Receiving Spam Text Msgs

Every once in a while I would get one SMS message from an unknown number which was spam. Today, for the last 4-5 hrs, I've been receiving numerous spam SMS msgs from 2 area codes in the Atlanta, GA area that are 3 different mobile numbers, and some of which are from the same repeating mobile number. Is there a way to block any spam text messages? I've just been deleting them, but didn't know if you can filter or block SMS msgs like you can with emails. I have a Blackberry Curve 8520 through AT&T. Thanks!

Tap photo received in text msg - black screen w "loading"?

I have a new iPhone 5 - Verizon - When I tap a photo received in a text msg, I get a black screen with a never-ending "loading". I am able to save the photo to my camera role, even as it continues "loading". I cannot even open photos I have included in an outgoing text - never had this problem w iPhone 4 - help?

Try quitting the Messages app and then reset your phone.
Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it wiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

TS4268 i have the iphone 5. I updated to iOS 7 but I had this problem before I updated the software, too. I can send MMS (text messages with pictures) but I cannot receive them. I can receive reg text msgs. Just not pics. Any ideas?

You cannot update iPhone 4 to IOS 8.1.2, the highest you can update is IOS 7.1.2.
Unless you've iPhone 4S (looks similar to iPhone 4)

Help! Can't receive calls/text msg. Why?

I Have an iPhone and my friend has an galaxy phone. Different provider. Verizon and tmobile. for some odd reason, we both can't receive any of each other's text or calls. We both have no blocks on our accounts. And when she calls me, it's says " Verizon restriction" something. I even called Verizon customer service to double check if I had any blocks on my account and they said no. and it's only with her number. I can't text everybody else and call with no issues. What might this be? Help Please!

Any number of things could have caused the phone to do this. If after the reset you are experiencing additional problems, the next step in the troubleshooting process is a restore from a backup. Make sure you have one before you start the restore process. If that does not improve things, then you may have to restore as a new device. Remember, restoring as a new device will delete all data off the phone. Make sure all of your pictures are imported to the computer and all other data is synced to supported applications on the computer before restoring as new. I can't receive text msgs from Iphone users-what gives?

Hi, I have had this issue for weeks. I have been trying to find a solution through t-mobile but so far I still can't receive text messages from Iphone users. It is across the board. I know about 5 people with Iphones and I can't get text messages from any of them. Does anyone know why? By the way, they all can receive my text msgs, no problem, but I can't receive theirs. Is it because I don't have internet service on my blackberry? But my friend who has an old Nokia phone with no internet capability receives texts from Iphone users, no problem?? Please help.

Sounds like you are on the right track. But dealing with carriers is, well, frustrating at best. And inconsistent. If you get a CSR that says they can do nothing. Hang up and call back...until you get someone who can really help.
And maybe try different paths into support -- for instance, on the BIS login page for VZW, there is a number listed there that is different than any other of their support numbers. I had a problem with BIS once, called there and they got it fixed within 5 minutes. My account rep and other CSR's had been telling me that there was nothing they could do. So persistence wins out.

My husband is receiving all of my texts msgs

Both phones are in my name with different plans and different numbers. He is able to read and receive my text msgs as they come in. If he opens it, it no longer triggers me to read my msg. Let alone a basic privacy issue! I am not privy to his...
We both have iphones.

This caused by using the same Apple ID for iMessage on both devices. It can be resolved by either:
On one of the phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a different ID. Note: you can still share the same ID for purchasing in Settings>iTunes & App Stores; or
On both phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and uncheck the email address(es) shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at". Also uncheck anyone else's phone number, if present.

Getting spam texts with no number

Hi, I have recently started receiving spam texts advertising casinos/gambling sites but the texts are from a name ("Support" and "Neteller") and not a number so I am unable to report/block them. I have tried saving the contact to see if a number is attached to the name but it just populates the number field with the name so I don't think there is any number. Is there any way to either block this type of message or get their number so I can report them? I know reporting them does pretty much nothing but it makes me feel better... Thanks in advance for any answers. Galaxy Note II, Android 4.4.2

Yes . call ee and they can block third party texts coming through.

The song playing starts over when I open my text msg app

When I listen to music on my iphone and I receive a text msg, if I open the text msg app then the song starts over.

