Receiving messages from Apple ID, rather than iMessage?

I'm having a little bit of an issue with only one of my contacts.
I was texting with her yesterday, and everything seemed normal. She texted me today, but the message came from her Apple ID, rather than her actual phone number. She went into settings, and everything seems to be set the way that it normally has been. Her number is checked for starting new messages, and whatnot. Not sure whether it was on my end or hers, I did he same thing; my number is checked as well. We've both restarted our phones, and that didn't seem to fix anything. She managed to do something on her end, and I was getting messages from her cell number, but it was sending it as a regular text message, rather than an iMessage. She tinkered with it more, then I received one message from her on her actual cell number as an iMessage, but the second message she sent when directly back to the conversation that had started with her Apple ID.
I think it's irritating me more than her, because she has one single conversation, but I've got at least two started up with her. If I send a message to the original conversation I had going, all of her responses come from the new conversation started with the Apple ID. Is there any way to fix this, or do I just need to add her Apple ID to her existing contact? I've never had any issues like this before, so it's a bit frustrating, needless to say.

Although following all the troubleshooting steps thoroughly will help pinpoint the issue, you might find this section of use in your particular instance:
If you still can't send or receive an iMessage, follow these steps
Make sure that the contact trying to message you isn't blocked in Settings > Messages > Blocked.
Make sure that the contact you're trying to send a message to is registered with iMessage.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and recreate the contact in the Contacts app. Create a new message to the newly created contact and try again.
Back up and restore your device as new.

    Recipients of my iMessages have reported that it has switched from being from my name/number to being from my email account. I have not changed any settings and the iphone 5 is up to date with all updates and has been restarted several times. I also went into iMessage settings and send&receive settings and tried a few things (including turning iMessage on and off, signing in and out of my account, etc), to no avail.     There are a few steps you can try to resolve this. First, turn iMessage off completely in Settings>Messages, and restart your device by fully powering it down, then power it back up. Once complete, turn iMessaging back on and see what happens. Again turn iMessage off, restart device, and turn iMessage back on. You'd be surprised what that can fix.
    Also, if you have both your phone number AND the apple ID selected in send/receive in settings>messages, and you aren't connected to data at that moment, the iMessage from whoever is messaging you will be sent to the Apple ID only, hence why the conversation will begin using the email. This is something that is pretty common, and if you don't have a data plan, or if you turn your data off often, this will continue to happen.
    Hopefully my first step will refresh the issue, resolving it!

  • Can not receive emails from any accounts rather than Rogers(my ISP)

    I have OCS10g installed on RHEL_AS4. Currently I got problem to receive and send emails both inbound and outbound.
    When I send e-mail by either Oracle Web Access Client or Oracle Mail. It went smooth through the sending page. Unfortunately I can not get the e-mails neither from inbound or outbound domains, except [email protected]. Rogers is my current ISP and I am using the TZO dynamicIP service for the OCS server.
    The configuration for smtp_inbound_server are as following. Has anyone known the solution of my problem?

    When I check the logfile, I found the error messages like this :

    I switched to a non iphone over two months ago and ever since then I cannot receive messages from iphone users sending in imessage format. They have to turn imessage on and off to be able to text me. This has been extremely inconvenient since I need to receive these messages for work in addition to my personal life. I have tried multiple suggestions I've read about, still nothing works. It's like this is apple's way of keeping customers using their iphone instead of switching for fear of not receiving messages. They won't really fix it either when we all know technology is advanced enough to fix this. HELP.

  • Nano ver 6 doesn't show up even after reinstalling iTunes which had to be done because of problems with all Apple devices after trying to update iTunes via a message from Apple.

    Nano ver 5/6 doesn't show up in iTunes even after having to reinstall iTunes because of problems with trying to update iTunes after receiving message from Apple that an update was available.  Other Apple products are showing up.

    Not being sent as email - shown as being sent from an email address because you have selected to start new iMessage conversations from your Apple ID email address on your iPhone.
    When registering an iPhone with iMessage, the phone number along with your Apple ID email address is registered with it.
    Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > Start New Conversations From - select your iPhone's phone number.

    I have an iPhone 5s and a MacBook Pro. Ever since I updated my computer software to Yosemite, it linked my Apple ID with my phone number and I am not receiving messages from iMessage users on my phone, but rather to my computer. I don't like to use iMessage so I keep it off and would like to receive all messages as SMS texts. I have already tried changing my Apple ID password, logging off of my Apple ID in iMessage on my phone and turning it off, and changing settings on messages on my computer. Nothing is working. Either the messages continue to go to my computer or the messages trying to be sent say they cannot be sent.
    After spending 30 + minutes waiting for technical support, the woman helping me (who did not give me her name) told me I should just turn on iMessage. After explaining that I don't like having iMessage on and asking why it worked for at least a year up until this point she said "things change and sometimes we don't know why things do what they do". She asked me about various other things on my phone such as bluetooth and told me to turn on and off airplane mode and the call disconnected. I have not been contacted since, even though she has my phone number.
    I am hoping for some help and also hoping people don't get the type of service I received tonight.

    I think you can solve your problems by removing your AppleID email address from BOTH the Messages setting on your iPhone and the iMessages settings on your Mac.
    On iPhone:
    Settings > Messages > iMessage > Dissabled
    Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > touch the "(i)" < touch "Remove This Email"
    On Mac:
    Open "Messages" application
    Click "Messages menu > Preferences
    Click "Accounts"
    Select your AppleID account
    Under the "You can be reached for messages at" settings, uncheck your AppleID email address and your phone number
    Then uncheck the "Enable this account" setting
    And lastly, ask all of your friends with iPhones to delete all iMessage conversations (blue bubbles) in their entirety.
    To test, send a friend a new text using their phone number (not their email address) and watch the color of the bubble.  If it's green then you are using SMS.

    Lets take first issue first: Apple does not charge a customer to 'keep' iPad access. That does not happen at apple. If you were billed and charged that amount of money from someone you were speaking to over the phone, you were not talking with Apple support. If you need to speak with apple support you are free to call them at 800MYAPPLE and they will talk to you for no more money than 19.00/ support event.

    I recently moved back to Australia for school from Canada and signed up for the new iphone 6 plus. After using icloud to save and backup from my previous iphone 4s, all of the apps eventually worked....except for whatsapp. After looking through my phone and numerous chat forums, it appears that my imessage and facetime are stuck in, "waiting for activation".....is anyone else having problems with this?
    I am curious as I am unable to receive the whatsapp code to re-activate my application. This brings me to my second question, is this an iphone/apple problem or a whatsapp third party problem?
    I've had friends send imessages to me and they appear to coming through. I have already rebooted and restarted my phone numerous time. A strong connection to wifi and data stream have all come in loud and clear.
    I have tried all of the directions that were posted and still have no whatsapp and imessage still inconsistent.

    I recently rented a movie using Apple TV and it said it was going to take 7-14 hours to download so I let it run. I also received a message from apple telling me that there was a request for this movie and they took the funds. But when I tried to find it on my purchases it was not there and when I went back to that movie it was asking me to purchase it again is this common and how do I get it back.

    Not sure what happend there. But ATV only streams, no HD so if you leave it too long, the whole download gets lost.
