Recent poor print quality on C5580

I have had my C5580 for a year or so with no problems. Three days ago the print quality decreased dramatically with all the photos looking very grainy and pixely. I have replaced the ink cartridged, check the print quality which defaults to "best", and even check the camera to find out if I accidentally altered the photo quality. I am at a loss as to what happened. Any help?

  • HP LaserJet 2600n poor print quality/streaking

I am the original owner of an HP LJ 2600n with a poor print quality/streaking issue. The poor print quality occurs with any and all paper that I use (currently Hammerhill 20# stock) and occurred with Windows XP and Windows 7. The print cartidges are all genuine HP and changing them does not make any difference. I have cleaned the front door roller with no improvement.  My firmware version is 20070716. The black cartridge is at 33%; yellow 75%; cyan 91% and magenta 91%...
Any advice would be appreciated. An example of the output is attached below:

    Hi everyone,
I have resolved my problem. I took a leap and purchased a new toner cartridge, and the new catridge works great. Installed it yesterday and the test page comes out clean, clear and with no double image. I'm happy.
Apparently the printer had not had a print item sent to it in over a year. I think that was actually hard on the toner cartridge.
Tthanks to everyone for their help via private emails!

  • L7780 poor print quality after not using for 6 months

Poor print quality after not using my printer for about 6 months.  Ran thru the tools (clean printhead, aligh, etc  . . .) didn't help. Replaced all chartridges, still no help.
I'm fairly tech savy, been in IT for 27 years starting with hardware support.
Question,  can I manually clean the printheads or should I just replace. I would rather try to clean them manually after just shelling out > $ 170 on new chartridges.
    thanks
    Brent

    Hi @Brentl
Yes, you can clean the printhead and the inside of the printer. The following document will help; 'The Following Printheads are Missing or Damaged, Replace the Printhead' Message Displays on the All....
    I hope this helps.

  • Poor print quality through photoshop CS 6 using HP 7520

Hi Im having poor print quality (muddy) dense, I might not have the proper color management or printer profile loaded on the HP 7520. using Windows 7 (64) bit.
    Thanks
    Bill

Well, I guess it is all about the paper.
I started using Premium Ink Jet paper which cleaned up the printing a great deal. Standard quality settings now produce just faint imperfections but higher quality settings eliminate them entirely.
One of those "you get what you pay for" issues I guess.

  • C4180 poor print quality

I've had my c4180 for a couple of years without any problems but the image print quality is now starting to deteriorate. When printing images on normal paper I usually print at maximum dpi but the quality is quite poor with white lines across the images. I've tried cleaning the print cartridges many times but it makes no difference. I've taken out the colour cartridge and given it a clean as recommended but still no improvement. There is just under half of the colour ink left so it's not because I'm running low either.
It's looking like I will need to buy a new printer which I really didn't want to have to do as it works perfectly apart from this.
    Can anyone suggest anything?
    Thanks in advance.

    43,
Ink has a limited life span.  It is sad, I know.  The ink in the printer may just be "old" beyond it's actual age.
I have an old J6480 that I use only occasionally -- it is such a good printer that I keep it in spite of the fact that I might have to change out the cartridges more frequently than when the unit actually runs out of ink.
You might change out the cartridges so you are not coating the insides of the printer with the old ink.
If you are not going to use the printer very often, it does seem to help to keep it stored in a cabinet: dark and enclosed where there is not an abundance of light, dust, dampness, or temperature differences.  I keep the J6480 in a cabinet on the other side of the house and use it wirelessly about every six months.
You may have to re-run the cleaning operation a couple of times after you do change the ink; change out the cartridges, test, and then decide.

  • Dell 3130cn Poor Printing Quality

The print quality on my Dell 3130cn  has recently gone downhill.  It's missing print and the print that does make it to the paper is very light.  I've changed out the toner cartridges but that didn't and honestly, I didn't expect it to help.  Does this mean it's time for a new fuser?

Horizontal lines? Make sure you have the right print settings and paper settings on your printer.
That sounds a LOT like you have the paper type set to plain paper, or have it set to draft mode, or something.

  • CP1025nw, repeptetive smudges, poor print quality, pushing toner button does nothing.

I haven't used this printer in a couple of years, so I sense some of my issues might be related to that.  First up, the print quality is quite poor. Despite having a new black toner cartridge, the B&W printing isn't very strong; it's blotchy in some areas with random spots in others. Second, there are repeating color splotches all over the place. I've attached a photo. Third, pressing any of the toner buttons does nothing, no beeps, blinks, or movement. So far, the only things I've tried was toreplace the black toner cartridge and blow out the interior of the machine with compress air. I also removed the drum and gave that a quick and careful cleaning.. Any thoughts?

  • Brother HL-3170CDW won't print in color, has poor print quality. I have downloaded drivers, and firmware from Brother with no success.

Just received this printer, and am unable to have any success with it printing in color. I have downloaded drivers, and firmware from Brother that are for OSX 10.9. Also, the print quality is quite poor. Any suggestions what I should be looking for to resolve this? I feel like I am back in the 90's with Windows 3.1!

You need to go to the brother website and download the driver for your printer. I had the same problem, and resolved it just now. The driver for this particular printer is not a good match for any of the preinstalled printer drivers on os x.