I believe in the initial iOS 7.0.0 release, the "Reduce Motion" only affected the Parallax effect. iOS 7.0.3 now affects both the Parallax effect as well as zoom effect. Disabling motion now changes the zoom effect to a fade effect while the Parallax feature remains the same.

TS2755 text msg from someone, they never sent

Is it possible to receive a text msg from someone, even though they didn't send it? Is this a possible security issue.

Highly unlikely to be a security issue. Likely a mixup when transferred from one carrier to another or somewhere along the line.

Why won't my sound work when I get a text msg or email. Only works for the ringer?

Do you have sounds turned on for these types of notifications? Also, if you have notifications turned on, do the sounds show up in the Notifications settings area for the particular apps?

Can I receive photos via a text msg on a Treo 755p?

I am a Verizon (formerly Alltel) customer with a Treo 755p. Can anyone tell me if I can receive photos via a text msg and if so, what do I need to do to view the photos?

You cannot receive media content from SMS but you can from MMS/picturemail. This requires a different plan from SMS so please contact your carrier to see if you have this plan.

I had this problem with my 4s a couple of times when I'd taken the headphones out and it hasn't registered it. My solution was easy, all I had to do was turn the phone off and then on again.
Although I'm sure you've already tried this its a sometimes forgotten and very easy solution to a lot of problems. I hope you find out what's wrong.

Can't receive text msgs from other carriers

My carrier is Verizon, and I'm able to receive text msgs from other Verizon carriers. But my problem is that I can't receive text messages from other carriers, such as Tmobile. They can receive my text messages though. I have tried restarting, shutting down and reopening the phone. I've tried calling support, and I logged a ticket. Any idea what to do?

Hello and welcome to the forums;
I would let Verizon follow up on the ticket you opened with them. Does the incoming text never show up at all? Were you ever a customer of another wireless company and either migrated to Verizon or bought out by Verizon (such as Alltel)? Were you able to get texts on your last phone or is this your first Verizon phone?

Text msgs not received

I'm having problems receiving some txt msgs, I went to vzn store and the guy very kindly tried to help me, but so far I still have the problem. I just purchased the samsung nexus 4G, what can I do?

That's definitely strange, Bohica_61. Let's help get the messages flowing to everyone! With regards to the group messages, it does not matter where the message originates from, correct? (Tablet, S5, or web app) Not all the users receive the messages. Is it always the same people that do not receive your texts in the group?

Can receive text msgs but cannot send!?!?

A few days ago I began to be unable to send text msgs. Using iPhone 3G, it appears that the 'send' button is dithered 'greyed' out. I tap it but nothing happens. I can email, and obviously type text online (as here) but cannot 'send' text. I deleted MSG history, cleared cache, cleared recent calls, cleared email history to no avail. I can receive text just dandy but cannot send. Can anyone shed some light here or do I go see the 'geniuses' at the store and get a new phone. ( it seems every time I have a phone problem like this, they can't fix it they just give me another phone) Would really like to not have to go to the store. Thanks in advance for anyones help!

I would try a few basic things before scheduling an appointment with the Genius Bar.
1) Sync your iPhone with your computer. I have noticed that sometimes my phone will have a hiccup and when I sync it, whatever was wrong automatically rights itself.
2) Reset your iPhone holding down the "home" button and the Sleep/Power button on the top right side of the phone at the same time. It takes about 5-15 seconds and you want to make sure you hold down both buttons until you see the apple logo, ignore the slider.
3) Plug your iPhone into the computer and perform a phone restore. There are 2 options for this:
a- If you know when this problem started with your SMS messaging you can restore from a backup that was done on a previous sync. Chose a date prior to this issue starting and restore your phone to how it was on that date.
b- If you don't know when this issue began or restoring it to an earlier date does not fix the problem you can restore it to how it was when it came out of the box.
I hope that one of these things is able to solve your problem with SMS messaging. If none of these fixes the problem you should schedule an appointment with the Genius Bar and get this resolved with them. If you visit the Genius Bar make sure to sync your iPhone just prior to your appointment so if they need to replace the iPhone you don't lose any calendar entries, recently added contacts, pictures, etc.
