Receiving Mail Only from Addresses I Specify

Is there any simple way to set up Mail to send all messages to the junk folder except ones from particular addresses I put on a list to let through?
Sorry if this has been answered, but I couldn't find it by searching…
Thanks.

Wouldn't Mail > Preferences > Rules > Add Rule > and then select the following pulldowns: if any of the following are conditions met: Sender not in my address book then move message to mailbox junk, do what you want? Or as an additional second condition, use previous recipients?
If you are going to maintain a stand-alone list, you will probably have to do something like: if Account {acc'tName} then Run Applescript {file/path/to/Applescript}, then move message to mailbox junk where the Applescript parses the mail message's From line and compares it against the stand-alone list.
(if this solves your problem, or is actually helpful towards arriving at a solution to your problem, please consider marking this reply as "helpful" or "solved" in order to award points. This would be in addition to (if applicable) marking this question as "answered")

  • Printing Mailing Labels from Address Book

Stupid question, but one that is driving me crazy.
How do you print a sheet of mailing labels from Address Book but when the entire sheet of labels is the SAME label?
I can print labels successfully in address book, can select the label type and number, etc.
However, when I select a single contact, I can't find a way to print up an entire sheet of labels (e.g. 14) of all the same contact - it only prints one label of the single contact.
Please help! I know it must be a simple fix but can't find it anywhere to select as an option.

OK, weird that this morning (one day after you posted this question) I had the same question. I just want to print some return address labels for my own company. While I haven't been able to find a software based way to do it, I did think up a workable (if a bit ridiculous) hack. Copy the address you want to fill the sheet of labels with however many times there are labels on the sheet and select those however many copies and click print! I created 30 copies of my own company's address in Address Book, selected them, and printed a sheet of labels without problem. A bit dumb, but it works!
    Hope that helps.

  • Print Mailing Labels from Address Book

After following the convoluted rules for Address Book, I finally got my Leopard computer to print Mailing Labels with proper relationships displayed. I upgraded to Snow Leopard and now this is all broken again.
I read http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3952 which describes the changes made to Snow Leopard, however for anyone who already put in a lot of work to get labels working correctly for Leopard (or Tiger), this is a major set back.
Not only that, the Snow Leopard method for printing labels breaks so many other uses of Address Book. I will name a few:
    iPhone:
I sync my address book with my iPhone. My buddy calls, now instead of "Bob Smith" displayed on my iPhone, I will see "Bob & Jean Smith" even though the call is from Bob's cell phone....all because I followed the new 10.6 rules to get proper labels printed by 'hacking' the first name field and changing "Bob" to "Bob & Jean".
    Mail:
When I receive and email from Bob, instead of it saying "Bob Smith <[email protected]>" it will display: "Bob & Jean Smith <[email protected]>"
I'm sure there are other examples of how this change will break other apps.
    Solution:
Apple should add a Print option to Address Book with a backwards compatibility checkbox that will include relationships with matching addresses to support 10.4 - 10.5.8 address book printing usage.
If you agree that Apple should add this Print option to add back support for relationship printing, add your voice to this thread, as well as post a bug report to Apple with similar contents.

A vote here for a checkbox in preferences to "include related names," allowing for 10.5 style behavior.

  • Mail's from address not working as expected

I have a friend who has an unusual email issue that has me stumped.
He has two accounts set up in Mail, one with his isp pop account like [email protected], and another that is a pop account with his domain like [email protected]
He has [email protected] set as the default (first in the accounts preferences, but when he sends email from this account (verified in the "account drop down on every new email he composes), the reply to, and all the header info makes the email look as if it is coming from [email protected]
I have checked several times, and both of the accounts are set up with the correct and appropriate pop settings (description, mail address, full name, mail server and username and password.
Because of how his isp works, we must use their smtp server to send email from BOTH accounts. But, I do not think that this should change his from and reply to email data as it goes out. He claims it worked as expected until a few months ago.
I cannot think of any troubleshooting path for this issue. Any suggestions on what might be going on?

And what version of Mac OS X is your friend running? Your profile says Mac OS X 10.4.8, but you posted in the Mac OS X v10.3 & earlier forum...
What does Mail show in the relevant headers of the copy of the messages that Mail puts in Sent after sending them?
What you see in Sent is what Mail sends to the outgoing (SMTP) server. If the message gets changed afterwards, some agent other than Mail (probably the outgoing server) is doing it...
Gmail’s outgoing server, for example, does this. In order to be able to use Gmail’s SMTP server with another address, you must first enable that address in Gmail's Settings > Accounts page, and let Gmail validate it by verifying that you do indeed own it. If you don’t do this, even though Mail will correctly send the message from the address you specify, Gmail’s SMTP server will silently change it to the address associated with the Gmail account that corresponds to the username specified during SMTP authentication, instead of refusing to send the message as other SMTP servers would do in those circumstances.

