Recent imported photos cannot be edited nor will they show on slideshow. Help
I am running Iphoto 09 on Macbook Pro OSX 10.6.8 snow leopard recent imported photos in my album cannot be edited nor will they show on slideshow while others in the same album do. if I open the picture from slide show I get a screen displaying a white ! and the show displays a black screen until the next picture moves up. Older imported pictures in other albums play fine in slideshow and can be edited. Is there some hidden settings I need to change to allow me to edit these particular photos and use them in my slideshow?
The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

When i imported photos from my iphone to iphoto they show as a box with a dotted outline
I uploaded photos from my iphone to iphoto. The event boxes say no photos. But in last import, they are all there as white line outlined boxes. I can see them when I scroll but not when I stop. If I click on one I get a triangle with an exclamation point.
That's an indication that iPhoto has broken the link/file path to the original file. make a temporary, backup copy of your library if you don't already have one (Control-click on the library and select Duplicate from the contextual menu) and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4 as needed.

Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

Can't open recently imported photos in LR3
I can't open any of the recently imported photos in LR3? When I pull them up from my external hardrive it tells me the photo is allready imported and wont let me do it again. I can open older photo's just not recent ones. Please help.
Sounds like you are trying to Import the photos. As you have found out, this doesn't work if you have previously imported the photos.
Normally, you import the photos via File->Import once per photo (and ONCE only), and thereafter, when you want to work with or view these photos, you do NOT do an Import, you go straight to those photos in the Library Module. In this respect, Lightroom is very different than other photo editors you may have used in the past. -
My MacBook Pro will not allow me to shut down my computer. Their seems to be a glitch in the iPhotos. It says it is still importing photos into iPhoto. It will not allow me to quit either.
You could always hold down the power button to force the MacBook to turn off. This is usually a last resort step though, but if nothing else is working and you are sure it isn't importing photos then you might consider it.

If I delete my photo stream photos off of my iPhone will they also delete from my photo stream on my MacBook Pro? If so how can I ensure that those photos are saved?
They will not be deleted if they have been imported to your iPhoto library. To ensure this happens automatically, go to iPhoto>Preferences>iCloud and check Automatic Import:
To confirm that they have been imported to your library, click on iCloud on the left sidebar of iPhoto, open your My Photo Stream album on the right, then Control-Click on your pictures. If you see "Show in Library" in the pop-up, the picture has been imported to your library and you can safely delete it from photo stream. -
Apple set my iCloud storage at $40 without asking or telling me. They won't let me contact them to fix that unless I pay for support. Nor will they let me downgrade. How do I talk to Apple?
Have you actually been charged? Did you convert from MobileMe? If so, you'll be automatically put on that plan, but revert to the free one when your current one expires.

Library Issue: I just imported 2 CD's into ITunes. They show up in "Recently Added" and on my other devices via ITunes Match, but NOT in the ITunes software on the computer where I added them. They show up in the search box, but when I click on the results it just kicks me to ALL my music. I have imported thousands of songs/CD's before and this is a new one.
Something may have gone wrong with the index of the Music playlist. Making another change to the library such as downloading the current iTunes Free Single of the Week, or deleting one track from your library and reimporting it, should fix the problem.
If that doesn't work close iTunes and delete the hidden file sentinel from inside the main iTunes folder, then start iTunes again. It should run a consistency check when it starts up which ought to correct things.

If I delete all the photos in My Photo Stream in my iPhone, will they be deleted from Dropbox and iCloud?
They will be deleted from iCloud any other devices that are sharing the account/photo stream. They shouldn't be deleted from Dropbox. As I understand it, Dropbox only automatically uploads photos, it doesn't automatically delete photos.

Am I the only fool who clicked on update all when my iPad told me updates were available? Two updates loaded just fine, but the other four never updated and now lie useless and grayed out. I had 6 Apps that needed updating on my iPad original. I hit "Update All" and that ruined four Apps. They won't download the updates, nor will they launch and be useable either. I lost Splashtop 2, Bible!, and Mercury Browser! Suggestions?! I don't want to ruin my access to Splashtop 2 for sure.
I fixed it by going through a few steps using iTunes while hooked to my computer.

The new event are created when i import photo in the top.
Before they where put in the end.
All my event (around 600) are classified on the top the old and a the end the new.
Where i can set the event at the end ?

the podcasts that I have subscribed to via itunes have stopped downloading/syncing. I see new podcasts on the podcasts website but they are not listed on my list of itunes podcasts, nor do they show up when I sync to an iPod. any ideas, thanks joanlvh

so I've changed my hard drive for an ssd and now I've been told to enable trim ? now I've got the apple cover will they show me how to enable it with out some program of the internet ?
Use an app called chameleon ssd optimizer.
I enabled trim with it after almost a year of having installed a Samsung 840 pro SSD and my read/write speeds almost quadrupled.
I would definite;y advise using it even though Samsung SSD's come with there own garbage disposal.

Recent photos cannot be edited or shown at larger sizes
My photos of late (started this month, July) cannot be edited or shown at larger sizes (including full-screen mode). I've even lost photos during the imports!!!
When I double click on the thumbnail, all I get is a "!" with a dotted line around it. I've rebuilt my iPhoto library including the thumbnail rebuild.
If someone could please offer up some advice, I'd greatly appreciate it.TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

Iphoto won't quit, won't import photos, stalls while editing photos despite rebuilding the database
I have mountain lion and the newest version of iphoto. It won't quit unless I force quit it, it won't import photos, it won't let me edit photos without freezing up. I have tried rebuilding the database and repairing permissions without success
Try this: launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists. If it freezes also try this:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
or with Mt. Lion from the User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
If the new library doesn't freeze or act like your current library then your current library is the culprit.
In that case Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
