Receiving HDCP error on my iMac

I downloaded the latest episode of the Walking Dead tonight and recieved an HDCP error when i tried to watch on my iMac.  I purchased the HD version of the season and have been able to watch all the previous episodes on my iMac.  I also verified i cannot watch anything HD through my iTunes on my iMac.

Got a solution in another similar Discussion and it worked for many people so you can try your Luck and see if it works for you as well.
Try resetting your iMac SMC : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964
Resetting the SMC for Mac Pro, Intel-based iMac, Intel-based Mac mini, or Intel-based Xserve
Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord.
Wait fifteen seconds.
Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: For Intel-based Xserve computers that are not responding, you can shut down locally, or by using remote commands, or by pressing and holding the power button for five seconds.
The solution was provided in the Discussion in below link.

  • All of a sudden I'm getting the hdcp error on my iMac

yeh on my imac not an external display

What hardware do you have installed?
All of it please.. and roles and function of each item.
ISP.. modem??.. main router?? .. AE of some sort?? ..
Have you reboot all of this and start up in correct order.. exactly as pictured above in exactly the sequence.. left to right. 2min between each.
If you installed Yosemite on your MBP .. welcome to the club.. networking is pathetic.
Reset the PRAM and whatever else.. wireless.. can be a total pain on Yosemite.

  • HDCP error messages

I just started receiving HDCP error messages regularly for content that up until now had played fine.  I have HDMI 1.4 cables and a Samsung LCD which the Apple TV 2 is connected to. The content is coming off of an iMac running 10.6.7 and iTunes 10.3.1 (55) using Airplay. Both devices connect to my home network wirelessly via an Airport Extreme with 802.11n.
This AppleTV 2 experience has been horrible. It's been the hardware version of MobileMe.

I note all the things you have done, but did you try another cable. If rebooting the Apple TV temporarily resolves the issue, then you may indeed have a faulty HDMI card either on the Apple TV or the TV but it's far more likely to be a conflict caused by switching or cabling problem.
I'm not at all swayed by the wiki article, indeed I haven't even looked at it, wiki articles are written by ordinary people who are inclined to get things wrong in much the same way as you and I are. If you are happy in the thought that you have an HDMI 1.4 cable then that's all that matters, however you are the victim of a marketing ploy and perhaps you should be aware that the HDMI standards have actually forbidden cables to be marketed that way since 2008.
HDMI 1.4 is an HDMI standard, it does have more features than the standards that preceded it, but it doesn't require a different cable than 1.3 or indeed 1.2 did. The two categories of cable have the same number of connectors and the only difference is the bandwidth they are capable of communicating between devices (75 MHz for cat 1 and 340 Mhz for cat 2). HDMI cables do now have the option of carrying ethernet, but the range of cables has simply been extended to cat 1 and cat 2 with or without ethernet.
Of the other issues, I agree that listings of content in large libraries is poor and a definite step backwards from the previous model. The issue with the network time server though suggests the problem is with your network or its settings not the Apple TV. Scrubbing through a movie will entirely depend on how much of the movie has downloaded to the Apple TV, so yes these features may not work well for the first few moments after you start a download, but they will be significantly exaggerated if you have a problem with your network.

  • How do I fix a HDCP error?

How do I fix a HDCP error on my IMAC? Im getting a error when attempting to view Netflix.

To add to the other responses, I had a situation where even with an hdcp compliant display I got errors.  It was all due to a cheap cable which I replaced with an Extron one, problem solved,

Click on the hard drive on the desktop, then File > Get Info. What does it say about permissions?  If this is just a data drive you may want to consider "ignore ownership on this volume".
Otherwise I can only say I have not been reading good things about Seagate drives recently.  I have some of their rock-solid ones from about 10 years ago (still running well), but now...?

  • I'm receiving an error message that reads "The backup disk image '/Volumes/Data/my name's iMAC.sparesebundle" is already in use.  The time capsule is not backing up any files.

