Recent iPhoto update fails

I have iPhoto 11 running on 2011 Macbook Pro - When I try to launch iPhoto, it attempts to install the most recent updates (from last few weeks). It then freezes on 5/9 updates at 98% every time I attempt it and processes show iPhoto using 110% cpu
I have tried the following:
Reset PRAM
Rest PMU
Repaired Disk Permissions
com.apple.iPhoto.plist is not in the preferences folder to delete it !!!
Seems to be no way to roll back or stop the auto update happening whenever app is launched
- any help would be appreciated!

Just found a thread from the 'more like this' section which has fixed this!
If anyone else out there would benefit from the fix, it is:
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.

After the recent iPhoto update, all my themes vanished so now i can't print. What the heck?

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 and later they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • Is anyone having problems with syncing photos with iPhone 5 and the recent iPhoto update?

My iPhone 5 has been fine for most of the week, but recently I updated my iPhoto on my iMac.  Now when I sync my phone with my computer I get an error message.  I restarted computer and phone and then restored the software on the iPhone and problem persisted.  I then unchecked syncing photos to my phone and the sync worked.
Now I do not have the ability to sync selected photo albums with my iPhone.  Believe this problem occured right when I updated iPhoto.
Is anyone else having this problem?

I am having the same issue. My iPhone 5 is on Verizon and my daughters iPhone 5 is on Sprint. Cannot do anything.

  • What were the changes to the recent iPhoto update?

Anybody have the thread/website that shows what the recent UPDATE to iPhoto was?
    What were the changes?
    thanks.

The usual place to start looking for "what was changed" in a particular new version release is the Release Notes for that version. <br />

From that page you can use the hyperlink for the [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/buglist.cgi?bug_status=RESOLVED&bug_status=VERIFIED&bug_status=CLOSED&f1=target_milestone&f2=cf_status_firefox28&f3=target_milestone&j_top=OR&o1=anywords&o2=anywords&o3=equals&query_format=advanced&resolution=FIXED&v1=mozilla28&v2=fixed%2Cverified&v3=Firefox%2028&order=bug_id&limit=0&list_id=9960032 complete list of changes in this release], which displays the '''RESOLVED, VERIFIED, CLOSED''' Bugs reports for that version. 3934 Bugs are listed there for the Firefox 28.0 Release version.

  • Recent iPhoto update

I don't know why iPhotos needed a update, now all my pics are screwed up. Please put it back the way it was. ty.

Well Photos won't be able to migrate a damaged Library.
    To fix the iPhoto library:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

    TD

  • IPhoto update failed with my Panasonic GH1 raw file.

I just installed the new package for Panasonic GH1 raw support for iPhoto 09 but it did not work. It did not recognize or allow an import of my raw file from the Panasonic.

Did you run Disk Utility and repair disk permissions after installing the update? Also backup and launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed to rebuild the library. Select the last three options.
    Now try again.

  • IPhoto-update failed

    Hi!
After upgrading my iPhoto, I got a message saying that there was a problem opening iPhoto. When I click on the icon for iphoto on my dock, it will not open.
In App Store, it says that I have already installed the latest version (iPhoto 11´). I have tried to restart my computer, I have tried to do more upgrades on my computer and all of that, but it does not work. Can anybody please help me?

Actually, I cant open any of the programs on my computer that are connected to App Store. I get the same error message while opening Spotify, iMovie and such.
    The message says:
"iPhoto cannot be opened because of a problem. Contact the surver to make sure that this program is possible to use with this version of Mac OS X. It is possible that you have to install the program again. Make sure that you have installed all the avalible upgrades for the program and for Mac OS X."
I had to translate it into english, so the spellings and the language is probably not right, but I hope you understand.
My computer is a 10.7.5 version, and I tried to install Iphoto 11´ because iPhoto did not want to open before I did. That is when the problems started...

  • IPhoto update help

    Hi,
I recently installed Leopard on my PowerBook G4 that previously had Panther running. I have been trying to download the most recent iPhoto updates but I keep getting the message that "An eligible iPhoto application was not found in the location /Applications." which I am assuming means that I have a really old version of iPhoto and that I need to download older updates first before downloading newer ones. I tried loading updates as early as 4.0.3 and got the same message. Help!

You need to purchase iLife to upgrade. Free updaters will not change the first digit of the version number except for the now-pulled iPhoto 2 download.

Solving MSVCR80 issue and Windows iTunes install issues.
If the above doesn’t do the trick entirely, then use the instructions in the following as it applies to the version of Windows you are using:
HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP
HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
You may be required to boot into safe mode to complete the folder deletion process.

  • Hello. I keep my IPhoto library (about 90GB) on an external HD and am trying to back it up to another external drive. Both are formatted Mac OS Extended (Case-sensitive, Journaled). Recently, backup has failed from the start due to error 36. Howtoresolve?

Hello. I keep my iPhoto library (about 90GB) on an external HD and am trying to back it up to another external drive. Both are formatted Mac OS Extended (Case-sensitive, Journaled) and both check out when scanned with Disk Utility. Recently, backup has failed from the start due to error 36. Any ideas how to  resolve? Also, what's the maximum recommended size for an iPhoto library file? Thx!

Since you can't drag the library to the other EHD for the backup see if you can duplicate it (if you have enough room on the drive) by selecting it and typing Command+d (duplicate).
If you do rebuild the library without a backup and it goes awry you won't lose your photos but you may lose your orgnaizational efforts. So try the following:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library in the location of your choosing  based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
NOTE:  Fix 2 above might be the method you might want to try first with iPLM creating the new library on your second EHD. If it works that would get your backup copy on the second EHD at the same time as repairing it. If it does'nt work then go back to Fix 1.
