Recent Item option missing

Running CS4 and do not see the option for Recent Items in the File drop down. I've expanded it so that's not it. I checked preferences and the place where you can see how many files to display in recent is grayed out and says ZERO. I'm not sure how that happened but would love someone to tell me how to fix it. I have a screen capture if that'd help.

Well I'm not seeing what to change in TweakUI. Must I completely uninstall it?
This problem in InD may or may not be related to my larger Vista Recent Items issue. There is apparently a design flaw in Vista's Recent Items issue. It lists recent items alphabetically rather than most recently used. I found that so unhelpful I disabled it a long time ago. I've been trying to get it back this morning to see if that fixes the InD issue. But I can't do it. Something's messed up. In TaskBar StartMenu Privacy there should be TWO options, one to display recent files and another to display recent programs. The one for recent files isn't there at all. There's a gap where it should be. And I can't get the recent programs check box to stick. After checking it I go into start menu customize to be sure there's a number of files listed and there is. But I apply and OK and when I go back it's still unchecked. I have a free tech support call for MS which I think I'll use for this.

Hi,
I used to be able to do a four finger down swipe when in an app which would show any app windows open plus recent items underneath. I'm currently getting the windows showing but no recent items. This goes for any app. I haven't changed anything. I haven't cleared the list either. Any ideas?

That feature you are describing is called Spaces. What the does is help you organize your workflow. For instance, my workflow is that have Safari in one space and then I have Mail in another so that they are not on top of each other. If you want to remove spaces that you are not using, then open Mission Control and you will see a section towards the top, move you mouse over one of them and click on the X that shows up in the right hand corner of that window. Sent items option missing in settings

Hi,
I'm trying to help out a friend who has been having problems with their BT Yahoo email account that was compromise a few months back.
They have gone through the suggested steps (http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/39411/) to ensure the account it now secure, but are finding that sent items are not being saved.
In the account settings, there is supposed to be a tickbox "Save a copy of the message in the Sent folder" but this is missing.
Is there any other way of activating the saving of Sent Items, or is this some sort of bug/security measure.

I presume you are talking about webmail. If your friend has not been migrated and is still on the old BTYahoo mail, click on the cog icon in the top right hand corner and select 'Mail options'. Tick the box 'Save a copy of the message in the sent folder'. If they have been migrated to BTMail, I don't think the option exists, it automatically keeps a copy in the sent folder.

Repair for missing "open recent" documents option in my File Menu?

Can someone suggest how to repair a missing "open recent" documents option in my File Menu? I'm using CS5 Indesign.
There's no option for it greyed out or otherwise. It originally had dissappeared while using CS4. I gave up on it. Installed CS5 and hoped it would come back: nada. I did the Ctrl-Alt-Shift thing and deleted prefs file: Still no recent docs option. VERY IRRITATING.
There's got to be a way. But I'm not informed enough. Help, please?

This is easily fixed...took me a while to find out how.
Go into Preferences, click on File Handling...you will then see a page with 'Saving InDesign Files' in the middle section (See attached screen grab). You'll see a box next to 'Number of Recent Items to Display' which I'm assuming will be '0'...change this to any number up to 99. Click OK. Close InDesign. Reopen InDesign...Open a file, close the file...you will now see the 'Open Recent' link when you click on file.
Problem solved.

Removing the "sort by: most recent" default option from my purchased items.

Is there a way to remove the "sort by: most recent" default option from my purchased items? It annoys me to see items that are not ordered alphabetically or by release date so I do not want there to be a record of this.

Dock missing startup disk full nothing responding except "recent items"

My startup disk has been filling up recently and i kept trying deleting files and that didn't seem to help, i'm just realized that i could find videos on youtube to help with that but it is sort of too late. exactly what i did is that my safari kept crashing so i tried to restart my computer and my mail wouldn't quit so i had to force quit it and that didnt work so i held down the power button and then my computer turned off and then i turned my computer back on and my desktop is gone, my picture is gone, all of my files are gone, the icons at the top are gone, the dock is missing, mail opens up automatically so that is the only thing that opens, i can go to "recent items" and get on safari but that is about it. when i quit everything, i'm left with a blank desktop and then i cant do anything because the bar at the top is gone as well so i just restart it by holding down the power button....PLEASE somebody help, my computer is my life...:-(

I also found myself in this situation and followed the instructions in this link. I deleted a couple of applications and the system was able to start up normally and I could then delete further files etc using the finder and securely emptying the trash.

