Recent Files List in Dreamweaver CS5.5

Recently opened files are not being stored in the recent file list (File --> Open Recent) on my installation of Dreamweaver. Is there a setting I can enable to turn this on?

Are you using Mac or Windows?
The recent file list is stored in the Registry on Windows. Are you having other Registry problems?
Please provide a simple recipe for what you are doing.
How do you open the file? There are many ways to open files in DW.
What kind of is it? html? js? css? php?
Are you in code view? design view? live view?
What do you do while you're there?
How do you close the fille?
How many other files do you have open?

Be careful anytime using Regedit and editing the Registry...
If you are using Windows this method should work-
--- this method works for CS6, not sure about (sigh) 'Creative Cloud' ---
Close Dreamweaver
Press & Hold the Windows key on keyboard>
Type in regedit... click run - click ok when admin. dialog opens>
Folders on left, click HKEY_CURRENT_USER>
than click Software>
than click Adobe>
than click Dreamweaver CS6>
...scroll until you see the folder 'Recent File List'
than click Recent File List>
Again BE CAREFUL!!
Leave the first key which should be (Default), the rest which have names File1, File2, File3, etc., right click and select delete (you can also click and drag to highlight all the ones you want to delete, agree.
Exit Registry - start Dreamweaver!

'Open Recent' files list

The 'Open Recent' files list is too short.
Is there a way to make it longer, e.g. for 25 or 50 files?

I'm not sure that it's a good idea but it's your wish so here is the soluce:
set nbRecents to 30
do shell script "defaults write com.apple.iWork.Pages NSRecentDocumentsLimit " & nbRecents
If you want the same behavior in Numbers, use:
set nbRecents to 30
do shell script "defaults write com.apple.iWork.Numbers NSRecentDocumentsLimit " & nbRecents
In fact we may use that for every application with a Recent Items menu.
I got it in a thread dedicated to the behavior of Script Editor.

File names not shown in Recent Files list

On my Samsung Galaxy S3, when I access the Recent Files list, the files I have downloaded in the last few weeks mostly have names like downloaded_file-51.pdf . In the Documents List under /storage/emulated/0/Download, the names appear correctly. Older files appear correctly in the Recent Files list.
Has anyone else seen this problem?

Delete files in Open Recent Files list - CS3

Is it possible to delete single files in the "Open Recent Files" list
or specify how many recently opened files are be shown?
I am using CS3 (5.0.3).

No and no, although Adobe themself doesn't seem to have any problems with this -- every single update kills the list (to my chagrin).
Can't imagine any bona fide reason you'd want to. It's not like it's meant as sort of kind of Document organizing feature, as if.

Recent files list is not updating after 10.1.13

Recent files list is not updating after 10.1.13 update unless I open the file via the Network in Windows Explorer. If I open a file by accessing the file via a drive listed under Computer, the recent files list does not update. The recent files list updates only if I open the file from the same drive listed under Network.

Odd Files in Recent Files List

We recently ran into some virus/identity theft issues on our macs. We are a little concerned about a list of files which appeared in the 'recent files list' for excel (see attached screenshot). The files seem to be related to emails and were located in a /volumes/date file location.
Any direction would be appreciated.

"Update Template Files" not working, Dreamweaver CS5

"Update Template Files" does not seem to be working in Dreamweaver CS5.
After making a change to a template and saving it, I get the "Update Template Files" dialog box. It lists all of the files based on the template. So, I click "Update". Then, the "Update Pages" dialog box appears. Any files to be updated already open in Dreamweaver are modified correctly - in memory, that is. However, closed files do not get modified. The "Update Pages" dialog box seems to just get hung up. It just sits there with a status of "Updating...".
Is this an installation issue? ... a template issue? ... or what?
FYI: I am using the 32-bit version for 32-bit Windows Vista.

There have been, of course, numerous updates to it since the problem disappeared.
As for the specifics of what I was trying to change when the problem was first encountered, I was attempting to change a link URI in the navigation bar. However, any change at all would end the same way, with a locked up template synchronizer (or whatever the mechanism is called). Just before I gave up testing, I was repeating the process of simply adding a space anywhere and removing it in order to trigger the modified flag.

Recent File List on Getting Started Window

Displays last two projects and most recent files. As everything I do is project-based, I would like to display more than 2 or the entire list as most recent projects. Is this possible with an ini setting?

I have been asked by a user to remove the Recently used file list in Staroffice 7. I cannot seem to find where this information is stored or a built in option to Clear the List

I have now Created a Batch file to be run as and when to remove the file and my user seems happy with that.

Where's the file that stores the Recent Files list? (Mac OS)

I closed a document yesterday that I had finished after saving a PDF from a saved AI file. When I went to "Open Recent File" and selected either the AI or the PDF, it says the file cannot be found.
I would like to take a look at the path of where Illustrator thinks the file should be so I can narrow down why the file is missing.
I've looked in /Users/(me)/Library/Preferences and haven't found anything.

I doubt this *.plist file will be any use to you… Why don't you go outside the app and use spotlight…?

Recent files list not saved or updated

I've just noticed that my Acrobat is no longer saving Recent files.
I don't know what the problem is, but my settings are set to remember 10 files and the organizer to remeber for 30 days.
How can I fix this problem?

Recent file list missing from taskbar icon

Adobe product icons on the Windows 7 task bar (along the bottom of the screen) used to reveal, with a right click, a list of recently opened files for that program. Now, since upgrading to CS5, a right click shows only the program and the option to unpin the program from the task bar. Can anything be done about this in preferences or elsewhere? I'm striking out. Thanks in advance.

This is a great idea. A more detailed "Call details" screen with call length would be very useful. Let Apple know this.

Transfering files from Windows Dreamweaver CS5.5 to build apps on MAC

I am considering upgrading to CS5.5 to take advantage of Dreamweaver's new Phonegap features.
I am a Windows user.
I know I can't build iOS APPS on Windows but can I move th files I have built to a MAC with a development envvironment and build the APP there ?

Depends on what you're wanting to build. HTML5 webpages are cross-browser/ cross-device compatible and will work across iOS, Android & BlackBerry (modify with WebWorks) models.
In this case, a HTML editor is recommended. If you do not have DW on the Mac, you could copy the projects folder from localhost ROOT and open it with any HTML editor.
I think you're confusing yourself with the iOS build here. There is no such thing as a 'native' Mac environment to build iOS webpages. Webpages made with any HTML editor will open on iOS.
If you're talking about building iOS Apps, you need to download XCode and other related iOS SDK's to start. This link should give you an insight: https://developer.apple.com/devcenter/ios/index.action

How to remove automatic file associations in Dreamweaver CS5?

When installing Dreamweaver, I chose to associate a broad array of file extensions with the program. I would like selectively remove some of these automatic file associations (e.g. .php). I have found this question posted several times, but never answered. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I should have been more specific that my ultimate goal was to have .php files not automatically associated with any program (so that I could modify the file extensions of some .php files). I don't believe this could be achieved by changing the automatic association via the operating system (because you must select another program to automatically associate with a given file type). However, my particular problem is resolved because I discovered that I could just deselect "hide extensions for known file types" in the "view" tab of "folder and search options". This way I could change the .php extensions even though they were still automatically associated with dreamweaver. Although this may be an obvious solution to many, I thought I would share it here in case anyone else finds themself stuck in the same way.
