Recent Itunes Upgrade screwed up computer?

We recently upgraded to iTunes 6.0.4.3. We lost all our dock settings, and now Safari and IE crash when we try and browse the net.
Any ideas? Could something else have caused this?

I have had similar issues with mine, happens mainly if I transfer songs and then decide to disconnect my iPod to listen to them with my IEMs (I use Interenet Explorer in my case and it is not neccessarely up when this happens, so I seriously doubt it is an issue conencted to the web browser). I have no patience for this so my trick is I try to eject it from iTunes, if that does not work, then I bring Windows explorer up, right mouse click on the iPod mounted drive and select Eject. It gives me the same warning but there is a third button selection called Continue. When I choose that it just disconnets the drive anyway and the iPod is finally disconnected. It seems to work each and every time I do it so this solution is fine for me. Would be intersting to see what the real root cause of this is because I started getting this problem with the newer iTunes 11.

Repair iTunes Security Permissions
Right-click on your main iTunes folder and click Properties, then go to the Securitytab and click Advanced. Use the Change Permissions... button grant to your account (or the Users group) and SYSTEM full control of this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to Replace permissions entries... which will repair permissions throughout the library. When complete switch to the General tab, click in the Read-only check box to clear it, then click Apply.
If you don't have the option to change the permissions then use the Owner tab and Edit... button to take ownership from an account with administrator privileges. Tick the option to Replace owner on subcontainers and objects.
Repeat with the media folder if it isn't stored inside the main iTunes folder.
If you've brought over the library from another computer you may also want to remove any "mystery" identities (S<string of dashes & digts>) that have come over from the old computer...

I've just lost my work in progress when I told iTunes to upgrade (what a mistake!) to version 10.2.0.34, then at the end it asks me if I want to reboot, to which I said NO, and then it rebooted anyways (!?!!?!) and didn't ask me to save and close my data, so I lost all my work in progress(!?!?!?!?!!?!?!!?!?!?!???)

Hi Why do you need to use a PC since iOS 7 you can download updates Apps everything Over wifi I have iPhone 5 s & 2 ipads in over a year I have never connected them to My Apple pc Try a wifi update If you have problems Try a Reboot press & hold power button & menu button hold both Down until You see Apple Logo you will not last any data. When I connect my iPhone or iPad I can see every items on them but not on the iTunes Library.
They sync fine with iTunes.
I browse all the menus in iTunes but cannot find any clues to what I have done for it to happen. It worked fine previously.

They would only be where you put them. What program did you use to import them? Pics/vids taken with ipod are not part of the sync process at all. You should be importing them just as you would with any digital camera.
If you did not import them, then they are not on your computer.

Recent iTunes upgrade.

Recently the iTunes upgraded itself, which took away one feature I liked, but that's another rant. The question I have here is when you download podcasts you can add them to your playlists, however over time when you download new podcasts it doesn't automatically add to those playlists. Is there a way to do that?
In the playlist I can sort it alphabetically, but I can't
sort it by release date if I want unless I delete the playlist and re-add. Is there an easier way?

You can make a smart playlist, that will update
itself.

You can sort an existing playlist by clicking on the
column heading. For example clicking on the words
"Release Date". Click on "Name" changes the sort to
name. Some columns when you click on them will sort
in different ways. For example Album, when clicked
on can become "Album by Artist".
Right, the playlists can be sorted by the following:

Last Played
Artist
You then right-click and bring up the following:

Beats Per Minute
Bit Rate

However it doesn't have a column for "Release Date", which tends to allow it to sort by the original order it was downloaded. That's what I'm hoping for, otherwise I have to delete the Playlist name and re-add it.

I'm having the exact same issue. Nothing in the "Music" menu except "My Music". I Noticed it this afternoon when I woke my Apple TV from standby. The disappearance, in my case, was not related to a reset. My Apple TV has not been reset since the power went out here several weeks ago. Though I obviously don't know for sure, I'm guessing that it's some kind of store problem and we most likely won't be able to correct it from our end.

Ipod Touch won't sync since recent iTunes upgrade

When i try to add songs (not purchased through itunes although I dont know if this is relevant) to my ipod touch they show in itunes under my device however they do not seem to copy to the ipod. Say I add and album then add another the first album gets erased from the ipod and only the most recent files copied remain on the ipod however they all still show as existing on the ipod within itunes, The same thing happens to my ipad and it only seems to have happened since I last upgraded itunes. Both devices have been set to manually manage music and videos so I'm at a loss as to why this is happening,
has anyone got any ideas as I have tried to get hold of older versions of itunes from Apple - Support - Downloads however they report an error when installing (doesnt say what error)

With all the synced media like apps and music in your iTunes library do the following:
- Make a backup in iTunes by:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore the iPod from that backup. The above link includes that restore from backup instructions.
Somehow updating iTunes caused iTunes/iPod to think it was not synced to this library. That happens sometimes.

Recent Itunes upgrade, now cannot access store, PLZ Help

My Itunes was working perfectly until I did the recent upgrade. Now I cannot connect to the store. The connections are the same, only change was the upgrade.
I ran the restore feature in windows to roll back to earlier time, but still having same problem.
I would gladly uninstall Itunes and Quicktime and reinstall fresh, if I knew _how to save the 300 album cover artwork and playlists and purchased items_ I had saved in itunes to link to my apple t.v.

and it will tell you what folder in iTunes contains what you want to preserve.
Copy those folders to a safe location and then, after the new install, move them back to the correct locations.

I'm not saying this isn't a genuine issue for some, I just don't believe it's a general issue with 7.5, we get these reports after every upgrade and usually in quite high numbers, but as I said before high numbers usually mean 50 or so which isn't really a lot.
I suspect many of these issues are caused because itunes has not installed properly due to a file being in the wrong place, corrupt, missing or having wrong permissions etc, which has not allowed the installer to overwrite, move, rename or delete etc that file or another one.
I don't necessarily blame the user for this, but then again I'm not so sure you should blame  for it either, it can often occur through using poorly written 3rd party applications for example. The point I make or at least try to is that when trying to solve such issues it is often unhelpful not to have an open mind about the cause and hence the cure for such problems.

Following the recent iTunes upgrade I am getting two error messages (-42404) and (-50). Any ideas how to rectify?

Using iTunes for the first time since the upgrade I am plagued with error messages - one telling me that a required component is not installed (-42404) and a second that my iTunes store request cannot be completed (-50). I've reset my old iPod as the message tells me but am reluctant to do that on my iPhone and risk loosing content. I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes but it's made no difference. Any ideas how to fix please?

After upgrading iTunes this week (SHARED > Home Sharing is now in the left pane), podcasts now play back improperly. Different podcasts now play back at higher speeds.
Music (songs) plays back at normal speed.
What to do? Do I have do a Restore?

it's easily done. that's why i always make sure to hit the power button and put it into sleep mode before putting mine in my pocket! (if you double click the home button while it's in sleep mode you can bring up music controls for quick track skips/pauses without having to slide to unlock)