Networked HP 3485 Printer Options Missing

System
iMac - Power PC
OS 10.5.7 (recently upgraded)
HP Deskjet 3845 Printer (networked through other Powermac with 10.4)
Issue:
Now when trying to print to the networked HP 3845, the options for Quality, Color Management and various other items are missing. I have only generic choices. Quality does exist under the application Preview, but is none existent in QuarkXpress, Photoshop, Illustrator (where needed).
Using the latest HP drivers 1.1.1 and selected (reselected) the printer in Printers and Faxes. The utilities that came with the newer driver does not see the printer on the network at all.
Any suggestions????

As for the utility not seeing the printer. It used to when I was on Tiger. Ever since updating to Leopard, it does not show up through the utility.
The print driver included with OS 10.5 is version 3.3.1 as listed in Apple HT1370 and with OS 10.4 is version 2.7.1 as listed at HP Support. Consider triple checking that the print driver matches exactly to your printer model number.

Line items are missing during transferring ITS to EBP--tricky problem

We are using EBP 2.0 version.
Some shopping carts line items are missing while transferring shopping cart data from ITS to EBP.
This is happening randomly.we had checked all the shoppping cart related tables in EBP.
For example in my shooping cart 4 items are there,during transferring shopping cart data from ITS to EBP all 4 items are updating for all the shopping cart related tables except account assignment table.
In account assignment table for this particular shopping cart only 3 items are updated except first one.
This is happening randomly for few of the shopping carts that too most of the cases first item of the shopping cart was not updating reqacct table(this is account assignment table for shooping cart items).
I have debugged entire scenario,but i couldn't find the problem.
any one could you please advise me....why this is happening?whether it is a version problem?

I guess you already checked OSS notes for this.
Have you checked in the area of ITS ?
When ITS sends data to EBP, only the actual screen data is sent:
- item procurement data from basic data
- item accounting data from accountig tab
then this data is used to update the SC.
If you have debugged those 2 screens, you should see what is happening.
You say that only 3 reqacct lines are updated: does it means that you have the 4 lines previously created, or only 3 ?
If you change one line item quantity, you should see this updating the reqacct. Same if you go directly in accounting tab.
Finally, there are two options:
- this is an ABAP error, so you should catch it in debug
- this is an infrastrucute error (ITS is not sending the data), so you should get the data sent by ITS in debug mode
Sometimes in productive environment with an heavy loaded ITS, you can loose some data. Available memory is not enough to fill in correctly ITS session containers.

when you open your 'Downloads' folder choose 'View' in the Menu bar and choose:
'as List'
'Show View Options'
In 'View options' window you tick:
'Always open in list view'
'Date Modified', or
'Date created'
Now inside the 'Downloads' folder click on 'Date Created' (or 'Date Modified')
column to get items alined from oldest to newest date (or reverse)…

Is this normal to find Servers in "Recent Items"?

While I have been trying to save data on a crashed computer – the Desktop has disappeared and the Finder can't be found – I found something I have never noticed before.
On the menu at the top of the screen, when I click on "Recent Items" I find "Servers". Under "Servers", I find two blue colored drives called "Scan" and "SharedDocs".
I am doing file sharing at the moment but I don't use the names "Scan" or "SharedDocs".
Before my Desktop disappeared and the hard drive got corrupted, I wasn't doing any file sharing. All I was doing was backing up my computer. The backup failed though because the external drive got disconnected from the computer when the lid of the Macbook Air suddenly opened to 180 degrees (the hinge is broken).
I restarted the computer and attempted to backup the computer again but that failed and then the hard drive filled up all of a sudden. I did Disk Repair using the installation disc but that was when the Desktop and Finder disappeared. This is to give some background to what happened. I don't think anyone is spying on me but I don't remember seeing the Servers before under "Recent Items". Maybe they have been there all along but I haven't noticed them.

Try deleting the problematic tune (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.

you can do that, BUT DW starts - in my German DW at least - with a blank screen except the menu bar.
You have to take away the checkmark in this way (translated from my German DW): > edit (Bearbeiten) > settings (Voreinstellungen) > generally (Allgemein) > document options (Dokumentoptionen) > show welcome screen (Begrüßungsbildschirm anzeigen) > see screenshot)
I for my part don't remove it, I see it as a good thing to be able to open the last files by a simple cklick e.g.

Unknown Servers in Recent Items

I have a small network in my home over a Time Capsule and Airport Extreme. I have the Time Capsule set up as a server to use its hard drive. In my recent servers list under Recent Items, there are a number of servers with what appear to be Japanese characters. What is this?? I don't recognize any of these.