I'm receiving this error message about my Time Capsule:
"The backup disk image '/Volumes/Data/my name's iMAC.sparesebundle" is already in use.  The time capsule is not backing up any files.

    1. Open the Sharing preference pane and check that the computer name hasn't changed without your knowledge. For example, if the name was "X's iMac," it might now be "X's iMac (2)". In that case, restore the original name. You may have to click the lock icon in the lower left corner of the preference pane to unlock the settings. Test. If there's no improvement, or if the name had not been changed, continue.
    2. If you're backing up to a Time Capsule, or an AirDisk attached to a 2013 or later model AirPort Extreme base station, restart it in either of the following ways:
☞ Disconnect and reconnect the power adapter.
☞ Select the device in the AirPort Utility application and then select
              Base Station ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.
If AirPort Utility notifies you of a firmware update, install it.

  • Hdcp error on i Mac?

I suddenly get a message of hdcp error when trying to watch films. There used to be no problem watching these films previously. What is the issue?

I also started getting this error this week.  I have a 27" iMac that's my home media server, and stream movies to my Apple TV, another iMac in the Kitchen, and to my iPad when exercising.
I was attempting to watch a new movie purchase a couple of days ago, and the Apple TV just gave me the spinning circle, but never started the movie.  So, I went to my Office 27" iMac to see what was wrong, and discovered I couldn't play it there, either on my external 27" Thunderbolt display, or on the built-in 27" display.  iTunes was giving me the HDCP error box on a gray space in the iTunes window.
I resolved the issue that evening by rebooting the Apple TV, which then allowed the movie to stream fine from the 27" Office iMac.  After watching the movie, later that evening I tried it again on the 27" iMac, and the movie was playing fine, without the HDCP error message.  Odd, but it was working.
I downloaded another movie last night, and tried to play it on the 27" Office iMac immediately, and again got the HDCP error.  This time I resolved it by going to the Kitchen 21" iMac and streaming the movie to there.  It played fine in the Kitchen, and after that test, it played fine again on the 27" Office iMac source computer.  Again, odd, but it's working again.
I contacted AppleCare while I was testing things this morning, and they suggested the Disk Utility/Repair Disk option, which I ran.  It didn't find any errors, but it's a painless thing to try, and with the SSD it went really fast.
I'm running the latest build of Yosemite (10.10.2/build 14C109) on my Macs, and iTunes 12.1.0.50 on my Macs.  I also ran the 10.10.2 Combo update this morning, just in case it's a corrupted driver issue.  I've found in the past that incremental/delta updates can lead to a build-up of damaged/corrupted files over time, so running the combo replaces everything that doesn't match the latest build.  Hopefully, today's combo update and permissions repair will resolve this issue for me for now.

  • Why do I keep receiving the error message: disk failed image corrupt

I am trying to upgrade my version of Firefox from 2.0.0.2 (downloaded Nov. 2007) to the new version 3.6.12. on my IMac desktop computer.
When I download the file I receive a white and grey icon that says Firefox 3.6.12.dmg. When I click on this icon I receive the error message:
    mounting disk failed; image corrupt.

  • HT4428 Fabricated HDCP error??

Why am I suddenly receiving an HDCP error after owning this product for nearly 3 years? I've had the same tv and HDMI for the last year with no problems. The "sleep" fix isn't fixing it. Please solve this issue so things "just work" again as you advertise. I have an angry toddler who can't watch her favorite movies because we only own them on iTunes.
Also, it seems odd that every time a new product is on the horizon, the old one has issues.

Please read all the troubleshooting steps in the article from which this thread was created and try them.
FYI, you are not addressing Apple here, we are all users like yourself.

