No.
You should never respond to such unsolicited pop-up messages.
Doing that is a sure way to get infected with malware.
Do a malware check with a few malware scan programs.
You need to use all programs because each detects different malware.

<u>'''In some cases'''</u>, the fake anti-virus will install malware if you click on a "Close" button or the "X" on the fake alert window. Generally, close in Task Manager's Processes tab, <u>'''''IF'''''</u> you can recognize the correct process to terminate.
Yes, do a complete, thorough malware scan.

  • Have A "Security Threat Analysis" Problem

While browsing with Firefox today, I received a pop up box warning me of a "Security Threat Analysis" and inviting me to click "OK" to start the analysis. The Firefox browser window showed "www1.avforall119.co.cc" I tried to shut the box using the red "X" and the Firefox window minimised. Thereafter, I could not get Firefox to open except in the minimised "Security Analysis" window.
I have scanned with Windows Defender and Malwarebytes, but nothing found. Meanwhile, I have been able to get an operational Firefox back by uninstalling it and reinstalling it. However, I am concerned that there is still a hidden nasty on my PC. Grateful for advice as to what to do next.

You probably picked something up when you clicked on the red X in that window - in the future you should open the Windows Task Manager > Processes tab and kill the process that exploit opened.
First thing to do is to update your AntiVirus program definitions, and then run a full, deep scan of your PC.
Second, I don't know how good Windows Defender is, but Malwarebytes seems to pickup like 90% - only, you should do a scan using other programs, too.

An icon has appeared on my desktop called colour sync utility.  I clicked on it, and it came up with information about needing to repair something which I tried to do but it didnt work. What is this and shouldI be worried ?

The Color Sync Utility is part of OSX and usually resides in the Application/Utilities folder.
Don't know how it appeared on your desktop.
But it is no malware, spyware or the like but as said part of OSX.

  • I can't run my Webroot Internet Security Suite while Mozilla Firefox Beta 4 is installed. How do I uninstall Mozilla Firefox Beta 4

My Webroot Internet Security Suite will not detect cookies, viruses, webroot kits, or trojans with Mozilla Firefox Beta 4 installed according to Webroot and documented history. No cookies or virus detection in 3 months.

hello jlzibell, please go through the troubleshooting steps described at [[Websites say cookies are blocked - Unblock them]].

  • Was the pop-up "Firefox security alert" I got yesterday really from you? It said Firefox was scanning my system and found 94 infected objects and recommended that I click on "Start Protection" to "erase all threats." What is this?

The pop-up included a chart with the following entries:
Name - Type - Threat level
    W32.Nimba.j@mm - Virus - Medium
    Trojan Horse IRC/Backdoor.SdBot4.FRV - Virus - Medium
    W95/Eikern F-Secure - Virus - High
    AdvWare.Hotbar - Virus - High
    etc. etc.
There were maybe 10-15 "threats" listed.

That is not from Firefox, Mozilla does not scan your computer for viruses/malware. This will not be a genuine scan, it is a scam that is trying to get people to install some form of malware/virus/trojan. Those fake scans are aimed at Windows users, and the scan will look like a scan run on a Windows computer.

  • Using a new monitor, Mozilla Firefox now has a distracting horizontal line every few lines when scrolling. This doesn't happen with another browser. HELP!

The horizontal, wavering "line" is disruptive when scrolling. What's causing this. Doesn't happen with other browser and I'd like to stay with Mozilla Firefox, if we can resolve this. Thank you.

hi Liza5, maybe that's an issue with hardware acceleration - please try [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL|updating your graphics driver]] or in case there is no new version available at the moment or this doesn't solve the issue, disable hardware acceleration in the firefox ''menu ≡ > options > advanced > general'' (that setting will take a restart of the browser to take effect).

  • I set my homepage but when I reopen Firefox, it is back to what it was. How do I fix this?

I just upgraded Firefox and tried to change my homepage. I went to the page, clicked on tools, options, and make current page my homepage. It made the changes but as soon as I close Firefox and reopen it, the old homepage is back. If I click on tools, options, etc. it shows the old homepage. How can I change my homepage?

    Please do the following:<br><br>
    * In the location bar, type '''about:config''' and hit Enter.<br><br>
    * In the filter at the top, type: '''keyword.URL'''<br><br>
    * Double click it and remove whatever's in there and replace it with http://www.bing.com/search?q=<br>
The URL to add in "keyword.URL" becomes a link in this post, so right click it and choose "Copy Link Location" to copy it to the Windows clipboard. Then hit CTRL+V to paste it. Saves you having to type the whole thing.
'''To reset your home page, do the following'''.<br><br>
    * Go to the site you want to set as your homepage.<br><br>
    * Click the orange Firefox button and go to '''Options '''| '''Options '''| '''General'''.<br><br>
    * Make sure it says "''Show My Homepage''" in the first dropdown menu.<br><br>
    * Click the button called "'''Use Current Pages'''" to set the homepage to the one you have on the screen.

  • Since installing iOS 7 my 4s iPhone does not ring for all callers. I receive some calls ok, others never ring even tho I know someone was tryine to reach me. This is very frustrating!

