Received "Connection Failed" Notice Any Recommendations

Started to have problems downloading mail. Some mail appeared along with the following notice:
"Connection Failed: There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Check the settings for account 'mail.mac.com' (I did, settings ok). The server error was: Mail was unable to verify the identity of this server, which has a certificate issues to 'mail.mac.com'. The error was: An SSL error occurred while trying to read data from the server 'mail.mac.com'. Verify that this server supports SSL and that your account settings are correct. You might be connecting to a computer that is pretending to be 'mail.mac.com', and putting your confidential information at risk."
I check my mail on the .Mac web site and it was the same mail that finally arrived on my computer.
Any suggestions?

I believe my problem was a systems issue that was resolved.

  • HT5479 My brand new ipod nano is no longer connedting to my brand new jbl wireless speaker. It worked fine the first day and now either cannot find the apeaker or the connection "fails."  Any advice?

I bought my dad a new ipod nano and a jbl wireless speaker from the same apple store. Everything worked perfectly with the bluetooth connectivity the first day. Then my dad accidentally hit the "forget this device" button when he was trying to turn the bluetooth off. Now the nano either does not recognize the device or it will recognize the device but not connect. I would appreciate any advice.

Does it charge on a computer? Does it appear in iTunes?
    If so:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Connection Failed, To A Server On My Network

I have a Mac Mini that I use for backing up several other Macs on my network. The problem is, the only user that can log into the Mini, is the user name and password that is the owner of the Mini.
I connect to the Mini by: Finder > Go > Network
Then I select the Mini and choose Connect.
When I enter the user name and password of the main account on the Mini, it works just fine.
When I try to connect to the Mini with any of the other accounts I set up on the Mini, they all fail. The message I get is:
    Connection Failed -5000
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
    G5 Dual 2.5 GHZ, 4.5 MB (cause WinXP Can't), GeForce 6800 Ultra, Sonnet SATA 4+4   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Here's how I moved the user directories:
    Move User Folder:
    sudo ditto -rsrcFork -V /Users /Volumes/SecondPartitionName/Users
    Update NetInfo Manager:
    /Volumes/SecondPartitionName/Users/
    Delete Old User Directory:
    sudo rm -dr /Users
Create Symbolic Link To New Directory:
    sudo ln -s /Volumes/SecondPartitionName/Users /Users
When I mentioned that I had to "point" the system to the neew drive, I realized that I had forgotten to update NetInfo Manager with the new path name.
So, as I first mentioned, I did all the above steps when I first set up the system. However, then I added new users, who weren't in the user directory on the second partition. So, I deleted all the new users. Then added one back. I performed all the steps above, except I added the new user name after /Users. Such as:
    sudo ditto -rsrcFork -V /Users/NewUser /Volumes/SecondPartitionName/Users/NewUser
This appears to be working. The new user can now log directly into the Mini. Also, the new user can log into the Mini over the network and the new user can see all the contents of their home directory.
In terms of the Second Partition:
    Ingore ownership is NOT checked.
    Owner is system.
    Group is admin
    Others is Read Only
However, I have a second, external drive that I partitioned for each user. I want each user to be able to access their own parition and use that to back up their files. I don't want the other users to have access to other users partitions. (except for the Mini's administrator). Unfortunatley, the only thing each user can access is their own Home directory. Only the Mini administrator can log into the Mini and have the option to mount any of the partitions.
Now each of the partions on the external driver DO have ignore ownership on this volume checked. Also, the owner for each external partition is the Mini administrator. Also the Group is the Mini administrator.
Should I assign ownership for each partition to each user?
Will the Mini administrator still be able to access all partitions?
Do I need to create some new groups to better manange this?

  • Wifi-menu -o: CONNECTING FAILED

EDIT: It seems my problem is just this: I installed netctl and I have started it using systemd. When I write sudo wifi-menu -o, and try to connect to my wireless network using the correct password (I've tried many times), it just instantly tells me "CONNECTING FAILED" - without any apparent waiting for the router to respond, although I don't know.
Edit: I tried NetworkManager as well, and connecting via nmtui, it says "Could not activate connection: Activation failed"... Help.
    (old)
I was using connman on my desktop until a recent system upgrade where it only said "Input/output error" when I tried to connect to wireless networks. I installed the packages netctl, ifplugd and wpa_actiond and read a bit about netctl on arch wiki. With `wifi-menu -o` I generated a profile in /etc/netctl for my wireless network. I called the profile "31". I have enabled and started netctl using systemctl. I also wrote `sudo netctl enable 31`. Now, when I write `sudo netctl start 31`, I get this error:
    $ sudo netctl start 31

    $ systemctl status netctl@31

    Here is the profile:
    $ sudo cat /etc/netctl/31

Edit: Shamefully.. I was a bit too fast to post. I read this just when I posted and it worked!
Edit 2: Rebooted and still the same problem. journalctl -xn says nothing about network errors.
Edit 3: Rebooted, and ran journalctl -xn as super user. It now gave relevant information:

Edit 4: Tried to set up the profile again using wifi-menu; seems I have overlooked an important detail: wifi-menu tells me "CONNECTING FAILED" even though I'm sure I wrote the right password (several times). The router uses wpa2.

Same problem here. Seriously, the team's arch have to see what the hell is wrong with the packages that are responsible for the wireless system.

    Hi there,
I have uploaded a file in the repository and when I checked the queue it returned TREX: Preparation Failed. Checking on the TREX queue, it returned the code 8010 - Creating Connection Failed.
Any idea how to fix this issue?
    Thanks!