  • 55SL412U + VSX-1019AH HDCP error

I have a 55SL412U connected via HDMI 1.3 to a Pioneer VSX-1019AH receiver. If I turn on the receiver before the TV, about 98% of the time the receiver will show "HDCP error" and then turn off a few seconds later. If I turn the TV on first, and wait a few seconds, it works fine.
This TV replaced a Sharp Aquos that was hooked up the exact same way (same cable, and nothing else has changed), and that TV worked fine.
Any ideas what is causing this, or how I can avoid it?  It wouldn't be such a big problem if 1) the TV was more reliable while using a Logitech Harmony remote, and 2) it had discrete IR codes.
      1) On both the Logitech and another programmable remote, I have to point the remotes directly at the TV and press power several times before the TV finally registers it. The OEM remote works fine, and at much wider angles.
      2) Because I can only program "power toggle" and not separate on/off, and due to the reliability issues, it makes it very difficult to use the harmony to turn things on in the right order. I often end up just using the OEM remote for power and then using the harmony to control it afterwards.
It's kind of a crazy situation for a new TV to be in, certainly not what I'd expect from a piece of electronics bought in 2011.
    Any advice?

If I turn on just the receiver, it works fine, and if I use a source that is playing audio, the audio comes through fine.
If I turn on the TV at any point after the receiver is on (up to a couple of minutes, I've never specifically waited longer than that), the receiver shows "HDCP error" and then turns off a few seconds later.

  • When opening the Coloursync utility and pressing the verify button, I received an error message stating that the Tag 'cprt':Text tag has an incorrect length which could not be fixed as the file is locked. Does anyone know how to rectify this?

When opening the Coloursync utility and pressing the verify button, I received an error message (copy below) stating that the Tag 'cprt':Text tag has an incorrect length which could not be fixed as the file is locked. Does anyone know how to rectify this?
    Checking 25 profiles...
    /Library/ColorSync/Profiles/Displays/iMac-00000610-0000-9C6C-0000-000004271B00.i cc
Tag 'cprt': Text tag has an incorrect length.
The file is locked. Could not be fixed.

    Hi guys,
I followed the steps to unlock the .icc file in the "getinfo" screen then went on clicking repair in colorsync utility.
This is the message i got:
    Searching for profiles...
    Checking 17 profiles...
    /Library/ColorSync/Profiles/Displays/Color LCD-00000610-0000-9CF3-0000-000004273CC0.icc
Tag 'cprt': Text tag has an incorrect length. Fixed.
Repair done - 1 profiles fixed.
However, when i hit verify again it shows up like this:
    Searching for profiles...
    Checking 17 profiles...
    /Library/ColorSync/Profiles/Displays/Color LCD-00000610-0000-9CF3-0000-000004273CC0.icc
Tag 'cprt': Text tag has an incorrect length.
Verify done - found 1 bad profile.
... and it keeps like this sine die.
when i open the .icc file it shows up like this:
3     'cprt'     'text'     35     Copyright ASCII Text String
New to mac so I really don't know what to do.
I didn't get this message so far. What i did before getting this message was to open a jpeg file. I wanted to edit it so when i did right click on the file i went to open with, and colorsync came as an option; so i chose it.
Then this message started comming up.
Is there anything i can do?
    Thabks for the support.

  • During Adobe Flash 11 install, I received the error "cannot contact reliable source." Help?!

While streaming videos on YouTube and Hulu, I noticed a signifant amount of lag and buffering.  In the past I've resolved this issues by updating my Flash player (even though I typically am on the newest version).  Today I tried to install a Adobe Flash 11 and I received the error, "Cannot contact reliable source" amongst a few other errors (I cannot recall what they said).  I went to the troubleshooting section, uninstalled my current Adobe Flash, and tried to download version 11.  I keep getting the aforementioned errror.  Now rather than a lag time and buffer issue, I cannot watch any videos at all since my Flash player was uninstalled and I cannot download the new version.  I'm currently on a relatively new iMac with OS X version 10.8.4.  I don't think there is problem with my actual computer.  Can anyone help?
PS: I have an unhealthy affinity for catching up on terrible TV shows on Sundays so I'm saddened by my inability to watch Hulu Plus.

    Try this installer: http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/mac/install_flash_playe r_11_osx.dmg
