Recent BOA increase/Chase consolidation-GREAT...Discover Approval-lukewarm

It's been a while fellow Ficoers, but good to see all the credit good that's coming from everyone's hardwork! Anyway, against my better judgement coming out of the garden,  I decided to see if I could get a CLI on my BoA  99/500 cash rewards card that's been stuck at 1k CL. I talked to the credit analyst and she advised she would love to increase my line, but she advised she could not due to 2 new medical collections from April 2015. In a Scooby Doo voice I wanted to say urrrhh, lol! I advised I had no idea what she was talking about, so she gave me the info on my TU report. I don't remember getting any alerts either, so I was truly stomped because I thought I took care of everything except 1 med collection I am still disputing. Anyhow, I called the collection agency and then I called the docs office they stated I owe, which I knew I didn't owe and the doc office confirmed I didn't have a balance. I pulled my report since I put the collections in disputed and within a day they were both removed. My scores stabilized, 720 TU and then I called BoA credit analyst and the nice gentlemen reviewed my account and advised he would put a request back in. I checked 1 day later and my new BoA limit was at 5k, very happy since they are also sending me a siggy card, waived the annual fee, and gave me a 0% balance transfer promo

  • Any success with Sallie Mae or Discover approval with large unpaid collection?

I have a 15000 collection on my account that I won't be able to payoff until next year. QS opened in June. $5000sl.  No other inquiries or cards in the last decade. TU 675, EQ 690s. Will I need to wait until that is paid?

Any success with Sallie Mae or Discover approval with large unpaid collection?Given the impact of derogs the standard advice is to get them addressed.  The specific creditor you intend to apply with does not matter.  A collection is a major red flag to a potential creditor.  Don't rely on apping with the "right" creditor.  Hit the Rebuilding subforum and carefully research before taking action as it is possible to make matters worse. delaney1 wrote:

  • Chase Southwest Rapid Rewards-APPROVED

I found these boards so helpful in deciding whether or not I should apply, so I thought I'd share my experience for any others who may be interested in this card.  All 3 of my scores are right around 650.  I have a 4 year old car repo, and a few 6 year old medical collections, other than that, everything recently is doing great.  I was approved last month for a $1000 CL on an Amex Everyday, which I was thrilled about, it's been my largest limit so far.  Have 4 other smaller cards.  I really want the points for SW and finally decided to just give it a try.  To my surprise, not only was I approved, I was approved with a $16,000 CL!!!  Never in a million years, especially after rebuilding after a tough couple of years, did I think I'd get approved, much less a limit that high.  Hope someone else finds this useful.

  • Discover approval with HIGH CL!! Couldt believe it!!!

NEW to the forums.....I have been steadily working on my credit for the past 7 years....nothing really ever to bad. I have never been a believer in credit cards, but my wife has been telling me I need to get some for our benifit with rewards and miles ect. I was approved for AMEX blue, but to my supprise the CL was low only 1500. She still wanted me to get a balance transfer/rewards card also with a co I hadnt banked with ever, that would eventually lead up to a great travel card. After researching on here she had me apply for the Discover IT CC, she was approved for 1200, lowset of her cards, but loves it. I was instantly approved but with no limit stated. I called CS and when the nice lady on the phone said "WOW I havent seen a limit this high in a long time, your limit is 17.5K!" I was more then SHOCKED!!!!My FICO scores are not "excellent" only "good"..... Very happy to have Discover in my wallet now.. really want to apply for a travel/miles card, any suggestions? My scores are EQ 702 TU 710 EX 692 ( Discover pull EQ // AMEX pull EX )

  • Chase Sapphire Preferred (CSP) Approval+CapOne QS1 CLI!

