Recent HP encryption v.8.6.14.20ap1 update bricks my Elitebook 820 G1
Every time I install HP Drive Encryption v.8.6.14.20ap1 (SP71113) as prompted by HP Support Assitant my laptop blue screens when attemtping to reboot. The Error Message flashes up too quickly to read & I can recover the laptop to a recovery point & get it working again, but I want this update if possible. I have switched off all HP Security levels prior to the install & I do not, and have not had HP Drive Encryption activated before on this partiular machine. BIOS is upto date as is every other prompted update. Any ideas what is causing this or is anyone else experiencing the same issue? OS: Win7 64bit home edt.

yeah, config from testing *.31 works fine, but the job needs to be done to strip out all useless stuff out of that general kernel

HELP NEEDED!! Recently upgraded my ipad air to the new update, charged it over night, now it will not come on? i plug in the charger but comes up the normal charging sign but still no life in it? My laptop recently tried to update software, failed and told me to uninstall and re-install which I have done and tried to do but again, the install has failed several times..
Please can someone help as I now don't know whether I have lost all my music and films... I will be gutted if this is so..

Are you using Windows Vista on a Dell, HP, or another Windows (Microsoft) based laptop? Or are you using a Mac?

I recently updated my macbook's AirPort Utility to 5.5.3 and it will no longer connect to wireless networks. First let me explain everything I have done already, I have reset my router, and tried on other's (my friends and my schools) networks. I have been able to succesfully connect to my friends wireless (router is made by netgear), but when i try to connect to my network (WRT54G linksys router) and my schools network (im unaware what they use for routers) I am unable to connect, and my AirPort will proceed either state it does not have an IP address and will assign itself one and will not connect to the internet. It will connect to the network with an IP, but will be unable to connect to the internet with the browser claiming DNS lookup failure.

deleted the selected service.
tried resetting my router
cleared my PRAM / NVRAM
installed the newest firmware onto my WRT54G
Renewed my DHCP lease
made sure my Configure IPv4 is using DHCP
and theres a few more but i'm forgetting them.
Any suggestions on why the 5.5.3 update might of screwed up my airport?If everything else is connecting with no issues, I would go into the wifi setting on the iPad and redo the info there, user, password and anything else related to your wifi at your house.
It is possible whatever he reset may have reset something to default setting which will not allow it to connect. If you need too then verify the wifi setting by comparing it with another device setting that works on your home network.

Recently erased my entire mac HD do to mavericks update going wrong. I do not have a back up for my music. But my itunes match account has all my music. If i add this computer with my itunes match will it put all the music i had back in my itunes library or just upload the little bit of music i purchased on itunes in the past that im only seeing now in my itunes? If you had iTunes Match updated with all of your non iTunes purchased content already, then yes, when you enable iTunes Match with the following article it will have all the content that has been uploaded to iTunes Match will be available for download.

Did you create these notes in the iPad notes App ... I assume?
This support article will explain how you can restore from a backup - which is what you have to do in order to have any chance of recovering your note.

But you have to remember, that you will lose any of the notes that you have taken since the date of the last backup. If you synced your iPad last week, then you will lose a whole week of current notes - or whatever notes you have created since your last backup. When you restore from a backup - you restore everything in that backup onto the iPad - that was on the iPad on the time and date of the backup.
If you backup every day, then all of your notes should be recoverable from the backup - except for any notes that you took since you last backed up. There is no foolproof way to recover everything once you start taking more notes or creating new documents or whatever that you do in an app unless you are syncing those notes with iCloud and backing up all of the time or unless the app is set to sync with iCloud as you work on the files - like in Pages, Numbers or Keynote - Apple's iWorks apps.
If you decide to restore from an iTunes backup you should turn off at sync before you try restoring because iTunes will want to backup your iPad right away when you plug it in and you will lose your old or last backup. -
Open Recent function won't work after Mountain Lion updates
I recently did a fresh install of mountain lion (after using snow leopard for years). iWork, which came with my MacBook Pro worked great, until the update. Obviously I had to do a fresh install of iWork 09 from the CD I had. I then updated iWork through the software update. Now running pages 4.3 etc.
However, for pages and numbers I can't get the Open Recent function to work. It's just empty, no matter how many docs I've opened or worked on.
Any tips??

When you now open Pages it will show you an open dialog with the option to look for those files either in your iCloud folder or on the regualr place on your Mac.
Personally I prefer the File Menu > Recent.

Recent Call List not working since 4.2 update
I've already posted this in the 3G forum but the couple of other threads relating to the issue don't seem 3G-specific so figured I'd post here too in case anyone else has had the same problem.
Since updating to 4.2 my Recent call list no longer works.
Favorites, Contacts, Keypad and Voicemail buttons all respond as expected, but the Recents button just quits the Phone and returns me to the App menu/home page.
Have done a full Reset and Restore to no avail.
Really missing Missed Calls etc, kinda a fundamental feature on a mobile phone...
Anyone else having this problem?Same problem with me also - as soon as I updated to latest software. I've been on the phone to apple support and they don't have any answers - yet...

Recent emails not showing in outlook after software update
i updated my software yesterday to maverick and it has runied my search in outlook. office 2011. when im trying to search a recent email, its showing emails only until dec jan 7th 2014. the emaisl are there but im not able to use the search functions, im having to manually run through thousands of emaisl of find something i recieved 2 months ago or 3 months ago.

Thank you for your quick reply. I'll give it a try. Another workaround I figured out last night is to right click the video, click show file, and then double click the file. Quicktime the plays the video.

No, it does not. It transfers purchases from the iDevice to the computer. The computer must be authorized for the Apple ID that the content was acquired with.

1) Battery was fully charged after update, and just under 6 hours later with no owner interaction (sleeping), the battery level was down to 9%.
2) Discovered on the Usage screen, that both usage and standby were exactly the same at just under 6 hours. (How was the phone in use when I was sleeping?)
3) Both iCloud Backup, Location Services, Automatic Time/Date setting, and Bluetooth were all turned off, and WiFi was enabled, an Alarm was set, but no apps were open or running.
I grabbed screenshots of the Usage and About screens if those would be helpful.
Any idea on how to resolve this battery drain issue?
Prior to the update, my battery was lasting almost 3 days on standby running iOS 5 with iCloud Backup, Locations Services, Automatic Time/Date setting, and Bluetooth turned off. as explained in the question, this is a ransom occurrence and requires me to select "continue" or "exit". selecting "continue" just seems to allow firefox to do what i wanted it to do.