  • I receive a "failed to connect" message even though I am connected to the wireless network. What's wrong?

I'm not even sure it's a problem with Firefox. Every time I attempt to connect to the internet, I receive a "failed to connect" error message. I've checked my network connection and it's connected, but I can't get any pages to load. I do not have a firewall installed, and I've run out of ideas on how to fix it.

I don't know much about computers, so please be patient. I started using Airport and I recently noticed a "network" option right below "Macintosh HD". When I click on "network" it shows "b67446000000" with a computer monitor icon and "connection failed". When I right click on this and select "Get more info" it displays nothing, just the spinning wheel. When I select "Connect As" it asked for my password to connect to "Server b67446000000". This may have been on my computer since I got it, I never paid much attention. Is this part of the operating system or has someone hijacked my computer? Why would I need a server...it's just me and my one computer? Maybe someone has hacked in through Airport? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Is your airport a Time Capsule.. if so it is able to serve files on the network.
The number is the MAC address of the network in the router.
Please reset the apple router whatever is and redo the setup.. this time give it a simple name.. eg TCgenX where X is the actual gen of the unit and give it a simple wireless name.. TCwifi and a simple password with 8-20 characters mix of upper and lower case and numbers.
Perhaps even better give me a screenshot from the computer of the airport utility showing me the Airport with its MAC address.

My ipod has received error code (9).  I have tried to restore, but failed.  Any idea how to restore back to original settings?

    Error 9
This error occurs when the device unexpectedly loses its USB connection with iTunes. This can occur if the device is manually disconnected during the restore process. This issue can be resolved by performing USB troubleshooting, using a different USB dock-connector cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.

  • Publishing of the translation for an Iview fails without any notice

We face the followoing problem with an custom IView in SAP portal:
The publishing of the translation for an Iview fails without any notice it only works directly after the IView was deployed.
The translation is done by first generating the translation data then translating to the several languages, marking the data as translated. After that the translation is published via the Translation Worklist Coordination.
All is done in the Portal under Contenet-Administration->Portal Content Translation, Translation Worklist Coordination and Worklist Translation
The publishing works directly after deployment of an iView but if one tries to retranslate the translation is saved in the repository but not published. If we delete the translation Worklist and start over again the translations that are not published are still in the generated data but still we can’t publish them.
There is no Information that the publication failed or anything. In the Worklist it just goes back to normal state where we can again generate the translation data.
The Iview is a Java IView for the translation a properties file was created and all the words from properties file show up in the generated data from the Worklist.
We could deploy the Iview every time the translation needs to be changed but the customer wants to do the translation without that step.
    We use the following Versions:

  • I receive an error in Firefox 4.0 Beta 11: Secure Connection Failed An error occurred during a connection. Renegotiation is not allowed on this SSL socket. (Error code: ssl_error_renegotiation_not_allowed) Anyone know how to fix this?

I have installed the Firefox 4.0 Beta 11 (+updates), I try to connect to our https: website and I receive the following error:
Secure Connection Failed An error occurred during a connection.
Renegotiation is not allowed on this SSL socket.
    (Error code: ssl_error_renegotiation_not_allowed)
I have installed this certificate on Firefox 3.6.13 and I am able to connect to our HTTPS site but it will not work with the Beta 4.0 11

I read about this for ages. I had problems setting up a certificate for my online banking. This one solution genuinely worked for me (finally!) ...Fingers crossed it will for you too:
    1) In the address bar type in '''about:config''' ...Firefox will say it's dangerous, but I just went ahead anyway lol - It's fine. Thank god there's always an edit-undo!
    2) Copy and paste this into the ''filter'' at the top: '''security.ssl.allow_unrestricted_renego_everywhere'''
    3) Then change ''false'' to ''true'' (I think I just clicked it, and it changed)
That's it! Refresh your bank page, and it should work!

  • We are receiving a "Secure Connection Failed" error message when using Firefox Version 37.01. What is the remedy?

We have multiple websites that do not launch now as a result of the recent upgrade from Firefox version 36.04 to version 37.01. We received "Secure Connection Failed" error messages which indicate that the connection was interrupted while the page was loading, and that the page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified. Please explain why this is happening, and if a fix will be issued soon by Mozilla, as everything was operating normally prior to the most recent Firefox upgrade. Alternatively, please identify browser settings that can/should be changed in order for Firefox to access these basic Internet sites (that are completely accessible using other browsers such as IE and Google Chrome). Thank you.

This article has a link for more information on finding your profile directory: [[Fix the "Could not initialize the application's security component" error message]]. On Windows 7, you can try this (either in a Windows Explorer window address bar or from the start menu search box):
    %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
You may see one folder in there and that's the one you want. If you see more than one, look for the one with the most recently modified files.

(1) a Flash Player stopped flashing, an "player stopped" message appeared, "send error report" and a reload player message was included. (2) I just received a error message > 400 "Bad Request" when the browser first opened. This has never happened before.

It is a Remote Desktop Client Update 3.7.1
Thank you for answering. I apologize it has taken me so long to get back in here.
I just realized that I wrote that I installed from app store originally, but I must correct that statement. I never paid for the app so it must have come preinstalled on my 2011 iMac. I was confused since the update is through the store so I assumed I downloaded it. Sorry for any miscommunication.
So to be clear, even though I have never remotely administered / accessed my computer and I no longer have ARD on my computer, it is normal to have the client update appear in my App Store. Is that correct?
    I appreciate your assistance.
