Receiving email requests re reconfirming billing info

I received an email from Apple_Inc<@hosticloud.com about a week ago thanking me for using the online store but need me to confirm some of my information. The email looked official with Apple trademark, etc.  I did not click on their link. I checked the info that is listed for my account and it is up to date. Today I received an email from .Apple Store <[email protected]> thanking me for using AppIe online store and telling me I need to reconfirm my billing data as there is some missing information. It is signed Your Friendly Advisor   apple icons Scot apple icons. I did not click on the link. I am assuming that both of these emails are phishing. This last email did not appear legitimate at all. Are others receiving these? Am I correct that the first request is bogus. Is there any action that I should take? I have order software from the Apple Store within the past 6 weeks or so, and it was sent out electronically without a problem. I have not installed it.

There are fairly regular emails on here about them (and similar emails saying that a purchase has been made and to 'click here to request a refund if it wasn't you), it's a phishing email - forward it to Apple : [email protected] , and then delete it.

  • Received email to update my account info

I was wondering if apple sent out a recent email wanting to update my credit info? Iwhen I opened the email I was sent to a direct credit card update without logging in with apple Id. I did not find who I was to contact concerning this... Thanks

First rule: NEVER NEVER NEVER use a link provided in an email to make changes to an account or to "update" your information. If you think the email may be legitimate, log in manually the way you normally would (ignoring whatever login link the email may have provided) and do what needs to be done.  If it was legit, no problem. If it was not legit, no problem. But if you use the provided link and it was not legitimate... well, you know what can happen.

It amazes me that in so many cases like this there are significant grammatical and spelling errors, such that no business of note would have failed to correct.

  • Validity of emails for billing info updates

How do I know constant email requests for billing update info are valid??

Because Apple will never ask for tose details via an email or loink in email, they may ask you to go to itunes or icloud to verify things but that is then your connection not theirs.
Beware of any emails that requesty personal information, as no reputable company would ask in that manner.

  • Has anyone received this request for info?

I received this request for info at 5:30 am this morning. It doesn't look legitimate.

I did not reply at all. Now and then, these bogus messages show up in Mail with the purpose of gaining access to accounts. I hope everyone will avoid this and all other spam.
Yeah, these emails have been around for many years. The old rule applies. If a company you deal with wats information, they will firstly address you by name and secondly tell you to go to the appropriate website, sign in and apply the information there. Never follow a link they give. Never reply to the email. Never bounce the email. Trash the email. They are very easy to spot.

Thanks for the help Niel.  I couldn't change the rescue email address (an address that no longer exists and is therefore useless) until I could correctly answer the security questions.  After numerous guesses, finally got them right.  Was then presented with the option to change the rescue email address. Guess the only other option was to have Apple Support make the change or reset my account info.  Have made note of the correct answers so this won't happen again.   Thanks for the fast response!!

Interesting suggestion, but it's not clear to me how I would do that if I'm not using an "(at) icloud.com" email address/account. I am having the same problem with changed invitations that come from an organizer who is using Google Apps. My email account is hosted at my ISP - it's not obvious to me how I can use iCloud to access that email account (and therefore the changed invitation). Suggestions?

  • Office365 User not receiving Meeting Request Email (but shows in Calendar)

    Hi,
We have one user (so far) who has successfully migrated from Exchange 2007 to 'Office365' but when you sent them an meeting request they do not get ANY email notification of it. No Spam, rules, junk email are affecting it. There are no delegates on the account.
I have removed the Office365 user license for them and then re-added it but made no difference.
If the user goes into the calendar they can actually 'see' the meeting and accept / decline it in there but we obviously need the user to get some email notification of it so they are aware of a meeting and now get a 'surprise' meeting they knew nothing about!
Other migrated users are able to receive email notifications of meeting requests without issue. There is just no trace of it for this user.

    Hi Peter,
As per your description above, I understand that one user cannot receive meeting requests, instead, the meetings are placed on their calendar directly.
I would like to confirm that whether he/she configured the email account into any Outlook clients, or actually we are talking about the web-based Outlook in Office 365 portal?
If this is an issue in the Outlook desktop client, please check if you have ticked the option of
Automatically accept meeting requests and remove canceled meetings
under FILE>Options>Calendar>Auto Accept/Decline... Try untick it and verify again.
If Outlook client is not involved here, I would suggest you post your question in the forum of Office 365 Community - email and calendar, where you can get more experienced responses:
    http://community.office365.com/en-us/f/158.aspx
The reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and other partners who read the forums regularly can either share their knowledge or learn from your interaction with us. Thank you for your understanding.
    Hope this helps.

There is nothing that you can do to get rid of the balance on your own. Contact iTunes Store Support and seek their assistance. I believe that they can reset your balance for you.

if it works over wifi but not 3g then likely your carrier blocks the port your mail provider require

It is asking me to provide billing information to verify that I'm the legitimate account holder.  Is this a scam?

Yes. Look at the address carefully - 'tunes' - and the link to enter your information will also be a non-Apple one. Don't follow any links; bin it.
