Receiving Calls w/ Unlimited Subscription

I just bought an unlimited subscription for U.S. & Canada and I would like to make sure that that also covers incoming calls. Meaning, that I won't have to pay anything extra when someone calls me over Skype with my online phone number.
Thank you!

Hi,
Subscriptions themselves don't include currently Online Numbers, therefore if you wish to receive a call from landline or mobile number you will need to purchase Online Number separately.

If you wish to receive calls from other Skype users then they can simply call your Skype username.

  • Paid for a subscription but cannot receive calls

My year subscription was ending, so I renewed with a one month unlimited world. It shows the payment was delivered. I have logged out of my account and back in like was suggested on the website. People from landlines and cell phones cannot call my number. I can call out to cell phones and landlines, but when they try to call me, they get a busy signal or the call will not go through. I had no trouble with my previous subscription, so I don't understand what's going on.
I use my Skype for work, so am in a bit of a quandry because my clients cannot reach me if there is a problem.
    Please help!
    Thanks,

    Hello,
    Do you mean an Online#?
To receive calls you require an Online#.
A Call Plan subscription will allow you to make calls - not receive them.
If your issue is with an Online # make sure it is activated.
If it is first check that your privacy settings are set to ''Allow calls from anyone''. Then change them to "Allow SkypeIn calls from "Only people from my Contacts List". Save and wait for 5 minutes. Log out from your Skype account and log back in. Change settings back to "Allow calls from Anyone". Save and wait for 5 minutes. Log out from your Skype account and log back in.

  • Subscriptions to receive calls?

    Hi guys,
My fiancee is from the UK, while I am in the US. While I figure out my visa to move in a few months, I have a UK skype number so he can call me for free, but I get charged through Skype and I cover it with my Skype credit (the call is forwarded to my mobile). Is there any subscription that would cover the scenario of received calls, rather than making calls? All the subscriptions say "CALLING TO", but never mention receiving calls. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

the only reason you are being charged when your fiancee calls your Skype Number is that you are forwarding them to your mobile, and that is an OUTGOING call from Skype's perspective
you need either Skype Credit or a calling subscription (like Unlimited US/Canada) to cover the cost of these calls

    Neil

  • Unlimited subscription and online number

I'm a great fan of voip and Skype but one thing that really bugs me is the fact that Skype neither provides an online Israeli number nor an unlimited plan for calling mobiles. There are simply no decent voip services available that even come close to Skype in terms of call rates and quality.
Are you going to do something about it anytime soon or should I keep on dreaming?
    Sincerely,
    Von

I don't want to just say "keep on dreaming", but that might be the answer to your question.
Skype does not charge different rates for Online Numbers in different countries.  This means that Skype will only pay a provider of those services up to a certain amount for an Online Number used to receive calls from telephones.  It is possible that it would cost too much in Israel for Skype to do this, or there may be national regulations that prevent Skype from offering Israeli Online Numbers (this is the case in Canada).
As for a subscription for unlimited calling to Israeli mobile phones, this is entirely related to the cost to call those numbers.  I looked at the per-call rates, and it would probably be a very expensive monthly subscription if Skype offered an "unlimited" subscription for calling those phones.  Skype doesn't offer "unlimited" subscriptions for mobiles, usually in those places where the costs to call a mobile are the same as calling a landline phone (very few places have this) or the difference is smaller than it appears to be in Israel right now (2.3 US cents/minute for calling Israeli landline phones when paying with Skype Credit, compared to 13.8 US cents/minute for calling Israeli mobile phones - not including the connection fee per call).
    Sorry!

We recently purchased a year long unlimited calling plan AND a skype to go number.

Can you tell me why this is happening and how can we fix it so that I can receive calls to my to go number???

If you mean "Online Number" please do the following:
First check your privacy settings are set to ''Allow calls from anyone''.Then change them to "Allow SkypeIn calls from Only people from my Contacts List".Save and wait for 5 minutes.Log out from your Skype account and log back in. • Insufficient credit on an unlimited subscription

I have just bought the unlimited subscription and can not make a call at all. It keeps tellin me I have insufficient credit.. On an unlimited subscription.. How does that work? I did have to buy more credit because I needed to make phone calls, but missed the chance I can't get in touch with them now. But that's not the issue, the issue is why can't i use the service I'm paying for? My internet is fine, my phone is fine, everything is just fine just the service.

    Hey TanjaB,
Finally managed to work it out with skype, not sure if this will apply to you but it did with me. Because my partner has an Estonian mobile number, skype subscriptions only work with landlines in Estonia.
Regardless if she is in Norway at the moment will have to go through the Estonian Company first, so she will need to get a sim from Norway or Finland (her next stop) they are part of the mobile subscription, or any of the other countries thats part of the mobile coverage list, otherwise you can only call landlines.
But positive thing is, once she has a sim from one of the areas that is covered by the subscription she could be ANYWHERE in the world and you can speak to them providing they have reception and thats about it. Thats how i have understood it anyway, and saves getting credits, or the 60min, 120min packages which are expensive.

  • How to receive calls?

Since I go to business trip around the world quite ofter, I was looking for the best way for me to make and receive calls.
Since most of my business partners are not skype users AND I may not have internet connection, I would like to know how can I make and receive landline/mobile calls without any internet connection.
It seems to me that I can call someone's landline/mobile using a Skype To Go number without internet connection, but how exactly can I RECEIVE calls using this same Skype To Go number? I know that I can receive landline/mobile calls with Skype Number in Skype but that would require internet connection.
Again, for Pay As You Go and Subscription, how can I receive calls from landline/mobile?
    Thank you very much.

Are you wanting these calls to go to your voicemail automatically or you'll be answering live?
What happens when the automated systems calls your phone?

  • Phone is searching...cannot text, make or receive calls

I have powered off and back on and it's still doing the same thing. I have an unlimited data plan, but cannot get onto the internet either. However, I can connect to the wifi at my work and am receiving emails and can get online. Still cannot text, make or receive calls.

Were you able to resolve this issue?  Mine did the exact same thing 3 weeks ago.  Took it into the Diamond Wireless Premier Provider Kiosk where I had purchased and signed up...after powering down, going to plane mode and trying a reset - nothing happened.  They sent a new one to me and alas after another week...same thing.  They're sending another one - I'm tired of this happening.

i just called hbo now.  they are on system overload.  apparently no one can sign in.  she recommended i try to sign in during the middle of the night to see if it works. they "hope" to have the problems resolved in short order.  she said not to sign up for a new subscription because you will be charged for 2 subscriptions.

  • Origin of call with Skype subscriptions

I understand the Skype subscriptions and their rates when calling TO a specific country, but does it matter where you call FROM/ the origin of the call if you have a subsription to call that particular country?
For example:  If I buy a year subscription to call landlines and mobiles in the United States, for the $2.99 a month, does it matter WHERE I am calling from (such as France, London, Germany) as long as I am only calling TO the United States? Or is that rate only for people in the U.S. trying to call others in the U.S? I'm a U.S. resident studying abroad for a year and wasn't sure if the origin of the call/ where I call from, is as important as where the subsription is set up to call to.

When calling telephones, the people you call may see a number based on where Skype patches your call into the telephone network.  When calling phones across the USA and Canada, this is often done from locations in California.  Users have no control over where Skype patches calls into the telephone network, as this is done in part to minimize the costs for those calls (and how there are lower rates in general when calling with Skype, and "unlimited" subscriptions for some parts of the world).
Skype has been doing this for many years, even before its acquisition by a big US-based software company.  It's not some part of a scheme for the US taking over the world.  It is probably cheaper for Skype to patch calls bound for Canadian phone numbers into the phone network from wherever it is being done now (probably in California) than it would be to patch the calls into the phone network somewhere in Canada.

  • NO SIM error. unable to make or receive calls

I preorder a phone in june, and phone didn't work out of box. can not male call or reiceve calls!. When I got exchange after verizon store, I was able use it in certain areas but not all areas... I wasted week with the phone decided to return the phone after waiting for 4 days for service call tag to the engineer to find out what is the problem... I got message from tech saying "problem is solved, it was tower issue." I called back to order another phone, but they said I cannot get the same price as before, because they havent processed my return at the time... I waited over 2 weeks to order a new phone and when I finally got it... it had same problems...  I called them a 3 hours ago, cust rep said I can not return the phone, and had to ask for  the manager. Manager I spoke to was pertty nice, and it seem like he cared. He agreed to take the phone back if I can get it return within 2weeks from orginal date of purchased( Its been 1 week because rep made me wait for another service call tag for engineer. she said she will put it in as highest priority case and she will follow up with and let me know (I never heard from her since that day....what a service)) He also offer to give me 15 dollar for lost of service when I asked for it, but I found out now he did somethings  else to my account. He had changed my unlimited data and 700 shared minute to 2gb with 700 shared minutes.. is this legal?
ps. I'm not the only one with problem.

I feel you pain, I'm in the same boat, I'm on my second S3. the first one threw no sim errors but at least it could make calls. The second one I have also give's me no sim errors and I can't make or receive calls. I have a ticket open currently for this issue, but they do not seem to be doing anything with it. I'm still within the 48 hour window for resolution but I need to make a decision by tomorrow as my 14 days end then. This is the first time I ever had a problem with Verizon, it takes me back to when I had AT&T, at lease I knew I would have crappy service.

  • Pre Sales Question Unlimited Subscription Plan

I'm from India and I would like to buy Unlimited Subscription Plan for India.
    Please clarify on this points:-
    1. Can I call to any number (including mobile) to all the Indian numbers.
    2. Is there any government policy which doesn't allows Indian to use Skype for calling Indian numbers.
    3. Unlimited Indian calls cost $19.99 per month, is there any Fair Usage Policy of how many hours a day I can call.
    4. Can I use my android phone to access skype and call from my mobile.
Please clarify on these points before I go with the purchase of subscription.
    Thanks,

I haven't been following Creative so I can't say what their standard MO is, but I am huge believer in keeping people informed. If you said you were going to do X by Y and you can't, then be up front about it. Say, We have slipped by 2 months or we hit problems which we are still trying to find the solution.
I work in software development and I know that annoucing slip-dates is a huge thing that has PR implications and it all comes down to exactly how you say it, but there should be a middle groud where you can keep your cusomters (and potential) customers informed. Now that Nov has pretty much come and gone, I think most of know they slipped so just let us know what your future plans are. I don't mind buying the device if I knew for sure they would release a firmware in the next couple of months, but I don't feel comfortable doint it now since it has come and gone with no update.
As for devices, I think there are a few. The ones you mentioned plus or 2 from iRi'ver. The interesting fact is that Creative's Portable Media Center supports it so they have first hand experience implementing it. That's not to say there might not be unforseen problems trying to implement it into an existing device.
Anywya, we don't need to beat a deadhorse, I was just really excited to discover the Zen Touch as it had everything I was looking for at the perfect price, but the Janus stuff is pretty much a deal-breaker for me.
    Thanks for all your replies

  • Cannot make or receive calls since BT Infinity

    Hi,
I've had BT Infinity for about a week now.  The hub phone has stopped working.  Now, I understand there are issues with Broadband Talk, and indeed after calling BT (from my mobile, at my cost) I am informed that Broadband Talk isn't compatable, and my account has been cancelled.  I say that's fine, but is there a way for me to make calls using my landline?
The response was 'no'.  So I'm left rather lost, as I've got BT's most expensive broadband and calls package (Infinity option 2 Unlimited, anytime calls etc.) and yet I can't make any form of phone call.
    Help?
I'm not calling BT from my mobile again because I refuse to pay for the privaledge of further misinformation.  Nor am I going to buy a 'normal' phone to see if that works, partly for the aforemention reason, and partly because for the first week of Infinity service, the hub phone worked perfectly.
In fact, if I call my landline number (e.g. from my mobile), the hub phone rings and I can receive calls... but I can't make calls.  This strikes me as completely illogical.
Many thanks for any advice which can be offered!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Update:
This issue has since been fixed.  My landline is functional, and I've setup my hub to go straight to landline and disgard BBTalk (I didn't see the point anyway - now I don't need to press 5 for every call).
I've marked the above as an accepted solution because the support team will listen to you if you do as suggested there.  Losing the line to begin with was an oversight of BT's, which is not really OK, but it was at least fixed promptly.
    Thanks again!

  • Latin America Unlimited Subscription

The Latin America Unlimited Subscription free trial says that is it only valid for land lines.  The phone I called is a Satellite phone, not really a landline, but the call went through.  I just want to make sure the phone number is included in the subscription before I make any more calls. I cancelled my subscription to the free trial, until I figure out the charges to this particular number.

according to what I see here http://www.skype.com/en/offers/latinsubsoffer/ this new subscription only covers calls to landlines in this region
furthermore rural areas in Colombia are not covered either
"Try our new Latin American subscription¹ and call landlines in 10 countries – for free. Make unlimited2 calls to friends and family in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia (excludes rural areas – LEX), Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela."
