Receiving calls on multiple devices

for some reason, I am receiving calls on multiple devices when they are in close proximity. For example, if my wife receives a call then my son's phone and my phone will also ring. All devices have been logged out of the Apple ID. As far as I know, this is not happening with iMessage. Any suggestions??

That is a new feature described in Connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac using Continuity - Apple Support
You can turn it off by going to Settings > FaceTime and changing "iPhone Cellular Calls" to off
You may also want to consider using separate Apple IDs. That is now more flexible with new Family Sharing features: http://www.apple.com/ios/whats-new/family-sharing/

  • Mail stopped receiving mail on multiple devices??

I can no longer recieve emails on only one email address, that is on multiple devices. This email address has been operating perfectly fine for years. All of a sudden in the middle of the night, on four devices (iPhone, iPad, Mac Air and Power Mac) mail has stopped being downloaded.
    Things done and symthoms...
Check all settings on all devices - All Good! No error codes
Remove/Re-install on one of the devices. All emails load back in to about the same point as other devices.
Adjusted SSL settings (which worked perfectly fine).
Turned off WiFi - Using cell coverage
    Reset Airport Express
    Webmail is working perfectly fine
Other email accounts with same provider (Go Daddy) working perfectly fine.
    iMap Settings in place

I'm having the exact same issues.  I have about 10 different email addresses.  All have worked fine since I bought the Mac Pro.  As of yesterday, whenever I log into any WiFi netwrok - and networks that always worked in the past - I can't download emails from one of my addresses.  Same is true with the same email accounts on my iPhone.
Interestingly, when I tether my iPhone and use 3G (rather than WiFi) I'm able to send/recieve from this same address on my laptop AND iPhone!!
    APPLE - please advise!

  • FaceTime with Multiple devices question...

If I have FaceTime on my Mac Book Pro, iPhone and iPad and someone makes a FaceTime call to me, can I take the call on any of those devices? If they are all in front of me can I choose what device I want to take the call on?

    iPhones: No
Macs, iPods touch (4Gen), and iPads: Yes
In order to be able to answer a call on multiple devices, each device must have identical FaceTime "Caller iD" addresses. iPhones identifiers are unique, not identical, so each FaceTime call to an iPhone is unique to that one device.
Because iPhone uses its unique phone number as its address while your other devices use working email addresses (Macs and iPods cannot have a "phone number"), iPhones cannot be addressed along with any other devices. Nobody but the one iPhone will receive a FaceTime invitation made to its unique number.
You can use identical information on as many Macs, iPods touch (4Gen), and iPads as you like. A FaceTime invitation to that "Caller iD" can be answered on any of them that are powered up and configured to have FaceTime on and working.
If you want to be able to call from one of your Macs, iPods touch (4Gen), and iPads to another, the two devices must have different "Caller iD". Otherwise, it would be like trying to call one extension telephone from another on the same line. It does not work.
If they are all in front of me can I choose what device I want to take the call on?
    Yes.

  • I am suddenly unable to receive calls on my iPhone 4S.  Is it possible that the age of the phone will affect its ability to receive calls? HELP!

I am suddenly unable to receive calls on my iPhone 4S.
I have spent 2 hour-long sessions with technical support and although they were very nice, it is still not fixed.
When I try to call the phone from a land line, it doesn't ring AND it doesn't recognize that a call is coming in (no missed call) BUT if I leave a message, it records it.
Is it possible that the age of the phone will affect its ability to receive calls?
    HELP!

        MarketingMary,
I am truly sorry to hear that your are unable to receive calls on your device. Thank you tbo27 for providing great troubleshooting steps. Making sure call forwarding is not active by dial *73 is great. Have you already reset network settings also? http://vz.to/RTz70g Are you able to make calls fine? Make sure Do not Disturb is not active. Settings>Do Not Disturb

  • How do I receive messages on multiple apple id's on the same device

I just upgraded to IOS7 and now I can't receive iMessages on one device for multiple Apple IDs.  I have two and typically receive messages on both but when I try to set up another email address to receive messages on in the device setting it tells me that the email address is already in use.  Any suggestions?

Yes they have different sign ins for iCloud, FaceTime, Messages and iTunes, you can all use the same ID to sign into iTunes but use different ones for the others.

  • I have multiple devices that have my iCloud E-mail, I want to disable the E-Mail on some of the devices but keep it on others, I do not have physical access to the ones I want to disable but I do have access to the devices I want to keep receiving mc

I have multiple devices that have my iCloud E-mail, I want to disable the E-Mail on some of the devices but keep it on others, I do not have physical access to the ones I want to disable but I do have access to the devices I want to keep receiving mail, can I do this with a simple password reset or will that still leave all devices enabled?