I discovered this issue when a friend of mine called my home phone to tell me that when he called my cell phone it sent him directly to the messinging service.
It never even rang. It was like the phone was off. And that is NOT the case as my phone is always ON, at all times.
I could call my iPhone with my wife's iPhone, and hers would ring through. I could call my iPhone from my home phone, and it would ring my iPhone
But many other people who have tried to reach me don't have any luck, even when I'm listeneing to hear the ring and pick up. It never rings. Just leaves
a note saying "missed call" and maybe a message, if the caller left one.
Very frustrating for me. I could sure use some assistance!
    Thanks,
    Ezryder

    Thanks for your answer...
My iPhone was connected to a wifi internet when I tried to activate it and when I tried activation by iTunes I was using my laptop with windows 7 which was connected to internet by cable.
I updated my iPhone to IOS 7 when I was in Egypt and I had no problems with updating it and I can't remember if finding my iPhone option was on or off before updating to IOS 7 and as i understood from searching internet that to use iCloud Finder on web from computer to find my iPhone it should be set up already on my iPhone and I didn't set up iCloud on my iPhone before and my Apple ID wasn't verified for iCloud till today, I verfied it by logging in iCloud from a friend iPad.
I was considering already the option that my iPhone has been hacked but if this happened so how I would unlock my iPhone and activate it to back to work? who would help me with that? I'm so tired of being without my phone for almost 4 days and I started to consider not having any Apple product anymore... I think that this way to secure the consumer has a lot of conflicts...

  • Mail account would not send email.  Now it won't send or receive.  I use yahoo plus.  Troubleshoot, virus, etc.? How do I start over if necessary?

A few days ago, got the message that I could not connect to the outgoing server.  Tried a few things suggested here.  Nothing worked.  Now, I can't send or receive mail.  Any help would be most appreciated.  I am not a tech type at all.  Thanks in advance!

Hi Ozzie, Yahoo has frequent outages, & also had 20 million usenames hacked in the last few days.

Can you login using a Web Browser?
In Mail's Window Menu, choose Connection Doctor, any red dots for status, if so what is the exact message?
Then click the Show Details button & Check again.
The Password rejection can confuse people since it's a catch all meaning...
This Password, Username, Authentication method... is not recognized on this Port to this Server, or a server end problem.
If using a browser to login via WebMail works it's not Name or Password, but one of the other ones.
    The receiving email ports are:
    IMAP is port 143
    IMAP-SSL is port 993
    POP is port 110
    POP-SSL is port 995
    Outgoing ports are...
SMTP and SMTP-SSL is on ports 25, 587 and 465. Port 587 has to be SSL, and port 465 is enforced TLS-wrapped and is generally used by Outlook users.

  • I have Mozilla Firefox and Adobe Flash Player 13 Plug-in won't allow me to watch YouTube videos

Up until last week I had IE9 and was able to download and watch YouTube videos with my son and play Facebook games.  Then one evening I tried to pull up a Yo Gabba Gabba video on YouTube and the video window was blank.  I had watched this video the night before with him, and the only thing I can think of is there was a Flash Player update that tried to download.  I saw several posts that suggested downloading a new broswer, but I waited for 3 nights thinking it was just a glitch.  I finally gave up and sent a pm to one of my friends who is a Internet Service Technician.  She told me to download Mozilla Firefox, which I did, and the problem seemed to be solved.  I was once again able to download and watch YouTube videos, as well as play games on Facebook.  And it seemed my pages, pictures, etc. all downloaded 10x faster.  That worked until the next evening and suddenly I once again could not download and watch YouTube videos.
I checked my system and it found that Adobe had done an automatic update so that instead of just having Adobe Flash Player 13 Active X I now had Adobe Flash Player 13 plug-in.  I also noticed that Adobe Air was downloaded on my computer.  I went in and uninstalled the Adobe Flash Player 13 Plug-in and I was once again able to download and watch YouTube videos.  But when I tried to play games on Facebook I was told I would need to install at least Adobe Flash Player 10.0.2.  I went to find that or an older version but each time I tried to download from Adobe I would get the Adobe Flash Player 13 Plug-in version, and once again I was unable to download and watch YouTube videos.  I was, however, able to play the games on Facebook again.
Remember when I just had Adobe Flash Player 13 Active X I was able to do both while having Mozilla Firefox.  I have looked all over the internet and I cannot find recent articles that talk about this problem.  Can someone please tell me what I can do so that I can keep Mozilla Firefox, as it is 10X faster than IE9 and with Firefox my Facebook doesn't crash all of the time?  But I also want to have the ability to download and watch YouTube videos with my son, as well as the play games on Facebook.
I should also note each time I went to uninstall Adobe Flash Player 13 Plug-in I received an error message saying there was a conflict with Mozilla Firefox and I first had to shut it down before the uninstall would proceed.  Also, I received a reply on Adobe's Facebook page from a Tech who had me check to see if I had the latest version of Flash Player.  I did have the most recent version.  He then asked me to go to my add-ons and enable Shockwave.  I followed the instructions and it was already enabled (or it said always activate).  Neither of those helped me be able to download and watch YouTube videos.  But I can still play Facebook games.

What is your current Flash Player version: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html ?
What is your display adapter, driver version & date?  See http://forums.adobe.com/thread/945765

  • I have had Mozilla Firefox for years...now it won't load, but Int.Explorer will. What is wrong?

When I click on the icon or the program it self, or right-click and press OPEN, I get an hourglass, then nothing. It will NOT open. I CAN open Internet Explorer, then open Mozilla Firefox, but what's the point in going through all of that.
This has happened 3 or 4 times before and after a few days begins to work again.
Once I was trying out Google's Chrome, and it quit, but after I uninstalled Chrome, Mozilla started again. Is it that fragile? I really don't know of anything that might have stopped it this time. I am about ready to just give up and uninstall it and go back to Internet Explorer...even though I don't really like it...at least it works every time!
Thanks for any help you may have.

This is most likely because of a recent Flash update (11.3) which has been causing some problems in Firefox recently.
You can try reading the following articles to see if there is a good resolution for your problem:
