Received an IPAD from a deceased relative
Greetings,
Recently, I had a relative pass away and subsequently obtained her IPAD. In my attempts to restore the device in order to use as my own, my relatives information continues to show up for example, Imessages, Icloud, Itunes sign in, etc. How can I remove this information and sign on requests in order to start this device over as a new product for me?
You need to restore the device. If during the restore, it is calling for the relative's Apple ID and password to activate the phone, that is Activation Lock, and you will need to bring the device with an original receipt, if available, and a copy of the death certificate to a physical Apple Store and they should be able to help you.

I have heard that in the case of a death, if you can prove that the original owner is deceased and that you are a legitimate heir, Apple may be able to help you. We, here, can do nothing for you. Contact Apple--you will find contact infromation at bottom right of this page.

You can't. Your mysterious benefactor must remove the device from her (I guess you know it's a her?) iCloud account by logging into icloud.com, going to Find my iPhone and removing from there.

My mom recently passed away and I now have her Ipad. When I log into Itunes, it keeps coming up with her Itunes ID and wont let me change it to mine. does anyone know how to get it to change?
Connect to iTunes then revert back to default settings where it says if you have a problem. Finally, start it as a new user or new iPad and install from there. If you have a previous iPad you could use the back up from it and restore using that one. If all else fails, go to settings and delete everything to factory settings then connect to iTunes as a newvuser and register as yourself and it will work that way.

I have spent hours on the phone with Apple and AT&T. I went thought reset, on/off, etc, etc with both companies to no avail. Each company pointed fingers at the other....as being the source of the problem.
Problems: Suddenly ALL incoming calls were going directly to VM with no signal I missed calls and/or had VM. I was also unable to receive all Text Messages...Oddly, I could send text messages to anyone (even non-apple users but I could not receive their responses)........then I when I got home I started receiving text messages from other apples users ONLY. I assume now - iMessage kicked in and I could text (send/receive) other iPhone/iPad/iTouch users ONLY. ....yes, I could still (send) text messages to my husband's blackberry (he received my messages fine) but my phone would NOT receive his text respones.
Finally, I googled the problem and found this community where other people have had the exact same problems! One person said he "turned off 3 G" which was the solution for him....so I did the same and VIOLA! My problem solved! Nevermind the fact that I pay for 3G and cannot use it....so here's my question, if 3G is the problem on my phone is this an APPLE issue or a NETWORK problem? Do I purchase a new phone and slip in my same SIM card and hope the same does not occur or do I get a whole new SIM card and phone? What is the long term resolution to this problem?
I am happy however to find that my problem is NOT an isolated incident and wish Apple or AT&T had told me this is not so uncommon because I thought (based on the baffled response from Apple) that this has never occurred before. Where is Steve Jobs when we need him?jsavage9621,

I have received an email from a friend with a link which I clicked. It took me to the google home page. I am now suspicious that my friend's email account has been hijacked and the link contained a virus or a Trojan horse. I would know what to do on my PC but am new to the IPad. Can any form of Trojan horse be planted on IOS 6 or am I worrying unnecessarily? Reassurance would be most welcome as I do use the IPad for checking bank details and web purchases. Thanks for any help.

You could create the new Apple ID for her and keep the existing one for you.

I have both the iPhone and New iPad and I was under the impression when sending a text it went from iPhone to iPhone or iPad to iPad. Also, if I send a text from my iPad to someone who only has the iPhone, it comes in on their iPhone. However, I received a text from an individual who only has an iPhone and it came to my iPad and never showed up on my phone...Which means had I not been at home I would not have known I had a text on my iPad???? How does it determine which device it will appear on?
You are probably right - I don't have my iPad with me and was confusing myself. But on the iPad it is receive at email addresses only.
Sending to the phone number will mean ONLY your iPhone gets the message. If you want it to go to ALL devices, then you should have them send to the email address associated with the AppleID you used to set up iMessage originally. Also set that email address up as your caller id on the iPhone so as you send out messages, people will reply to that and both your devices should get them.

what if you just type in a 10-digit phone number on the iPad instead of an email?

I receive daily emails from the NY Times, which I read from my Ipad. Some of the emails will show all of the stories available, and some will only show a few lines in the body and the rest of the email is blank. Any ideas of what I need to do to fix this?
Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps from the tray before doing the reset.

I can receive an iMessage from my daughters iPad although when i reply it says she is unavailable on iMessage. If I initiate the message it will go to her email rather than her iMessage?? Can anyone assist?
I can tell you that with Sprint their coverage area isn't as good as Verizon or AT&T.
Are you sending these imessage while on wifi or cellular data? Also your husband would need to be in a good coverage area.
Usually when imessage is unavailable it will send it as a text. Does your husband receive your imessage as a text? -

Error 3014 may indicate that you need to free up more disk space on the computer before trying to restore again.

What code are you talking about, your Apple ID and password? If you have the Apple ID you can get the password back by going to http://iforgot.apple.com

You might have the WiFi + 3G version of the iPad.
This means you can put a SIM card into the iPad and get the internet where you get mobile coverage.