  • How to print editable mailing labels from Address Book?

I am once again working on Holiday Mailing Labels (450 pple) and needing to export editable mailing labels from a smart group in my Address Book.  but I can only print out non-editable pdf labels.  Is there a way around this?  Editable labels are vital!! Can I export my contacts to a file that can be imported into Microsoft Word Labels Mail Merge?

I have the same problem. After much searching for easy solutions, I just added a user account on my mac, and use the address book/contacts for the end of year mailings. This meant copying, manually, a lot of contacts! At the same time as they were entered the edits were made. I can make edits ongoing within these lists without changing the contacts in my personal user account. There oughta be a better way!!!

  • Mailbox to receive emails only from certain mail addresses with organisation

    Hi
We are using exchange 2010 in our organisation.  A user has requested to only receive emails from certain users within the organisation.  And if any other users try to email then the email is bounced back.  So in a nut shell only certaion
individuals can email him with the organisation.
Is there a cmdlet shell that can be used?  Or is there anything that can be done in Exchange Console.

    Hi,
You can create a transport rule to achieve this goal. Here is an example for your reference.
Note: 'reject' and '5.7.10' are custom rejection message and enhanced status code. You can change them to what you need.
    Hope it helps.

  • Configure postfix to accept inbound mail only from Google

I like to host my own email on a Mac Mini running OS X Server.  I’ve also looked for solutions that allow filtering out SPAM before the mail gets sent to my server.  For many years I used Postini’s spam filtering service to clean incoming email before Postini forwarded the mail on to my server.  I now use Google mail, part of Google Apps service to remove spam and to archive all the mail.
The approach of letting Google clean emal before sending the mail on to my OS X Server uses two domains, one a “public” domain for incoming email and another a “private” domain used only for  forwarding the filtered email to OS X server.
All went well with the defult Postfix configuration that came with OS X Server for a few months, then SPAM started creeping into my “private” domain as various spammers discovered my private email address and started sending mail directly to the Mac Mini, bypassing Google.
Whenever I had spare time I would search the web looking for how to configure Postfix on OS X server so that email from Google and my other machines would be accepted and all other email would be blocked.  There were lots of write-ups on how to relay outgoing email to Google, but I couldn’t find straightforward configuration instructions for configuring Postfix to only allow incoming email forwarded by Google or coming from my machines and block all other sources.
With a Google apps account you get telephone support so I gave Google a call and within a few rings got a very pleasant guy who listened to what I wanted to do and didn’t have the configuration setup, but did offer to send me a document showing the blocks of IP addresses used by Google for sending email.
I’ve posted several requests for help doing this type of configuration and never received responses that made sense.  So in the interest of helping anyone else that wants to configure Postfix to accept connections from a set of specific IP addresses and refuse connections from all other connections for inbound email, here is what will get you going:
Use your favorite text editor to edit the Postfix configuration file (I use BBEDIT) but use whatever you like.
On the OS X Server open this file:
    /Library/Server/Mail/Config/postfix/main.cf
Immediately do a “save as…” to make a backup copy with a different name, such as …mail.df.back1 in the same directory so you can revert to the backup if necessary.
substitute your domain names in the following commands:
public.com   -  change to your publicly advertised  routable domain
hidden.com  -  change to your OS X Server  routable domain
lan.com - change to your OS X Server lan domain, should be registered to make things clean and shouldn’t be .local
10.6.18.0/24 - change to your LAN subnet
host - change to your host name
Your Postfix configuration file should contain these commands (and probably more).  Each situation varies so do what you have to for your situation….
Have Postfix add your public domain name in the email header
    myorigin = public.com
    mydomain_fallback = localhost
    message_size_limit = 41943040
    biff = no
aaa.bbb.ccc.ddn - Your publicly routable IP addresses provided by your ISP
Let Postfix know your LAN network, the routable addresses you have from your ISP, and the Google networks where the Google email servers live.  Get the latest list of Google networks hosting email at this address: https://support.google.com/a/answer/3070269

Any suggestions to make this better or more efficient welcomed!