  • Poor print quality for black ink for Photosmart 6520e

Having a problem with black printing.  Using all HP cartridges, but when I run a test page, I get white, horizontal bars across the black test bars.  Some of them are 1/4 inch wide.  Replaced the cartridge and did the automatic printhead cleaning, but no improvement.  I know the printhead is not removeable, what is the next step?

    Hi @Mikenstlouis,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you are running into some print quality issues with the black ink on your HP Photosmart 6520.
I would like you to continue here: Printer Does Not Print Black Ink or Color Ink, or Prints Blank Pages, I understand you may have done some of these steps already but I need you to complete all steps in order to resolve the missing black issue you are experiencing.
Please note: There are three printhead cleaning stages. Complete all three stages if necessary. If the printhead is badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes after the last (third) cleaning stage to start the first stage of the cleaning process over again.
If you are still unable to print in black ink, I suspect the issue may be the printer and not the cartridge. I highly recommend you call our technical support at 800-474-6836, I trust they will be able to assist you regardless of the warranty status. • HP6600 Poor Print Quality

    Hi,
I am contiinually having to run the Printhead Clean feature before I can print with my Officejet 6600. Once the cleaning is completed, the print quality is fine. Prior to running the cleaner the printing is smudged, blurred or missing, and is often only black (i.e. no colours).
The printer is about 6 months old and has had this problem from day 1 ( I know, i'm lazy). I seem to be consuming almost all of my ink just getting the printheads clean.
According to the HP tool, the printheads are ok. The cartridges don't seem to have a vent in them, is this correct?
    I'd appreciate any suggestions, please?
    Rob.

    Hello @Crossy,
Generally you want to update the Firmware via a USB Cable connection as it is a direct connection. You don't want any interference when you run a Firmware Update as it reprograms the printer. If the programming update is interfered with in any way than you're pretty much left with an expensive paper weight.
In your specific case, because your printer is currently running version MIM2CN1435AR than that is the latest version. The Firmware Update tool will not allow you to resend the firmware.
The last step now would be to contact our Australian support team at: 1300 721 147

  • 932C - Poor Print Quality

Pictures don't look like they do on the screen.  For example, a sunset, the sky is not as blue and the clouds don't have the orange glow.  Is there a way to fix this? Anything with color just doesn't look as vibrant and colorful as it does on the monitor.  Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions.

Hi - Good question.  There are a number of things you can try to get better color matching between the monitor and the printout.  First, the type of paper you are using can have a big impact.  Try different kinds of paper.  Some will perform better than others and you want to make sure you're using a paper designed for an HP inkjet printer rather than a LJ printer.
Second, the printer driver settings can have a big impact.  In whatever SW you're printing from, click File, Print and (depending on the SW) Printer Setup or Properties.  In one of the tabs you should have options to choose the type of paper, which is normally set to automatic.  Maybe try setting it to the specific type of paper you have.  Sometimes the sensor may not properly recognize the type of paper.  In addition, you might try increasing the print quality setting as well, increasing it from Normal.  In addition, there are other driver settings (I don't have the DJ932 installed, so I can't tell you specifically) that allow you to finetune the printouts.  Go ahead and try making some of those additional adjustments in the printer driver.
Third, the SW you're using can impact the colors as well.  You might try printing from a different SW to see if you get better results.
    Hope that helps.

  • HP D1600 making machine gun noise and poor print quality

    Hello.
Whenever I turn on the printer it makes a horrendously loud clicking noise like a machine gun being fired. It sounds fine during printing but the print quality is very low and it looks smeared. after printing the clicking resumes.
I've checked to see if there's anything causing a jam but can't see anything. I've also cleaned the paper feed and the cartridges and aligned the cartridges but it's still the same.
    Please help

Same engine as the CM2320 which means it has two motors on the right side and if one of them goes bad it will give the color bars across the paper.  To test just remove the right side cover and swap the motors since they are the same and see if the problem changes.

  • Illustrator - poor print quality - jagged lines

Ok, I read here about color problems with Illustrator and InDesign when printing with devices considered "RGB" (like any non postscript inkjet). Well, my problem is different. Lines are jagged when printed with Illustrator, if I want good print quality I must use the system preview software (Mac OS X 10.5.6). This is not good, why open another soft if Illustrator MUST print the file for me. At Illustrator print dialog "print as bitmap" is market and can't be deselected (is gray).
    I'm using
    Mac OS 10.5.6
    Illustrator CS 3 13.0.2
    HP Photosmart C4280 All-In-One (DriverHP_Photosmart_C4200_series V. 2.3.2)
    Thank you!

Illustrator is a postscript application. It sends Postscript data.
An inkjet printer without a Postscript RIP (Raster Image Processor) does not understand the postscript data, therefore it prints what it does understand - the low resolution raster preview image.
You can avoid all this by simply saving the Illustrator files (or Indesign files) as PDFs. Then print the PDF. Adobe Acrobat is a software RIP which converts the postscript data for you.
This is also why Preview will print correctly. Preview uses the embedded PDF data, not the postscript data.
Other than that, you need to get a printer that understands Postscript, preferable level 3 postscript.
