Received error 1602 during update of ipod touch 4g

I was downloading a new update for my ipod touch 4g, it did backup but then stopped with error 1602. All my ipod shows now is an itunes emblem and a usb end. When I plug in the ipod it no longer shows in windows?? Help please.

Finally I had success, updating the device to IOS5. The solution was, to bring the Ipod to DFU mode. In this mode the update worked immediatelly. I used the already downloaded new OS and the update started without any problem on the first trial.
Here an (German) internet link to show, what to do to bring the device to this mode:

Yep. 5th gen is failing OTA and via iTunes (both Windows and Mac). I couldn't install 6.1 Beta 5 over the weekend, and now the final version fails -- when trying to restore or update -- too.
Many devs were mentioning that 6.1 wasn't installing on 5th gen Touches over on the iOS dev forums, but Apple released it today anyway. Weird. And not good.
Not user error. Apple's screwed something up here...
    Well that's not good

  • Received Error 1602 while updating to 6.1.2

I Was Upgrading to 6.1.2 When Suddenly i Get The Message, Error 1602, Cannot Restore. So I Try Restoring It Again, But The Same Problem Keeps Coming Up. And My Ipod Touch Wont Even Switch On Now. What Do I Do? And Yes, I've Tried Putting It In DFU Mode, And I've Tried Nearly Everything. It Seems Like I Made A Huge Mistake By Asking My Dad To Get Me One Of These, I Should Have Gone With Android. At This Point, Even Windows Seems Better Than iOS, All I've Had Is Problems Since I've Bought This Thing.

    Error 1604
This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
    When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.
    Error 1600, 1601, 1602
Follow the steps listed above for Error 1604. This error may also be resolved by disabling, deactivating, or uninstalling third-party security, antivirus, and firewall software. See steps in this article for details on troubleshooting security software.

  • ITunes 11.1.1.11 errors out During SYNC with iPod Touch

I have an issue with iTunes 11.1.1.11 on my Windows 7 computer. When my iPod Touch, Generation 4 is connected and trying to select the Podcasts Tab in the iPod window with my iPod connected, iTunes locks up and freezes. The only way to get iTunes to do anything is to open Task Manager and end task for iTunes as it shows it as not responding.
I have tried to remove and clean install iTunes again and it does the same thing.

I'm having this issue on the following computers and devices:
2011 15" MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion with these devices: an iPad 2 running 7.0.3 and a 4G iPod Touch running 6.1.3.
2010 13" MacBook Pro running Lion with a 3G iPod Touch running 5.1.1.
The problem started when I upgraded to iTunes 11.1.2. So, at least for me the culprit seems to be iTunes.
    gearmaster wrote:
Same thing has been happening to me after updating both iTunes and my iPhone today... keeps getting stuck at "Finishing Sync."  I managed to fix it though... when it's stuck on "Finishing Sync", find your device in iTunes (if you have the preview pane open on the left side, you'll see it under 'devices').  Then click the 'Sync" button on the bottom right.  It'll do a sync to your device again, but it won't hang on the last step anymore (at least it didn't for me).  I hope that helps anyone else with the same problem!
    Thanks! That fixed it.

  • Error (-1) when updating my Ipod Touch version 2.2.1?

I have tried a few of the suggestions on the Apple site.  I have updated to the latest version of iTunes.  Unfortunately I do not have another computer to try it out on.  Not sure if there is anything else I can try, or if I'm just stuck with version 2.2.1???

    Error 1 or -1
This may indicate a hardware issue with your device. Follow Troubleshooting security software issues, and restore your device on a different known-good computer. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
The "device may need service" means a hardware problem. in that case make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • HT5052 hi , i cant update mi ipod touch software, a soon as the download process in finished an error message appears

hi , i cant update mi ipod touch software, a soon as the download process in finished an error message appears :" session time has expired" something like that

Disabling the computer's security software during the download and update usually resolves a network timeout error.

If you get a network timed out error, try disabling the security software on the computer during the download and install.
You can also try a direct download andinstall by:

  • What does error -3259 mean? How can i update my ipod touch to the new ios 5?

I been updating my ipod touch 4 software to the new ios 5 all day. i tried disabling my security programs and firewall, different download programs and reinstalling iTunes, and restarting my ipod touch. But for each attempt i get a different error. i went to the Specific update and restore errror code page and got a reason for each error except for error -3259. Basically my question is: 1. How can i update my ipod software to io5 and 2. What is the reason behind error -3259?

Connect it to iTunes on a computer and update it from there. Note that the second generation iPod touch(which includes 8GB models sold at the same time as the third generation ones) can't be updated past 4.2.1.

    Step 1 – Open the Terminal.app
Either by start typing Terminal on the Spotlight, or by going into Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal.
Step 2 – Open the hosts file
Open the hosts by typing on the Terminal that you have just opened:
    view source
    print?
    1
    $ sudo nano /private/etc/hosts
Type your user password when prompted.
Step 3 – Edit the hosts file
    By deleting

    #127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com
from your hosts file, save close and then reboot.
    Or in Windows:
Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc, open hosts file in notepad and remove
    #74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
    #127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com

  • While I was updating my ipod touch there was an error and it said my ipod needed to be restored so I did that but I seemed to have lost all the photos I had on my ipod.  Is there anyway to get them back?

While I was updating my ipod touch there was an error and it said I needed to restore my ipod.  I restored it from backup but I seem to have lost all my pictures that I had stored on there.  Is there any way to get them back?

    - Try restoring from a backup that include the photos. See the restore topic of:
    iOS: How to back up
    - If you use PhotoStream you should be able to get the last 30 days worth from your PhotoStream. See:
iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