I am totally and completely in shock right now! TL;DR is at the bottom of the post! I'm only posting my credit life story (LOL) to show that it is completely possible to get in with a prime card really fast from a blank file (contrary to what I had originally believed before reading this forum). First, I would like to thank everyone here on the MyFICO forums, as I have read through SO many forum threads (even though I haven't posted much - haha). The advice has been invaluable! Also of note, I am just your regular Joe as far as income and things like that (Actually, a bit low in that regard - I'm doing well for someone my age, though), so no special treatment or anything...Maybe just pure luck in my case? Background: Started my credit journey with a completely blank credit file in February 2015 (I am 21). Was approved for Discover IT ($1250.00 SL) and CapitalOne QuickSilver One ($300.00 SL) - was also added as an AU on $500.00 Chase Freedom and applied for a card through Fifth Third Bank and Bank of America (also applied for Chase Freedom as my very first app before being added as the AU later on my SO's Freedom card). All three of those apps were denied due to no credit history (so something like 3 TU and 4 EQ inquires - IDK about EX). Chase told me to get some cards and apply again in about a year (they were nice about it, though!). I was not happy with Fifth Third's inflexibility (in retrospect, I might have been acting a bit spoiled, but I was annoyed that Fifth Third knew my account history and all they could offer was a secured card with nothing going for it), so I switched my accounts to Chase. Fast forward to the last week of July - I had been checking the luv button for Discover sporadically since I received that card, but it always wanted an HP, so I never went through with it. Also, I was enrolled in the Credit Steps program with CapOne, so I didn't think to look for a CLI until that was up (sixth statement would have early August). On July 28th, my FICO score updated on Discover's website, and it showed me having a 733 TU (pretty much spot on with Credit Karma). I went ahead and pressed the luv buttons on Discover and CapOne, and got a $3000.00 CLI for Discover and $500.00 for CapOne - both with just SPs (I also received an additional $500.00 CLI for CapOne for the Credit Steps program when my sixth statement cut earlier this month). I checked Chase's prequal site and had prequals for Freedom and Slate w/ 22.99% APRs (ewwwww). I had made my mind up to wait until early 2016 before applying for anything else... Over the past week, Chase's prequal site updated and showed me with 18.99% APR for Freedom (the midtier rate for that card) and popped up with Slate and CSP as well - I had zero clue what would have changed for the site to give me better rates and a new offer...And I was skeptical (although I know that Chase's prequals are pretty solid). I waited over the past week to see if CK would update to show if any credit report would show my higher limits - Just today, CapOne updated EQ, but no Discover CLI was being reported yet. I went into a Chase branch a few days ago and the banker told me that I had prequals for Slate, CSP, and UnitedMileagePlus Club ($450 AF - NO THANK YOU) and United MileagePlus Explorer...Weird thing was that the banker said that no Freedom prequal was showing... I didn't apply for anything and went home. I really want the CSP+Freedom combo, so after doing research on MyFICO for hours and pacing back and forth, I decided to just take the plunge and apply for CSP now. I closed my eyes waiting for the application page to submit - haha...And it came back with an instant approval for $7500.00! I am so happy!!! I was expecting the further review message if not a complete denial! I am debating whether to apply for Freedom now or not...I am thinking that I will wait for the Freedom $200 bonus to come back (it appears that they do it in May and November) and will apply for it then, just because Chase is not guaranteed to group HPs together for multiple apps. I have a few observations: 1) As has been established, Chase's prequals are apparently rock solid for the most part2) While I do have my bank accounts with Chase, I am just a regular Joe - I've got a few thousand in checking and savings, but no deep relationships such as investments or anything. I was always under the impression that CSP was for wealthier people (I've seen some peoples' incomes posted on these forums, and I'm like at most of them) - apparently income isn't as big a deal as I thought.3) My highest credit line was $4250.00, but from what I can tell, it hasn't reported, so I had a $1300.00 (to EQ only, otherwise only $300.00) and a $1250.00 credit line. I was reading that Chase does not like to be the guinea pig in offering higher limits, and that you generally need a card with at least a $5k limit (or stellar credit history) - I have neither, and my AAoA is only the 6 months or so, so IDK if I'm just a fluke or if Chase was just feeling the love. Not only that, but they gave me more than the minimum SL for the card! I thought that it would take me a year or more to get in as a primary cardholder with Chase (they told me to get some cards and apply in a year when I talked to them about my denied Freedom app earlier this year)...and even then, I was thinking that just Freedom would be a good start. Now I've got three fantastic cards just six months after starting my credit journey! Next steps are to get CLIs and to maybe have the QS1 PC'd to a QS w/ no AF. TL;DR: Approved for Chase Sapphire Preferred with a $7500.00 SL - also received two $500.00 CLIs for CapitalOne QuickSilver One (one from Credit Steps). All of this on top of the $3000.00 CLI received for Discover IT less than a month ago! Note that my file is thin (AAoA is just 6 months), and I was starting from a blank file. I'm over the moon!

