Receiving emails addressed to someone else

I recently switched my SIM card to a Blackberry I purchased overseas. I updated Blackberry (BIS) with the new handset's PIN and IMEI and all was well - I started receiving my emails. Then a day later I started receiving emails sent to someone I've never heard of to an email address I've never heard of. What could be wrong?? Appreciate any guidance!

You'll have to track down the original owner and ask them to contact THEIR old BIS provider ans ask that provider to remove the BlackBerry's PIN from their system.  BIS email is delivered by PIN and requires no special setup to be received - only to be sent from that email address.
Use the unwanted email to track the person down.

  • How do I report use of my email address by someone else (not my apple ID)

    Hi there,
    Someone has registered on apple, using my gmail address. This isn't my apple ID, but I don't want someone else using my email address for their account. Likewise, I don't want to end up receiving personal info or anything from this person as they use their account. How do I report this and get it stopped?
    Thank you
    Richard

    Thank you anyway. I did try finding an appropriate discussion group to place this question but nothing came close! Thanks again for your help. I'll try and see if Apple Chat for purchase options can put me through to support tomorrow. They're closed for now.

  • How do I un-link my email address from someone else's Apple ID?

    Recently someone in India bought an iPhone 5 and now every time he downloads an app to it, I get the receipt for it in my inbox. His apple ID is his gmail address, which is somewhat similar to mine, so I'm guessing he set my email address as his accidentally, and was apparently able to do so without verification (I find it hard to believe Apple would allow this, but apparently they do). I tried to log on to his Apple ID account to change the settings, but the recovery email address for the password reset is not set to my email address. So, can anyone help me figure out how to get his Apple ID unlinked from my email address? I would be grateful.
    I got on gmail ca 2004 and was able to get simply my first name @gmail, which seemed amazing at the time, but now that the whole Indian subcontinent is getting online in full force, with many people apparently not understanding that you can't just use any email address you want, and because my first name is a common name in Pakistan and India, people accidentally sign me up for mailing lists over there multiple times a day. I get resumes sent to me daily, responses for classified ads that I didn't post, and often the sites are set up such that I have to log on to unsubscribe, but I don't have the password so I can't...it's getting out of control!  How is it possible that Apple allows this kind of mistake as well by not requiring email verification?

    I made up the names edward and daniel, it's not actually anyone's email address, so no need for concern.
    In practice, I'm sure you're right that I would have fewer problems with a longer, more complex email address. But in principal, the problem remains. I could sign up for the Apple ID
    1234.NoOneWillEverUseThisAddress.5678@gmail
    and someone else could sign up for the Apple ID
    1234.NoOneWillEverUseThisAddress.5678+1@gmail
    and apple would have no problem with it, even though for all intents and purposes it's the same email address. So the problem is not just the ambiguity of my, to use Dahveed's words, overly simplistic and unsophisticated, email address:
    there is a fundamental flaw in the way Apple links email addresses to accounts that allows for this ambiguity.  If they followed the same conventions that gmail did, there would be no possibility of this problem.

  • Trying to set up AppleId but says personal email used by someone else?

    I was trying to help my son create an AppleId.  We used his personal email address (as Apple suggested) as his ID however received a message that it was already being used.  I did a password reset, he received an email addressed to someone else.  I'm not a strong user of Apple so I'm a little unsure on how to proceed.  I'm a little confused on how 2 people can utilize the same email address.  Looking for some guidance.

  • I keep receiving Reset email password emails. The most recent one was actually addressed to someone else... i.e. the name in the email not the email address. why is this happening??

    I keep receiving Reset email password emails.
    The most recent one was actually addressed to someone else... i.e. the name in the email not the email address. why is this happening?? I am not requesting to reset my icloud email password.

    That's probably because it's been sent out to a Bcc'd mailing list and that's the name on the main version. This is so that you don't see the other names.
    If it doesn't come from something @apple.com then it's spam. Even if it appears to it's probably spam. If you want to change your password go directly to http://appleid.apple.com - do not follow any links in the email (even if they appear to lead to that address.)

    Michael,
    The link for the word 'HERE' directs to a Evergreen School District page, which outside of Mobile Me and/or Aperture. Your school district network might be intercepting the request from Aperture and displaying the 'network authentication page' that you see, instead of the email. I would get with the IT department to see if they can help you get around this.
    Have you also tried using the 'Tell a Friend' feature from another network location, like starbucks or your home?
    Cheers,
    Owen.

    Is it possible that the person who sent the message to your phone sent it to your phone # instead?  Try sending a message to your phone via the email address and see if it shows up on the iPad.

    DataRequest^ request = e->Request;
    request->Data->Properties->Title = "Testing";
    request->Data->Properties->Description = "Email With Attachment";
    DataRequestDeferral^ deferral = request->GetDeferral();
    create_task(Windows::ApplicationModel::Package::Current->InstalledLocation->GetFileAsync("testing.pdf")).then([this, request, deferral](task<StorageFile^> getFileTask)

    request->Data->SetStorageItems(storageItems);
    deferral->Complete();
    catch (Exception^ ex)
    // Calling FailWithDisplayText() also calls Complete on the deferral.
    request->FailWithDisplayText(ex->Message);
    How can I send the attachment file to a specific email receiver without fill in the email address manually.

    Hi Tonberry,
    Based on my knowledge, you are using the correct way to share files in windows store app. The share app provides some frequent Contacts as the following image. But there is no options to set the recipients programmatically. If you want this feature, I would
    recommend you feature a request on
    UserVoice.

    You can create an email alias, but you can't change the address totally without creating a brand new iCloud account.

  • I have 3 email addresses with my ISP.  How do I set up my iPhone to receive emails addressed from any one of these addresses

    I have 3 email addresses with my ISP.  How do I set up my iPhone to receive emails addressed from any one of these addresses

    Even though they share the same incoming and outgoing server settings, each is a distinct account, so you just need to set up 3 accounts on your iPhone, one for each email address.
    Or, since these are all from the same ISP, do they have online account management tools to let you forward two of those to the one account you want to be the "master" account?  You still may want separate accounts on your iPhone though, as an account can only have one address associated with it for the "reply" field when responding to emails.

  • My email is has someone else's name as the recipient, but with my address

    I'm receiving email that has:
    "To: "someone else's name" "  (it shows my cousin's name, not mine)
    Hovering over the name shows my correct email address.
    My email acct preference has my name correct in the "Full Name"
    This just started happening on it's own, I changed nothing.
    It's all emails, even from sources I've been receivig eemails from for a long time.
    Any ideas?

    Great to hear, thanks!
