It's a phishing attempt to get your account and payment details, it's not from Apple - if you clicked on the links in it and entered your details then you should change your password immediately e.g. by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store on your iPad and selecting 'view apple id' on the popup and signing into it, via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes or via http://appleid.apple.com
If you still have the email then you could forward it to Apple : [email protected]

Also, if you actually look at the HTML behind that "Click Here to Validate Your Account" link, it actually goes to some web site in Russia (specifically h-t-t-p-colon-doubleslash raven.tvercity.ru/hw/upload/redirect/rd.htm).
Clearly a site out to steal identities and compromising personal information
And then it's redirected to a site in the Netherlands. Clearly the crooks are trying to obfuscate their trail to avoid being caught.

Is this email really from apple???
    <Personal Information Edited by Host>

    This is not Apple.
I received the same email today and had it confirmed by Apple that its fraud.
When you click on 'from Apple' in the email, it should come up as noreply@appleweb  This is fraud and bad news.
When you receive something from Apple, it usually ends in apple.com.  Always best checking to be on the safe side though.

If you have been migrated from BTYahoo to BTMail you will receive an email from BT telling you of that.

You will need to contact Support. Go to https://expresslane.apple.com ; select 'All Products and Services' in the first column, 'More Products and Services' in the second column, then 'Apple ID' in the third column. In the next page select 'Other Apple ID Topics' in the first column then 'Lost or forgotten Apple ID password' and click 'Continue'. You will be offered options to contact Apple.

  • I just received this email:

Nous vous informons que votre ID arrive d'expiration dans moins de 48 heures,
il est impératif d'effectuer une vérification de vos informations a présent ,sans quoi votre ID sera détruit .
Cliquez simplement sur le lien ci-dessous et ouvrez
une session a l'aide de votre Apple ID et de votre mot de passe .
It is in French, but it basicaly says that my Apple ID which I've had for years, is about to expire in 48 hours. I became suspicious when the sender's address is "[email protected]". One would think it was an "apple.com" address if it were true. Am I correct in thinking this is a phisher trying to make a scam?

Yes. Forward it to reportphishing at Apple and otherwise ignore or delete it.

  • I have received an email with a link for credit card details for a donation to Firefox. Is this legit? Thanks, Bill.

    your browser.
From Mozilla, a non-profit organization and developer of Firefox
    Hi there,
As 2011 comes to a close, we at Mozilla want to say thank you to all of our Firefox users, supporters and community members. Quite simply, we do what we do because of you.
Mozilla is the force behind Firefox, but we're also a whole lot more than that. And the more people I talk to, the clearer it becomes that not everyone knows what Mozilla is and how we're different. So today, I wanted to make sure you understand it because you're such an important part of our story.
Mozilla is a global non-profit fighting to keep the Internet safe, accessible and awesome. Our goal is to put the power of the Web in people's hands and to innovate for users everywhere. That means a better experience for you and a brighter future for the Web.
So what does that look like? We put together a short video that tells the story of what is possible when a small group of people – a community of idealists, innovators and collaborators – comes together to create, shape and build the future of the Web. Please take a moment to watch the video. If you like it, share it far and wide and consider making a tax-deductible gift to help support the work that we're doing together.
Mozilla is always developing new projects that allow people to dream, discover and create online. Whether it's Hackasaurus, our project that teaches kids to remix and shape the Web in a way that sets them up for a lifetime of creation, or Popcorn, which lets anyone bring the Web into video, we're building software and programs that will create the next generation of webmakers.
But as a non-profit, we can only do that if folks just like you support us.
As the year is almost over – and as part of our ongoing fundraising efforts – I'd like to ask you to make a gift of just $10 or more:
    https://donate.mozilla.org/End-Of-Year
With your help, we can continue to innovate on your behalf without any pressure to compromise, and make the future of the Web brighter than ever. We invite you to be part of something bigger than the Web – something bigger than all of us.
    Sincerely,
    Mark

  • I received an email that asks me to verify my account because is about to expire in 72 hours. Is this legit? or fake?

Hi! I received this email today that says that my apple ID is about to expire and that I have to verify it before it expires so I clicked on the link that says "Verify now," and asks me for my credit card information and personal information just to verify my account. (and even the type of font the use is kind of strange.)

These folks are very "crafty" - clearly they use Apple images, fonts, etc. It is easy to do when the official Apple Style Guide is  publicly available to all ☞   https://help.apple.com/asg/mac/2013/ASG_2013.pdf
The Apple Legal Dept. is very interested and concerned about these folks.

  • I don't understand about this email!!!!!

    Hello Skype ,
I received this email(screenshot below)  today and I am very suspicious about this. Mainly , My name is not Aziz and I don't have any skype related account created under the name of Aziz. Can somebody explain or look into it, please.

"Aziz" as a name is a translation error introduced by the automatic Google translation. The English wording is "Dear valued customer,".
This is a valid notification email sent out by Skype right now an we recommend users to upgrade their Skype applications to benefit from the latest improvements to the Skype chat experience, especially for group chats. You should have received this on your primary email address that you can verify in your profile settings at www.skype.com/go/myaccount