The simple way would be to uncheck 'Mail' in System Preferences (or Settings)>iCloud, but as you would need access to the devices in question to do that you will have to change your password, at http://appleid.apple.com. You will then need to sign out and back on all the devices you want to be able to receive mail, and it's important that you follow this procedure and note the warning:
Firstly, if you have 'Find My iPhone/iPad/iMac' enabled on any of your devices, turn it off.
Go to http://appleid.apple.com and click 'Manage your Apple ID'. Sign in with the current ID.
Where it says 'Password & Security' and gives your current ID email address, click 'edit'.
Enter your new password and click 'Save changes'.
Now you will need to go to each of your devices and sign out in System Preferences (or Settings)>iCloud - 'Sign out' on a Mac, 'Delete this account' on an iOS device (this will not delete the account from the server).
Then sign back in with your new ID. Your iCloud data will disappear from your devices when you sign out, but reappear when you sign back in.
I re-iterate: before you start, turn off 'Find My Mac' (or whatever) or you will need the services of Support.
The devices on which you have not changed the password will throw up continual error messages as they attempt to contact iCloud and fail.

  • Is there a way to send and receive SMS on multiple cellular devices without using iMessage?

I currently own a cellular iPad mini and an iPhone 4s and would like SMS to be the same on both devices as well as my desktop.
After many months of struggling with iMessage, I decided to turn it off entirely.  I discovered that my best friend did not receive dozens of my texts over the span of a few months (I compared our message history side by side).  Seems like it had something to do with traveling in and out of wifi zones or possibly conflicts between our two carriers, ATT and Verizon.  Regardless, I am not willing to dive into iMessage fully until this gets sorted out.  Further, SMS is the standard message format for everyone outside of the Apple sphere, and I do not feel comfortable lumping them together into one app.  If I decide to switch to Android, will all of my contacts with iPhones continue sending me iMessages?
    Thank you for your help!

Is there a way to send and receive SMS on multiple cellular devices without using iMessage?
Search the iTunes App Store for any 3rd party SMS apps that may be available.
If I decide to switch to Android, will all of my contacts with iPhones continue sending me iMessages?
Android phones don't receive iMessages, they can recieve SMS messages sent through the iOS Messages app. The app that your contacts choose to use to send you messages is completely up to them.

    Hello!
On all of these devices, go to: Settings > iCloud and make sure they're updated with the new password. If you're talking about Macs, go to: "System Preferences > iCloud" too.

There's an Apple help page on the DNS problem - at http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3408
The first thing to try is changing your DNS settings - and for that you need to open System Preferences, then the
    Network section.
In Network - click  on Advanced - then the DNS tab
under DNS servers - use the + button to enter two extra lines
    either these, from google dns
    8.8.8.8
    8.8.4.4
    or from OpenDNS
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
then click OK & then 'Apply'
You would need to do that seperately for the Cable (Ethernet) settings and Wireless (Airport)

    Thank u

    Hi softwater,
Thank you for the suggestion.  I haven't looked into Carbon Copy Cloner previously, I'll check it out.
I'll see what I can do about getting to a store.  I've only just had the MBP13 get a logic board replacement, for which it had to be in store for a week, so I'll have to make plans to move data around so I can keep working while it's out of action.
I won't be able to take it to a store for at least another week, so if anyone else has an (unlikely) solution in the meantime I'd be very appreciative!
    Thanks

  • Facetime calling multiple devices

In our house, we have 1 iphone  and 2 new ipods.  We share an apple id but have different facetime email addresses.  Recently, when my son gets a facetime "call" it, it calls all 3 devices.  The person is only using his email address for facetime.  Is there a setting somewhere that I accidently turned on?  Thanks!!!!

There is a setting.  Evidently at some point, the apple id email got added to the facetime settings as an alternate or even primary email.  I was able to remove it from the other devices and all is well

  • Multiple Verizon Customers can't make/receive calls

Me, my wife, and 2 other Verizon customers in our neighborhood are having problems. We can connect to 3g, have good signal for the most part, but we can't make or receive calls or text messages. I, my wife, and one friend all have the 4s, for sure, and I have another friend in the neighborhood (model unknown) who is experiencing the same problem. We can connect to 3g, but can't make/receive calls or texts over CDMA (apparently). I've hit the "Extended" network a few times and made calls. My Verizon signal is and has always been 50%-75% usually, with 100% sometimes. My friend says his daugher's iPhone 4 is working without issues.
When we get away from home, our phones work fine. My biggest concern is safety, since we have no landline at home. It's been this way since I've got home 330 p.m. Friday. Going on 48 hours now.
I would have called customer service, but....

This is a customer-to-customer forum, not Customer Service.  Have you tried contacting Customer Service via some else's phone or by going to the local Corporate store?  Maybe there's an outage in your area?

  • Multiple devices sharing one acct. iMessage gets tangled

how can my multiple devices use the same iTunes on PC, same purchashing on iTunes and not get the imessages and other icloud functions tangled between devices

To keep your text messages separated, everyone should use a different Apple ID for iMessage on their devices.  You can still share the same iTunes ID and have different IDs for other services such as iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, etc.
To change IDs, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a separate ID.  To avoid getting eadh other's FaceTime calls, do the same thing in Settings>FaceTime.
