Receiving message that serial number is invalid

My computer crashed and I'm trying to reinstall CS6 Creative Suite Master collection on a new computer and when I type in the serial number I'm receiving a message that the serial number is invalid.  Could this error be because it is still authorized for the old computer?

How can you contact support. I'm also having same problem, but cannot reach them. Terrible. Get no reaction back from chat and do not have and/or could not find a phone number. Pls advise. Already trying to get things running here from 15th feb 2015. Making me crazy

    I tried this before and was just re directed here.  I've been using Elements for several years with no problem.  A registered legal copy.  I had to get a new computer due to a storm and now when I try to re-install Elements, I get a message that the serial number is not valid.  Any suggestions.  I did try live chat and he sent me here.

    The problem is that the authentication servers for CS2/PSE 4 were shut down a couple of years ago. It's not anything you're doing. For a while adobe offered a download of a special version with a serial number that didn't need authentication, but that isn't available anymore.
    I think your best bet would be to post here:

    and ask if adobe can do anything for you.

    Bob's right, though PM7.0.2 may have had a newer version of Distiller.  It's not an upgrade, but a full copy in its own right.

    IIRC, the update to PM7.0.1a was to ensure PM7 worker correctly with Distiller 6.
    The update is free and does not require a licence number for installation only that a valid copy of PM7.0.1 is present on your computer.
    (Note the date of the update: 2004.)

    Welcome to Adobe Forum,
    If the upgrade serial number is of Retail version & the previous qualifying serial number is of volume, then it is an incorrect upgrade path.
    You will need to contact Adobe Support http://adobe.ly/yxj0t6 & get approval for re-serialization only when you have valid proof of purchase as per company guide lines. The discretion to re-serialize depends on the proof of purchase & concerned Team for approval.

    Hi,
    I need help with installing CS6 to a new computer. I have owned PS since CS and have upgraded through all of the versions. Do I have to download the old versions too now? I don't remember doing that on my new desktop last year. When I try to activate with the serial number it says the number is valid but the product is not found. I have tried my previous version numbers but they are invalid. There is a drop down to choose what product I am trying to activate but CS6 is not even listed. CS6 Extended is but that is not what I have. Can anyone help me with this?

    you purchased cs6, not as an upgrade. 
    if that's correct, you do not need any previous versions installed and you should not be prompted for any previous version's serial number.
    what exact product did you purchase and what product did you download?

    When I try to reinstall CS6 Design and Web Prem i get message that my serial number (Design and Web Prem <serial number removed>) is not valid? Why???? I have it installed now on just one computer only. It was installed also on a computer and a laptop. The laptop crashed and couldn't restart anymore. I had to through it away. After that I installed on another computer at a place where I work sometimes with photoshop. Then suddenly I got message at my computer home that the serialnumber is invalid. I installed for the time an try out version, and now I have deleted the version that I had on the computer but when i want to reinstall my legal bought version with the serial number that i mention there, I get again the message that my serial number is invalid. But now it is only installed on 1 other computer. If I check the sites, I have to contact Adobe but I don't know how. The link does not work and I cannot find any phonenumber.!!

    First be sure login and password are OK. Sometimes the address starts wit "http://..." and sometime starts with "ftp://...". Try both normal FTP access and Scure FTP access (SFTP). At the end, contact the site's provider.

    OK, you're doing it correctly then.
    Some users try reading it from the System Info under the Help menu inside Photoshop, and that's when they end up with a truncated serial number.