Thanks for the congrats, everyone! @Monoglot: I was initially apprehensive about the AF for CSP, and I wondered if I should wait. The thing is that I'm going to be taking a big vacation within the next month, and I'm going to start transitioning more of my monthly spending over to credit cards anyway, ao hopefully I'll end up ahead. Worst case scenario,  I can always try to PC to Freedom if I feel like it's not worth it.  As far as the Discover CLI - yes, the SP CLI went through right away once I noticed that my FICO score had updated on their site. It pulled the score from July 20th - I didn't notice the update until the 28th, but once I did, it was like magic! Up until that point, Discover had always wanted an HP. Also, I hadn't really put much spending on Discover (about $2k from Feb-July), but they still took me from $1250.00 to $4250.00.  Now I've just gotta wait for Freedom. I'm hoping that they'll have the $200 promotion closer to the end of the year. If I knew that Chase would group HPs for multiple apps, I'd go for it, but since it's hit and miss with them, I guess I'll wait. I'm just trying to get in with CSP and Freedom before I hit my 5 credit/24 month mark.

  • Recently started using "Remote" works great, but shows the entire library instead of only the checked songs

Recently I've started using the iTunes Remote, that works great, but it shows all the songs. is there any way to fix that?
Any way to change the setting in which it will only show the Checked songs?
    Thank you very much

  • Macbook Pro Recent Heat Increase

    I have a 2 year old 13" Macbook Pro from 2009.
My macbook pro has alway ran hot as they all do, especially in the top left corner near the escape key where all of the ports are.
Recently, in the past month or two, my macbook has been running very significantly hotter than it has in the past, causing the fan to spin up and draining the battery life. I only get an hour and a half or two of battery life at this point due to the heat. Checking activity monitor, nothing is eating up my processor and I can not seem to track down what is going on.
I know people often complain about temperatures on their macbooks, but there was a sudden change in the running temperature of mine recently. I haven't changed any habits of using the laptop and I don't remember if this started happening after a system update or anything.
If anyone has any idea of what could be causing this or how I can track it down please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Shawn

    Two things to try:
    1. SMC reset, Directions are here - note the steps are different depending on whether or not the battery can be removed by the user:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964
    2. NVRAM / PRAM reset:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379
These steps are worth trying, although the problem may be deeper.
Please post back with your results.

  • Recent price increase

My latest bill dated 21/2 and covering the period 21/2 to 20/5 for a unlimited weekend plan also includes a 100% refund in respect of the charge on the previous bill, 1/12/14 to 20/2/15 when the cost was £15.99 per month and then a recharge of that period at £16.99 per month, producing at addition change of £2.67. The plan increase was from 1/12/14
Clearly this is a small amount and I do not wish to appear pedantic but its a retrosepective increase and seems to me to be a breach of contract law.
I have no issue with the price increase as such but given the dates above I believe that the increase should only have been effective from 21/2.
Having paid for the period 1/12/14 to 20/2/15 in good faith I do not want a refund. The "contract" for that period is a done deal. Offer, acceptance, consideration and payment and all that stuff in place. I cannot see how BT can expect people to pay in advance take the money and then 3 months down the line seek to charge more.
If BT think they are able to terminate a payment already made and then recharge at a higher rate 3 months in arrears whats' to stop them going back 6 months, a year even 3 years.
I called BT earlier today I was told that nothing will happen because no other customers have objected.
Maybe I am missing something here but BT's actions appear wrong.
If another member of the forum or a BT moderator could enlighten me I would be very grateful
    Paul

