VS and with the ip/address. both fail since monday 9.10.06 but only for xp clients. logon on entry Host=TOCOM_VS fails with error 12545, logon to entry Host=141.11.61.1 fails with error 12560. but on the same client both tnsping and sqlplus can work fine with the same database. have created 2 logfiles of utility filemon.exe of co. sysinternals, spooling any file-call of the logon ot failing application tocom. this shows that the xp client calls a file dnsapi.dll, which the 2k client does not. from then on both logs differ and the xp log soon runs into the errror. any more ideas, please ? thanks, bye, he.

Oracle Error Code and Message for Query Timeout

I need to catch the oracle error code and message for query timeout.
I am using Oracle 9i and could not find any relevant error code/message
for query timeout in Oracle Error Messages.
If anyone has encountered such error messages, please let me know the

Fly is correct in that Oracle will normally let a query run forever in the absense of a user profile or dbms_resource setting that limits a users (query) resouce usage.
The errors returned for these condition would probably vary but errors ORA-02092 "exceeded session limit on CPU usage, you are being logged off" and ORA-02093 "exceeded call limit on CPU usage" might be of interest.
But for distributed queries Oracle does impose a time limit. See Oracle error ORA-02049 "timeout: distributed transaction waiting for lock"

Oracle error 1002 and 3114

my program is running smooth all the while, out of sudden it hit ora-1002 error subsequently hit ora-3114.
as i know the 1002 is cursor out of sequence, and 3114 is oracle not connect... what is the possible to link up this 2 error together?

Is there a distinct list of oracle error code with description(in excel or txt,csv format) , the requirement is to convert most of generic oracle messages into user defined messages and store it in a XML.

Sounds like you are trying to re-invent the wheel.
What's wrong with the message text as supplied by oracle? Those messages are universally known and understood -- well, at least by people who actually read them vs. simply dumping them to a forum. Why would you want to obfuscate them with your own text?
As for "cause and action", if one has the error code emitted by oracle, there are boat load of web sites that already replicate the same information that oracle itself supplies:

Stop receiving Oracle error

I am running a page process.The process is working correctly except that I don't want to show the oracle error message, all I want it to display is what I am putting in the failed part of the condition. Is there anyway to do this? Example I'm calling a function that is not returning to me any data. I want to display just the message 'INVALID' and not the Oracle message on bottom of that, it says function returned with out data.

Every time I try to download itunes to my computer I receive an "error code 2721". I checked windows and they think it's itunes. How do I fix this?

I have windows 7 and have tried uninstalling and reinstaling itunes, trying to fix errors with my "Bonjur" service for itunes, and checked with windows to see if the error code 2721 came from a windows error but they say it's an issue with itunes. I'm not sure what else to try.

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.

Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

hi im currently developing a JAVA app that accesses the data from an Oracle databse, these apps all running on windows clients. Im wondering the best way to access the database? is the JDBC the only way to do this.. thanks in advance

Yes, you can download a JDBC driver from Oracle. I think this site might do it:

I'm assuming that you're using the JDBC-ODBC bridge driver now to get into Access. You'll just have to change the name of the JDBC driver class and the database URL to connect to Oracle.
Once you have it, you'll have to make sure you put it in the right place for your app. If it's a Web-based app, it'll depend on the container you're running.

which is a 64-bit installer for the 32-bit version of the core application, similar to previous 64-bit releases.

Connect the HDD to your MBP. Open Disk Utility>Erase and drag the HDD icon inrt the Name field. The format should be Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Click on the Erase button.
Then try the clone process again. You may use Disk Utility>Restore or a third party cloning application such as Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper.

I am receiving an error message and PSE won't open

Hi. I've been using this laptop (Windows Vista) and PSE7 since the beginning of this year.
Last night, when I went to open up PSE, I got this message:
Adobe Photoshop Elements(Editor) Has Stopped Working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.'
But, it doesn't give me a solution.
I rebooted. Then I shut down and turned off the computer over night.
PSE is still not working.
Any suggestions?
What do I need to do to get it going?