After a few telnet tests I can answer my own question: It makes an open relay server to spammers! But to solve the former issue with the connection refuse, I had to switch to virtual hosting in the advanced tab of the mail service and add my own domains.

  • Sending mail: only old addresses prompted (not in 'Prev. Recipients')

Often, not always, after in Address Book I update an email address in sets of addresses I send mail to; and even if I delete from 'Previous Recipients' the shorthand name I use, when I go to add that set's name to an email, it only prompts the old version of the set.
Since there are typically 10 or so email addresses, I would love to know how to get Mail to recognize the updates I make in my A.B. sets, instead of editing the prompted old version every time!
I usually don't bother creating groups of AB cards--typically I put several addresses into a single A.B. card and give it a short name.

  • Problems with pages and mail merging from Address Book

hey guys. I have just created an invitation using one of the templates in Pages. this template is for four postcard size invites on one sheet of A4. i want to merge addresses from my address book. i can do the merge except that rather than four different contacts on each page i end up with four of the same on each page before it moves on the next contact on the next page. what i want to do is for it to merge one address per postcard. in Word i would put 'next' as the last field in the merge fields but i cant find a similar command in Pages. please can some advice?

I don't use Address Book for mail merging, but I tested this on a four page document and it worked for that so maybe it will work for your postcards. First, do your merge with full size pages and one address per page. Then in the print menu select Layout (drop down from Copies and Pages) and set it for 4 per Page (any direction you wish). That should print four different addresses on one sheet.

  • Having problems using mail merge from address book to word for labels

I've downloaded and opened avery labels to word and would now like to merge an address book from my mac.
When I get to the Mail Merge Manager and go to 'get list', my address book is not accessible.
I'm sure there's a simple way to do this but have not been successful googling or using the help options on both
    pages and address book.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

    Hi shaun
Looks like Pages '08 works the same as the previous version. You can't get data from multiple cards in one document. Try using Address Book's native label printing feature.
    Good luck!

    Hi
I am installing a new boot drive into my MacPro.  When I do this, I only want to copy over initially Mail and iTunes as previously backed up in Time Machine.
Is there an simple way to do this without a complete copy of my last Lion install going on the new drive?
    Thanks in advance.

The music sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The only exception is itunes purchases.
Copy everything from your backup copy of your computer.

  • Trouble Sending Mail only from MacBook Pro

I've got a MacPro and a MacBook Pro. The MacPro is connected via ethernet while the MacBook Pro is connected to the same network via WiFi. I can always connect to the internet on the laptop and also receive incoming mail, but cannot send mail using the Mail app on the laptop. No problems sending from the MacPro. Any ideas about what might be going on?

... one other piece of info - when I connect to the same home network with my iPhone, I can both receive and send emails on the same email account.

  • Receive emails only from anti spam server

iPlanet Messaging Server 5.2 Patch 2 (built Jul 14 2004)
    libimta.so 5.2 Patch 2 (built 19:30:12, Jul 14 2004)
I have a Symantec Security Email which is also an anti spam server..all incoming email from outside are supposed to go to this server first before reaching messaging server..the problem is some of the spam emails bypass the anti spam server
My question is could I configure messaging server to only accept emails from the anti spam server and reject email that bypass the server ?
    Thank you

I have the same problem as spams bypass our anti-spam firewall and send to our email server directly.
To solve this trouble, I want to edit entries in the mapping table.
Considering we also have MS Outlook users, would the following mapping tables work for us?
    PORT_ACCESS
! 10.100.100.100 is our anti-spam firewall before the mail server
! this is to enable mails from the anti-spam firewall to get through
    TCP|*|25|10.100.100.100|* $Y
!This is to enable normal MS Outlook users to send emails from port 25
    TCP|*|25|127.0.0.1|* $Y
!This is too, to enable normal MS Outlook users to send emails from port 25
! 10.100.100.200 is our mail server, would this entry be necessary?
    TCP|*|25|10.100.100.200|* $Y
! This is to reject other connections to the mail server's port 25
    TCP|*|25|*|* $NInternet$ access$ not$ permitted
Would it work for my goal?
    Thanks.
    It is iMS5.2.

  • Mail merge From address

Is anyway to set mail merge with shared mailboxes as sender.
    SAH

    Hi,
Mail Merge only sends email from the default account in your Outlook. The only way I know is to set the shared mailbox as an additional mailbox in the same Outlook profile, and then set the additional mailbox as the default account.