Their billing system is over-complicated, and extremely confusing, but I don't believe it was wrong.
All customers were notified of the increase in September or October, and given the opportunity to cancel their contracts without penalty.  Anyone who hadn't notified BT of their intention to leave by late November would be deemed to have accepted the new contract.
At the beginning of December, BT continued to bill customers for advance charges at the old rate even though the prices were rising during that period.  This means that most/all of their customers underpaid what they should have, and ended up owing BT a few pounds.
In the next bill, BT added a correction.  They refunded the under-charge from the previous bill, then re-charged at the correct rate.  This is why the January bills were higher than normal.
The end result is that everybody has ended up paying what they should have, just with part of the bill delayed for a month.

  • 2 seperate app spree's, 8/9 approved!!@!

Ok, so I came out of the garden prematurely. Was suppose to garden until Nov or Dec 2015 but got anxious because there were still some cards I wanted. App'd for Chase, Amex ED, Discover It and Abercrombie & Fitch (because my son loves that store). Approved on all but Chase citing too many new accounts. Discover  (3,000), Amex (1,000) and Abercrombie (700.00). I then waited 2 weeks and decided to try again and was approved for Neiman Marcus (dont know my limit yet), Macy's (1,000) and Walmart (asked for 5,000 but only got 2500), BoA (got denied but then got the 99/500 deal which I accepted to get in the door with them) and approved for TJMaxx store card (my personal favorite store, approved 700.00). Now in garden for new target end date of March-April 2016. Will come out to app for higher limit cards.Current Scores are: Exp 689, Trans 676, Eq 632. BK due to fall off end of 2016, no baddies!

    Congratulation on all your approvals!

  • Requested Discover CLD... but got removed from future CLIs

I had $20,500 CL on my discover and just for the sake of making it a whole number requested for a CLD to $20k by reducing $500... My CL was reduced as requested and 3 days after that got a message stating that since I requested for CLD, my account will be removed from future account reviews for CLIs. What??????... Message continues to say, to be restored for account reviews for CLI, I will have to request for CLI. HUH????? Anyone else had this situation. Discover is weird.

I might be missing something but I just don't understand requesting a "lower" credit limit. One legit reason is to increase your odds of instant approval on a subsequent card app.  To avoid having to call recon and be questioned about all sorts of things, including "why do you appear to be reward seeking?".nope nope nope... if anything I see people talking to reps (chase) and can't get a CLI or anything but then apply for a new account and get approved for $15k+ when they were told by human that they were at exposure limit... I would never CLD in thinking that's going to make a new app with the same bank go through... the whole point of having the CL with a bank like chase and adding another card is you can easily move the cl and open the other card... why take away from your cl!This whole thread lacks logic to me but i guess i have 95 credit cards so that lacks logic for most.

  • Approved invoices can not be edited  - Approval process

    Hi Experts -
I have recently raised an incident with SAP about Approval process - the complete message and support reply is as follows - but i believe we need a change in the approval process - if the approval required is only one but you have defined two people (Either or OR) in the approver list - the system should allow the document to be edited if one of the approvers reject it.
please let me know and i believe we need  a change in design - unless otherwise a solid reason is given to justify the existing design
10.07.2009 10:32 Description (English) by SRS Manian
We have created approval procedure for all the invoices which are entered into the system., The
'Accts' user enters the invoice into the system - the invoice comes for approval to 'Manager' user.
When the Manager opens the invoice via Alert window - he/she wants to modify certain information
(lines as well as Sales person) and approve it.
The invoice which gets opened from the alert window - does not allow the user 'Manager' to modify at
all. All the information on the invoice are greyed out.
The system should allow the user 'Manager' to modify the information. Since the manager has full
    authorization to the system.

         Dear Manian,
    Thank you for contacting us.
When the originator sends the document for manager's approval, note that the at that stage, the document is still in the 'Approval Process'. This is because the system is waiting for the 'Manager' to 'Approve or Reject' the document. Hence, looking at the Document, it is still in 'Draft - Pending' Status.
When the document is in 'Draft-Pending' Status, the document is not available for editing, because the system considers that it is still in the waiting process. In your case, the manager cannot edit t he document.
To amend the document, an action is required from the approver either to reject it first. Once rejected, it can be amended and re-sent for approval.
I have checked our knowledge base and noted that there is an article which describes the approval process. Please refer to the Expert on Phone Wiki Article (March 2009) with title: Why a draft documen t in an approval process cannot be modified by the originator?
The link will provide the explanation:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/wiki?path=/pages/viewpage.action&pageid=88735894
I have also attached Notes 1321234 and 1111431 for your reference.

Thanks for the reply. The scenario is when the Manager receives the
document for approval, he wanted to edit and add it. Your reply (and
documentations) states that it needs to be rejected first before it is
available for editing. When it is gets rejected - the person who
orignated the document gets an alert and he can edit it. Here the
Manager must get an alert so that he can edit the Rejected document.
When the 'manager' rejects the document, and goes back to the alert
window to open the document - it is still greyed out !!
How does the 'manager' reject the document and edits it ?
    regards
    Manian

         Dear Manian,
If after the Manager rejects it and still the document is not editable (greyed out), it means that the document may still be in the 'Approval Process'. When it is greyed out, what is the status of the document in the header? Does it say 'Rejected' or 'Pending'?
If it is still in 'Pending' mode, please verify the number of 'Approvers' set in the 'Stages' tab of the 'Approval Template - Setup' window. If there is more than one user listed as 'Approver', and o nly 1 approval is required, the system provides an opportunity to other 'Approvers' to approve or reject the document. If in your case, the number of approvers is 2, and manager 'rejected' it, the sys tem still keeps the document in Pending status as it waits for another approver's decision to reject or approve it.
Also, verify the number of 'Approvals' required. If the number of 'Approvers' who have not rendered their decision is greater than or equal to the 'Approvals' required (e.g. approvers - 2, required ap provals - 2) the system keeps the document within the approval process. This is to allow the other 'Approvers' to decide on the document.
I hope this clarifies the behaviour. If you can provide us a step by step screenshot of the issue, this may help us to provide a more accurate response.

         Dear Manian,
Thank you for the information. The behaviour is a current system definition documented as per Note 1321234. I have attached the said Note for your reference. When only 1 approval is required and there are 2 or more persons are allowed to approve the document, the document does not get automatically rejected when 1 person 'rejects' it. The system waits for other approvers to render their decision b ecause a person may still approve or reject the document.

Edits: I applied for a new BOA credit card with 2 existing cards already with them.Sorry for the typo on the score earlier. My limits are $2000 and $ 2000.
Have a FICO score of 753 and two cards with BOA. They rejected me since they said that I already have sufficient credit with them. I even offered to use some of my other credit from my other cards, but they said that will not be possible.
Called 866-618-4585 and  8885036092 and both have the same answer.
What should  I do, just accept the rejection ?

But with that kind of history with BOA. it should have been instant approval. as regardless of not being on your credit report now. they would still know who you are. somethings wrong with Boa. find out asap

  • Accepted Penfed Credit Card CLI Pre-Approval!!!

Penfed offered me a CLI for credit card last week. I didn't decided until today. I didn't take the max amount of pre-approval (up to $21.4K).  I didn't want to get denial. I only accepted the amount $7800. I chose my Penfed Rewards Visa Signature Card for the limit increase. It only got $5K.  I got approved for the full amount $7800 after completing the pre-approved application. They increased from $5000 to $12.8K. Now, it is waiting for manual review.    Ron.

Congrats...I guess...maybe?Uh yeah, why not take the entire offer? $5K to $21K+ is a great offerPre-APPROVAL? Why the need for an analyst if it's pre-approved?How old are your accounts? Current scores? Thanks!!!!! I know they are very conservative. They might not approve the whole amount $21.4K. Why they need people to look at the apps? Conservative.  It is from two yrs old to a year old. EQ scorre is 780.  Ron.
I guess what I don't understand is "PRE-Approval", not to be confused with PRE-selected or PRE-qualified! Doncha just Esign on the dotted line?
